Aurelia is a document of dreams, obsession, and insanity. An account of Nerval's unrequited passion for an actress and subsequent descent into madness, this book was a favorite of artist Joseph Cornell's, and its author was championed by both Marcel Proust and Andre Breton. One of the original self-styled "bohemians," Nerval was best known in his own day for parading a lobster on a pale blue ribbon through the gardens of the Palais-Royal, and for his suicide in 1855, hanging from an apron string he called the garter of the Queen of Sheba. Geoffrey Wagner's translation of Aurelia was first published by Grove Press in 1959, but has remained out of print for nearly twenty years. Included are previously untranslated stories, and poet Robert Duncan's version of the sonnet cycle "Chimeras"- making this the most complete collection of Nerval ever published in English.

This was the first book I read by Antonin Artaud.
I was really moved by this man and he helped me
realize that one could an outsider yet still
remain in centricity of culture. I don't know
alot of it went over my head I guess but the
man is extremely interesting and offers neat

Concentrated Romanticism .......2006-12-29
I love Nerval's voice and his lush dreamy nostalgia. Many of these pieces are like looking at a Rococo painting and there's many of the classic Romantic themes, love of nature, nostalgia for a lost idyllic past and lost youth. I love literary surrealism so Aurelia was right up my alley but it has a more spiritual vibe which seems lacking in more modern surrealist works. After reading Nerval I can see why the surrealists considered themselves the prehensile tail of Romanticism.

simultaneously one of the saddest and most hopeful books i have ever read, this is an account of gerard de nerval's descent into insanity and his frantic search for something beyond what the positivists offer, a "spirit world". nerval obsesses over an actress who barely knew he existed, idealizing her to a seriously nutty point--but during all this he visits funerals, graveyards other places, apparently believing he is in touch with something metaphysical. i read this book awhile ago but i do remember his reference to his rejection by the woman, aurelia:"one's only option after these kinds of events is whether to die or go on living." touching, mystical, and sad.

that's the best way to put it: like condensed Proust. De Nerval's stories of place, love, and memory have found a permanent place in my heart. As other reviewers have noted, these stories seem the very definition of romanticism-- an unexpected quality in a writer often remembered most for his madness, eccentricity, and ultimately, suicide.
this edition by Exact Change Press is also worth remarking upon: the paper feels great, the design is perfect... hmm, running out of synonyms for "good."
all in all, a great volume by a lesser-known master.
Best explanation of a Romantic.......1999-02-02
Because this book shows what a real romantic means beyond the common meaning of "being in love". Because De Narval is a Romantic, he behaves trying to be the center of everything, no matter the price or the pride. He loves as a tool to make women move around him. His dreams are an extension of his life, so he can live any dream as real because the memorie of the real is the same as the memorie of the dream.

Ms O'Banyon is a wonderful author. Texas Proud is well written with a unique plot and surprising twists. The characters are so defined that u can feel their angst and their passion. The dialogue is witty and real. Best of all Rachel is as strong a female lead as her counterpart Nobel Vincente. It also gives a post traumatic stress perspective of that post civil war era. How incredibly simply she defines that war: a civil war that was anything but civil. I love that era because emotions were intense, actions theoretically noble and history so defining.
A good all round book........
TEXAS PROUD IS WONDERFUL!!!.......2001-10-19
This is Noble Vincente's story and the prequel to his sister, Sabor Vincente's story in RIDE THE WIND. Rachel belives that Noble killed her father, and when he returns to town, she is laying in wait for him. She loves him desperately, but she believes she has to avenge her father's death. What a wonderful story--it opens with Rachel's gun trained on the unsuspecting Noble. I read it twice and will probably read it again. After you read this you will want to go on and read RIDE THE WIND which is equally wonderful!!!

I've read all of Constances books and they are all wonderful. this one is no different. Noble and Rachel make a perfect couple. this one truly pulls at the strings of your heart, and leaves you with happiness, tears, and longing. It is books like these that allow you to believe that Love truly does exist in a beautiful form.

I love every page of this book. I could not put it down. His characters and the places surrounding them are so vivid you can see them. His writing is excellent, great detail and suspence in each chapter. You cannot guess the end of this book unless you go to the last page. A great weekend read.

This is a great book! 365 days of keeping God's Word for healing in front of your eyes and in your heart. Creative, fun and easy!!!.......2003-08-22
I borrowed this book from a local library and I liked it so much I bought my own copy. I had never used a sewing machine before except for a toy one when I was about 9 but I guess that doesn't count.
I found this book quite helpful. There are step-by-step pictures for each project which of course was a big plus for me.
Another thing I liked was the variety of projects I could choose from. The books includes sections on:
Bedding Basics, Bedspreads, Duvet Covers, Bed Skirts, Pillow Shams, Decorative Closures for Shams & Duvets, Decorative Details for Bed Linens, Bedside Caddy, Sheer Overlay Pillows, Rod-Pocket Curtains, Curtains Tiebacks, Curtain Hardware, Basic Shower Curtains, Shower Curtains with Tucked Borders ,Curtains with Draped Headings, Banded Shower Curtains, Sink & Vanity Skirts, Fringed-fabric Rugs, Decorative Towels, Hamper Liner Laundry Bag, and Working with Decorator Fabrics
All sections have easy-to-follow instructions. You are probably mentally challenged if you can't follow the simple steps in this book. Remember, I had never used a sewing machine before. Many of the projects look fancy and complicated but are easy to make.
Disappointed to say the least.......2001-03-23
I bought this book because I thought it would teach me how to make decorative towels and other items for my home. However, I was very disappointed with the instructions and photograghs. It didn't explain every step. It left a lot of guess work. I was especially disppointed to find out there were only 6 towel designs and out the 6 designs only two of them I thought were creative. The other 4 I think anyone could do without any instructions from a book. Very Disappointed.

Katrin Cargill is a very resourceful and inspiring designer, with a clean, " livable " style. Her designs are simple, beautiful and functional. She is able of creating an impression of cosiness and elegance out of the simplest of fabrics.
The layout of " Bed Linen " is, just as of her other books in the same series, very user-friendly (to beginners, that should be I believe, one of the top priorities ), with detailed, coloured, fold-out drawings.
Having said that, I would advise the editors to look again at this particular book's choice of designs. Nice as they may be, we tend to have the impression of an inadequatelly researched and somewhat hurriedly assembled crowd of sometimes beautiful but underdeveloped and somehow repetitive ideas. And this certainly doesn't make a favor to the author.
The sub-categories included could be better arranged in two separate books, one with pillows, sheets, bedspreads and dust ruffles, and one with canopies and headboards.
For a more ample idea of what Ms. Cargill can really offer you, look also for her wonderful " Simple Curtains " and her rich " Fabrications ".
This is a useful book, with ideas easily put to practice that won't ruin your budget,while offering the bedroom an immediate graceful uplift.

Let me first say that Katrin Cargill is a very inspirational stylist. The format of all her Home Living Workbook series is user friendly and the instructions simple and adequately illustrated. However, she seems to have run out of inspiration on this particular book.The projects and the fabrics used are all too common. The Bed Linens book is not useless, but I believe that an improved edition would be necessary to keep up to her readers' expectations.To anyone new in sewing I would suggest her perfect Simple Curtains. I would also recommend saving money for the wonderful Fabrications, a constant source of sewing inspirations or even sheer day dreaming!

This book is great! It's simple step-by-step, pictures are very colorfull, instructions are laid out very nicely, and there are some great techniques in the back. All the supplies are listed at the beginning of the project and the yardage includes a half-inch seam allowance. I picked up the hard copy at the library, and I liked it so well that I'm getting the book for myself.

Pretty pictures, excellent photography, lots of neat things to look at, visually stimulating--this is a great book to leave out as a conversation piece. Or to thumb through before bed, very relaxing!
But as far as the knowledge dispersed, it is nothing new. Or maybe I just know my percales and thread counts and different fill fibers better than the average shopper?

Which countries receive the most exports from Brazil? How are these exports concentrated across buyers? What is the value of these exports and which countries are the largest buyers? This report was created for strategic planners, international marketing executives and import/export managers who are concerned with the market for bed, table, toilet, and kitchen linens in Brazil. With the globalization of this market, managers can no longer be contented with a local view. Nor can managers be contented with out-of-date statistics which appear several years after the fact. I have developed a methodology, based on macroeconomic and trade models, to estimate the market for bed, table, toilet, and kitchen linens for those countries serving Brazil via exports, or supplying from Brazil via imports. It does so for the current year based on a variety of key historical indicators and econometric models. In what follows, Chapter 2 begins by summarizing where Brazil fits into the world market for imported and exported bed, table, toilet, and kitchen linens. The total level of imports and exports on a worldwide basis, and those for Brazil in particular, is estimated using a model which aggregates across over 150 key country markets and projects these to the current year. From there, each country represents a percent of the world market. This market is served from a number of competitive countries of origin. This is probably the best quick inspiration guide I've seen yet. It's small and easy to reference, and it actually helps a lot. Anybody who has ever had a mental block while trying to brainstorm would benefit from this book.

The book is very interesting. Each page has a topic and associated pitures. If you hit a rough patch with creativity it will get your mind moving again. You won't nec. agree with all of the images and you should NOT count on the book for ideas. It works as a strange coffee table book. It works strangely with music too.

I had high expectations for this book... but it's just a bunch of ugly clip art related to different key words. I like the book, in theory, but it could have been executed in a way that a designer might actually like it... to me, it just seems thrown together... it didn't help with the job I bought it for, but maybe it'll help in the future.

This is probably the single best book I've ever read about the Dead. It's so much more immediate and satisfying to hear how things went down from the Dead themselves than from a faceless biographer. David Gans asks the questions *I* would have asked Jerry & Bob & Phil & Mickey & Billy. You'll feel like you're there hanging out in their living room with them. A wonderful insight into what made that magical machine run for over 30 years...
