Book Description
She's got the rock, so when does happily ever after kick in?
At long last, Ashley Stockingdale--patent attorney, fasionista, and homeowner--can finally add "fiancee" to her spirited resume. That means the next four months will be a dizzying and decadent waltz through aisles of Vera Wang, Kenneth Cole, Sheridan sheets, Kate Spade place settings, and Oneida flatware. Well...maybe not.
For starters, the HR department has hired Ashley's ex-boyfriend (yep, the one who ran off to India with that other woman) as the new director of software. And now her fiance is starting to sound crazy--something about moving across country, to Philadelphia of all places. Worst of all, right before her eyes, Scarlett-I-need-some-Prozac O'Hara is hijacking her wedding plans!
Life for our heroine is spinning from out of control to downright confusing. But whether she makes it to the end of the aisle or not, she'll never be at a loss for drama!

Hillarious.......2007-03-19
As someone who is planning a wedding. I got a huge kick out of this book. It made me laugh out loud and is very discriptive i could just imagine the characters. In some aspects i could see myself in this character. I give this book two thumbs up for anyone who is looking for a good book to entertain themselves with.
an odd one.......2007-03-19
Put simply, it's an odd mixture of current fashion, fiance drama, and - get this one - god.
Very Funny.......2007-02-14
This book was laugh out loud funny. Kristin Billerbeck does a great job of writing great chick lit without compromising Christian standards. If you thought that Erin was a handful in the 2nd book, just wait until you get a load of Kevin's sister, Ashley. This book is fantastic.
Fabulous!.......2006-12-26
Great book! I just read it cover to cover in one sitting because I couldn't put it down! Ashley is a great character and it's nice to read a chick book that has main characters with christian values.
Another Winner from Kristin Billerbeck!.......2006-07-13
I am so bummed that this is the end of the series because this is a great one!!! Kristen has gotten me so hooked on reading the "Christian chick Lit" that I've read all of her books so far!! I don't do that normally because I like to make sure there is more when reading an authors book so I don't run out of things to read. I couldn't do that with her stuff.
This book was hard to find in the local stores. One said it would be in within a week of ordering it...2 WEEKS later nothing!!! I decided if I was going to wait I would wait while anticipating a package so I ordered this from Amazon on a Tuesday and received it on Friday! Guess who called on Saturday to tell me the book was in.....
Great, funny, witty read! Read them all!!!!

Customer Reviews:
I've only got one more to read!.......2007-01-30
I might be the only man to leave a review here so I hope you find what I have to say helpful. The stories were fun! So, yes, you're helping a good cause and you'll get to enjoy it at the same time.
My only prior experience with reading romance novels was in college for a class and I hated the story we read. There were so many things wrong with it as a story. Not so with this collection. I thought about just reading the two stories that Kemberlee Shortland wrote since she told me about the book but then after reading hers I started at the beginning of the book and tore through the rest of the it as well. I've got one more story to read before I'm done with it but I didn't want to wait any longer to write a review.
So you need not be into romances to enjoy this book because the stories are still good as stories.
The only word of caution I have for you parents is that some of the stories are too "hot" for my nine year old niece. Read for yourself which ones those are.
Corruption of Power.......2006-08-20
While this anthology does not answer the basic question of who the heck makes a law about the bouncability of pickles, I had a blast reading every single story in here.
The underlying theme of this anthology is a collection of ridiculous laws. Each story is unique and most genres are represented. It was interesting to see how the various lovers reacted to the bizarre laws. Some characters merely deride the laws and then ignore them. Some manipulate them to their advantage to capture their sweetheart's interest. Some actively protest them with the authorities.
My favorite stories were "Bad Cat", "Double Dare", and "A Love to Remember". But frankly, I liked almost all of them. Really there were only 2 that I might possibly have given a mediocre review on their own. And out of a collection of 24, this is still hands-down the best anthology of romantic short stories I have ever read.
Last thing I'll say is that I think it's wonderful Highland Press is donating the profits from this book to breast cancer research. As if it wasn't enough to know that you're getting a fantastic product, you can also feel good knowing that your money is going to good use. Great theme, great book, great cause! Five enthusiastic stars!
Really Good Value.......2006-05-21
I bought this book based on the reviews, and I was not sorry. All of the stories were good, but I especially loved Sadie, the Shady Angel that kept me laughing. I also really enjoyed Bad Cat and No Laughing Matter. I was impressed, not only with the variety of the stories, but the quality as well. An excellent way to spend an afternoon and contribute to Breast Cancer Research at the same time.
Double Dare and I Swear.......2006-05-18
I must say, what a great selection of stories! And for all the sales profits going for such a great cause! I am very impressed with the stories by a Michelle Scaplen. A new name to keep a watch for! All of these stories were unique in themselves. Superb job, Ms. Burroughs! I'm anxiously awaiting for the delivery of my Blue Moon books!
Tutti-Frutti Blues.......2006-05-15
I picked up No Law Against Love becuase of a writer local to my home town of Carmel by-the-sea, California. Kemberlee Shortland's story, "Tutti-Frutti Blues", brought back memories of the small town I grew up in. Shortland's style of writing is both fun and creative; I look forward to reading more of this authors work in the future!

Customer Reviews:
Good for low carb dieters, too.......2004-02-23
I bought this book hoping that I could adjust some of the recipes to use splenda or stevia to substitute for some of the sugar in the recipes, since otherwise, the recipes usually are low enough in total carbohydrate grams to be do-able on even the more restrtictive low-carbohydrate diets. The best luck in terms of lowering the sugar content while still keeping a good flavor and texture involved switching out half the sugar for splenda, and not using stevia at all except in the darkest chocolate of the recipes, where the herbal note of stevia doesn't compete with the other flavors. The sugar is still there, but there's less, and a low-carber can feel like they're not being _completely_ bad, as well as not _completely_ deprived of desserts.
Some of the recipes involve higher-carb fruits like bananas, but in general, the use of the nut flours brings most of the recipes (using your food counts book) to within the realm of possibility.
Yet Another Reservation.......2003-09-18
For those who are truly wheat and dairy intolerant, this book is rather a taunt than a solution. It is of little solace for anyone who is allergic to eggs, and many people who are allergic to wheat are also likely to be allergic to nuts. It is a parade of all the delicious things one cannot have.
Not Dairy Free.......2002-03-27
I am allergic to wheat and choose a vegan diet. I purchased this book due to the summary and fabulous reviews only to find that the title of this book is completely innaccurate. It is NOT dairy free, but instead it is lactose free. Most of the recipies call for at least 4 eggs and often they're separated, which makes it difficult to use egg replacer. The use of nuts is an excellent alternative to flour and I feel that this book is suited to persons with a wheat allergy. However, this book is not suited for those that choose to live dairy free.
Best desserts found in 20 years of looking.......2002-01-10
My father was diagnosed with gluten intolerance over 20 years ago. My whole family loves to cook and has tried every book on the market, and every experiment with weird flours you can possibly imagine -- mostly with so/so results. Overly dense bread, cakes with strange aftertastes... acceptable but not stellar.
Then I saw this book and I bought it! Wow! As a birthday present I made the hazelnut brownies for my father and you'd think I had given him a new house or something. YES, these recipes are work, not something you can do with what you have on hand... HOWEVER, I can honestly say that even I liked the results of this book, and the brownies... well, you'd never know they didn't have flour in them. REALLY.
A few notes: if you're going to do the hazelnut recipes, do yourself a favor and mail order them roasted and skinned. I bought them raw at a coop and roasting and removing the skins was the most annoying part.
Second note on the brownie recipe: It can be a bit hard to get the brownies out of the pan without breaking. The second time I made them I used a springform pan and I was much happier.
If you want your friend/familymember/yourself to love you forever, I highly recommend this book!
Excellent GF recipes based on ground nuts.......1999-01-05
Contains excellent info on working with many kinds of ground nuts for baking. The results are exactly like what you'd find in a fine Viennese konditerei. GF flour is typically used to dust pans. And, if you're tired of eating rubbery baked goods, there's no xantham/guar gum in these recipes. I've made about 12 recipes and they are clearly written and easy to follow. Not too many weird/hard to obtain ingredients. Invest in a good quality spring-form pan (~$15) if you buy this book.

Sure, glass has been around since ancient Mesopotamia, but some say the real art of glass wasn't developed until relatively recently. In 250 pages filled with photographs and information, 20th Century Factory Glass examines the myriad ways that a few minerals can combine with high heat to create delicate and colorful objects of beauty. In an effort to simplify material, the sections are arranged not by time period, but alphabetically by artist or company. From Fenton to Whitefriars, Anchor Hocking to Orrefors, author Lesley Jackson has collected information on nearly 100 manufacturers, and the text includes facts about the financial history of the company, as well as its artistic inspirations. There are many books devoted to Tiffany stained glass, but how many of them discuss his Aquamarine glass, or the business backing he provided for the Nash family to conduct glass-related experiments? Companies such as Ravenhead, one of the pioneers in machine-made glass, are also discussed in detail, with the fully automatic Westlake machine playing a prominent part. The accompanying photos for each section were chosen to showcase the variety from each designer, rather than focusing on one spectacular piece. As many of these companies were in business for most of the century, Jackson takes care to demonstrate stylistic changes throughout the decades. Orrefors is a perfect example of these changes. In the '90s, they were recognized for clean lines coupled with striking variations in thickness--but closer to the time of their founding in 1898, their designs featured elaborate engravings and Graal patterns. Whether you plan to use it for looking or learning, this book is an educational treat. --Jill Lightner

20th Century Factory Glass.......2000-09-26
This is the first book that really concentrates on the subject matter. Not only does Lesley give you information on the factory but she also gives wonderful accounts of the different designers and artists. It's not so much a picture book as it is a helpful and informative reference that we need more of. So if your looking to education yourself on the many glass artists, companies, and designers this is one book I would highly recommend.

Classic tales of teamwork, friendship, and justice.......2007-03-21
I held off buying the DC Archive editions for years because of the hefty price. Then I bought a couple used and I saw that they are worth every penny. At least they are worth it if you grew up with these titles. It was amazing how many of these stories (and specific panels) that I personally remembered after nearly 50 years.
Volume two contains stories originally published in Justice League of America #7-14. The highlights of this second volume are the origin of the JLA, and later, the Atom joining the team.
These stories look better on the high-grade, glossy paper than they did when first printed- and much, much better than they look on old, yellow newsprint. The maroon leatherette covers (with the Justice League of America logo embossed in silver) are first rate- though I would never take the heavy, glossy jackets off of them.
Treat yourself to the age of true heroes.
Best of the JLA Archives.......2006-09-10
This is the best of the JLA Archives as it contains the best three issues from the Silver Age, the two-part "The Fantastic Fingers of Felix Faust" and "One Hour to Doomsday", along with my all time favorite, "The Last Case of the Justice League" with the infamous Dr. Light! The Dr. Light issue is a page-turner, making you wonder at first how the JLA members are going to get out of the deadly traps the villian has gotten them into, and then later having you scratch your head at how there are not one, but three Dr. Light's?
If you wish to get a taste of the quality of the Silver Age JLA, this is the archive to own.
Still cosmic after all these years.......2006-03-29
Still great fun. Certainly more fun than all the Woody Allen-ish angst filling many current issues. Not the hard science of Star Trek, but you have to wonder Who beside Salmon Rushdie was reading JLA. The March, 1962 story has a secondary evil character called the Lord of Time who is often referred to as the Time Lord. I just read that the good Dr. Who first appeared in 1963...

Customer Reviews:
THIS BOOK SUCKED.......2003-10-15
THIS BOOK SUCKED. the first ten pages were worth reading the rest of the book is not. The other two reviews hit the nail on the head. he repeats himself over and over after the first couple chapters and tells nothing more than the dates of his movies and divorces.DO NOT BUY!!
A Pop-Biography........2003-10-14
I'm not quite sure what Sanello was thinking, but his biography, SPIELBERG is the biography equivalent of a one-hit-wonder. The most significant part of the book is the first few chapters that deal with Spielberg's early life. I learned some things I didn't know before. However, I guess after Sanello finished talking with a few old friends and family, he figured that was all the real research he needed to do because the rest of the biography reads like an extended version of PEOPLE magazine. There are no juicy tidbits and no in-depth research or even assumptions about how Spielberg is able to do what he does. The few times that Sanello discusses skirmishes that Spielberg had with former cast members, a short ancedote is given about their careers after the film and that is about all. Not only that, but several times throughout the book, Sanello quotes himself verbatim from previous chapters; sounding more like a freshman college student taking Lit 101 than the famed biographer he is supposed to be. Overall, SPIELBERG was a major let down. It's worth reading for the first couple chapters about Spielberg's early days, but the rest of the novel you can read yourself in the trades, newspapers, and magazines.
Superficial and disappointing.......2000-07-10
Unlike weightier bigraphies like Kevin Brownlow's terrific "David Lean" or Simon Callow's 'Orson Welles-The road to Xanadu," this book feels like author Sanello didn't look much further than magazine articles and trade clips for research. According to the dust cover, he had over half a dozen interviews (7? that must have been exhausting!) with the director himself and a handful of stars (though never really truly substantiated), but it doesn't seem like he thought about interviewing parents, siblings, co-workers, crew members, etc. for any more details or elucidations about this icon of American pop culture. His obvious admiration and fawning over his subject distracts from any possible objectivity and also grows tiresome. The book offers a basic overview of the director's life and work but not much in terms of how he works, communicates, or thinks. For example, there's almost nothing about his relationship with pivotal Amblin producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. Didn't they ever argue, or disagree about anything? How were projects brought in to the company and what was Kennedy and Marshall's thoughts about their boss? There is also no insight from production designers or cinematographers or writers or producers he worked with. For more than just a cursory look at this director's career (up to 1995) look elsewhere.
