Book Description
"The White Rabbit beckons you to follow him, down the rabbit hole, into his world. He's a deceiver, a trickster. You won't know what is truth and what is a lie. He aims to best you. Beat you. And when he does, you die."
When a friend is found brutally murdered in her New Orleans apartment, former homicide detective Stacy Killian has reason to believe her death is related to the cultish fantasy role-playing game White Rabbit. The game is dark, violent -- and addictive.
As a former member of the Dallas police force, Stacy was exposed to more than her share of the horrors of crime. Moving to New Orleans was her attempt to pursue a quieter life. But her friend's murder plunges her back into the role that she fled -- especially after she meets Spencer Malone, the homicide detective assigned to the murder case. Stacy doubts the overconfident rookie is up to the task and vows to track down the killer herself.
Her investigation draws her into the privileged circle of White Rabbit's brilliant creator, Leo Noble, a man with many dark secrets in his past . . . a man whose life has the same frightening surreal quality of the game he invented.
As the bodies mount and the game is taken to the next level, Stacy and Spencer are forced to work together. Soon they are trapped in the terrifying world of a game gone mad where Leo Noble and all the people around him are suspect, cryptic notes foretell the next victim and no one -- no one -- is safe.
Because White Rabbit is more than a game. It's more real than life and death. And anyone can die before the final moment when the game is over . . . and the killer takes all.
Download Description
When her friend Cassie is brutally murdered, Stacy Killian is compelled to investigate, drawing herself deep into Cassie's underground world of role-playing. Only now the game is real -- and deadly. And Stacy is the killer's next target...

Kill really does Take All.......2007-02-05
I thought this book was great. I'm not big into gaming, but if you know anything about it you will be hooked into this storyline. It was very well written. Many twists and turn that kept me interested. It was such a different plot line than other detective-type stories and that's what really kept me going with it. I would highly recommend it, although this is the first of her novel's I have read I'm currently looking for other good titles.
Killer Takes All.......2007-01-10
The book was pretty good. I would have expected a better ending.
Didn't Work for Me.......2006-07-22
This book is readable, but I wouldn't recommend this book to someone looking for romantic suspense. First of all, there is very little romance in this book. The "romance" between the two main characters is barely touched upon -- there isn't even a love scene between them! Just a "morning after" scene, which I found highly disappointing.
Secondly, the plot in this book is remarkably complicated and involves five major plot twists in the last 100 pages (I'm not kidding here). I don't mind a suspense novel with a good twist or two, but I think too many twists hurt a story's credibility. I also found it difficult to keep track of all the different characters in the story as well.
Spindler is a good writer and writes in a fluid style. I'm willing to give her writing another shot, but I would suggest passing on this one.
good, not quite 5 stars.......2006-07-21
I am a first reader for Erica Spindler. I really got into this book, read it in a matter of hours. I am an avid Dean Koontz reader, and I would say that this book flows like his writing. I was really disappointed by how it ended though. It didn't leave me satisfied with the outcome. Sorry, Erica. I tried.
What's happened to this latest book?.......2006-06-29
I have been reading Erica Spindler for years... anxiously awaiting each book that is published. The book seemed to me not to be like her style at all. At times, I found myself having to make myself sit and read it. At the end it seemed to redeem itself but ended up being predictable. Friends have often borrowed my Erica Spindler collection and been entralled as well. This is one that I would put on the shelf and leave there. If someone is into gaming or dungeon and dragons, they may enjoy it more.

New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts brings you two classic romantic treasures not widely available for over a decade.
The Heart's Victory
He was the man she once dreamed about, but never dared to love. But now that Cynthia Fox was back in town, she was forced to confront Lance Matthews and all the old feelings speeding between them. Like the world of auto racing, Fox knew the stakes were high -- but so was the prize. Because this time, the only true victory would be love.
Opposites Attract
They were like night and day -- Ty Starbuck, a man known for his passions, and Asher Wolfe, infamous for her icy control. Together they'd set the world ablaze. Even after years apart, she still wanted him, deeply. But she had a secret she could never share -- even with the man she still loved. If only she could reveal the truth . . .

I resent buying books that I have read before but have been repackaged and marketed as new!!! I love Nora Robert's books but lately I have been very careful about reading the publishing date before buying.I wish someone would tell her or her publisher this before I refuse to buy any of her books!!!
LOVE IT! I have read it more than 3 times... honest!.......2006-04-20
I really loved this book. It's amazing and so romantic. We start with the first story which is Opposite Attract with Ty and Asher. They had been lovers 3 years ago but Asher had left Ty to married someone else. Ty who thought had been played by Asher come face to face with her at the tennis championships. And a knew romance started with heated nights in each others arms. But Ty still didn't know why Asher had left him 3 years early and was trying to figure it out. But Asher had a big secret that she didn't want Ty to know about, but a their new romance gets more intense. And secrets are too close to get revealed and change everything between them.
The second story The Heart's Victory which i absolutly adored is with the sexy & determind Lance and the grown and beautful Foxy. Foxy had been in love with Lance since she was 16 years old. But Lance would only make her feel like if she was an annoying child and push her away. Heartbroken Foxy decided to forget him. But even though six years had passed since she had laid eyes on Lance when she saw him again she knew she never stop loving him. But Foxy felt at a loss because she thought that Lance just wanted to take her to bed but her thoughts change dramatically on the night that Lance asked Foxy to marry him. Once married they discovers passion never felt before.
Loved it!!!.......2005-11-11
I liked both stories, but I liked The Heart's Victory the best. It was great to see the couple get together after being apart for 6 years. I loved getting a look into their lives after they were married, which is something we don't get to do often in Nora Robert's books. Also, the storyline took place in different cities/countries, and it was great getting a look into the car racing world. The main characters, Foxy and Lance were well developed, we get to see (through flashbacks) Foxy go from a 14 year old girl with a crush into a grown woman who has realized that it's true love.
Loved it!
Loved...... it!.......2005-08-27
both books were similar in the sense that they both had a theme of past love's that were now being faced in the present. However, each situation is quite different, and so are the locations and charcters.
I love this book, your filled with emotion, hope and all sorts of feeling, and as a romantic I'm glad they turned out nicely. If you've ever had a childhood crush, or fantasy, its even much better.
A beautiful journey.......2005-08-09
Even though Mrs. Roberts' novels are a bit "formulaic" I still
love them. Her settings take one on a beautiful journey and
even though you know the boy will get the girl, it's a joy
to find out how he does it.

Book Description
In Stop Aging Now!, Jean Carper -- winner of the 1995 Excellence in Journalism Award from the American Aging Association (the nation's leading group of scientists investigating the biomedical aspects of aging), nationally syndicated columnist and leading authority on health and nutrition -- documents how antioxidant vitamins, minerals, herbs and food chemicals are the magic youth potions humans have been seeking for centuries.
Based on exciting new scientific findings from leading institutions, Stop Aging Now! reveals the stunning truth: Much of what we call aging is not inevitable, but is needless and can be prevented and reversed to a startling degree by supplements and foods. Indeed, aging is often due to unsuspected deficiencies that can be readily corrected, and even people in their sixties, seventies and eighties can turn back the clock and recover their youth.
Leading scientists have found that:
Vitamins can prevent and reverse memory loss and other signs of aging.
Vitamins and minerals can rejuvenate immune functions, restoring youthful resistance to infections and cancer.
Antioxidants in foods and supplements can help prevent clogged arteries, heart attacks and general bodily deterioration.
Many unfamiliar but readily available food chemicals can prolong life and preserve your vitality.

Good Basic Advice But Ignores the Toxic World.......2007-06-28
In STOP AGING NOW, Jean Carper uses the free radical theory to optimize health. Most of her book theorizes that taking supplements like vitamins E, B, and C, with minerals like zinc, calcium, magnesium, selenium, mixed with other potent antioxidants like CoQ10 will combine synergistically to reduce--but not stop--the aging process. Carper is quite right as far as she goes, but she wrote this book in 1995, and there have been considerable advances in life advancement that were either unknown or simply untested then. I cannot fault her for her lack of prescience in not knowing about other and far more potent supplements to postpone aging: DHEA, Acetyl L-Carnitine, pregnenolone, carnosine, resveratrol, lycopene, alpha lipoic acid, grapeseed extract, N-Acetyl-Cysteine, green tea extract, and curcumin to name a few. My primary objection to Carper is her passive methodolgy. If you take a dozen or so pills, you will benefit. What she leaves out is what must have been apparent even as she was writing STOP AGING NOW, namely the impact that a toxic-filled world has on human beings. Nowhere does she address the existence of toxins, and unless one acknowledges that toxins in the air we breathe, the food we eat, the water we drink, and the chemicals with which we surround ourselves, then the overall benefit of her pill methodology is greatly reduced. There are numerous texts that address this concern. One might look at Kevin Trudeau's NATURAL CURES for a sampler. Still, for a first text on anti-aging, STOP AGING NOW is a good place to begin even if the title is seen as mostly hype and blurb.
We Can't Stop Aging Now.......2005-06-24
Jean Carper writes with an enthusiasm and verve that I admire, and she has the zeal of a missionary. But there is no scientific evidence that we currently can stop the aging process in humans. Researchers have slowed aging in laboratory rats and mice by putting them on a near-starvation diet, and they have extended life spectacularly in worms (as much as five-fold) by manipulating certain longevity genes. But we do not have evidence that the vitamins, minerals, or herbs cited in the book can stop human aging. Researchers around the world are working on aging, and I have no doubt that they will be able to stop human aging, possibly by developing a drug that affects longevity genes in humans. If you can maneuver around the claims for stopping aging, there is much, useful information in this book on good nutrition from fruits, vegetables, proper fats, and a healthy lifestyle. These will help you live longer. Live long enough, and scientists will find a way to stop you from aging.
WOW What a great way to STOP AGING!.......2003-02-19
Jean Carper has done a wonderful job of relating what the medical profession and researh have proven to be that elusive prescription to the fountain of youth. I quite agree with the 9th reviewer here on Amazon.com has written in her review.
I have been on such prescription for about 20 years now so I am giving testimony to Carper's prescription. Everybody on the planet earth should read and implement the directions in this book because we should learn to live up to our fullest potential and staying healthy is necessary to do that. We have lost, prematurely, many of our great brains because they abused their bodies with bad food, booze, and poor mental and physical health.
Informative and usefull.......2002-05-31
I love this book so much. It's full of information the average person can easily put to use every day. It's written in a way that's straight-forward and easy to understand. You can just zip right through it without falling asleep. Let's face it, nobody is reading this book for the entertainment value. Jean Carper's style is right on the mark, just give the information is a simple way, never long-winded. There is something in here for everyone. Even a couch potato could read this book, basically stay a couch potato, but still get something out of this book is they follow some of the advice in here. There are no gimmicks in here, just practical information you can put to good use every day.
A HELPFUL GUIDE ... AT A FRACTION OF THE LENGTH.......2002-03-29
Jean Carper's "Stop Aging Now!" is a mixed-bag: the useful information it imparts (which is more wittily and concisely expressed in the work of such nutritionists as Andrew Weil, for example) is deployed in such padded prose that by the time you finish reading it you are sure to have aged drastically! This book is repetitive in a way that seeks to arrogate authority by sheer volume: four hundred pages of maddening retreads and perverse recapitulations. It is as if it had been written by a nagging spinster schoolmarm for a not-very-bright ten-year-old child. That being said, it is well informed (at least)and is unlikely to harm anybody. For fifteen bucks, you could do a lot worse: a few packs of Marlboros, perhaps, or a family-size tub of Rocky Road.

Italy Today, the Beautiful Cookbook is the third volume on Italian cooking to join the popular Beautiful series of large format, lavishly illustrated books from HarperCollins. It is more than just a pretty book to set on the coffee table; this is a book cooks will enjoy and one that makes good reading if you are planning a trip to Italy.
Fred Plotkin's text covers the history, economy, and particular ingredients important in each of Italy's culinary regions. He also explains how changes in the way Italians live are affecting how they eat. Meals, for example, now follow the traditional structure less rigidly in most parts of the country, with the southern areas holding closest to the old ways. Also, while cooking in Italy is still remarkably regional, people are enjoying recipes less tied to their locality. Use of fresh and local ingredients, however, remains strong.
The recipes are by Lorenza De' Medici, who also did the food for Italy, the Beautiful Cookbook and Tuscany, the Beautiful Cookbook. Here she offers 220 dishes. Some show how Italians are modifying classics; others illustrate the living quality of Italian cooking in its acceptance of new ingredients and in new ways of using familiar ones. Perfect examples of this are Eggplant with Yogurt and Mint and Rice Salad with Pesto. Beyond all the handsome photographs, this is a source cooks really can use.
Book Description
First published in 1988, Italy the Beautiful Cookbook (200,000 copies sold) set the standard for exquisite presentation of Italy's authentic cuisine, combining recipes with scenic photography and details of each region. Now, nine years later, with worldwide interest in Italian food booming and a new Italian cuisine emerging, this new book has new power to satisfy the cook and traveler in us all.
With the accelerated pace of contemporary life, Italians have had to change their style of eating. This has created fresh ideas, quick approaches to the classics, rediscovered heritage dishes, and a more relaxed way of assembling menus. This new style is reflected in the more than 220 recipes culled from cooks throughout Italy. Emphasis is on light first courses and vegetable dishes; simply prepared fish, poultry and meats; and homemade breads, pizzas and desserts. Photographs of each region accompany these mouthwatering recipes. From the Alps to Sicily, from the fragrant herbs of Liguria to the pungent olives of Puglia, readers will delight in rediscovering the pleasures of this inspiring beloved country.
Customer Reviews:
THIS IS THE FOLLOW UP, AND VERY POOR VERSION OF HER FIRST ONE.......2006-01-25
This book has almost the same title as her first book from 1987, Italy the Beautiful Cookbook. This one is called Italy today the Beautiful cookbook. This one is as bad as her first was good... pass on this one and order her first one.
La Cucina Italiana!.......2005-12-21
ITALY: THE BEAUTIFUL COOKBOOK is just that - a book brimming with known dishes and as well as rarities from throughout Italy presented in a format so well designed, filled with excellent photography, and thorough information about the country that it could rest as comfortably on the traveler's coffee table as in the gourmet's kitchen.
Lorenza De'Medici takes the reader on an insider's tour of Italy with readable maps, stunning photographs of each region, information about the peculiar characteristics of the regions that inform the recipes, and then gives some of the finest recipes you'll likely to encounter for dishes both simple and complex.
As with the best of cookbooks this one contains images that show how the result of the time spent in the kitchen will look. De'Medici writes with candor and in a relaxed inviting style. This survey of Italian culinary arts and the historic background that accompanies them is as fine as any similar book on the market. Highly recommended. Grady Harp, December 05
Value for the money, but..........2004-12-04
... you have to pay a little less. These "Beautiful Cookbooks" are usually on sale at Borders store for $20 for 2 or $10 each. For that price, they are a real value. Beautiful to read through, pictures of every dish and some nice recipes too.
Italy the incredibly plain food cookbook.......2004-07-14
This is AWFUL. Most of these recipes even the most beginning cook would know of or could simply figure out on their own - if they wanted bland food. Many if not most recipes are very few ingredients and fairly common sense. Chicken, rosemary, balsamic and oil. I didn't need a $50 cookbook to teach me that one - or any of them that would actually be tasty.
BEAUTIFUL and DELICIOUS!.......1999-08-26
I love to cook, love italian, and love this book. The beautiful photographs are very inspiring and the unique recipes are motivating!
Customer Reviews:
Not the best........2004-01-23
I bought this book along with Sterling Flatware by Tere Hagan. I find it difficult to use and poorly organized. She has a lot of information on certian patterns and makers but little on others. There is no index and information is incomplete. I use it as a back up to Hagan's book as she sometimes will have a pattern that Hagen dosen't have. Neither book is complete and this book has some information and a couple of Manufactures that Hagan dosen't cover still both books are valuable but even together not complete. I still have quite a few unknowns in my collection.
Only a basic reference.......2002-09-22
The 1880s to 1990s American Sterling Silver Flatware is a reference guide to 23 of the major American Sterling Silver Flatware makers and their production. It provides an overview of the patterns and the individual pieces produced in this 100 or so years time frame. For someone who loves silver it is lovely to look at. Some of the images are, just as they are on the front cover; beautifully photographed images. Others seem to be poor quality computer scanned images that produce, in many cases, barely acceptable illustrations or examples of the pattern.
If you know the name of the company you will be able to find the name of the pattern, the date of issue and an approximate price for four components. Not necessarily the basic four components of a place setting, as I understand it to be, i.e. a Dinner Knife, Dinner Fork, Dessert/Salad Fork and Tea Spoon. One also has access to a list of pieces that were originally produced. Here again, the guide could offer so much more. It does not provide insight into the difference between a Master Butter Knife and a Butter Knife nor does it include the measurements of different pieces, which I would have found invaluable. It is very useful to know that a Place fork or Luncheon Fork might be slightly less than 7 inches in length and that a Dinner Fork may be 7 ½ inches. And just what does an Orange Knife look like, or Strawberry Spoon an as compared to an Almond Spoon. More importantly, how does a Five Oclock Spoon differ from the more Basic Tea Spoon and those, which are mentioned as Full Size Trade Tea Spoon, Full Size Regular Tea Spoon, Full Size Heavy Tea Spoon, or Full Size Massive Tea Spoon. Again, the weight of different items would have been useful. While this book is a very valuable guide to American Silver Pattern, which does have a place in a collectors basic library, I feel it falls short of its possibilities as an Identification and Value guide.
A fairer appraisal of this book than my last review:.......2001-02-07
I was simply much too impatient for quick and easy answers the last time I wrote a review for this book, and I am a bit ashamed of myself for having been so negative and hypercritical. After much more time and education on the subject of American Sterling flatware, I realized that Ms. Dolan's approach is actually rather pragmatic and useful (organized alphabetically, by manufacturer, with hallmarks being displayed before each section). I would have appreciated an entire section devoted solely to identifying hallmarks, a wider range of American manufacturers, and an index, but this book has indeed proven useful for me, regardless (even though I am only able to reference between 50 to 60% of the patterns in any given pile of mixed antique American Sterling flatware, using solely this book - but still). Though by no means a complete reference in itself, Ms. Dolan's book should indeed be included in any collection of American Sterling flatware reference material, and seems to fill some of the gaps in other existing reference guides.
Disappointing.......1999-09-02
This book purports to be for the identification and value of American silver flatware. It is woefully incomplete. Where is Tiffany & Co.? Where are all the patterns that I would like to identify? Why is the layout so reader-unfriendly? And who cares that "Baltimore City lies 200 miles from the Atlantic Ocean..."?
Interesting but not comprehensive.......1999-07-25
As a collector, I have some sterling flatware purchased for daily use. However, I was unable to find one pattern in this book that matched the 50+ pieces I have. The photos and drawerings, however, are clear and detailed. Hopefully, someday I will be able to match a piece with the book!

Julia C. Wood Here's a great way to create appliqu patterns from photos. It's like transforming your sewing room into a darkroom. You won't believe how realistic-looking this technique will make your fabric images. Even quilters with no art training can expect to have success, and the photos of student quilts prove that everybody can.
Customer Reviews:
Portrait Quilts with Applique.......2007-07-14
This book provides clear, detailed instructions on turning photos of people and pets into quilts using applique. Fabric selection, techniques, making the pattern are all covered. I particularly like the portraits of the dogs that are included since these seemed to translate particularly well into a fabric interpretation. The books uses the fusible applique technique, so advanced sewing skills are not required. If you have Photoshop, you can use it, but it is NOT required for the techniques in the book. A nice book for anyone who wants to turn a treasured portrait into a quilt or to experiment with fabric art. And don't be turned off by the cover -- it's the one part of the book I found a bit unattractive.
FABRIC PHOTO PLAY.......2007-01-04
I first saw this book at a local quilt and craft show--it has many unique projects. I love the combination of computer tricks and fabric art--instructions are very good, and there are many detailed samples of completed projects.

It is an OK book.......2003-02-22
For those who have money and live in a castle, they will love it. For people who love a relaxed atmosphere I recommend English country style by Julie Fowler. It is no a bad book, only the cover page is more promising than the rest of the pictures in the book. It is all very Victorian.
Henrietta Spencer-Churchill Does It Again!!.......1998-03-18
Like her book,"Classic English Interiors", Henrietta Spencer-Churchill devotes a lot of care to this book. The photographs are incredible! I read it cover to cover last night and enjoyed every page. She really is quite brilliant. A must-read for anyone interested in English Country Style. Tea anyone?
Book Description

This book expands upon the two previous editions for the most comprehensive color reference to date. Along with some basic color theory, the book provides hundreds of one, two, and three-color combinations selected to reflect a range of moods and adjectives.
This edition includes information on creating special effects using metallic and fluorescent color palettes, as well as an entirely new section devoted to the psychology of color. In Complete Color Harmony, authors Tina Sutton and Bride M. Whelan help readers determine their best colors and suggests why some colors may inspire their creativity while others don't.
The book also includes two new color palette sections reflecting black and white as the color base, along with an expanded and updated Color Trends section that discusses not only trends and how they are predicted but gives advice on how to be a trend spotter.

Colors Galore!.......2007-08-15
Great book! Lot's of beautiful colors with CMYK values so that you can replicate them yourself.
What I expected........2007-08-02
I have enjoyed the book. Although I thought it would be more useful in terms of designing graphics arts, not my house. This book provides insight to color theory based on emotions and feelings when walking into a room; therefore, I would suggest this book for those looking to do some interior decorating and designing; not necessarily for graphic arts.
Complete & very useful.......2005-11-13
I buy this book because the title is "The COMPLETE Color Harmony". There are so many other books about color on the shelf, but the word 'COMPLETE' really hit me. Altough i'm working in the design field but i found myself need more resources to this main subject, color harmony.
This book is great, it gives me new ideas of color harmony. I often use it for my projects. What i liked about this book is that they put 'Moods & Color' section in it. Powerful, rich, romantic, vital, earthy, friendly, soft, welcoming, etc....with other colours combinations too. 'The Psychology of color' also a great one too along with the 'Process color convertions chart'. This book is absolutely complete!

Book Description
A critical study of the background of D.W. Griffith's film masterpiece, the 1916 epic Intolerance. The most expensive ($2,000,000) film made prior to 1920, Intolerance was criticaly acclaimed and is now considered a classic. The book traces the artistic and political influences that shaped the director's vision, discusses the influences of the Progressive movement, and connects the film to the social and political climate of the early 20th century.
Customer Reviews:
Scholarly review of a complex film.......2003-03-19
While D.W. Griffith is famous (or infamous) for his breakthrough feature THE BIRTH OF A NATION (1915), his critics are just as divided over his follow-up, INTOLERANCE (1916). This epic tells four distinct stories at one time. The stories are linked thematically, as they show how one powerful person's intolerance of others can have tragic results. This film was the most expensive film produced up to that point in time, yet its structure remains "experimental" to this day.
Mr. Drew's analysis of this film is easy to read, and he does not indulge in some of the intangible film theories that many books of this type trot out. He begins by sketching Griffith's life and his career at this point in time. Next, he breaks the film down into the different "stories". From that, he explores the sources that Griffith used as a reference for his story, costumes and sets. This section is very interesting because the author points out the historical points that were important to Griffith as well as the facts he ignored. Griffith was also influenced by contemporary and historical authors, poets, and films. Finally, Griffith and the film were influenced by the Progressive political reform movement of the time.
The last two chapters of the book deal with the impact of INTOLERANCE at the time of release, and what major film critics have said about it. Griffith claimed that the film was a financial disaster. While the film did not make a lot of money, Drew shows that the film did quite well until the outbreak of World War I caused a major shift in the public's attitues toward the film.
I would recommend this film to anybody who is interested in D.W. Griffith and silent films of the 1910s. Just make sure that you see the film before reading the book.
