I have found this book so helpful that it sits immediately adjacent to my copy of Architectural Graphic Standards.

If you follow architectural publications, you will find this handbook catalogs recent noteworthy works that you are familiar with, and many others that you are not. Specifically, this book is organized according to specific building component types (i.e. curtainwall systems, millwork, stairs.) For each of these types, the book offers a color photograph of a built example, and then several blackline details revealing the technical composition required for such an aesthetic effect. The best thing is, the book offers 3+ examples of each component type.

This is a really good book for anyone who wants to learn advanced design of structures. cable stayed roofs are widely used where there is shortage of ground space. This book provides a very good foundation in every aspect.

Good Surveillance Book.......2004-07-20

I purchased this book for a book I am writing about security and surveillance. It is an interesting book. The author is fairly well known in this clandestine business.

The book looks like it is self published. Without a lot of press backing. The book is written in a cold style and is not
a novel but is supposed to be based upon a true story. I searched the Web and did not find the company Axnan in the NYSE or even on the web. So I suspect that Axnan isn't a real company.

The names of the characters are Tom, Dick and Harry so that too iindicates this book is a "theoretical" book that cannot be checked.

The story is interesting in that it provides insight into how surveillance is conducted. It even admits that the work was done illegally.

If you are interested in Corporate Surveillance I recommend this book since there is very little authentic material out there. The current polictical environment being more concerned about less sophisticated criminals.

My book: Protecting Your Assets: The Facility Manager's Guide to Physical Security will be completed in a couple of months and should be published early next year by Fairmont Press.

The corporate espionage story that is seldom told.......2000-11-26

The unimportant people in the company, a security guard and a construction worker shape the future of the corporation. They are the key to planting illegal listening devices that probe boardroom conversations.

Executives who read this book will (with justification) worry. This story -- about how a competitor can plant bugs in the executive suite -- is a good one. I especially enjoyed the realism that the author gives to the business of remaining invisible, while doing technical work in the president's office.

A good book for geeks, execs or counterspies.

Good read, but a bit rushed at the end........2006-05-12

This book and its predecessor prove that Asprin (and Del Carlo) can write "serious" fantasy. Strangely enough, I found all the major characters sympathetic, even the "evil" ones. Without going into details, Aquint may not be a role model, but he does recognize and deal with complex ethical issues. Even Dardas has his moments, though he is the most one- (two-?) dimensional of the bunch. It takes talent to show a story from both sides while maintaining balance.

Overall, I found this book worth the price. However, I do have a couple of minor quibbles with the work and these prevent me from giving it five stars. First, there is one event that occurs in the Praulth storyline which seems somewhat gratuitous. Second, the ending feels rushed. I am not sure if there is a sequel planned, but the way a lot of the threads are tied up off-stage seemed a bit weak to me.

Those two complaints aside, I recommend the book (and Wartorn: Resurrection as well).

I ordered this book when I found out about it when trying to locate an out-of-print copy of DeWitt's "The Golden Kingdom". (Which is also fantastic, by the way.) I was thrilled to see he had a new one, and as soon as I got it, I started reading and couldn't put it down. It is really amazing how he incorporated layers of events happening at the same time only on different planes of reality. It has lots of "truth" in it, which made the story seem very real to me. Thank you, Steve, and keep writing! P.S. The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars was because there were typos that bothered me, but that really had nothing to do with the fabulous story! Steve, ask me to proofread for you next time!! :)

A unique and very exciting book!.......2006-02-11

Ever since I read Steve DeWitt's "The Golden Kingdom" I've been waiting for another book from this author to come out. "Warriors of the Sound Current" was well worth the wait. It's much deeper and more mature than the first one. I love the way he introduces his characters and then has them interact via Soul Travel - in a setting that spans different planets, cultures, political systems, levels of technology, and planes of reality. The plot is fast paced and gripping, the relationships are strong and complex, and the spiritual insights and wisdom gained by the characters through often wrenching experiences are fresh and frequently surprising. This isn't some kooky fantasy - in the context of life existing on different levels of vibration and soul's ability to travel between them, this is a plausible and logical story. I learned a lot from it that will be useful in my life. It's a big book, 522 pages, but it's well written and will hold your interest throughout. I also liked the maps of Mars at the beginning, which helped in following the action there, and the explanation of spiritual terms used in the book. DeWitt describes a marvelous world of possiblities for anyone wanting to have out of the body experiences. It's changed my outlook forever.

I really enjoy this book. The first devotional that I have seen that is focused on the Workplace. The daily devotionals are a great way to start the day, especially if you don't have much time. They get to the point and always challenge me to live a more Godly life.

I purchased this book after I went to a lecture in Dallas, TX by the expert and author of Living With Limoges, Antique Limoges at Home and Collecting Hand Painted Limoges Porcelain, Boxes to Vases, Debby DuBay. I love any book that has photographs of Debby's collection of fantastic Limoges. Highly recommend.

This book on Limoges boxes is great specifically if you are interested in ANITQUE LIMOGES boxes!! Great reference book - I have found several dealers of antique Limoges boxes! (I recommend Limoges Antiques Shop, MA) Great collaborative effort with other dealers and authors; rare in the publishing world - but helpful to collectors! This author lead me to DuBay's LIVING WITH LIMOGES. Faye is gracious lady, great author, the perfect mentor, and a wonderful speaker!

Ms Strumpf is a wonderful, enthusiastic author who has shared her knowledge of Limoges boxes -- along with her resources!! This is the only book that has helped me find antique shops that actually sell antique Limoges boxes! Through her book I have been able to acquire several antique boxes for my personal collection. (In addition, she has mentored several authors to include Debby DuBay, author of Living With Limoges.) I applaud Ms Strumph for being one of the only authors who has collaborated with other authors on the subject of Limoges and for providing good information to lovers of ANTIQUE Limoges boxes.

I found that this was a well thought out book that displayed a variety of styles from simple to elaborate. This book would not be for someone who does not have any talent (unless you are planning on using an interior decorator) it does show wonderul ideas for the crafty person. I recommend it for reference when thinking about redecorating your childrens (or doing a nursey).
