It's the best I've found for true SW style homeplans, but many of the plans are not SW -- just houses with tile roofs. They're all 2,000 sq. ft & up, many twice that size, which puts them out of reach for me (too expensive to build)

Great Floor Plans.........2000-10-11

However I just wished there had been more real life photos instead of the monochrome sketches to help actually visualize what the house would look like after construction. Definitely useful for someone planning to build adobe style.

Still searching for good Southwestern House Plans.......2000-02-28

Although the book does have a few Pueblo-style plans like those featured on the front and back cover, very little of the book is devoted to them. Most of the houses it contains are what I would term as fairly traditional, nonsouthwestern houses; their tile roofs seem to be the basis for their inclusion. I have yet to find a good collection or two of southwestern plans. Most of the floor plans were unappealing to me as well.

If you are looking for a book with ideas of "pueblo style" or southwestern adobe style homes, this is not it. The cover is misleading, leading you to believe this book contains many if not all, this style. There are only a few (count 3 or 4) plans in the true pueblo style.

What I found really disappointing was that the supposed "workbook" has the word sample written all the way across each of the budgeting pages and that over half of the book contains a screenplay I can already look up on the internet.

Do-It-Yourself Course!.......1999-09-17

Hey -- do as I did. Get Singleton's Film Scheduling and his other book Film Budgeting and this one and use them together as a complete course on scheduling and budgeting. Then rent Coppola's The Conversation and watch it after doing your own schedule and budget. Much better than any $500 software program or quickie film course! Learn from a master (check out his credits on the IMDb). He knows what he's talking about.

I used this book along with a couple of other titles by Singleton while producing an independent feature from Aug-Nov 1998 ( now editing). I found it useful and direct, and the forms it contains and were helpful.

Definitely Impressed!.......2006-06-16

Although I was not familiar with any of Dan Dougherty's work, I found this book quite impressive. From the first pages, I was hooked! I read this novel in one sitting! I couldn't put it down! Dougherty's way of overlapping and interlacing stories in the past and present, while keeping the plot seemingly complex was very enthralling! A suprise awaited every turn of the page! And the artwork was amazing! Certain scenes still come back in thrilling detail, capturing the intensity of the story! I would definitely recommend purchasing this book, as well as anything Dan Dougherty might come up with next!

I found this book at a local Borders and started flipping through it. In the end, I decided to take it home and finish reading it because the first few pages entranced me so. I was not disappointed. This graphic novel is well-written, well-drawn, and the story will really stick to your ribs like a thick, tasty gravy. Can't wait for more from Dougherty!

Boomers, Read this Book!.......2007-03-01

Gene Amole is THE fatherly/grandfatherly character of all our lives. This book should speak to anyone whose parents came of age during the Greatest Generation. Gene (Frank, as my parents knew him) was the daily columnist for the Denver newspapers for decades. His signature was a one-word opening that certainly summed up the content of his column. Anyone who enjoys Molly Ivins (heck, anyone that reviles Molly, too) would certainly enjoy this collection, as well as Amole's previous books. This is a slice of American life, lived by a great example of an American citizen in his finest hour. A must read for any of us who have parents in their declining years...and written by such a wonderful man. Hunt up Gene's final radio interview on NPR and you'll undertand why you should read this book. Support hospice and get a great read with one purchase.

I was slotted as a police sniper on a SWAT team one year ago. I have been reading everything I can get my hands on about being a sniper since then. This has been the most helpful and best written book on the subject I have read so far. Kudos to the authors.

Yes, it could have been laid out a bit better, but that doesn't detract from what a treasure of information this book is.

This manual contains valid and useful information but is very poorly laid out. The table of contents and the index contain not one single page listing, Duh! Additionally all the figures are at the end of the chapter, hand drawn, hand written figure numbers or just plan missing. But the kicker is this and most of the sniper/target interdiction books are available in pdf format for free. Contact me at my email address. This is so typcial of the publishers Paladin Press, Delta Press, etc.

This manual was well written, concise, and without opinion. The manual, written at fifth grade level is easy to understand though the pictures and diagrams leave much to be desired. Great range estimation chapter! Definate recommended reading.

This is THE best book on the subject with the USMC S/S manual only half a step behind. SOTIC contains a more thorough review of mechanics, ballistics calculation and trajectory theory. As for the gentleman who wrote a review on 26 April 2000"The real deal folks", I agree with his thoughts on the book. However, Mr. A Reader, I would appreciate you telling me and the world what "sniper" team you operated with in the Special Forces- being that there are no sniper teams in the organizational echelon. You must be thinking of the USMC. There are however SOTIC trained individuals(usually 18B) who can collaborate with the A team(s) and/or operate independently. If you were in fact on an A/B/C TEAM, what might that teams organizational designation be? One more bit of information for all of you RESPECTFUL enthusiasts of Special Operations: the SF, SEAL's, PJ's, or any other USSOCOM units are not considered "black organizations".

This book is an excellent introduction to the practical aspects of landscape design. After every chapter, the student can find an extensive bibliography for further study or reference. All concepts are clearly explained, especially spatial perception and projects. If you are looking for a one-in-all book, this is it. However, do not expect it to say much about the history of landscape design. This is a practical book only, but first quality!!!

This book is a very easy read: large type, not too many words on a page, simple concepts.

At the back is a fascinating glossary with an incredible number of sex related terms. You'll want to bone up on your vocabulary.

The book has all kinds of creative ideas for how to have sexual interactions, while minimizing danger.

As a person who has had several very close friends die of AIDS, I am very grateful for all the information I can get. Being squeamish, or denying that the problem exists is not the solution. This book is a great first step in learning about issues and options.

Engrossing account of early Cold war shenanigans.......2003-02-15

"Mole" was on the reading list for CIA applicants,* so i found it in the library & was hooked from page one. It is the account of the first Soviet agent to be turned by the CIA. It is the tale of a man in a perpetual state of fear & panic.

But if that's not satisfactory, there's the digressive account of the original model for James Bond: a Yugoslav by birth, assigned to spy on the Abwehr by the Soviets. In 1941, he arrives in America. His connection with Pearl Harbor & J. Edgar Hoover may leave you, like me, baffled forever: "How could they not know?

A book that unusual for the fact that it wasn't written to capitalize on current events. A very good account of the early post-WWII days in the espionage game.

The real deal about espionage.......2002-06-30

Much has been written about spies, spy-craft and espionage. Little has been written by those actively engaged in the business. William Hood, the nom de plume of a retired CIA officer, gives his story of the first Soviet agent recruited by American intelligence during the Cold War. It is a fascinating, true-life tale. I would recommend this book exclusively on this point, yet there is more to the book than this. It is also a detailed and highly personal account of how spycraft is practiced, the mental and psychological toll this takes, and the risks involved (for both agent and controller). Because of this, I highly recommend this book. I have never read anything like it.

I would add that Hood provides a wealth of books of a similar vein (ie. accounts from intelligence field officers) that may also be of interest. It is without doubt an engrossing and intriguing read.

Seemed Pretty Darn Real.......2001-01-08

Felt like I was in on the spy case. Very interesting and will undoubtably be a standard reference for those interested in the world's second oldest profession for years to come.
