Excelente historia de Stephen King, en la cual relata la vida de un carcelero de los años 30, el cual se topa con un preso con poderes divinos, que le cambiaran la vida a él y a todos los que trabajan ahi. Realmente uno de los mejores libros de Stephen King que he leido, muy recomendable.

Please don't waste your money on this book. For being a Latina Mary Castillo could not possibly get her Spanish any worse. In one scene the a character says "deseo besarle otra vez" WHAT DOES THAT MEAN??? deseo besarte otra vez or te deso besar otra vez COME ON what would a little proof reading hurt anyone?? The story line is weak, characters aren't well developed. Extremely glad I recived this book for free and did not waste one cent on it.

I don't read romance novels and I did not expect this to be a romance novel. I thought it would be more along the lines of Alisa Valdez Rodriguez style as I found this author through her. I have to say it was the most enjoyable romance novel I have read and seemed true to life and the location it was set in. I then read Mary's second novel and liked it even better. I am not going to start reading romance novels but I will read any new work by Mary Castillo.

All I should say about this book is SAVE YOUR MONEY! Not only is the theme trite and hackneyed, but the worst part is that the author, who is Hispanic,cannot get her Spanish right! How hard can it be in Los Angeles to come up with a competent proof reader? I concede that there are instances in which the author obviously intends the Spanish to be colloquial, but they are far outnumbered by the glaring, blatant mistakes. Using foreign words and phrases just for the heck of it and not providing a treanslation is pretentious enough, but to get it all wrong is impardonable. Given the option, I would not have given this piece of trash even one star, and will certainly avoid buying any other books by Ms. Castillo, although as a general rule I support and enjoy reading modern Hispanic fiction. Part chic-lit, part traditional romance. I loved it! The characters are well drawn and the Latin flavor is so strong, I felt I was home with my own family for Sunday afternoon BBQs. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to read an authentic Latina romance.

This is a fast, fun read. I'd consider it more of a contemporary romance though than a chick lit. I was really looking foward to this book, and wish it had been a bit longer, so we could spend more time with the characters, and go a little deeper.

Uh... In a word... Awesome!.......2007-08-25

Words alone can't describe it... but I'll try. At first glance it appears to be a very small & petite book. It's a little less than 200 pages. I kind of thumbed through and thought, "yeah... whatever!" After having the time to sit down and actually go through it thoroughly... WOW! This manual is simply amazing. With this manual you can virtually marry any denominational or non-denominational, or revise a ceremony to fit just about any type of marriage. There's a chapter on pre-marriage counseling for the couple to be, music suggestions, prayer suggestion... you name... even a check list and so on... it's "ALL" there. This is definitely a must have for the new or seasoned minister. Forget the rest... or not... this is absolutely the best!

This book contains a variety of services for different Christian denominations: Baptist, Christian and Missionary Alliance, Episcopalian, Evangelical, Lutheran, Methodist (including The Free Methodist Church of North America and The Wesleyan Church), Presbyterian, and Reformed (Christian Reformed Church and Reformed Church in America). There are a few alterate wedding ceremonies, including two versions of a "contemporary" service and a service in recognition of a Civil Marriage. All are Christian.

One of the useful features of the ceremonies is that they are broken down into sections. Here is one example: Prelude, Music, Lighting of Candles, Processional, Welcome, Invocation, Readings, Parting from Parents, Declaration of Intent, Exchange of Vows, Exchange of Rings, Lighting of Unity Candle, Pronouncement of Marriage, Benediction, Introduction of Newlyweds. This makes it easier to create customized ceremonies by adding, skipping, or changing the order of certain sections.

Some alternative vows and wedding prayers are offered, in the event that the bride and groom want to make these sections more personal by choosing their favorite. Suggestions for wedding music are given. A sample checklist is included, to be used by the pastor or minister when working with the bride and groom to plan the wedding. And, an example is given for the proper ettiquette for the positioning of the bride, groom, and attendants during the processional.

I found this book to be good for Christian denomination weddings. It covers a wide range of these. However, it excludes a non-denominational or non-religious wedding. Nonetheless, for someone conducting a wedding, it will provide you with some great ideas about different facets of the ceremony.

Don't plan a wedding without it!.......2001-08-16

Engle's book is a must-have resource for anyone planning a wedding. When the pastor marrying us asked us what we wanted in our vows, we had no idea. Baker's Wedding Handbook gives information on nearly every denomination from Baptist to Reformed. The section for each denomination not only lists tradtional vows for that denomination, but includes traditional wedding hymns and prayers typically used. In the second section of the book, Engle presents more contemporary wedding traditions, including several for second marriages. Meditations for wedding ceremonies are included in the final section of the book. The meditations are beautiful!

I loved this book. Lots of books like this look very oldfashioned and ordinary but Antonia Lomny's designs are very original and well designed.

I am new to gold embrodiering myself and haven't tried to make any of the projects yet but my eighty one year old Grand Mother's halfway through one now and it already looks fabulous , so they can't be that hard.

My only thought is a hardback would have been better for a gift book, and I would have put the colour pictures all in the right chapters. But that's just a little quibble. This is lovely collection of designs from a very talented artist.

I was given this recently by another devotee of gold thread and I've had no trouble following the instructions and creating two of the projects so far. I have a way to go before I get close to the authors skill but I'm still happy with what this book has taught me. I can't understand why anyone would give this book less than 4 stars. It's stunning. I totally recommend it and am really looking forward to her next goldwork book. A perfect gift for us stitchoholics.

NOT recommended.......2005-06-24

1. This book has no illustrations of the techniques described; all it has are verbal descriptions of how to form the stitches, etc., and for a craft book, that's an inexcusable oversight. It is very difficult to explain handwork with words, and the author's descriptions are completely insufficient to the task.
2. The author has failed to consider her target audience. Though the book is supposedly for beginner to expert levels, the author skips over many explanations needed to make these techniques clear for less experienced stitchers.
3. When describing each stitch, the author refers the reader to the photographs of finished pieces--unfortunately the photos are of such poor quality that it's difficult to see any detail, and as the projects have no keys to help you tell which section or line is which, it's often difficult to tell which part of the project the text refers to.
