This book will leave you hanging,simple as that. So thank God I read the following sequels after this book.But real talk this book wasnt THAT good like how I was expecting it to be, The characters were under developed,certain scenes and story lines were incomplete and all over the place,etc..etc...etc...I am trying to remain a loyal fan of Wahida Clark's books but it is really getting hard with these half a** unrealistic novels!! The beginning started off really good but as it got closer to the middle and end of the book the worse the story got,no details or nothing! Sorry but true!

I acquired this book from the public library. When I found out there were two sequels, I hurried to the closest book store to purchase them. I also enjoyed the interview at the end of this book. Keep up the good work, Wahida!

Crowner John at His Best.......2005-02-01
December 1194 and Crowner John is away from Exeter in his capacity as Coroner of all Devon. He is called to the remains of a shipwreck in Torbay, but not everything is as it seems. Bodies from the wreck have been found among the debris and some of them carry injuries not conducive to being drowned.
While Sir John is away with Gwyn his bodyguard and his clerk Thomas de Peyne, trouble is brewing in Exeter, a rape has been committed on Christina Rifford, the daughter of a rich merchant. Sir John returns to Exeter to find the city in uproar with accusations flying around from the families involved. Then just before she is due to be married Lady Adele de Courcy is found dead underneath a pile of rubbish in the poorest part of the City. She also appears to have suffered a sexual attack. Suddenly Sir John has most of the influential people of Exeter banging on his door for justice.

Cystic fibrosis is the most common genetic disease in the country and it is incurable. The lungs of people with cystic fibrosis become covered with a sticky mucus making them extremely susceptible to bacterial infection. Over time these infections badly scar the lungs, until eventually they stop functioning. The defective CF gene is harmless when only a single copy of the gene is inherited. However, if both parents carry the gene, this will give any child they may have a 25% chance of being born with cystic fibrosis.
The health of a person suffering from CF will deteriorate to such an extent that they requires oxygen 24 hours a day and have only months to live. Although, they are put on the waiting list for a donor lung, with 50% of patients dying while waiting to receive a transplant, their chances are not good. A controversial new operation pioneered by Professor Magdi Yacoub at Harefield Hospital, is a technique known as Living Donor Lung Transplantation. This would involve removing the diseased lungs and, in an extraordinary three-way operation, replacing them with a lobe from one of the lungs of two relatives. There have been six of these groundbreaking operations carried out already. However, only three patients have lived longer than a month. There is a clear moral dilemma--with such a low success rate, is it ethical to put the lives of two healthy people at risk? Even if the operation is initially successful it may only give the patient five more years to live, by which time the new lungs are likely to fail again. While relatives of the patient, feel compelled to do anything they can to save their dying loved one, undergo stringent tests before being certain that they are compatible donors and fit for surgery. They will have to face the risk of hemorrhaging and infection, both of which could potentially be fatal. After the operation both donors will be left with a 20-25% permanent loss of lung function. Despite these dangers, most remain determined to proceed.
In the most recent procedure, all three of the patients(two donors and one with CF) are wheeled in for the 12-hour operation. A day later, the patient with CF is breathing with new lungs, but it is not long before complications arise. The patient is unable to absorb food and develops an abscess on the lung. The patient is kept under sedation and so is unaware of these complications. Sadly, three weeks after the operation, the patient loses the fight for life.

This book accurately describes the disease cystic fibrosis (CF) and offers guidance in self-management on day to day problems. As a mother of a son who has CF, I highly recommend this book to any family dealing with CF.

I eagerly await the 3rd edition of this book. As a fully involved CF parent, my 8y/o daughter's care has benefited from my increased knowledge. I can form theories and question her caregivers from a more informed perspective and that is a win-win situation. If you have a child with CF, you should have this book. I call it the CF Bible.(Although encyclopedia would be a more accurate description.) I feel this book should be given to the parents of all newly diagnosed children.

Im a teenager and was diagnosed with CF when I was born in 1989.
It was recently that I wanted to do some more reading on my disease. I looked through some books and was shocked by what I was reading. As many of you know, the out-of-date books on CF can have some very frightening information, like death and more infections, and etc. It was I discovered this book that I was so much more relaxed about my condition. This book is up-to-date and tells the real facts about this disease. After reading this, my disease doesn't scare me anymore.
If you are a teen, like me, I suggest you read thid.
If you know anybody with CF, you should read this book or have them read this. Don't let them read those early books on CF with the grim facts...have them read this with the true and helpful facts.

I am a big fan of Paul Newman, the actor, and also Paul Newman the food mogul. Mr. Newman's salad dressings, sauces, popcorn and especially his lemonade are among the best products on the market. As an added bonus, all the after tax profits go to charity. This cookbook provides many of Mr. Newman's recipes as well as the type of humorous writing that appear on the labels of his products. In addition to Mr. Newman's recipes, such stars as Nicole Kidman and Matthew Broderick supply recipes. A fun book, the recipes are simple to follow and make and all the money goes to a good cause.
Real Food from Real People.......2002-01-22
I did not originally acquire this book for the food--I did it because it was a good cause and I grew up in the vicinity of the authors--but in the end, it's about the food. While there are pictures of the celebrity authors and contributors, they are infrequent, black and white candids. Newman and Hotchner let the food take the stage and it is the stuff of fun evenings with friends. While some recipes call for Newman's Own products, it is always stated that cooks may substitute another choices. There is some originality to the dishes--consider making a custard with lemonade instead of milk or baking a cake made with pasta sauce. The directions are simple, the food pleasantly earthy. The selection is a bit idiosyncratic but carnivores and vegetarians will find suitable selections. Not bad at all.

when i get a cookbook, i'm thrilled to find a handful of recipes to add to my "i love it" collection. this is truly the first cookbook where i can only exclude a few recipes from the "i love it" collection. i love almost every single recipe in the book. what a surprise from paul newman and a.e. hotchner. i never gave the actor the credit for being able to cook. i might even try some of his products now.

The first book was fine, but..........1999-11-06
A better title for this book should be "Kiss and Tell - the Feedback". Although there are a few new stories (most of them contributed by guest writers), the bulk of the book is comprised of e-mail that the author got about the first book and descriptions of radio interviews he gave. If you liked the first book and you're a diehard Kiss fan, you'll find the sequel(?)rather enjoyable. But don't even think of buying it without reading the original "Kiss and Tell" first.

whoa!gordon,gordon,gordon. With the "ace/peter incident" you just drove well into the more than I needed to know country.But, as you say,it is your book. However,acefans,none the less,even if you are angry at gordon for this,you must read the part about ace having "to go" at the boxing match.I about died laughing.I'm sorry,but for those of us who have withstood long lines at concerts/events,somebody should give Ace a medal and a few "attaboy"s for that one.
