In Time To Love.......2007-02-21
A Thousand Tomorrows is and inspirational book about how to live your life to the fullest. In this book Cody Gunner goes through life missing someone special to him. The reason why this person left causes Cody a lot of anger that he expresses through bull riding. He doesn't care that he might die doing this; all he cares about is the eight seconds that he is on the bull. This is only way to let out his anger but this is a secret that he keeps to himself. Ali Daniels is on the Pro Rodeo Circuit, too, and she has a secret she keeps from the rest of the riders. This until she meets Cody. Ali learns that she can learn to trust Cody and with the trust they give each other they fall in love. When a tragedy happens, they both have to live life together fully because the time they have may be short. Anyway this is an amazing book, and the ending is so sweet that you may end up crying.
Karen Kingsbury is an inspirational author who knows how to write a good book that you take it to heart. She is an amazing Christan author. In A Thousand Tomorrows she portrays two people's lives in which all they can do is live life to the fullest or they are cheating themselves of the time they have. This is an amazing book that all you can do is love.
Loved this book!.......2007-02-08
This was the first book that I had ever read by Karen Kingsbury and I can't wait to read all her other books. This was the best book that I have read in a long time. I would have liked to seen a little more spiritual aspect but it was still a wonderful book!
A Thousand Tomorrows.......2006-07-06
The author weaves a tale that keeps me at the edge of my seat at all times! It's as if I know who she is talking about because she makes sure I know her characters well. The trail through the story pulls me into the story with them and it's as if the story is happening to me or to the people in my life. I identify completely with the challenges the characters face, and sometimes, they even help me see things in my own life that need to be addressed.
Where is the spirituality?.......2006-03-05
I have read so very many of Karen Kingsbury's books and have always been so impressed by the spirituality of the characters but not in this one.
The characters in this book never prayed together. Not once. I was so disappointed in the lack of faith and trust in God.
Karen has written yet another gut-wrenching, tear-jerker of a story but the spiritual aspect was dismal.
I sincerely hope that she quickly abandons this format and returns to her previous way of writing. One that actually contains scripture texts and prayer by the characters instead of angry bitterness and acceptance of circumstances that don't seem to have anything to do with God's grace.
Not her best effort.
very good read.......2006-01-30
It is always the same, you can't put Karen's books down once you start reading them. I have read all of her books and I am waiting for the new book to come out.

Book Description
The brilliant debut that's sold over a million copies-now in trade paperback for the first time!
Rediscover the "wonderfully funny, deliciously mean" (New York Times) novel that launched Susan Isaacs' New York Times bestselling career-and introduced Long Island housewife Judith Singer, her most beloved character. Judith is smart and funny, with a gorgeous husband and wonderful kids. She's also incredibly bored, having put her Ph.D. plans on hold for a life of housekeeping and nose-wiping. So when a local dentist is found murdered, and the police suspect her neighbor, that's all the excuse Judith needs to jump in and begin her own investigation. It seems the deceased periodontist was quite the Don Juan of the PTA, with a habit of taking incriminating photos. In between school runs and making dinner, Judith is drawn deeper into the case-and closer to the sexy police detective in charge.

Started as a mystery and ended as a love story, sort of........2006-07-06
It started out as a murder mystery. I was pleasantly surprised. Then, it introduced the "affair" and that was it for me. The book became more about desperate housewives looking for love in all the wrong places. Please. Isn't this a little played out? I was not as impressed as everyone else was with this book. The book was overhyped. Sorry, but it's true.
The Original Desperate Housewife.......2005-09-28
This is still one of my all time favorite books. If you like Desperate Housewives, you'll love Compromising Positions. The desperate housewife of this book is a great character who regains her self-esteem, solves a murder and still has time for a little romance. The secondary characters are a hoot.
A Great Read!.......2005-01-13
I always love finding a new author, and am SO glad I've found Susan Isaacs!!! Compromising Positions is a witty, intelligent, fast paced read that had me laughing out loud and biting my finger nails! What more can you ask for from a book? I've since read Long Time No See, the follow up (albeit 20 years later) to Compromising Positions and loved it as well!!! Good work Ms. Isaacs - I'm looking forward to reading all your other works.
Great tale of Suburbia.......2003-10-28
OK, let's face it up front: This is a story about adultry, murder and intrigue in middle-American suburbia. It's not the type of lifestyle that most of us aspire to but in Susan Isaac's hands it is absolutely hilarious. This is one of the few books that made me laugh out loud - the word pictures created are too good for words.
IN fact, the whole tale - from plot to Jewish Angst to the heroine's thoughts - are the stuff of best sellers. I have a real attraction to those stories where the innocent bystander innocently becomes involves (and solves) a crime. This is all done between soccer rides for kids and fixing dinner for her hubby. (The movie was not nearly as good as the book but was still a hoot.) Definite read.

"Saucy Santa" has the last laugh.......2006-09-06
Emily is distraught when she discovers her boyfriend Declan has just started a porn site, on which he's posted suggestive photos of her. She's mortified since the photos were meant for his eyes only. Soon she discovers that's not his only betrayal. He's also mortgaged their home, depleted her savings accounts, and as a result of his internet doings, has managed to get her fired from her job as a teacher.
With no home, no job, no money, and no man, she turns to best pal Cara, a reporter. Cara's co-workers have seen the photos and soon her paper creates media buzz by identifying Emily resulting in her inability to get another teaching position. Cara has her own problems - she's nursing a crush for her co-worker, photographer Alex, a single father contemplating custody of his pre-teen son.
While trying to turn her life around, Emily signs with a publicist who arranges for her to attend several local events. She spots a man there that takes her breath away, but unfortunately they never get the chance to actually meet. Unbeknownst to Emily, the man in question is Alex.
It is through a series of miscommunication and misunderstandings that events unfold, as Emily struggles with the newfound fame that has been thrust upon her, and her desire for her anonymity restored. It's an engaging story, and I was rooting for Emily to find Mr. Right all along. Published in the US as "Bare Necessity."
Boring.......2004-12-21
Another entry into the chick lit genre.
Emily finds out her boyfriend has betrayed her by putting up pictures of her on the Net.
Enter the best friend, Cara who is going to do all she can to make sure that Emily snaps out of it.
The beginning of this book is so boring that I already started regretting having bought it by page 2.
The two main female leads are portrayed as just so different and in fact, this is a huge problem with the story. The two worlds just don't jive.
While the author has a down to earth feeling about her writing, I thought this story was boring, standard, overly done chick lit.
This should definitely be a pass.

Book Description
When 16-year-old Chris Martino moves with his mother to Los Angeles from New Jersey, he inadvertently befriends nerdy classmate Roger "Horseface" Obst. Chris writes Roger a note in lemon juice-"invisible ink"-but later a different message appears, and it becomes obvious that a terrifyingly omnipotent force is about to ensnare Roger in its net of darkness. While Roger senses an opportunity for revenge against his student tormentors, Chris resists this evil presence, which identifies itself as Othersyde; therein lies the book's most forceful conflict. As the terror escalates, a policewoman and a sympathetic teacher become involved with the evil around them-and with each other.

Definitly my favorite book.......2006-07-06
Hands down, this is THE only book that I have ever recommended people to read. This book is so creepy in certain parts that i cried....(but lets not mention that to people)...I've read it twice and i bought it a year ago. I let my roomate read it and shes in love with it as well. If you want a good read then buy this! I bet you'll find it a hard book to put down!
read this before you bully that kid in your class again.......2001-10-03
this book reminded me of an old episode of the Real Ghostbusters cartoon(which JMS also wrote for) where this kid who gets bullied alot falls under the influence of an evil demon, who gradually takes over his entire body, and he has a friend who's worried about him because he sees what is going on. In any case, I think it has a bit more relevance today and gives some insight to how it feels to be that one kid everyone picks on and what would cause him to snap and turn on his classmates. The pacing is very reminiscent of Demon Night, and overall tone is very Steven King-ish, but still a good read, especially if you're only view of JMS is limited to B5.
Haunting, Engaging Tale.......2000-11-04
Othersyde is a complex weave of teenagers trying to establish themselves in society and get the respect of their peers, but also the eerie tale of an unseen force trying to wreak havoc upon the world.
From the tick-tick-ticking of the telegraph key, to the foreshadowing of Babylon 5 (not yet a series or pilot at time of publish) - Straczynski has a way of pulling you in, locking you up, and then spitting you back out wanting more.
If you can find this book - you will not be disappointed!
Not bad at all.......1999-07-22
Found this in a bargain bin with about 50 other copies of the same book. Interesting little tale of childhood alienation and revenge, it won't blow you away but it's A LOT more interesting than bleedin Babylon 5
Out of Print But Worth The Effort To Find..........1999-07-10
My brother surprised me one day by handing me a copy of Othersyde. He found it at a library sale. It's a great read in the same creative vain as Stephen King. Fans of Babylon 5 will not be disappointed by the horror genre, and they will see some references to B5 as well. Frankly, I think the publisher is stupid by not re-releasing this book based on JMS' current popularity. Best of luck to You in Your search for The Othersyde.

Book Description
Here is a practical, compassionate book parents can turn to when they first recognize that their child has a "problem" –– but aren't sure what it is or where to seek help.
At this very moment, millions of children across the U.S. are falling behind in school, acting out impulsively at home, having problems making friends, suffering dramatic mood swings, and more. Their parents are frustrated and afraid, aware that something's wrong, but not sure where to turn for help or how to cope with their child's behavior. "Is it a learning disorder, ADHD, anxiety disorder, or some combination?" they wonder. "Are these moods and behaviors normal or abnormal? Will my child outgrow them?"
This book by a noted neuropsychologist explains the different and overlapping symptoms of learning, mood, and behavior disorders and guides parents in getting the right diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Newby demystifies the process and empowers parents. Step by step, he explains:
––How to observe and chart your child's behavior––a critical diagnostic tool
––What to expect during the evaluation and treatment process
––How to partner with medical and school professionals to assist your child and what to do when conflicts arise
Clear and comprehensive, this supportive guide will be every parent's first line of defense in helping a troubled child.

Here is an exceptionally complete guide to making real smoked food at home that tastes far better than commercially made products.
Customer Reviews:
Smoking meat.......2007-07-31
This book is worthless if you need advise in "At-Home Smoking Meat" using a gas up-Right smoker !! (ie Camp-Chief..etc.)It's geared toward commercial use,not the "Back-Yarder".
If you want to learn to smoke foods, this is the book!.......2006-08-07
This is probably the most complete, detailed book available on smoking food. It's not a barbecue book, it's a smoking book. Written by Warren Anderson, a food enthusiast and long-time food smoker, It covers both cold and hot smoking and includes detailed instructions for building your own smoker, or using commercial smokers. Warren shares everything he has learned through years of smoking food. A chapter covers smoking woods, where to get them and the characteristics of different types of woods. The chapter on cures and marinades covers brines, dry and wet cures, and marinades. Detailed recipes and instructions are included for making smoked bacon, ham, pastrami, jerky, cheese, turkey, fish, shellfish, sausage, nuts, and even smoked Peking duck. It's interesting that the Publisher's Weekly review is critical of the book for being TOO detailed. According to Publisher's Weekly, the descriptions and techniques "read like a technical manual, although Cook's Illustrated fans might welcome the excruciating detail. Though directed toward nonprofessionals, this book isn't likely to please armchair chefs." So, if you are an "armchair chef", this book may not be for you, but as Publisher's Weekly says "for those who plan to make a habit of smoking food, Anderson delivers". If you are serious about smoked food then this book is for you.
Hardly worth the money.......2006-07-05
This is a very basic book. If you really want to start from "scratch" this is the book for you. Using the authors long drawn out curing and smoking process, which he describes in detail, is not very practicle unless you have nothing else to do with your time. Too much time is spent in the book describing very elementary things like oven mitts. This is my third book on grilling/smoking and this book won't be one I refer to for advice. I am in the beginning stages of smoking for fun and as a hobby and I expected more out of this book. I didn't get it, save your money and don't buy it.
Did not dazzle.......2006-06-26
Was not quite what I expected. A lot of good info, but short on specifics.
A simply superb and "user friendly" reference for the preparation of smoked meats.......2006-05-02
One of the oldest methods known to man for preserving meat, smoking over a controlled fire is a technique mastered by every human culture we have knowledge of. Mastering The Craft Of Smoking Food by Warren Anderson is a new and expansive instructional guide for properly cooking in the tasteful culinary style of smoking. Inclusive of master strategies for making bacon, ham, pastrami, jerky, sausage, smoked cheese, salmon, beef and so many more delicious meats, Mastering The Craft Of Smoking Food features a culinary wealth of expertise and do-it-yourself tactics for smoking any and every kind of meat. Enhanced with illustrations and recipes for their preparation, Mastering The Craft Of Smoking Food is very highly recommended for aspiring amateur kitchen cooks and seasoned professional chefs alike as a simply superb and "user friendly" reference for the preparation of smoked meats.

Ty Beanies Tracker 2nd Edition has sold out and is now out of print! By popular demand we are expanding our Beanies book once again.
Customer Reviews:
THE INDISPENSIBLE 2ND EDITION BEANIE GUIDE.......2006-07-21
Beanie Babies were one of the truly remarkable pop culture phenomena of the last 15 years. I can still remember the first time McDonald's offered the Teenie Beanies and my wife and I spent the better part of the weekend trying to track down as many of the little critters for our son as we could. Beanies, however, suffered the same fate as many other collectibles such as comic books and sports cards, two hobbies I was very familiar with. First, it quickly became driven by speculators trying to make a quick buck. Next, corporate greed too over as Ty began churning out more and more product and started to try and manufacture collectibles with special releases. Today, we go to garage sales and Flea Markets and see people dumping their Beanies, often for as little as a buck each.
Yet for its core collectors, those who got into it for the love, and not necessarily the promise of future value, Beanies are still around and viable. If you don't think there is still an active market out there for trading Beanies, just check out eBay. As I write this review there are over 21,000 auctions underway in the Ty category. The speculators have long since dropped out, prices have righted themselves, and Bangzoom has released the 2nd edition of their indispensable guide. The guide covers the Beanie scene right up through the beginning of 2006 and in its review of the marketplace it makes no bones about it...now is a great time to buy, but not such a great time to sell.
The book provides a history of Beanies and their hang tags. A picture of generation's unique tag is included in the book with notes on variations and changes. The book also lists several different Beanie related websites that feature news, accessory sales, trading posts, and other information. The book lists Beanies alphabetically, and lists their birth date, introduction date, retirement date (if applicable) and their hang tag poems. The generation(s) is also listed as well as a current price. But you'll find more than just Beanie Babies In the guide...it also covers Beanie Buddies, Kids, Boppers, Teenie Beanies, Jingle Beanies, Pluffies, Punkies, and more, over 1500 different TY items. The back provides a handy index and checklist.
While the craze of the mid-90's may be over, there are still millions of Beanie collectors and lovers out there and there is simply no better book on the Market than the Ty Beanies Tracker from Bangzoom.

Great Tool.......2007-01-21
After storing hundreds of my daughter's Beanie Babies for years, I purchased this book to help me decide which ones to keep and which ones I could pass on to others to enjoy. Very helpful.
A must-have for all Beanie Baby collectors!.......2006-01-31
I was very happy that the publisher (Bangzoom) made a second edition of this book. I also own the first edition of this book which was released in 2003, and this second edition picks up where it left off and also includes an additional Ty product line. The first edition included Beanie Babies, Beanie Buddies, Beanie Kids, Beanie Boppers, Teenie Beanie Boppers, Jingle Beanies, Basket Beanies, Punkies, and Pluffies. The second edition updated these lines to include product introduced since the first edition's release, and they've added the Teenie Beanie Babies which were a promotion at McDonald's. Also included are Appendices listing all available Champion Beanies and Buddies, Kanata Beanies, and Issy Beanies. This second edition improves on the first edition by adding space on each page for recording the price you paid for a Beanie and its current value, pages to add new products as they are released, a section for notes, pages to calculate the value of your collection, a checklist, and a Beanie Baby birthday index. Karen Holmes did a wonderful job of researching hang tag generations, tush tag generations, and Beanie information. She also provided the pictures included in the book. I use this book constantly to track my collection and highly recommend it!
Customer Reviews:
a good basic book, plus little flourishes.......2003-07-13
I looked pretty carefully and cannot see a referance to the book being for any particular Bernina models, although the author mentions she has #830 and also mentions #730 & #1130. This is more on how to manipulate fabrics using a Bernina and the feet than to service the machine. There are charts on which feet come with the machines #730, 830, 930, 1130, which are optional, and what needle to use for what.
(from the back cover) "KNOW YOUR BERNINA ASKS MANY QUESTIONS: if I had a piece of fabric and a Bernina, how many ways could I change the face of the fabric by using the machine? The question is answered in a step-by-step way in 11 chapters and 36 lessons - add stitches, texture, and fabric; stitch across spaces, draw out threads, add interesting seams, hems, and edges, and more. Only a simple working knowledge of any sewing machine is needed to begin learning free embroidery, applique, cutwork, lacemaking, needleweaving, shadow work, and quilting. Learn to make distinctive embroidered garments, home accessories, gifts - quickly and easily."
While there are other books that will help you learn all of these more advanced sewing techinques (and some with a lot better illustrations/photos) it will be very handy to follow the clear instructions straight from this book so that every machine setting the author mentions are clearly the same for your Bernina - not other makes.
This review is of the 1987 paperbound edition, other editions may vary. I like how this edition binding will lay flat without holding it (except very near the front or back of text block) so that you may follow easily.
Expands the performance of mechanical Berninas!.......2003-02-05
Teaches (and illustrates) maximum use of the mechanical Berninas thru accessories and specialty feet. These stitching tips & techniques add endless possibilities for quality sewing and tailoring, even heirloom and embroidery work. Instructions are precisely written with many helpful photos.

Book Description
Ever since she was old enough to help her grandmother in the garden, Sharon Lovejoy has spent her life working with plants--and along the way, through "trowel and error," she's accumulated hundreds and hundreds of remedies, tips, short-cuts, and cure-alls. Now Ms. Lovejoy--author of Roots, Shoots, Buckets & Boots and the award-winning Sunflower Houses--does for the garden what Heloise or the Queen of Clean does for the household. Trowel and Error collects all of her homespun garden advice into an inviting, environmentally friendly, whimsically illustrated yet dead-on helpful book that will benefit every gardener, beginner or experienced.
Cure plant viruses with spoiled milk. Steep a natural and effective insecticide out of fresh basil. Place flat stones under squash or melons to hasten ripening. Recycle an old apple corer as the perfect dibber for muscari and other small bulbs. Start rosemary cuttings in a green glass bottle. Sprinkle baby powder over seedlings to discourage rabbits. Crush a garlic clove and apply it to your skin as an insect repellent. From urging the reader to take an occasional shower with the houseplants to giving all-natural gardenside first aid, Trowel and Error is a direct line to the kind of practical wisdom that comes only after a lifetime of experience. The book is indexed by problem, plant, pest, and solution, and includes a list of tools and common household items--borax, cornmeal, vinegar--that completes the gardener's arsenal.

a must have.......2007-05-17
This is a great "sitting by the garden" book. I have learned a lot, and it has reinforced some things I thought I already knew. Lots of great ideas, and I love the organic ways to take care of gardens/pests/etc.
For My Husband.......2007-03-03

Trowel and Error: Over 700 Tips, Remedies and Shortcuts..........2007-01-11
As an avid collector of gardening books, I am proud to add this to my library. It is a fun, quick read with no nonsense everyday tips and remedies for the novice to the experienced gardener. It is easily becoming my first reference when tackling the out-of-doors, and it is small enough to tote around the yard as I work. No more "rummaging thru" pages of information. Everything is at my fingertips. THANK YOU Sharon !!
Trowel & Error: quick guide to gardening!.......2007-01-09
During the summer of 2006 I purchased "Trowel and Error" since I am an avid gardener and was looking to add another good reference book about gardening to my library. Once I got it home I realized that this book is a quick guide to gardening and would be very useful to beginning gardeners. I recently moved into a brand new neighborhood in Wetumpka Alabama and discovered that most of my new neighbors are novices to gardening and are always asking me gardening questions, so I decided this book is perfect for them as beginners. I purchased a book for all my beginning gardner friends and each of my four daughters. They all love it.
Instantly Used!.......2006-11-05
I used her ideas the very next day in both my garden and in the elementary school garden where I volunteer.
The book is easy to read and packed with information. The organization could be improved but that might prevent serendipitous discoveries. It really is worthwhile to read every page--whether you think you need it or not!

Wit, Wisdom, Prose, and Plants.......2006-02-13
After having listened with delight to the audio version, I ordered the hardback copy, knowing it was precisely the sort of narrative to which I would return. I've read it twice since then. Who can say why? Well, no, it isn't great literature exactly, though the writing is accomplished, and it takes as its subject, moreover, a gardener from England who "made it big," at least in the gardening world, and in the British one; I'd never heard of him.
Still, the style is so winning, in that gently self-effacing way of the English, and the portrait so honestly done-with the care and attention and patience it must take to design and grow a garden-that it is now the blueprint I might use, if I ever set my own story in sentences. It is written with two audiences in mind: one, persons who have wondered about the success of this Titchmarsh fellow and are seeking a behind-the-scenes glimpse of his life, and two, everyone who faces or has faced any problem in history or in the future, to which the answer for how to have a full and rewarding life is his answer to Hamlet: "he should have married the girl, moved into the big castle, and got himself a garden." Call me sentimental, or call me an Anglophile (crosses I gladly bear) but I love every minute of it.
A pleasant cuppa with Mr. Titchmarsh.......2003-03-29
A relaxing read, full of the good humour and descriptive prose I'd expect from Alan, along with a fact-filled poke around the hills and vales of his life experiences.
I would recommend it highly to fans of his fiction, gardening books, and TV work.... as well as those who are curious if he has always had that marvelous hair and friendly smile (lots of great pictures)!
Almost Everything You Want To Know About Alan.......2003-01-26
Reading this was like sitting down to tea and saying to Alan "tell me about yourself" and he does! It was an informative, enjoyable, and funny book. I am sure I will be reading it many more times to come
Bring a smile to your face.......2002-11-09
Like most people I have watched Alan on the TV and not really thought any more about him. I picked up a copy of this book not knowing really what to expect. What can I say? It is a delight that had me laughing, crying and most of all remembering things that I thought I had forgotten from my own childhood and teenage years. Alan covers all the aspects of his life as a child growing up in a small community, through to the successful man he is today. If like me you are of a 'certain age', read this book, I guarantee it will delight you and bring the memories flooding back. Very well written and extremely interesting, Alan definitely has more to him than meets the eye!
