This was a good book. Now that I have read several of Kresley Cole's books I can say I just like her style and LOVE her sex scenes. She's the best when it comes to that. I could use just a bit more humor in her books but overall this is a good book if you like sexual tension, possessive men and steamy love scenes.

The book had me smiling in the beginning, bored in the middle and anxious for an end by the conclusion.
Nicole has to sail their ship the Bella Nicola after her father lands in jail for fighting with their strongest competition, our tortured-hero the Earl Derrick Sutherland. Tempers and passions flare between Nicole and Derrick as they vie for position and advantage.
I found the beginning very fun, the middle sort of dragged after Derrick incarcerates Nicole, but Nicole is also at her best here, and very fun to read.
The conclusion - though happy - I thought could have been better crafted and not so blatantly set up for a sequel with Grant, which I already wanted to read about without the 2 chapters ending with a focus on Grant.
I was surprised to see the hero and heroine on equal footing by the end of the novel. Usually one or the other sacrifices way too much to meet the other's demands for being together.
Overall, a very fun romance.

Kresley Cole's debut novel is the story of a seafaring captain who is running away from his position as an earl by attempting to sail from London to Sydney and win the Great Circle Race. Captain Derek Stanhope has responsibilities and a family in London that he would rather forget; instead, he drowns these thoughts in whiskey and focuses on captaining his ship. All is going well until he falls for the daughter of his biggest rival.
Nicole Lassiter is the daughter of an American ship captain and an English heir. Willful, strong, and proud, Nicole believes that she can help her father win in the race from England to Australia. Though her father attempts to leave her at sea, Nicole is determined to be on his ship when it sails. When she meets her father's rival and biggest competition, Captain Stanhope, Nicole is startled by the attraction that sparks between them. Still, she refuses to let passion keep her from winning this race, and assures Derek at every turn that the Lassiters will win this race.
I've been a fan of Kresley Cole since beginning her Immortals After Dark series, and since it takes so long for those books to be released, I thought I'd check out some of her other work. I'm glad that I did. No matter what the storyline: vampires and werewolves, sailing races across the world, Kresley Cole's stories are thoroughly enjoyable and well-plotted. The chemistry between characters is always electric from start to finish and I find myself falling in love with her heroes. The Captain of All Pleasures is no exception. Derek Stanhope is a man you can fall in love with and want for your own. He starts off as a harsh man who drowns his sorrows in drink and is of little use to himself and others. The love he finds with Nicole allows him to change and grow into a man who can care for someone besides himself. I would definitely recommend this book for anyone in the mood for a passionate, well-drawn historical romance with characters you can relate to and enjoy.

This book had scintillating and fun dialogue. The heroine is a spunky and independent character and, although the Captain was a little slow, he was still sexy and interesting.

A fantastic, fast paced, fun and fire hot romance book. Derek is a tall, dark and handsome wealthy Earl who has escaped his duty of producing an heir. For four years he has chosen the high seas, and is the captain of one of his many ships. He is also a proverbial bad boy, has a drinking problem, some dark secrets, and he scares the heck out of most everyone who crosses his path - except Nicole. And her father. Nicole spent most of her life raised at sea by her father, who happens to be Derek's biggest rival. She also has some secrets. The book is a high seas adventure that spans 8 months (or so), and takes the reader on a wild, sexy ride. The chemistry between these two is so fresh and fun. And the lack of trust between these two makes for many interesting twists and turns. Kresley Cole has the greatest talent at writing deeply passionate and sexy romances, and this book delivers! In once scene this author has Derek gagged and tied up, but despite Nicole having the upper hand he is able to seduce her into a very hot and passionate love scene. Well done & HOT!!

"Body Count" is a collection of short stories pertaining to murder. In each story, author Darrell Jones takes us into someone else's life. The outcome is always murder and in most cases it is really wrong, but not always. Some of the murder victims actually deserve to die, like in the case of a young girl that kills her abusive father. In that story, you root for the girl. Sometimes they get caught, but usually they don't. I really enjoyed Jones creative take on this subject. The humor is definitely dark, yet the stories are compelling.
Jones has a gift for taking the reader right into his story. I have not seen this happen with very many short stories that I have read. Usually, the story starts and stops before I am pulled into it. In this book, I was immediately drawn into the plot and was able to clearly see what was going on. I really enjoyed the stories and was amazed at the creative ideas that the author came up with for each plot. Each short story has its own flavor and theme. There are no repetitious sounding stories to bore you. Several of the stories are noted to have received distinctions or recognition in competitions. When you read them, you will understand why.
"Body Count" is only 143 pages. It is the perfect book for someone that doesn't have a lot of time to read but really needs an escape. Because the stories are short, you can finish one and pick the book up at any time in the future and not be lost. It is also a great book to travel with. I think that readers groups would also enjoy discussing these stories. There would definitely be some animated conversations about the creativity in each story. I couldn't help but appreciate the deviousness employed in some of the plots. From start to finish "Body Count" is a winner.

This book is a conglomeration of short stories that are sure to suck you in and keep you on the edge of your seat. If you love murder mysteries, you'll love the way Darrell James pulls you into the characters and their unique personalities. Darrell James consistently crosses the lines of madness and murderous intentions adding a dash of humor for a unique insight into human nature. This collection shows his range, he does not dissapoint. Watch for more work from James, I expect to see future works among the "Bestsellers" lists.

The ending did leave a bit to be desired(but it was loads better than Les Bijoux and Eternity), I did enjoy all the characters and the simple plotline. The humor was interesting, the characters goregous, and the angst a bit.. well I like mine more developed.
A bad ending for a series with potential.......2006-05-13
If you are expecting a good, complete ending for this series, you might not want to look further. The story builds steadily up until this final volume, and then leaves readers empty-handed with a very non-committal ending that does a great disjustice to the series and relationships developed throughout between Yenni and the two young men in her life.
Had I known the story was going to have the loose ends it had and such an unresolved ending, I might not have started reading it.
For manhwa fans, I would suggest Neck and Neck (while I don't yet know the ending, the story in itself seems very promising) instead of Love or Money. Love or Money is entertaining before the end, but the ending in itself is so incomplete that it is enough to leave a bad taste in the mouths of readers who were enjoying it up until then. Any ending is better than no ending at all...and without an ending, this series becomes one that is forgettable rather than the unforgettable one it could have been.

This is the kind of cookbook I like to get my hands on. Indeed, the team of Judy Walker and Kim MacEachern have created another gem. Desert Fish Soup, Cast Iron Pot Brown Stew, Winter Squash Stew, Skillet Enchiladas, Easy Chicken Pot Pie (which is a delectable "no-brainer"), Jalapeno Blue-Corn Muffins and my personal favorite, Lentil Lime Soup, are among the tasty choices this very "hands on" cookbook offers. Those not living in the SW will appreciate receipes for sauces and seasonings!

A fine reference volume, this book is perhaps less valuable in terms of instruction than Liebson's book, but Meilach picks up where Liebson leaves off. Liebson devotes his book entirely to technique -- to the craft of sculpting; only the first third of this book does the same, but with the help of over 350 photos, Meilach instead concentrates on the art of carving. Not so much art theory, but rather considerations of form, volume, and meaning, and how to impart those to your sculpture. Liebson will teach you how to carve; Meilach will help you figure out what to carve. Liebson's book is still #1, but Contemporary Stone Sculpture is its perfect complement.

This guide by the Scrapbook Guild does not have colorful, splashy layouts to study. Rather, it contains solid information for those interested in this growing hobby, with enough inspiration to encourage the reader to create her own unique albums.
Basic terminology and supplies are covered, and principles of good design are thoroughly explained. Several ideas for unique albums are included, such as a reading group album or theater event album. Those readers who feel that only those with kids can create these works of art, take heart. They will find much to compel them to document their own interests as well.

I was pleasantly surprised as to what an interesting read this book is - having bought a copy of this after her second book "Domicillium Decoratus", I wasn't expecting a lot of text. It's not revolutionary, but still an interesting insight to her processes. For those who are fans of Wearstler's style there are lots of photos of completed projects, some I'd previously not seen before - like her old LA apartment, and others of her buying up antiques and art in exotic locations. As a designer, I think this is a good book to add to your reference library. Kelly is a master at combining styles and colours that are seemingly disparate, so it's a great source of inspiration - or even just a bit of eye candy.

Kelly Wearstler's top projects (including her old apartment and her current office) are photographed beautifully and can really provide inspiration if you enjoy her graphic, bold and irreverent style. There's a bit of Dorothy Draper in her aesthetic, in that she too takes classic influences and twists them in a way that is thoroughly modern and completely beautiful. A lovely book.
Are Kelly and Jonathan The Same Person?.......2006-09-27
Is Kelly Wearstler Jonathan Adler in drag? Or vice versa? Both are wildly talented people, who just happen to use the same things in their work, same colors, etc. Jonathan is an artist, who adoringly references and copycats retro pottery, and makes it unqiuely his own. Kelly is a cool chick, good dresser, has tons of style and can make a pretty room out of old glam junk and ideas. I love them both, and their books are worth having. I wish Kelly had more personal rooms. Too many hotel rooms which are very stagey. In the book she says she didn't like doing set design, yet that's what she does - designs sets for cool people like her to inhabit. Hollywood Regency is the word bandied about to describe both Jonathan & Kelly, he sometimes getting the East coast moniker of Palm Beach Style too (and she the West coast of Palm Springs). I say if you shop on eBay you will see all this great junk (just search Hollywood Regency) that I call eBay Regency. Both books give you a few ideas of how to put it together. Jonathan is more playful, Kelly more serious, but both make wonderful, zany, colorful, retro inspired modern human rooms. I think they bring back the words INTERIOR DECORATOR, so refreshing after everyone and his mother is a DESIGNER (used to be everyone's mother was a station wagon driving decorator with a business on the side). I wonder if these two have ever met, and if so do they like one another, or are they really the same person?

Fifteen Minutes of Drama........2006-08-11
This designer clearly aims for exclamations of surprises from viewers. She has an admirable eye for color. But for real class and style, refer to and study truly great and original minds like the late David Hicks, Madeleine Castaing, Jacques Garcia, and the highly intellectual Jacques Grange. Then re-interpret to suit your life and add your own sense drama for a real originality.

When one ones to know the degry of celebrity an artist has earned over the years following her death,just check out the numerous biographies published about the person.SARAH BERNHARDT is the most famous actress of her time;she played many roles of the repertoire ,and she also created many like ROSTAND's L'AIGLON and DUMAS's LA DAME AUX CAMÉLIAS.Like many actresses,she had an eccentric life and she actually made her name with her talent,not her beauty.This book allows you to encounter many important figures like VICTOR HUGO,ALEXANDRE DUMAS,EDMOND ROSTAND and OSCAR WILDE who were part of her life.The book is filled with pictures of the different decades of her life.If you want to read one book about her,this one can satisfy you.Beware of SARAH's memoirs,because it is a well known fact that she enjoyed the art of lying.After reading this,i had this thought.Would SARAH have managed to make the career she had in today's world?My answer is yes,even if in the process,she probably would have cut a few throats of repulsive columnists.
