Book Description
“When I pick up a book of erotica,” says Alison Tyler, “I don’t want to read about ‘beautiful’ and ‘loving.’ I want to read about sweaty and heart-stopping.” Tyler indeed found these latter qualities, in a wealth of variations, when she collected the 27 stories for this smart, raunchy anthology celebrating anal sex. Seasoned erotica authors explore the pleasures of fingers and tongues, real cocks and silicone phalluses, beads and vibrators, and every imaginable strategy for indulging in this popular but still taboo sexual activity. With feather-light foreplay and the grand slam, tickling and teasing and fisting, Luscious reminds us that “dirty” is not only not a bad word, it can make what happens bent over a Harley, on the Appalachian trail, or in an anal sex classroom — some of the kinky locales in this collection — irresistibly arousing.
Customer Reviews:
nice to see.......2007-01-15
It was so nice to see an entire book based on anal eroticsm. The stories were very creative and diverse. I would have liked to see some of them go farther, but overall I was quite pleased and so was my boyfriend.
Variety of stories.......2006-11-27
First of all overall this is a great book. The collection has various topics all centering around the subject. There are gay/lesbian stories there are women receiving and men receiving stories. Most of the stories are M/F stories. Most of the stories are short, 5 to 8 pages long. Since there are not a lot of exclusive collections on this topic I was happy to see this one.
My type of book.......2006-06-17
I am a fan of this sort of story, and was pleased to see a whole collection. Usually, you have to go through a book trying to find the ones that deal with back door sex. But every story in this antho featured arousing anal stories. Even cooler, my girlfriend wasn't horrified by the book when she saw it at my house. I think the cover -- which is pretty rather than threatening -- helped. As well as the fact that it was edited by a woman. The stories cover a whole lot of different genres, but the commonality was that they were all very sexy. I think it would be a great introduction to a partner if you're looking to play this way. And if you already do, then it's just a total turn on.
Stop at the cover.......2006-06-05
If you want erotic, stop at the cover. The stories are a mixture of TS guys 'fooling' men into having anal sex with them, boring stories like a woman trying to talk her husband into having anal sex with her (what man doesn't want this), submissive males, a story about chemistry and physics that mad no sense and equally boring other stories. Neither I or my gf found them the slightest bit erotic.
Supreme Anal Ecstacy.......2006-03-20
Ohhh, I just luuuvvvv that book cover. Opening it, separating the pages looks to be as exciting as parting something else if you know what I mean. Anal sex is truly the hottest thing you can do with your lover, believe it. Of course oral sex is also extremely hot. Let's just say sodomy in general is where it's at. Most women love to have their ass adored and worshipped (and god knows I love to do tht). Just thinking about everything in this book makes me want to stop what I'm doing and go run the bath for my girlfriend for when she gets home so I can please her sweet, sweet cheeks. Oh, yesssssss.
Book Description
From Bakelite jewelry to jadeite dishes, antiques "picker" Jane Wheel has a knack for hunting down vintage collectibles. And when a Chicago estate sale yields a room full of dusty tavern memorabilia, she hits pay dirt once again. Most of this "dead guy's stuff" is just perfect for decorating her parents' newly renovated bar amp; grill in Kankakee, Illinois. Most of this stuff....except for the finger pickled in a jar of formaldehyde. Uncertain what to do about the mysterious "body part," Jane asks former homicide detective Bruce Oh to see if the detached digit is connected to a crime. Meanwhile she is carting her tavern treasures down to Kankakee unaware that her hometown's darkest secrets are buried in her boxes....or that her talent for finding things will lead to a corpse, a kidnapping, and a chilling threat to those she loves most......

So-So.......2006-09-30
Maybe it's because I'm not into antiques and can't understand why someone would want to spend all their time going through and buying other peoples' junk, but I found the whole premise of a "picker" to be silly and boring.
As for the story, I did find the whole thing somewhat confusing with all the saloonkeepers and various characters. It was an easy late-summer read...although I really don't think I'll be continuing with the series.

a Six Pack to go! o/~
Jane Wheel, Kankakee saloon owners' daughter, former ad exec, Charley's estranged wife and Nick's momma, now antique "picker," sentimental "junquer," and ameuteur sleuth, bought a whole room full of old bar Stuff at a going-to-the-assisted-living-home sale. Included in the Dead Guy's (former Chicago tavern owner Oscar Bateman's) Stuff was a grusome discovery which gives new meaning to the phrase "giving one the finger." Jane has bought herself another bushel of trouble in this second installment of Sharon Fiffer's fun and witty "Stuff" series. The gang from her first foray into the cozy colorful world of collectors and collectables is all here, as well as the, er, "mature" ladies from the old Shagri-La Lounge. Is it true, what she says, that "the jadite is always greener on the other side?" It's MIB: mint in book!

An Absolute Must Have for Mystery Lovers!.......2003-04-17
Dead Guy's Stuff continues the story of Jane Wheel (Killer Stuff), an antique "picker" who has made a career of going through old stuff and finding treasures to sell to dealers. However, Jane is not that successful yet because she has a hard time letting go of her finds and she has a tendency to buy memories instead of valuable items, such as Elmira's old schoolwork. Needless to say, Jane is ecstatic when she finds a whole room of 1950s saloon ephemera - just what she needs to redecorate her mother and father's tavern in Kankakee. She loves the Bakelite darts and dice, advertisements from long-defunct liquor suppliers, old bar games, bowling trophies, old photographs and a severed finger in a jar? Jane immediately calls her friend Detective Oh and asks him what she should do. Oh graciously comes over and takes a look, but, while a little macabre, it isn't as if Jane found a dead body or anything. So Jane tucks the finger away in the glove compartment of her car and heads for home to redecorate. There she finds the dead body of her parents' former landlord - with a finger that is almost completely cut off. Jane is positive that there is a link between her finger and the dead guy. Now she just has to find it while dealing with her parent's attempts to keep their past secret, decorating her friend Tim's kitchen for a house show, rooting through the dead guy's three houses of stuff, her mother's kidnapping, her friend's suicide and a fascinating group of little old ladies...
Once again, Sharon Fiffer has presented readers with an absolutely fabulous book. Those who were captivated by her attention to detail and great characters in Killer Stuff will not be disappointed with this follow up. Again, there are great details about antiques and collectibles, as well as fascinating glimpses into small town life in Kankakee. Jane Wheel's associations with her fellow characters are always entertaining and her mother is a real kick. Don't wait for this one to come out in paperback - it is well worth the cost of the hardbound price!
I wish it were summer..........2003-02-24
...so I could run off to garage sales and flea markets like Jane Wheel does! That's the hazard of reading Sharon Fiffer's series during the dead of winter. If you've ever been even temporarily addicted to sifting through other people's wretched refuse, you know what Jane's weekends are like, and you know what her house looks like. You might even know the touch of Bakelite, or feel your heart a-poundin' as you thumb through a box of old discarded photos and papers. It may sound awful or silly to the unexperienced picker, but the sights and sounds and smells of this diversion are wonderfully portrayed in these mysteries. In most instances in real life, you don't find EXACTLY the same things Jane does. (Thank goodness!) Read the books; they're almost like being there.
I like Jane!.......2002-12-23
This episode of "...stuff" was better than the first book. The main character and her cast become more developed and the story flows more smoothly. Jane Wheel is unlike any character I have come across. I look forward to more adventures.

Book Description
Just and Lasting Change presents how to transform communities rapidly and inlocally appropriate ways. Daniel Taylor-Ide and Carl Taylor have been present at key events and worked with key thinkers in dealing with the large forces of inequity, environmental change, and globalization. The approach they have synthesized builds on what has worked over the last century--and can now be implemented rapidly and cost-effectively in many parts of the world. It relies on a three-way partnership of "bottom-up" initiatives from the community level, "top-down" support from government agencies, and "outside-in" ingenuity and objectivity from experts. Based on both a diverse range of case studies--from the earliest attempts to promote social development in India a century ago to current efforts in Tibet, the Peruvian Andes, China, and the American Southwest--and engaging personal experiences, this book describes, step-by-step, how SEED-SCALE can be effectively implemented.
With contributions from leading international experts in community-based development and public health, Just and Lasting Change offers a hopeful description of how people have made a difference in diverse communities around the world and a practical, accessible handbook for those trying to improve the quality of life in underdeveloped communities everywhere.

new Reformation.......2004-06-25
As we watch news reports of the world in chaos and trouble this Book offers not just salve to ease the pain of some of these small communties but also real solution as they being to restore their dignity with justice for all involved.
The Model SEED/Scale is one that I believe should be studied and applied in some of the rural areas, small towns in this part of Southwest Oklahoma. This method is about a reformation of attitude, self-awareness , and possibilites for growth and change bringing the best healthiest new life possible.
I think that Churches could apply the model as well as a way to restoring justice and change withn themselves and within the communities they serve. Revitalization is something that churches in rural arears everywhere talk about I believe this model could be applied with success.
This book should have a broad readership. It could help change the world.
Rev. Bobbie G. McGarey, Southwest Oklahoma Presbyerian Parish Pastor, Frederick, Temple, Walters, Chattanooga, and Grandfield. Oklahoma.
A methodology for durable social change in poor communities.......2003-10-01
The poor communities of the world are, unfortunately, a laboratory for many thousands of mostly failed experiments in how to improve their situation. This important and valuable book builds on decades of practical experience by the authors in the successful, durable transformation of poor communities. The authors' key insights are (1) the necessity for change to be driven by the collaboration of the community, outside experts, and local government; (this may seem obvious, but many projects fail because they treat one of these three groups as an enemy or obstacle rather than a vital element), (2) to have measurable results, (3) to use the power of the community to modify behavior that is an obstacle to success. This book should be read by donors as well as those directly involved in development activities such as community leaders, government officials, and NGO workers.

Decent book, but many better options.......2004-05-14
I bought this book when I was first starting at a local homebrew store since they had a limited recipe book selection. I was very let down with the contents. Most of them are mashed, which isn't a bad thing, but I am still at extracts. also very few of the recipes seemed to jump out at me as ones I had to try. They have all been tested at competitions though, so I am sure they are good, and the book includes brewers comments on beer (ie. proceedure, and other details) and judges comments (ie. flavor of hops didn't come though, poor head retention, etc.) So adjustments can be made. If you are looking for additional mash recipe's this book may be of help, but I feel there are many more to fill it's spot on your shelf more effectively.

A Classic Beauty of Shaker Furniture and Lives!.......1999-02-02
The book presentation itself, is beautiful. Mr Kassay has over thirty years experience teaching industrial style, and it shows in his book. All of the photos are black and white, which at first, struck me as odd -- but Mr Kassay highly successfully uses this medium to help convey the grace, simplicity and sleekness of the Shaker's furniture. In his excellent descriptions, he provides the colors, type of current finish, and the original, if known.
The measured drawings of the selected items are a work of art by themselves. They are beautiful line drawings with gray shading which gives a three dimensional presence. Mr Kassay carefully and completely exposes the hidden joinery that has often been omitted from the other classics of measured drawings of Shaker furniture. None of the other books that I have read, come close to providing as much detail of the actual craftsmanship of the joints.
At first impression, my favorite is his drawing and explanation of the Harvard side table with the under slung drawer from the Fruitlands Museum. It's stability has always looked questionable to me, and he openly discusses it and I gained insight how to modify mine to be more sturdy, but still very recognizable as a reproduction of the original.
Instead of showing photos of one or two examples of each type of item, for example, candle stands, he shows four or more. While he doesn't have measured drawing of each photo, he has at least one measured drawing of each type and provides dimensions on the other pieces. By providing many examples of items, he relates a broad sense of all of the Shaker's candle stands, rather than portraying, "this is the characteristics of this stand, look elsewhere for the big picture."
He also includes a good history of the Shakers. While the information is fairly common among the books about the Shaker's and their furniture, it makes his book a complete reference for new comers and for people who have only room on their shelf and budget for one book.
If the reader is interested in the beauty of the Shaker furniture, a beautifully done book, and extremely well done drawings, this is probably the book!
A very good book about a most interesting furniture Style........1998-10-07
I'm, as a woodworker, an advanced amateur (I'm a Civil Engineer). One of my last works was a case with 27 (yes twentyseven) drawers of 15 different sizes and a door. A few months ago, attracted by a photo in the cover, I bought a book in London (England) about all the aspect of the Shaker Community and with a great surprise, I found there something very similar to what I had drafted and done. I didn't even know the existence of a Shaker Community before. Do you believe in reincarnation??? So I become extremely interested and tried to learn more about all the aspect of the Shaker furniture. I think this book has solved many questions I had and put in my mind many ideas. The drawings, in particular, are extremely clear and accurate and made with a loving care. After having seen this book I' m working to a sewing desk and to a woodworking bench in Shaker style. Certainly I didn't regret the money! Antonello Ruscazio - Sardinia Island - Italy
A nice collection of shaker furniture with some plans.......1998-08-24
A great book to show customers. Includes a paragraph detailing each peice, a wonderful history of the shakers and their furniture, overall dimensions, and plans for a limited number of pieces. This book could use some color photos plans for each peice and more detail in the plans, but that was not necessarly the aim of the book, though it achieved what it meant to do well. When reading this book, one feels the struggle shaker cabinet makers were engaged in between simplicity and "the world".
Great detail of Shaker lifestyle and furniture with drawings.......1996-09-29
A classic work on the Shaker community and furniture. Kassay's
hand-drawn plans of specific furniture items reflect great detail
while remaining relatively easy to follow. Logical organizaton of
the content with excellent references. A "must have" for any
serious woodworkers interested in or having respect for the Shaker
lifestyle. Much deeper content than softcovers on the subject.
Customer Reviews:
Great book.......2005-05-19
I'm obsessed with Shaker furnitue and architecture. I'll get around to reviewing all of my books in time. I think I have every Shaker book printed!
This one isn't "Complete" but there's an aweful lot in here. I look at "complete" more or less as meaning "most" variety of furniture. I didn't take it literally.
This is one book that gives a lot of weight to Shaker built-ins as well. Of which I'm trying to re-create so I've been referencing this book a lot lately.
I do have other books, some of which focus more on details and drawings with potential variety in drawer configurations for example, others more on color and simple photos etc.
So far it 's been one of my favorites in terms of the wide variety of material it contains. An overall wonderful photo and text reference to existing furniture.
Excellent book, beautiful pictures; but see my warning below.......1999-01-18
Probably because it is one of the newer books on Shaker furniture, this one seems to be the most accurate on the provenance of the many surviving Shaker items. It appears they have done an excellent job of deciphering where a piece was made regardless which village it was found.
THERE IS WARNING HOWEVER! Don't be fooled by what they mean by "The Complete Book." They use the word complete to mean, that in addition to covering the "Shaker Golden Years" of 1830 to around 1850, they have included items from the 18th to the 20th century.
With approximately 400 beautiful illustrations, they can't possibly cover every important piece of Shakerdom. To my disappointment, they did not discuss the particular 12 to 20 foot benches of two slightly differing styles that I have seen pictured in the meeting room at Sabathday Lake. Nor did they show the small wall clock at Sabathday Lake that I wanted to know about.
The authors certainly accomplished their goals of descibing the various, differing forms used by the different locatations over the approximate 150 years covered.
For me the final test is, would I buy it again -- Abosolutely.

Shaker Furniture.......2000-06-24
As an amature woodworker interested in plans and methods for building Shaker style furniture, I found this book very informative. It includes precise instructions for building two Shaker style chairs, a bench, three tables, a pie safe, a clock, a step stool, oval boxes and a pegboard. It also includes directions for making jigs to simplify the the construction of several of the projects. The jig for routing dovetails for a candlestand collumn while it is still on the lathe was shown in greater detail than I have seen before. The diagrams and illustrated step-by-step instrctions are easy to understand and show construction details that mere measured drawings do not. For instance, the methods for hanging a drawer and attaching a table top were especially interesting to me since they were a little different than what I commonly see. This is a book written for amature woodworks like myself who appreciate well documented plans for interesting and usefull pieces of furniture.

Incredible Photography in Bowman's Shaker Style.......2001-01-02
Bowman's "Shaker Style" is one of the more beautiful samplers of Shakerism that I have seen. The extra large pages, 10 by 14 inches, contains many photos by knowledgeable Shaker scholars and photographers: Paul Rocheleau and James Archambeault.
Bowman has included a good sampling of buildings from Shaker villages at Hancock MA, Canterbury NH, Sabbathday Lake, Pleasant Hill KY and South Union KY.
Some of perennial favorites shown are the nearly identical meeting houses built by Moses Johnson in the late 1700's at Hancock, Canterbury and Sabbathday Lake. Also included are the great round barn at Hancock and several family residences at the five featured villages.
The furniture includes many items from private collections as well as items in the Shaker museums. Again, the photography is beautiful.
If you are interested in the Shaker's ingenious devices, Bowman devotes 25 pages of outstanding photographs of tools, looms, spinning wheels and other Shaker items.
The history of the Shakers is about average but interesting. Bowman obviously has done a good job of research. He identified where all pictures were taken but most descriptions of the items do not include the community or date of origin.
