Poignant Caregiver Stories & Helpful Reference.......2006-08-31
This book combines the latest medical and scientific information with actual stories by caregivers about their experiences and observations caring for loved ones with Alzheimer's. Each experience was unique.
Reading the stories prepared me for what I might expect to see my father go through, and also told of experiences to which I could relate: hey, that happened to me and my dad too! I felt so much less alone.
The chapters of medical information gave me the background necessary to understand this awful disease and the physical changes that my father was experiencing. I highly recommend this book to anyone dealing with Alzheimer's.
THERES STILL A PERSON IN THERE.......2005-05-07
I bought this book because I have an 84 year old father with Alz.
I found it interesting, and not as dry and dull as I had expected. I had a hard time putting it down even though MANY situations describe my family's case very closely and it hit near to my heart.
I recommend this book, even over the 36 HOUR DAY, as very informative. I particularly appreciated the personal stories, but did not care for the technical aspects described. I did learn a lot, and if you are not sure of your "person's" diagnosis, I feel this book just might help you figure out what is wrong. It made me more sure of the dx Alzheimers and skeptical of the dementia diagnosis by some and the nothing wrong diagnosis by other family members.
Good Luck and Lots of Love from me to all who need this book.

Feel Less Alone.......2003-11-30
A great help to anyone starting down the caregiving journey. Caregivers will benefit from reading how other's have survived their caregiving situations. Insights, solutions and practical advise.
In addition, you may want to read my book, Elder Rage, if you are coping with a challenging elder who is starting to show signs of dementia. Both books will help you cope.
Jacqueline Marcell, Author, Elder Rage, and Host of the Internet Radio Program, Coping With Caregiving.
Great Stories.......2003-01-27
The medical information may be out of date now, but the stories are well worth the price of the book.
You think you know Alzheimer's? You don't know Alzheimer's. Read these stories.
Old news.......2002-07-30
I was very disappointed in this book. I didn't gain any new information from it. The information was basically a repeat of everything we already know about Alzheimer's Disease.

Book Description
In her acclaimed novels of suspense, Christine Kling gives readers good reason to believe that if Travis McGee and Kinsey Millhone had ever hooked up, their child would have grown up to be Seychelle Sullivan: a beautiful, savvy heroine with a knack for steering her salvage tugboat into South Florida’s most troubled waters. In Seychelle’s new caper, she may just be in over her head when murder and corruption come bobbing to the surface.
Since kindergarten, Seychelle and her best friend, Molly, had been as close as sisters. Molly even dated Seychelle’s brother. But it all ended suddenly when Nick Pontus, a slick, older, up-and-coming entrepreneur, came along. A smitten Molly quit school, married her new beau, and never spoke to Seychelle again. After thirteen years, it still stings.
Seychelle didn’t see the sniper who picked Nick off at the helm of his yacht, but she knows that there are plenty of people in South Florida who wanted to see the gambling-boat tycoon dead: the Russian mobsters looking for a piece of his casino action, the Indian gamers who resent his competition, and the ecological activists fighting his plans to develop Fort Lauderdale’s waterfront. But it’s Molly whom the cops zero in on. And despite her bitter feelings and against her better judgment, when her back-from-the-blue friend asks for help, Seychelle can’t just weigh anchor and cruise. She’s got to dive in.
What she finds is a money-skimming scam aboard Nick’s flagship gambling boat, Nick’s new trophy wife turned merry rich widow, and Nick and Molly’s teenage son, a scared kid with a big secret . . . and a killer on his
trail. Protecting the boy, proving Molly’s innocence, and navigating between squalls of gunfire add up to a tall order as salvage jobs go. But like any good captain, Seychelle will never abandon ship. Even if it means risking her life.
From the Hardcover edition.

Very well done...........2007-04-12
Christine Kling is getting progressively better with each novel. This is her best, so far. Seychelle is maturing as a tugboat captain and a leading character. Ms. Kling is surely maturing as a writer. I read this novel straight through to the end without stopping, then re-read it again a few days later. Her latest contribution, "Wrecker's Key" has just arrived. So here goes another long night, but I expect it will be worth the effort.
Congratulations, Ms Kling. Keep 'em coming - please!
great series.......2007-03-27
I've just discovered Christine Kling's marine suspense series, set in Ft. Lauderdale...reminiscient of John MacDonald only from a contemporary (and autonomous) woman's perspective...just finishing her most recent Wrecker's Key now/reading leisurely because I know its the last for now...and I know I will be waiting for the next tale in Seychelle's (her central character) narrative. Very well done.
John MacDonald's true heir.......2005-10-09
Like Surface Tension and Cross Current before it, Bitter End is a truly marvelous book about Florida, about life, with plenty of mystery, action, and tension. And, oh, how she nails Florida. Christine Kling is the true heir to John MacDonald. You want to read this one!
Book Description
In many ways Etaoin (et-TA-O-in) is like most of us. He believes that he is destined for greatness. In spite of his beliefs, or perhaps because of them, he repeatedly falls short. He considers himself to be a Master Swordsman especially with his six-foot Great Sword, a Ranger talented in herbs and the lore of the land, and a Magic User without equal. Unfortunately, as so often happens, reality falls short of expectations. Traveling with his friends Damon, Balar the Blue, the ever-beautiful Satin, and Alaska, a gnome, Etaoin embarks on a quest that takes him to another world; a world that mirrors his own. Their quest tests his ability and his spirit. Journey with them as they meet new allies, tread their way across alien land, pass through an encampment of Minotaurs bent on preventing them from completing their quest, and come face to face with an old nemesis.

Great read.......2007-01-27
This is great read for everyone because the information in this book about trans fats is so important to understand. Each one of us needs to take personal responsibility to rid our bodies of trans fats. This book is easy to read and understand in order to make diatary changes.
I'm glad I did!.......2006-04-25
I am a retired nurse and was diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome 15 years ago. I am always looking for something to help the dryness. I first saw Dr. Robert Demaria on TBN and the things he talked about made sense to me. So I bought his book "Dr Bob's Trans Fat Survival Guide". I cut out all trans fat (which takes some time reading labels) and incorporated good fat, including flax oil, in my diet. My eyes are much better, not near so gritty, and I've only been doing this for 2 months.
I did not know the impact trans fat had on your life and as I talk with my friends and family I realize they don't either. This is something that needs to be exposed. It can kill you!
Dr. Bob has a wealth of knowledge in health. He has been a blessing in my life and I'm glad I bought the book!
Life Changing Information.......2006-03-28
The information in this book, and that of it's author Dr. Demaria has had a life changing impact on my family. His info makes logical sense. His other book on ADHD also is a great work. It will save so many of our children from uneducated people trying to medicate them with poisons.
A life-saving publication.......2006-02-09
Following the advice in Dr. Bob's Trans Fat Survival Guide isn't always easy, but the resulting increased energy, enhanced mental awareness, and reduced pain makes it very worthwhile. Dr. Bob DeMaria not only tells you the "do's and don't's" of a healthy diet and lifestyle, he explains why in detail. I don't feel like I'm exaggerating when I say that this book can literally save a reader's life if he or she follows the advice in it.
More Reasons to Stop Trans Fats.......2006-01-29
This 134-page book is written by Robert DeMaria,a chiropractor, and Laura Meyer, a former English teacher with a master's in exercise science. According to the authors, trans fats are dangerous. Veiled, covert, and debilitating, these fats wreak havoc on our hearts. Trans fat is the George Bush of food. DeMaria said "It's actually stealth", the insidious killer.
Trans fat, like sucrose, does not occur naturally in foods apart from dead animals or meat. It is manufactured. Like heroin is manufactured from opium, so is sucrose refined from sugar cane, and so is oil heated with a metal catalyst and hydrogenated. Dr Bob is against sucrose and hydrogenated oils because not only do they cause disease, but they cause pain. Dr Bob is a chiropractor who treats pain, and he's found that what you put into your body is often responsible for alot of pain. Most people feel pain in their back, then their knees, then their head, followed by legs, shoulders, and feet.
Dr Bob is sincere about practicing what he preaches. He does not drink alcohol because that is like ingesting sucrose. He doesn't smoke or drink soda pop. His only bad habit is organic coffee rather than raw coffee. He probably doesn't know that roasting the coffee bean produces a carcinagenic tar same as when you burn tobacco leaves, and that tar causes colon cancer. He eats alot of nuts, but it is unclear if they're salted or not. The DRA of sodium is 500 milligrams, and if Dr Bob is eating salted nuts on a daily basis, then he's not doing his kidneys any good.
However, he gets a colonic peroiodically, jogs daily, and takes no medication. The value of this book is the message that there is no safe level of trans fats, so stop ingesting them. Also, the warnings about the effects of sucrose are well said. This means no more fast foods, although some Wendys restaurants fry their fries in non-hydrogenated vegetable oil, but you have to ask because their all different; or better yet - get the baked potato!
Dr Bob also has a website: www.DrBob4Health.com .

Major dissapointment.......2006-06-27
I bought this thinking it would be great, but I was sorely mistaken. 150 pages are taken up with diet book mubo-jumbo. I wanted a cookbook, not a speech on healthy living. I already live healthy, that's why I wanted a good COOKbook - not diet regime. Don't waste your money on this if you are only looking for recipes like I was.
great!.......2000-08-01
