This book was a gift for a close friend of mine and in his words, he has loved it. The words speak volumes to him and it's been great to see him this happy over something simple as a book of poetry. I recommend anyone that wants to read some really deep poetry should buy this book.

Amazing.......2002-04-19

I first saw Williams on [television] in a documentary called "Slamnation" and from that point on I was hooked. I immediately rushed to find out as much as I could about this literary God send. His poetry makes you want more, not just from him but from yourself. It truly inspires me, it gives me energy and a drive to just face the world head on. The book may be thin in size but it is packed full with an awesome power that will quake your spirit. If you are wondering what your next read will be then this is it!!!!! Over and over again.

One of the best poetry collections i've read. This is the second book of Sauls i've read and it is much better than she which is a mtv publication. Sorry but mtv ruins all just look at hip hop now. Anyway Saul gives you some thought provoking material. all you have to do is go to the library and look up the Dogon tribe and see how well read this man is. That aspect of him is reflected in his words. Check him out let him open eyes. If you get any bad reviews about this guy believe me they are based on pure ignorance.

i Had the plesure of performing alongside saul in Texas and i knew i had to have "Seventh" as i had already read "she". believe me when i say this man is before his time. the words are woven together masterfully, this book is a must have for anyone who ever thought that they were or ever wanted to call themselves a poet, this book captures the essance of spoken word within it's pages. PICK IT UP!

"The Empath's Lover": Touch empath Angelo Kelly feels the passion and longing in Jordan Sears whenever he touches her. The thing is, she's his brother's fiancee, and completely off-limits. He's tried to keep his distance from her, knowing she belongs to his brother, but he wants her very badly, and doesn't question his motives when she calls him to pick her up from the airport. Angelo resists his need for her as he brings her home to his brother Lee, only when he drops her off, Jordan gets a nasty surprise - her fiance is in bed with her best friend. As much as Angelo hates to see Jordan in any kind of pain, he can't help but rejoice in this chance he's been given to be with her. He takes her away to his cabin, and lets her know exactly how much he's always wanted her. Angelo treats her like a real woman instead of the fragile work of art Lee did, and Jordan feels free to indulge in her sexuality with this strong, sensual, agressive yet caring man. Whew, turn up the a/c with this one - it's HOT! My favorite of the three stories.

"Mythe Satyr": This story is more mythical than the previous two, but not any less enjoyable. Pepper St. John is a powerful witch still trying to get a grip on her powers. She senses something from another world, a need for her, so she tries to break through and find the man from her visions. Arys is a satyr, a creature of Mythe and a Gatekeeper to that world who is still mourning the loss of his wife and unborn child, and doesn't care for all the lively pursuits he once indulged in. Until one day someone breaks through to his world and falls right into his arms. Pepper is not sure what to think of this wonderous place, where the conversation is lyrical and the creatures are incredibly beautiful. It's not her world, but can she think to leave it, and to leave Arys, whom she needs just as badly as he needs her? Danger approaches, and Pepper knows she can't ignore it, or let anything happen to Arys, who makes her feel more alive than she's ever been. Readers will be entranced by this world, and hypnotized by the poetic language. Very charming story.

Shiloh Walker does an amazing job of writing wickedly sexy and creative stories guaranteed to spark your own imagination. I usually don't care much for the paranormal or fantastical settings, but Shiloh captures your attention from the beginning and doesn't let go until the last page. She's an auto-buy author for me.

I enjoyed every aspect of "When You Dance with the Devil." The storyline exhibited innovation and a good measure of originality, the characters were real, but chief among my reasons for enjoying this story? The way Gwynne Forster writes. Her writing style is inexplicable. Simply put, she has a way with words and she knows how to tell a story.

"When You Dance with the Devil" brings us into the lives of the residents of Thank the Lord Boarding House. The newest residents are Jolene and Richard. As the novel begins, Jolene's acrimonious mother dies after she gave Jolene a lifetime full of heartache and sadness. She had taken care of her mother for several years all by herself. Jolene never received a thank you or any other form of appreciation from her mother. Before she died, her mother instilled into her mind that men were unscrupulous, malicious individuals. After her mother dies, those thoughts remained in Jolene's mind; she began dating for the first time after her mother died and treats men unfairly, even the men who are gentlemanly toward her. After using a considerable amount of men, she receives a dose of her own medicine and soon realizes her wrongdoings. The reader is able to see some character growth in Jolene, but not an overwhelming amount. Jolene's mother truly damaged her because she never told her who her paternal father was. She never takes any steps to try and find him, but there is an interesting sequence as it relates to that situation. After a hellish saga, Jolene receives some light (although some darkness remained) at the end of the tunnel.

In this captivating novel, we are also introduced to Richard. Richard surrendered his once lavish lifestyle of career success, the finer material things, and so many women he is unable to recollect them all. He moves into Thank the Lord Boarding House and meets his first true friend, Judd. While there, he comes to the realization that the things he had prior to moving into the boarding house pale in comparison to the simple things in life such as love and camaraderie. He meets and falls in love with a police officer, Francine. Francine is very strong throughout the novel, something Richard had to get used to because she was not going to change and she let him know that.

This book had somewhat of a Hollywood ending, but don't misinterpret that because things weren't perfect in the end. I recommend this book to mature readers. Not because of the content of the book, but because the style of writing and storyline seem to be suitable to a mature individual. Personally, I was very impressed with this read. Superb!

WHEN YOU DANCE WITH THE DEVIL focuses primarily on two emotionally deplete individuals who have traveled completely opposite roads. But, who for a moment will share the same stoplight, a quaint, almost surreal boarding house near Ocean City, Maryland.

Sara Jolene Tillman's thirty-five years have given her an elemental existence. Mentally tortured by her mother, she grew up answering to abusive demands and hearing spews of hatred for men and herself. Her world is secluded, empty and lonely. Immediately after the death of her mother she flees the house that imprisoned her. Jolene, in search of herself, has to learn how to feel human and how to be a woman. What she experiences in Maryland could be a disastrous eye-opener.

Forty-four-year-old, Richard Peterson has lived a magnanimous life; a prestigious career in international government at one of the largest non-governmental organizations in the world. He was selfish, ruthless and dogmatic with his career and with women. But for all his accomplishments, Richard is as alone and emotionally naive as Jolene. He resigns his positions in search of a softer more human existence. Life at the boarding house is foreign to him.

WHEN YOU DANCE WITH THE DEVIL takes readers into the hearts of an eclectic cast of characters. Their placement in the story adds a subtle clarity to the message, my only adjustment was to the story's setting; I found it a little obscure. But the depth of the story lies in the austerity of the characters and their issues. Ms. Forster has given more than a story of redemption; it is a story that encompasses the growth of the inner-self, the cleansing of souls, and an exposure to a time that is strikingly old-fashioned. This story should appeal to the innocence in readers.

Finding Your True Self.......2007-01-08

When You Dance with the Devil by Gwynne Forster is a good read. The two main characters are Sara Jolene Tilman and Richard Peterson. The two storylines come together at the Thank the Lord Boarding House, located by the Atlantic Ocean in Maryland. The boarding house, owned and managed by Fannie Johnson, houses eleven other tenants who treat each other like family. This is the perfect location for one to be able to reflect on the life they have lived and where they would like to go.

Sara Jolene Tilman is a 35 year-old virgin from a small town, Hagerstown, Maryland. Her life had been smothered by her bitter and demanding mother. She has spent the last eleven years enduring mental torture caring for her bedridden grandmother and mother until their deaths. For the first time she is alone in the world and she is not aware of any other living relatives. She is ready for a fresh start. Jolene is the name she prefers after freeing herself from the pain and isolation of her former life. At the advice of Rev Phillip Coles, she heads for his sister's boarding house. Here she is "forced to face how socially awkward and achingly lonely she really is." This novel describes her struggles as a woman with low-self esteem searching for love and belonging. She attempts to change her life by getting a job, dating, and finding a female friend. Jolene looks for love in five different casual affairs that unfortunately turn disastrous. Will she ever find true love?

Richard Peterson is a 45 year-old handsome and polished gentleman who has reached the peak in his high-powered international career. Richard has stepped on others' backs on his climb to the top. He was also known as a ladies man and used women for his own pleasure. After his heart is broken by a beautiful woman, he stops to evaluate his life and he does not like the direction it has been going. On the advice of a friend, he too registers at Thank the Lord Boarding House. He is also ready for a fresh start. Richard works on overcoming his better than thou demeanor by volunteering and funding local community improvement initiatives. He also pledges abstinence as a way to right his wrong treatment of women. Will he ever love again?

With the help of one other character, Judd, the two were able to find themselves and peace. They were allowed to start fresh new lives, however never forgetting the past. There are some unexpected twists and turns that keep the reader searching for what will happen next. I thought the author was a little repetitive and I would like to have seen more character development. The title is appropriate for both main characters. Overall I would recommend this book.

Gwynne Forster has written a true to life story of your past being a step into your future and present. Sometimes your parents make a mistake in your upbringing, but one lesson that Jolene learns is at some point and time in your life you have to become responsible for what happens in your life. Just because someone doesn't teach you something, doesn't mean that you don't find an alternative to learn. Life sometimes can be a harsh teacher, but Jolene learns that she has to live to learn and that she does. The boarding house is a family knit home and as the residents bond you learn that you don't have to be raised together or belong to the same family blood line to love and respect others as a family. Sometimes your friends become closer than a brother/sister. Rev.Coles has learned also that keeping your mouth shut and doing nothing, can and will backfire on you. Richard is a self made success and has to learn that just being down to earth and real with others will gain him so much more than money and a career can buy. Judd is a realist and has the wisdom that people only dream about. When you step out and take a good look at yourself, you will see things that you don't like and that need to be changed. You learn that real friends don't pacify you by always agreeing with you, and at the same time they don't criticize and deliberately try to make you feel bad. Friends are there through thick and thin and guide you and commend you when appropriate. You actually get a vivid view in the lives of the boarders of Thank The Lord boarding house. A steady pace and you will not know where the story is going and where it will end up. Go get it today and enjoy.

This book is great! It is really a journal (you fill in) but with inspirational quotes and a forward that goads you to take time out for five minutes of relection every day. It tells you how to get started on the road to serenity and the life you always wanted but eluded you before. I'm giving it a half a dozen people for Christmas--it's especially appropriate for anybody going through tough times.

Perhaps, I was thinking wrongly, but when I think of everyday meals, I don't think of the recipes that are included in this book. I was looking forward to recipes that helped me fix many of things I already fix in a healthier way. Instead, I consider most of the recipes in this book to be fancy (things I might use for special occasions). Though I'm sure the recipes are wonderful (I haven't tried any yet), this is just not what I was expecting from the title.

Good Housekeeping has another winner with "Light & Healthy Cookbook: 375 Delectable Recipes for Everyday Meals." Recipes are presented in 10 different categories: 1) starters & appetizers, 2) soups, 3) pasta, 4) main dishes, 5) salads, 6) sandwiches & pizzas, 7) sauces & condiments, 8) bread, 9) desserts, and 10) beverages. The emphasis is generally on low-fat recipes with nourishing ingredients. Not all the recipes are extremely low-calorie; however, full nutritional information is included (calories, fat, calories from fat, carbohydrates, and sodium), allowing the reader to make informed choices.

The majority of recipes are for straight-ahead, no frills American food - the kind of fare you could easily make on a busy Tuesday night. About half the dishes are presented in full-color pictures. Further adding to the practicality of the cookbook is the relatively small number of ingredients required for most selections. As is the practice with Good Housekeeping, the recipes have been tested and re-tested to ensure reliability and ease of preparation. I've made a number of recipes from this cookbook, and I've been pleased every time. I particularly enjoyed the "Rigatoni with Beef-Fennel Sauce."

In addition to the recipes, a variety of helpful special sections are scattered throughout the book, such as "12 low-fat veggie toppings." Also, handy suggestions for accompaniments are made for many of the recipes, which could be used to develop full meals. As a result, readers could use this practical cookbook to design healthy eating patterns and an improved lifestyle. Highly recommended for readers who enjoy no-fuss cookbooks.

No other interior design book is needed........2007-07-15

Finally an interior design book that gives information you can use and not just pretty pictures. I have now boxed up all of my other interior design books to give away because everything I need to know is in this one book. The book gives you rules you can use. For example, the actual measurements you should allow for free space around a bed, sofa and dining table. She gives the distance you should have between conversation areas, side tables and lamp heights required for specific areas. Each step in the book is well written and provides answers to all you will need to know to make your home beautiful.

An Organized Approach to Decorating.......2006-04-12

This beautifully illustrated book of interior designs shows the work of Cecil Hayes. She has a style all her own which may or may not be to your liking. However, in creating these designs she has come up with a list of nine steps in the decorating process:

If you really want to understand the "why" behind interior design, this is the book for you. The book is written in an easy, informative style and Cecil goes out of her way to make it understandable for the average person. Even after working for her for several years, I learned sooo much from this book that its incredible. Cecil's teachning background is readily apparent and she shares the secret of her personal design process wholeheartedly!

Anyone who wants to create their own one-of-a-kind interior design, is contemplating a career in interior design, or who is generally interested in interior design will find this book inspirational. Humorous anecdoes, professional wisdom, and the life lessons of a celebrated interior designer, all rolled into a teaching text on interior design. Highly, highly recommended!

DEEP SEA VERBOSITY.......2006-08-16

This classic, WAR & PEACE, attempts to awaken the reader to the realities of media that lie hidden in his own mind. These realities are composed of the everything in the current "electric world," of signs, of real words and nonsense sounds, of pictures, of stuff, of technologies, of clothes, of weapons, of food, and of chemicals, all of which McLuhan calls media and the extensions of man. Can the reader who knows nothing of the pre-electric world be awakened to perceive it? A difficult question since there are all kinds of readers from the primitive to the scientist to the computer programmer.

Indeed, McLuhan and Fiore take the reader on a impossible journey into the guts and gear works of the human brain. Did the Authors bridge any gaps or just create new, unknown ones? Everything about this book is difficult. This includes the often obscure passages on every other page from Joyce's FINNEGANS WAKE.

The Authors advance the notion that all behavior, war and violence, stems from man's search for his identity. "So that today war, as it were, has become the little Red Schoolhouse of the global village."(P. 125) War has become the educator and education becomes war. "No one has studied what degree of innovation is required to shatter the self image of a man or a society." And how can man understand himself when he is always engaged in "rearview mirrorism?" Man looks backward because he can't see forward.

In addition, all the media surrounding man is merely raw material for man's info processor, his brain. Thus man is hooked on his current media like a drug addict is hooked on that which alters his sensual input. Man, himself, is but a collection of information. Immersed in this sea of info, like a fish in water, how can man sort out those bits that beg for priority? By understanding the info that composes himself, can man escape his own senses, those that compose and shape his every move? One doubts it!

Is Your Brain OK or KO?.......2000-05-24

Media theorist Marshall McLuhan does a double take on the Massage by doubling his informative view of the media world splicing effect after effect after effect. Beginning locally in the village of small tribal cultures of oratory dominance demonstrating the break of the sensorium which created a tactile society. Moving through history as if fragmented in its own way recapitulating the effects of media which broke up the senses and amputated the limbs of our physical and psychical systems. Although written in 1968, McLuhan moves right into the present times understanding first, electricity as extension of the nervous system and lucidly stating that LSD, the psychedelics of the past are equal in effects to the modern day computer as a recomposure of our being. From our computer realities, one can easily define theirs as an integrated inter-net, linking one another through digital media that is light speed. McLuhan understood the implications of Einsteinian-ENIAC models of the world and distupted the passive television view with this commercial interuption to wake up the senses. Reccomended for McLuhan lovers and those who are still watching TV on a regular basis.

Once again, McLuhan and Fiore team up to provide us with an excellent summation of all of the drastic effects of the transition to electric circutry as the prime form of media. I recommend reading The Medium is the Massage first.

Lousy title, great book........1998-02-27

If McLuhan hadn't been dead for almost twenty years, he could have written this book yesterday. He speaks to this moment in time. "We are all robots when uncritically involved with our technologies." He makes the point that we have met the enemy and they is us. He asserts that man has evolved beyond Darwin's limited concept of biological evolution, and we have evolved ourselves with our technology. The computer being an extension of our nervous system, which now senses the whole world. The pain of modern existence is to be found in the strain of this evolution, and therefor, to be for-warned is to be for-armed. "Unlike the animals, man has no nature but his own history. Electronically, this total history is now potentially present in a kind of simultaneous transparency that carries us into a world of what Joyce calls 'heliotropic noughttime.' We have been rapt in 'the artifice of eternity' by placing our nervous system around the entire globe." Tired of wondering why you think life sucks? There is some healing balm hear to be found.
