Book Description
Nancy Atherton's growing number of fans will certainly be delighted by Aunt Dimity's latest appearance in the honey-colored English cottage she bequeathed to her "niece," Lori Shepherd. Thanks to Aunt Dimity, Lori's life has taken on fairy-tale proportions: she's financially set for life and happily married--or so she thinks. When Lori's plans for a second honeymoon to England with her workaholic husband fall through, she begrudgingly takes along her father-in-law--who promptly disappears, leaving behind a mysterious note. Inspired and guided by the ghost of Aunt Dimity and her inimitable blue journal, Lori's search for the elderly gentleman turns into a harrowing mission to uncover a centuries-old family secret--complicated by mistaken identities, falsified deeds, family feuds, and Lori's unseemly attraction to her husband's beguiling English cousin. In a delightful chase that takes her all over the English countryside, Lori discovers the true meaning of marital bliss, and Nancy Atherton's fans, new and old, will savor a masterpiece of old-fashioned fun.

Here's Looking Up the Old Family Tree.......2007-05-15
In this the third entry in the Aunt Dimity series both of the central families finally unite to solve a mystery. In the first book we were introduced to Lori Shepherd and the Willis clan and in the second we meet Emma and her family. The author uses the first two books to set up the friendship and collaboration between these two families that will apparently be the hallmark of the series from here on out. Because of that and the fact that the author takes very little time to explain what had happened previous to this book I would highly recommend that anyone new to the series start with the first book and go forward from there.
As this book opens Lori has been planning a second honeymoon for her and her husband Bill but at the last minute he cancels and she is instead to be accompanied by her father-in-law to her English cottage. Lori is obviously not happy with the situation and she soon finds that Bill, Sr. isn't too happy with her husband either. She doesn't find this out though until Bill, Sr. disappears and she is left wondering how in the world she could have lost her father-in-law.
What follows is a merry old chase across England as Lori and Emma's delightful step-daughter Nell try to catch up with Bill, Sr. as he digs into Willis family history and threatens to open up a can of worms that Aunt Dimity has warned would better be left closed. As the two travel they pick up clues not only about the whereabouts of the missing Willis but also about the family mystery that Aunt Dimity warned about. The whole chase is great fun as the two bloodhounds always come up just short of finding their query but despite their bad luck they meet some very interesting members of the Willis family.
By the time that the book ends it turns out that there were several mysteries that had to be solved and in the end they all are tied up very nicely. One small mystery that runs through the entire book is one that everyone except the person it most involves has figured out long before the end and if you read carefully you will figure it out too.
This author has a great talent for running several threads along through the book that may or may not have anything to do with the main plot but in the end she always makes it work. The characters are great fun and Aunt Dimity's appearances, although rare always liven things up. Aunt Dimity by the way is a ghost who communicates by writing in a notebook and in one instance she uses up several pages while chewing out one of the central characters. The writing in this book as in the previous two is highly imaginative and it doesn't take long for this author to draw you completely in to her story. So much so that it is often very hard to put the book down. I hope that Aunt Dimity will be around to keep me company for a long time to come.
As Comforting As A Stuffed Bunny.......2006-07-25
Though it is the third in the series, it is the last one that I read and I am going through withdrawal symptoms. I read all the books out of order, starting with Aunt Dimity and the Next of Kin, and it really doesn't matter because each one of these books is complete in itself. However, it was fun seeing how the characters came together originally and their histories. If someone had described this series to me, I would have thought it a bit twee. After all, what adult or adolescent child carries around their favorite stuffed animal and even talks to it and about it as if it were alive. But somehow Nancy Atherton gets away with it and I can't wait to read the next installment.
Aunt Dimity's Good Deed.......2005-04-25
The third book in the Aunt Dimity series, Aunt Dimity's Good Deed has been my favorite so far. They seem to keep getting better as the series continues. I rated it 3 stars, but 3.5 is a closer rating for me. I truly enjoyed the book and finished it in a weekend.
We find Lori back again in this book, 2 years after Aunt Dimity's Death. A new family mystery has her travelling in England and meeting many new members of the Willis family. With her trusty sidekicks,Nell and Reginald, she goes in search of Willis, Sr. who has disappeared!
These cozy mysteries keep me coming back to the Aunt Dimity series. Although I always read series in order, each of these books stand apart quite well.
Fun, Fun, Fun!!!.......2001-06-13
What a great series! More fun than one could expect from a book. And, love the recipes in each book!
Aunt Dimity's Good Deed.......2001-05-08
I just "found" this series of books and have now read 4 and find them to be delightful. This is a well written book but easy to read. It's like going on a vacation.

Book Description
The knights templar
They were warrior monks, dedicated to the protection of pilgrims in the Holy Land -- until an avaricious king savagely destroyed the order. One knight, however, escaped the stake, vowing justice for his murdered brothers.
A gathering of evil
With scores of merchants streaming into Devon to participate in the Tavistock fair of 1319, a goodly amount of unlawful activity is expected. No one, however, anticipates a murder. The guests of Abbot Robert Champeaux, former Knight Templar Sir Baldwin Furnshill and Simon Puttock, bailiff of Lydford, have been asked by their host to investigate the grisly discovery of a headless corpse by a local butcher. Hunting a killer in the din and bustle of the fair could prove a daunting task, especially with the victim's identity a mystery. But Sir Baldwin and Simon are determined to unravel the complex weave of intrigue, rage, and violence that has brought death to Tavistock -- even if it means courting their own destruction.
Customer Reviews:
An enjoyable book in a delightful series.......2007-10-09
First Sentence: The sun was almost unbearably hot, the journey distinctly uncomfortable.
It is 1319 and people have come from all over to attend the Tavistock fair. Sir Baldwin Fernshill, Keeper of the King's Peace, and Simon Puttock, bailiff of Lydford have come as guests of Abbot Robert Champeaux. When a headless body is found, the Abbott asks Baldwin and Simon to investigate.
Jecks has become a favorite author of mine and I really liked this book. The sense of time and place is wonderful. The plot is interesting and kept me guessing. There's good suspense, a hint of romance and even a good chase scene, albeit on horseback. There are great characters that are fully developed to the point where I feel involved in the lives of the main characters and want to keep following their lives. This was another very enjoyable book in a delightful series.
The Fifth in The Series.......2006-08-21
This is the fifth book in Michael Jeck's entertaining Knights Templar Mysteries. The main characters Sir Baldwin de Furnshill, Keeper of the King's Peace and his friend the Bailiff Simon Puttock are now old friends to the reader. Combine the inter action between the main characters with the beautiful background of west country Devon and it is obvious that Michael Jecks is on to a winner with his increasingly popular books.
Medieval novels are becoming increasingly popular with the reading public and there are a number of well written books by authors such as Paul Doherty, Bernard Knight, Susanna Gregory, to name but a few. Michael Jecks is steadily getting himself on a par with these fine novelists.
Sir Baldwin de Furnshill and his close friend the Bailiff Simon Puttock are visiting Tavistock, as guests of the Abbot, intending to enjoy the fair and all the town has to offer. Responsible for justice in the area, the Abbot enlists the help of his friends when a headless body is found. But there is one big problem. How can they identify the victim without first finding the head?
Product Description
Set of 3 paperbacks, books 4 thru 6, in the Knights Templar series: The Credition Killings, The Abbot's Gibbet, & The Leper's Return.

A book of two parts.......2003-06-27
It's a story about a group of adventurers (main character Stefan Kumansky) escorting a princess to the Kislevite city of Erengrad where she is to be wed to a prince. The namesake of the novel (the Star of Erengrad) is this relic that plays an important role in the tale (a role I will not mention here so as not to give away important plot elements).
The first part of the novel (roughly, the first 100 pages or so) is pretty good. We are introduced to the characters, the adventure begins in haste, and things are off to a good start. Until the time arrives to introduce to the reader to the characters on the side of "Chaos". At this point, the novel shifts back and forth between good guys and bad guys, and the pace slows terribly, the characters on the chaos side aren't that interesting, and main character (Stefan Kumansky) literally drops off the radar screen. He becomes so unimportant in the development of the story that his sudden appearance near the end begs the question of where he's been the whole time. The ending itself, though a good ending for the novel, was a bit too sappy for my tastes.
So, it's a book of two parts: one good, one bad, but overall it's a bit unbalanced.

Not impressive..........2006-03-22
I bought this in the hopes that I could make some yummy meals for my family that weren't loaded down with sugar or fats. I can't say this cookbook provides the best recipes for those needs. It was well organized and planned out but several of the recipes shouldn't be falling under the healthy category. Refined sugar (white) should never have a place in a health-based cookbook. That's just one of the examples. It was okay, but I'd see if your local library has if first.
Two thumbs up!s.......2004-12-02
It's a great book. I liked how they divided the book into different sections for each region. This is more than just a recipe book. It has other useful information about chosing different types of meats, vegetables, ect. Great book. It would be a perfect gift for anyone on your Christmas list!

Customer Reviews:
Destined to be a classic. Best game cookbook I've seen........1998-05-08
Much more than a cookbook. I've bought plenty of cookbooks on wild game over the years but never tried any of the recipes. Most are in black and white with nothing more than recipes. With the stories and the fabulous pictures, this one really got me excited. I 've read the book twice already and have been more than pleased with the recipes I've tried. Super job. Can't wait to get the entire collection of Eileen's work. . Here in South Louisiana men do most of the cooking of wild game. Wild game suppers are a major social event. Each cook tries to outdo the other. When you start to here cajun cooks talking about Eileen's book, what better endorsement can one get. C'est Bon.

Thoughtful and thorough design guide.......2004-06-07
This book offers detailed ideas about how to coordinate colors and make really beautiful quilts. The design ideas are presented in a straightforward way and seem relatively easy to implement, yet it's a 'meaty' text with plenty to think about.
Fun, clear and concise.......2003-10-14
This book opens up your eyes to color. I love the way the author has used photos of buildings with interesting color combinations to show us examples of various color schemes. The color wheels shown with each quilt throuhout the book help to explain the use of color and aid in expanding ones sense of adventure with color. The quilts shown in the book are fun and appear to be easy. I love seeing several examples of the same quilt, but carried out with different color schemes and different layouts. I would like to make each one of the quilts in the book!

Worship 101.......2001-10-28
Willaim Cosgrove is probably an excellent fireman, good husband and father, etvc. But he is not even a fair writer. Hired to be Robert De Niro's technical assitant for the making of the movie Backdraft, Cosgrove's prose resembles that of a love-sick tween describing a back-stage encounter with a pop music star. Other than knowing that De Niro is famous, and that movies are made, Cosgrove shows no deeper knowledge of his subjects than was presented to him during this experience. Thus, no analysis or depth - strictly a chronological narrative, without any insights.
Fantastic.......2000-08-09
Brother Bill Cosgrove did an excellent job when writing this book. What an experience he must have had.
Gritty firefighter meets Hollywood icon........1999-03-28
Bill Cosgrove's recounts his friendship with Robert DeNiro and the movie Backdraft in his first book, "Robert Deniro and the Fireman". Bill tells us about meeting the famous actor, and eventually he is hand picked to be DeNiro's technical advisor for the movie. We follow the pair around the streets of Chicago, to the different places Backdraft was filmed at. Bill tells us where many of the scenes were shot at, and what its like to be on a movie set. But most of all, it tells of a friendship- one that brought a regular firefighter together with one of Hollywood's famous actors, and a pair of socks.
