very good one..........2005-12-06
it looks like to me a very good book about nlp, and the so called sleigh of the mouth tech, maybe in my view, if someone wants to feel the bottom of GS and NLP goes to one of the best on this(michael hall) this guy seems simply the best.
one of the best books on NLP theory and practice.......2005-10-10
this is the kind of NLP book i love. one that covers the serious ideas and theories in a good conversational tone and references not just other NLP books, but outside sources and historical figures.
this is not another "self empowerment" book, this is about the concepts and dynamics of NLP.
Bad science.......2003-09-10
Ive never been comfortable with this writers attempts to prove that NLP is scientific, and in that respect this book is worst than most. For example, on page 90 Dilts writes
"The quality of information that we have in our senses is somehow coded more precisely for the real experience than the imagined one, and that's what makes the difference."
Of course that first phrase doesnt make a lot of sense because the information goes THROUGH our senses to our brain. Information isnt stored IN our senses, But that is only half of the problem. The other half is this (it was written about two years AFTER Sleight of Mouth was published)
"We also need to know whether there are reliable ways to distinguish a true memory from a false one. As of now, there are not, although many behavioural and neuro-imaging studies are attempting to find one."
This comes from a 2001 article co-authored by Elizabeth Loftus.
And Elizabeth Loftus, Professor of psychology at the University of Washington, in Seattle, is one of the worlds leading experts on false memory.
So who can we believe? A bloke with no specialist qualifications or experience, or a professor of psychology and inventor of the famous/infamous "shopping mall" experiment?
Groupies will no doubt invent reasons why Mr Dilts must know better than erveryone else. But the smart money is on the Prof.
Ben Johnson once told a would-be author
"Your book os good and original. But the the good parts aren't original, and the original parts aren't good"
Same thing applies here.
Why wait so long?.......2003-07-13
I can't really understand why Mr Dilts thought he had to write this book at all since what it does is re-present some of the most basic NLP techniques as though they were something brand new. Mr Dilts actually tells us at one point that the ideas he is explaining were formulated in 1980 or thereabouts and so it seems sort of strange that this book came out in 1999. Why wait so long? And why go over again material which because of the long delay is now the core material for every book that calls itself an introduction to NLP?
BTW it is slightly inaccurate to suggest that Mr Dilts is anything less than a "well established" author on NLP. He was involved with the group at Santa Cruz which originally developed NLP, and his earliest books date back at least as far as 1980 when he wrote 'NLP Volume 1' along with Bandler, Grinder and Judith DeLozier. At least ten of his books, probably more, are still in print. Are there any other NLP writers who can rival those statistics?
Accelerates past the mediocre NLP attempts.......2001-09-05
Big fonts, humorous approach and a high-degree of practicability makes this book an easy read. You'd learn strategies like Chunking, Reframing and Heirarchy of Criteria which easily create environments of belief change and cooperation in almost any encounter.
In contrast to the more established authors on the genre, Dilts takes NLP from the "mysical heights" and magically transforms it into knowledge that total newbies can comprehend in just a day.
I'd recommend this for those who are actively involved in professions where counseling, motivation or leadership skills are necessary.

Book Description
The Playboy Prince
When it came to women, Prince Bennett could never refuse a challenge -- and after meeting quiet, lovely Lady Hannah Rothchild, the dashing playboy couldn't rest until he broke through her careful reserve. Love had always been a game to Bennett, but with this elusive, mysterious woman he found his heart was on the line, and he was playing for keeps . . .
Cordina's Crown Jewel
For a few blessed weeks, Her Royal Highness Camilla de Cordina could be just plain Camilla MacGee. And working in rural Vermont for archaeologist Delaney Caine -- devastatingly handsome, utterly cantankerous -- offered the perfect refuge. But as her irritation became fascination, then desire, the royal runaway knew she'd have to confess. Would Del see her as a woman to be loved, or dismiss her as a royal pain?

Royal Kingdom of Dreams.......2007-08-14
To me, Cordina's Royal Family is the best of Nora Robert's series. I have read other of her series, but none have the magic that I found in the Royal Cordina Family. I loved each character: Bennett, Camilla, Alex, Eve, Gabriella, Hannah and Reeves. Somehow this series stirs the fairy tale mystery that exists in all of us. I really wish Ms. Roberts would continue with the Cordina family series. As a talented and skillful author, she should be able to find a way! What about Bennet and Hannah"s wedding? To me, that would be wonderful to read! I want more of that wonderful family!
hopless romantics will love it........2006-08-16
If you are a hopeless romantic, like stories about princes and princesses and love a classic ending. Then you will enjoy this book. I really like the fact that Hannah was a heroine but Bennett also took some credit. Very entertaining.
Where's the Juice?.......2006-08-06
Based on the recent recommendation by a Stephen King article in Entertainment Weekly, I purchased this book expecting to read some really good romance writing. The writing lack depth, dimension, and offered zero emotional skill, and after struggling through the first 100 pages, I threw the book away. So much for Stephen King's opinion - although he's written so really good things, he's also put out a lot of mediorce work too. If you want some juicy romance as well as good storytelling, read Susan Carroll's "The Dark Queen", The Courtesan" and "The Silver Rose"
Trilogy. Once I read these I went back and purchased Carroll's earlier works, all with underserved tacky covers I might add, but the writing is fun and her heroes are "broad shouldered with powerful thighs and sensuous mouths" etc. Diane Galbaldon (could be incorrect spelling) writes well with very interesting characters and story lines but too sexually violent for my taste.
Not her best novel, probably, but I still couldn't put the book down..........2006-07-17
I read all four stories over four days and I will agree that these are not her best, but still I laugh and I cried and I gasped out loud and was generally entertained. From the moment I started reading I could not put the book down and I found myself transported to royal Cordina were a family loves one another and finds love and passion while fighting terriorists. Still liked it a lot.
Two Stars-Spoilers follow.......2006-06-24
After being disappointed in reading Gabriella & Alexander, I still tried Bennett & Camilla and was still disappointed. Once again there was a lot of things happen but it felt like they were trying to destract you from the charactors. I didn't like Bennett at all. Starting with his name and it went down from there. His treatment of Hannah after learning her true idenity comented my hate. I wished Hannah would have stabbed him with a knife. I did however enjoy Hannah thoroughly all of her working with the terrorities in order to bring them down was very exciting. It would have been fun to see series on Hannah's work. Now on to Camilla. Camilla was not a very exciting charactor she was very dull. Her beau Delaney was all right until he got all hung up on her lying about being a princess when he was lying about his own title. Its calling the kettle black and makes me lose all respect and like for the charactor.

Gets a Royal Ok........2005-07-13
This was the first Nora Roberts I have been able to read all the way through. It was better than I thought it was going to be. Usually I can't take what she writes seriously. But this time I don't think she was taking it seriously, so it worked out well.
Its the usual undercover royalty storyline. I don't quite understand how a princess, who is clearly very good at being a princess is able to turn into a domestic goddess. She cleans and cooks like an army of Martha Stewarts, it seems.
And the little plot twist at the end is pretty silly, but I liked it, though clearly the male character was more than a little annoyed by it--as it is something that does not fit him or his family very well. It was a bit forced on Roberts part, a twist like that would have been better with a bit more foreshadowing.
However, the relationship between the main characters is pretty interesting. And it isn't a bad read.
ok.......2003-04-30
I am a huge Nora Roberts fan but this book was not my favorite. I just couldn't get into the characters. I liked Del...but couldn't get a solid picture in my mind which doesn't happen very often when reading Nora's books....Cam was ok but typical....it was a fast read and I really liked the ending...the characters fought throughout the book...but it was a very romantic ending! It is worth the time but not her best work....
Roman oliday Remake.......2002-12-28
I have read this book. Ireally enjoyed it, especially the scenario of a member of aroyal family who runs away to America and meets the man/woman of his/her dreams. That's what I call a remake of Roman Holiday. Nora Roberts writes great love stories.
Mesmerizing story of Royal romance.......2002-10-16

Camilla de Cordina was tired of being a princess. She needed a break and took a few weeks off to experience life as an ordinary girl. After 10 days of her happy adventure, her car broke down in a storm and was rescued by a broken-armed archaeologist, Delaney Caine. Delaney stayed in Vermont trying to recover from injuries that happened during an archaeological dig in Florida. Vermont seemed to be the perfect place for Camilla to hide from the press. She was running out of money, so when Del asked her to work temporarily as his assistant and housekeeper in return for her lodgings in his cabin, she could not refuse. Camilla soon realized that Del was a brilliant archaeologist and fell in love with him. She wasn't sure if Del felt the same with her so she decided to seduce him. Would Del be able to resist this royal beauty?
CORDINA'S CROWN JEWEL is the extension of the Cordina' Royal Family series. As usual, Ms. Roberts has delivered another mesmerizing story of Royal romance. Camilla and Del are the princess and the knight in shining armour from two different worlds and backgrounds. Camilla is well liked by the public, well educated with social grace, where Del is bonehead with terrible manners and an outrageous temper. Camilla lives most of her life in luxuries and Del spends his life in sites recovering ancient bones. What brings them together are the passion and their interest in archaeology, and a little magic by the author.
Fantastic.......2002-09-12
Another winner by Nora Roberts.
Camilla needs some time alone, time to not be a princess. So off she goes on a trip alone. She gets a job working with an archeologist and thus begins the adventure of a lifetime. Del is interesting, sexy and in need of a feminine hand. As the sparks fly, Camilla learns to accept who she is and becomes ready to step into her role as leader of her country. Del has to come to grips with the fact that he has fallen in love and then with the information he has fallen in love with a princess.
A true romance and a true joy to read. It is short enough to read in a long night or a day. I enjoyed every minute of it and was sorry to see it end.
Enjoy.

Lucius Shepard, The Ends of the Earth (Arkham House, 1991)
Lucius Shepard has been one of America's most underrated writers for years; this is one of those collections that faded into obscurity quickly, but that deserves to be taken out, dusted off, and thrust upon the nation with the marketing campaign it deserves.
The Ends of the Earth features fourteen of Shepard's finest stories from early in his career. They span the globe from Vietnam to Guatemala to New England, taking on all things weird and wonderful, and are uniformly excellent. Fans who came to know Shepard through Twilight Zone magazine and the excellent Vietnam War fiction collection In the Field of Fire will already be familiar with "Delta Sly Honey" and "Shadows," two of the book's strongest pieces. Others will no doubt already know the novella "The Scalehunter's Beautiful Daughter," published on its own as a limited edition, and the kind of story that cannot be described with any accuracy; it must be read to be believed. All, and the rest of the stories here, are mesmerizing.
That said, this is a collection of early work (well, relatively); while the stories here are undoubtedly strong, sometimes they don't reach the gloriousness of some of his later work, especially the novels. That's not to say this stuff isn't worth reading; to the contrary, seek this book out however you have to. ****
Glorious, absolutely bloody glorious.......2000-10-24
Lucius Shepard is one of the most extraordinary writers living, inside the genre ghetto or out. All his books - Green Eyes, The Jaguar Hunter, The Golden, Barnacle Bill the Spacer, Life During Wartime and any others you happen to run across - are complex, literate, unputdownable and decidedly different from anything else you've ever come across. There's almost nothing in science fiction, less in horror fiction, and damn little in the mainstream to match his visionary scope, his brilliant atmospherics, and his lucid prose - lucid even in the most extreme states of mind and of spirit. The stories in The Ends of the Earth take place in his usual locations - evil little Central American wars as in "Fire Zone Emerald", weird mutations of the United States as in "Bound for Glory" and "Nomans Land", and upon (and inside) the great dragon Griaule in the stunning "The Scalehunter's Beautiful Daughter" - which is a heartbreakingly beautiful story. As are the rest, including among many others the terrifyingly optimistic "Bound for Glory", which tells of monsters and why we might consider joining them; the existential nightmare "Nomans Land", which treats of white spiders which dream us; and "Aymara", which is that near impossibility, an original tale of time travel, with one of the most moving final sentences I've ever seen. You should go to the ends of the earth to buy this one. These fourteen stories alone are worth a cartload of almost anyone else.
Book Description
In the last several years, Walter Brueggemann's writings have directly addressed the situation of Christian communities in today's globalized context, with its consumerist lifestyles, vast inequalities, and near-imperial exercises of power. His insights, forged in rugged encounters with the texts of the Old Testament, are sharp, painful, and indispensable. In the people Israel Brueggemann finds a model of an alternative community anchored in YHWH, ever exploring new possibilities, and prophetically bent against empire.

Dennis Prince teams up with William Meyer, an expert at selling music items on eBay, to give information specific to the music market, including determining the condition and authenticity of items; understanding what can legally be sold, including copyrighted material and tickets; the use of an instrument (for beginners, marching bands, professionals, or collectors); and more.

How to Sell Music, Collectibles and Instruments on eBay

This book is a quick, short introduction to using eBay for buying and selling music and related collectibles and instruments, [one of the "How to Sell ..... and Make a Fortune" series]. It appears to be aimed at those who would rather learn by doing and need only a brief tutorial on the process. This objective is met quite admirably. Those who find they desire more detailed discussions or want information on the ancillary sectors of eBay can find other books that meet these needs.
As to the "Make a Fortune" part of the title, the recommendation essentially is the familiar mantra of retail operations - Buy low, Sell High, Generate High Sales Volumes, Know the Product and Understand the Customer. The difference here is that eBay is the base of operations rather than a store and operating on eBay opens the operation to a potential audience of million. While few make a fortune in retail at this level, the book does offer much information and lists a wealth of reference sources.
The potential market is very large. According to this book 54% of U.S. households have at least one musical instrument player. And, retail music is a stable product category with staying power and sales potential.
* Over 745 million audio CDs were sold in 2003 for $11 billion
* Over 35 million concert tickets were sold in 2002 grossing $2.2 billion
* Music products [instruments, performance gear, etc.] sales in 2002 exceeded $6.9 billion
* Vintage music products and memorabilia generates tens of billions of dollars every year
Those selling in this field can be either: experts in a narrow, low volume market with high profit margins; or broadly interested in a wide, high volume market with low profit margins. Whichever part of this field one chooses to follow there are many sources of information provided in this book.
Memorabilia refers to items like t-shirts, ticket stubs, programs, etc. Once these items were considered to be disposable. However, their presence on eBay has created an expanded, eager collector base. So more items are being valued and the values are increasing.
According to this book there usually are over 650,000 music-related items listed in eBay's categories and over 500 sub-categories for Music, Musical instruments [grossing $500 million a year] and Music Memorabilia [ with 75,000 Rock-n-Roll listings every day] categories. This book claims to be the only one focused on these three areas. Some data the book presents on eBay's sales in the music categories:
* Music - 500 categories
* 700,000 listings each day
* 150,000 records listed
* Musical instruments - $500 million/ year
o 50,000 guitars listed - $1.1 B in 2002
* Musical Products - $350 million/year
* Rock-n-roll memorabilia - 70,000 listings
Chapter 2 is entitled "The History of Selling Music". This information helps one start to develop a background in the field to better understand the items being sold and to prepare for updates and changes. The chapter points to two areas of concern: Fraud and Competition.
The book states that fraud and misrepresentation are widespread, especially with Memorabilia. It is estimated that 99% of the Beatles signature items and 75% of Rock-n-Roll autographs are fake. The book recommends that such items have rock-solid appraisals from recognized specialist appraisers and a written, lifetime guarantee of authenticity.
Competition relates to the various levels of marketing, particularly of musical instruments and related equipment, The mass marketers [Wal-Mart] lower prices and make business difficult for music stores. The Internet also competes with the music stores. Fraud is rife and prices are lowered mercilessly [in the eyes of store-based merchants] In fact some instrument manufacturers forbid the sale of their instruments on the Internet and impose pricing protection for the stores.
The book discusses each sector in the music categories, addressing source information, market, current pricing and the more popular items. Pages 45 to 63 lists many information sources, sub-dvided as by instrument or type of memorabilia.
Chapter 5 discusses the necessary Business Plan focusing on marketing and sales strategies and on the financial aspects.
Chapter 6 covers building and maintaining an inventory. Chapter 7 discusses acquiring and holding on to customers and keeping them happy to generate return business. The book addresses the tasks to use eBay for selling - Listing, Payment, Shipping, etc. Chapters 10 to 12 cover the elements of becoming a music specialist in one of the categories and sub-categories. It outlines the knowledge needed and the means to keep the customers happy, and advised of one's available inventory.
The book is well-written, easy to read and has enough illustrations to convey the needed message. I would recommend this book for beginners or novices in using eBay for buying and selling music-related items on eBay.
Real-world money-making advice .......2005-02-08
This in-depth book covers the topic of selling music products on eBay, using a lot of practical examples plus a dash of humor. It's a great resource for anyone who wants to start selling CDs or instruments on eBay, giving real specifics on how to position your music merchandise effectively. It's a solid guide that's bound to generate real sales. Also, it includes excellent first-hand testimony from some of eBay's best music sellers. Highly recommended.

She spent countless hours researching, interviewing, and taking photographs. Her book has become a bestseller. REVIEW: Planet Patchwork Quilting Bookbriefs says this book "contains a well-done primer in foundation techniques, and dozens of creative border designs, both traditional and contemporary. Perhaps most important, the authors provide a series of questions to ponder as you decide what kind of border you want."

Hello to all those tappers out there - I love all of you - Including you Savion. My name is Vaughan and I am actually Australian. My mother taught me how to tap ever since I could stand on two feet. Now, I'm 19 years old. And I'm a professional tap dancing teacher in Japan. Let me just say that I could relate a lot with what Savion was talking about. His views on tap and the way he wants it to go.
It's a fun book to read - with some great action tap shots of Savion throughout his life. The layout is very original, and very creative - it was nice to take my mind off my uni degree for a couple of hours and learn about this extremely successful tap dancer. Someone who I didn't know too much about, but now somehow believe that I've known him all my life.
It's a great art - Tap Dancing. And I wish there were people who could indulge themselves in a couple of professional / guest classes. I go around all of Japan teaching in my holidays, and I try to get as many people involved. Maybe because not many people do it, thats what makes it so unique. Thanks Savion - for following your dreams and publishing this book. It was a great read.
Your fellow Tap Dancer... Vaughan
Best book I've read for a long time.......2001-01-19
I couldn't put this book down. As a tapper, who is into hoofing and rythm tap, this book was amazing. It explains not only Savin's life and his career but how he uses his shoes to do what he does. This book brings an element of percusion into the dance world that needs to be more widely used.
His Voice Is Finally Heard.......2000-12-02
We've been hearing his wonderful rhythms for years, now we finally get to hear his voice. What a true inspiration! This book just makes you want to jump up and start moving your feet. Believe me, this book is not just for children. I used it as required reading for my advanced tap class at the local college.
Keep Rockin Savion!.......2000-06-02

Thank you sir for sharing your wonderful inner world of rhythm with the world! You are an inspiration to all of us who make a living lacing up those tap shoes everyday. Your loving and pricelesss contribution to this wonderful artform are greatly appreciated and honored.
Book Description
A book which shows how contemporary designers push the boundaries
Experimental Formats & Packaging examines how exciting design problems, such as how to make a book that does not look like a book, and how packaging can be taken into new design dimensions while still fulfilling its essential functional role.
While both formats and packaging are notoriously difficult areas in which to be innovative and revolutionary, the authors have brought together examples that combine awareness of process and materials and creativity without compromising other methods of communication. Over 100 illustrated case studies reveal the ideas and philosophies behind each project, while an extensive directory of materials and processes, plus a range of basic box templates, provides an invaluable grounding to encourage a more experimental approach to design.
Experimental Formats & Packaging combines the content of two highly successful titles in one great value book.
