Customer Reviews:
Great Alone, Not so great trilogy.......2007-09-01
After reading the first two books I was very happy with my purchase. The story was great, the imagery was good, and it was deffinately controversial. The author doesn't hold back with the devistations that plague the earth wich makes it completely believable. I'd say worth reading except for the fact that I don't want to promote the third.
BeauSeigneur's Books Are a New Twist.......2006-07-28
I have read a lot of end-time books over the years, and I find Christ Clone Trilogy to be the best I have read. There are twists and new ways of seeing things all through his books. I have just finished the 3rd book of the trilogy after reading the other two and have found them more interesting and scarier than the Left Behind Series which I thought was a bit predictable and became somewhat boring. Not so these books! These books will make you think in a different way.
Continued logical but at points too detailed.......2006-06-15
The characters in the second book of the Christ Clone trilogy continued to develop well and in interesting ways. There is also a slight narrowing down of their numbers. The political possibilities are also flow logically. But the science starts to be too detailed and not cited especially with the first asteroid. We are still left wondering who is good and who is evil though those familar with the New Testament and Old Testament will figure it out faster.
Excellent!.......2006-06-10
Unlike the Left Behind series, Beauseigneur's depiction of the end times is presented in a way that is wholly plausable. Evil is shown as it truly is; subtle, bait & switch. His scientific explanations of the disasters as described in the Book of Revelation remove the mystery and show that yes, this can happen just as the Apostle John said it would. I recommend all three books in the series.
This definitely explains a fair amount of book 1..........2006-05-24
Since I was stressed out about some work stuff last night (and didn't end up getting any sleep), I plowed through the second book in the Christ Clone trilogy... Birth Of An Age by James Beauseigneur. I can definitely say it's better than the first one, and the story is starting to come together...
This volume picks up with the last chapter of the first book. Christopher Goodman, the person cloned from the cells found on the Shroud of Turin, has just finished his 40 days of solitude in the wilderness, and he's now ready to go back to the UN and start making changes. But on their way back to New York, a nuclear war erupts between India and Pakistan (and involves part of China), and many millions die. But that's just the start of the deaths. John the Apostle and Rabbi Cohen are prophesying major catastrophes (the ones normally associated with the Book of Revelations), and they start coming true. We have meteors devastating the planet, locusts, wide-spread madness, and poisoned water. Goodman sees these two individuals as necessary evil for mankind to advance to a new age of enlightenment, and he increasingly finds himself pitted against them. Right as he's poised to take over leadership of the UN, an assassin guns him down. But through miraculous events, he's resurrected and heads to Jerusalem to have a final confrontations with the prophets. Goodman declares himself the "anti-Christ" at that point, and has an interesting twist on the whole God/Satan conflict...
This book was somewhat shorter than the first one, and a lot of time is spent describing the natural disasters in fine detail. In fact, you go for long stretches with no mention whatsoever of Decker and Goodman. I was starting to wonder quite a bit about the theology of this series until the end of this book. Now things are more clear, and I'm following the general storyline. While still not the best End Times book/series I've ever read, it's starting to redeem itself...
Book Description
Fred Taylor, a veteran of unspecified clandestine services that have caused him to spend hard times in Southeast Asia, finds himself at loose ends in Boston. A late-night chance encounter in the city's Beacon Hill area throws his lot in with eccentric art collector Clayton Reed. Reed has been tricked by a young man as unscrupulous as he is ignorant into examining and considering for purchase a collection of paintings whose presence in the U.S. seems, at best, informal.
Fred, sensing Reed's naiveté in matters of personal security, volunteers to guarantee that security at the same time as Reed's acumen as a connoisseur astounds Fred. How could Reed just walk away from the situation with what he later gloatingly describes as "a prize worth more than the gross domestic product of Bulgaria."
What Reed has purchased appears to be a painting by one of the most important artists of the Italian Renaissance. But is it what it seems
Can The Madonna of the Apes be a forgery
How did it come to be, so quietly, in Boston
These questions propel Reed and Fred into an increasingly murderous tangle, guided only by the assurances of a sequence of art dealers who lie as easily as they withhold the truth about the painting, its true nature, and its history.
Nicholas Kilmer is the author of five previous Fred Taylor art mysteries.
Customer Reviews:
Interesting Art, Less Interesting Plot.......2006-03-21
Although Madonna of the Apes is the 6th book in this series, the book's subject goes back to when the two regular protagonists, Fred Taylor and Clayton Reed, first met. Since I hadn't read any of the other books in the series, this seemed like a good time to dip my toe into the water.
As the book opens, Fred Taylor finds himself awakening to a situation that doesn't seem quite right. It seems like a large snake has slithered over him . . . bringing back bad memories of protecting his rice from rats. Eventually, he finds the situation isn't quite as threatening as it seems . . . but there's also a mystery. Who is his companion?
From there, Taylor heads out in the middle of the night to get some fresh air. Torn over where to go, he stumbles onto an older man helping a younger man down the street. Suddenly, the younger man attacks the older man. Taylor steps in and settles everyone down. The older man is a local art collector, Clayton Reed. Once inside the younger man's apartment, life turns bizarre. The walls are covered with what seem to be valuable paintings. Reed expresses interest, but also negotiates for an old chest. Pulling out his money belt, cash changes hands. Taylor carries the chest for Reed.
With that opening, we enter into a world of international nastiness that reminded me at times of The Maltese Falcon.
The first 50 pages of this book are extremely slow going except for the first three pages . . . which although active, are totally formulaic. After about 100 pages, the book picked up enough steam to be an average mystery. From there, the artistic speculations and observations started to make the book move above average. When not dealing directly with artistic questions, the book is amateurish in its plotting and development.
A delicious concoction.......2005-12-14
Take one eccentric, down at heels detective, mix with a cast of colorful, offbeat characters, toss in a crash course in art history and forgery, add a soupcon of homicide and sex and you have Nicholas Kilmer's latest installment in the Fred Taylor mystery series. The plot, which has more twists than a barrel of pretzels, turns on the question of whether a painted chest, of dubious origin, is or is not a creation of Leonardo Da Vinci. A delight for various ages and tastes.

stupendous sixth Taylor-Reed collaboration .......2005-10-14
In Boston, Good Samaritan Clayton Reed tries to help his drunken companion to his home. Another passerby Fred Taylor comes along and helps. At the apartment, Fred, a former overseas operative, takes charge as he knows the drunk was pulling scam on the innocent Clayton and takes over the situation. The phony drunk is a Franklin from Atlanta and he has some interesting art, if genuine, in his place that should probably not be in the United States. Franklin says he has something truly special coming in to his possession in a few days; the tantalizer hooks art collector Clayton who agrees to return.
As they leave, Fred asks Clayton if he is nuts. He responds in kind by hiring Fred to provide him security. A few days later, they are shown a Renaissance masterpiece MADONNA OF THE APES that could have be an original Renaissance masterpiece. Though having doubts on its' authenticity, related murders occur that seem to affirm that this painting is indeed a lost treasure worth dying for.
The stupendous sixth Taylor-Reed collaboration is a prequel to the previous art mysteries by occurring at the beginning when they first met and formed their employer-employee relationship. The tale is terrific as the art expert and the former agent work to learn if MADONNA OF THE APES is authentic and uncover who is murdering those associated with the painting. Taylor receives a first hand lesson in art appreciation as dealers willingly lie to make a sale. Nicholas Kilmer refreshes his delightful series with a wonderful "first" tale.

A shame to read this book.......2004-05-12
This book had an interesting idea (human summoned by wizard into another world as a demon), but I think it's been done before and done better. Some of the characters were interesting and the author has a great imagination. But the story was slow and the writing was just awful.
He should've kept his name to himself.......2000-05-08
As if stock characters, stock plot, and a plodding pace weren't enough, Mr. Aamodt's amateurish style makes this paperback a long, long, long 265 pages that should have been about 30. Mr. Aamodt takes no interest in such piddling matters as relevance, consistency, point-of-view, or tone. There are long passages that do nothing to advance what little story there is; the main character has a "sixth sense" that follows no rules other than the author's whim; and the style is so riddled with cute cliches and tired expressions it makes one long for the fresh witticisms of a high school detention hall. There's a cover blurb from Craig Shaw Gardner, but Mr. Gardner seems to have taken the Stephen King route: supply the blurb, cash the check, and thank God he didn't actually have to read the thing. The only good I can say about "A Name to Conjure With" is that it is better than its sequel.
Amazing book that no one seems to have heard of........1999-06-21
I love this book and I cannot believe that it is out of print. If you see this book snatch it up.
Unusual allies take down a god!!!.......1998-09-25
The story is great i found that the use of characters as unusual allies was outstanding. The distrust factor was unusual and that the book is out of print just makes it more unique and hard for people to find! i found the book to be hard to put down and read it from cover to cover.-B. Street

Customer Reviews:
Great Beginners Book.......2007-06-18
This is a great book for beginners. Not as in depth as The Complete Homeopathy Handbook (by Miranda Castro), but a very good book for beginners. Very well organized and put together for simplification on finding the correct remedy for the proper ailment.
BEWARE the 5-stars!!!.......2007-04-09
This may be an ok book, BUT BEWARE ... One of the few reviews is from the books author! And he gives his own book 5-stars! As well as shamelessly self-promoting sales of his own medicines, in addition to his book!!!
BUYER BEWARE ... THIS AUTHOR IS DISINGENUOUS!!!
Excellent Beginning Book for Family Homeopathy.......2004-12-30
I highly recommend this book to those who want to learn more about homeopathy through practice. The book lives up to its description: most readers will be able to spend a couple hours with the book and begin using it. The companion medicine kit adds tremendous value to the book, and its supplier is reliable and helpful; in fact, I believe that we would have found it frustrating had we not bought the kit because most of the remedies the book recommends are in the kit; you do not have to go out when you are sick to get several remedies that you think you might need as you work through the illness. In addition, the kit is compact and very economical compared to buying remedies in stores.
My family has used this book for several years, and it has enabled us to achieve some remarkable healing. Before using this book, we had tried to use Boericke's Materia Medica, but we found that it had too much information without providing a framework to integrate and apply the information. This book's great achievement is that it is written from the perspective of someone who wants to learn by experimenting. It doesn't try to teach the reader homeopathy, but the reader learns through practice.
I was compelled to buy the book when I saw that it compared, side by side, different remedies within the rubric of a malady like "common cold," "teething," "hay fever," "coughs and bronchitis," or "burns." Therefore, it is possible to compare and contrast different remedies within the context of physical and mental symptoms. It also provides all the basic information about homeopathy and guidelines you need to know, like dosages and how homeopathic care relates to over the counter allopathic medicine and herbal remedies. I also recommend buying the Materia Medica because it contains more detailed information on each remedy (when you need it or are curious about it).
It is truly a guide to family homeopathy. Virtually all common injuries and illnesses that we have experienced (parents and child) are covered in the book in a straightforward manner. It has travelled around the world with us. It is a tremendous service to people who want to participate in and manage their healing.
Homeopathy is a completely different approach to healing than the "traditional" allopathic approach. You have to learn to think differently about what illness means and how to heal by restoring balance by using remedies. It is very complex and difficult to approach as a layperson, and you will not succeed all the time, but the satisfaction of healing when you nail the right remedy is fantastic! The more you practice, the more you will succeed. This book's gift is that it enables the motivated reader to develop a skill that will return a lifetime of benefit.
We wrote the book on homeopathic self-care........2001-05-19
If you are considering using homeopathic medicine for yourself and your family, by all means try it! This book is one of the easiest ways to get started. You will find how to gather the information from your friend or family member that you need to select a homeopathic medicine that has a high probability of working and helping to alleviate or cure a minor illness or first-aid condition quickly and easily. We designed this book to be a godsend to parents of a screaming two year old in the middle of the night. Its companion Homeopathic Self-care Medicine Kit, (order form in the back of the book), puts the remedies you need at your fingertips. If you don't believe that homeopathy works, try this book and put it to the test. We think it will change your mind.
Brilliantly organized, easy to use self care guide........2000-10-27
Like the title of the book says this is a self-care guide. It is the best book I've seen so far on treating common, acute ailments using homeopathic remedies - and I've read quite a few.
In the front of the book is a wonderful explanation of how homeopathic remedies work. Next, they've organized the book by various common ailments - everything from the common cold to poison ivy.
Each ailment section contains easy to use, step by step instructions for evaluating symptoms and choosing a remedy. Including a handy chart listing several possible remedies and the various indications for it. You use these charts to examine both your physical and emotional state and what makes you feel better or worse. Based upon this information, you choose the remedy that best fits your symptoms.
These charts are effective for personal treatment or treatment of family and friends. I like to let my family look at the chart and pick the remedy they think they need.
I don't think you'll find a more easy to use homeopathic self-care reference book anywhere.

Lots of good recipes in here.......2001-05-19
I found this book very good. One of the best recipes is the pizza. It may be hard to believe you can make GOOD pizza in the bush, but I have cooked it numerous times for my family, and they ask for it everytime we camp out. The dessert recipes have been good as well. This is a good book for someone like me that is just learning how to cook good food out of what you carry on your back.
Where is the beef?.......2000-08-23
Was highly disapointed after reading the recipes in Backpacker Magazine and then not finding them, nor similar items in the book. I was impressed with and interested in hardtack and corn dodgers, which neither one appears in the book. Also, a more complete title of the book includes "Gourmet Cuisine", had I known that at the time I probably would not have orderd it. I just want to get by with the basics and do not care about a five star meal. I eat to live , not live to eat. James
