Book Description
Around the end of the sixteenth century, several expiditions tried to establish a north-east passage to Asia, but fog, pack-ice, and the confusing geography of the coast of Russia proved consistently confusing. No one pursued a north-east passage with such tenacious skill as the Dutch sailing-master William Barents.

Book Description.......2005-08-13
When Captain Spense and his lovely daughter Isabel rescued a man whose ship was floundering at sea, they took aboard the ruthless privateer Simon Dante. After seizing command of the ship, Simon set out to win another treasure, Isabel, a rare beauty with the expert navigational skills he needed to strike again on the high seas. Original
Beau is a wonderful leading lady!.......2004-12-08
I have no complaints when it comes to this book. Beau is a excellent heroine. I grow tired of leading heroines depending on a guy for everything, even though they say their independent. That is definetly not the case with Beau, shes intelligent, witty and passionate. She does her job to the T so no one can say she didn't earn her palce on the ship. She has a tongue thats quick and can sometimes land her into trouble but thats part of her charm. Across a Moonlit Sea was the first book I read by Marsha Canham, and when my copy got lost, I had to buy another one, cause I couldn't get the story out of my head! This is a serious page tuner, and a book I often pick up when I want a guarenteed good read. I'm now searching for more books by this talented author!
Beau Spence Kicks Skye O'Malley's Arse!.......2003-02-22
I say this because in both Moonlit Sea and Skye O'Malley, a female with sailing knowledge in the Elizabethan era is prominent. Readers tend to praise Skye, but I think Beau is a much better and more likeable character and deserves a place among the finest heroines of the genre.
A few people have dissed this book for being historically inaccurate. So be it. Maybe Canham missed the authenticity mark by a bit, but she more than makes up for it by presenting a storyline and characters the reader can really feel.
A Pirates Delight.......2002-08-09
I absolutely loved this book. I think Marsha Canham did a great job of writing this book. There seemed to be a few facts in the story that I believe were incorrect, but no big deal to me. Her discription of all the characters was wonderful; especially the cook. It actually made me laugh out loud. Her description of the ship and it's manoeuvres seemed right on. This book was adventurous, humorous and sexy enough for me to truly not want it to end. I have never kept a book with the intent of ever reading it again, but I do not want to part with this book just in case. I love pirate stories and this one did not disappoint me at all. I hope you find it as enjoyable as I did.
Disappointing............2002-08-02
I bought this book because of the glowing reviews, but was sooo letdown...I mean...I'm not saying that this book was horrible, I just found myself struggling to get through it..I didn't connect with the characters at all....this was my first book by Marsha Canham..I honestly don't think Ill buy another.

Book Description
For almost three decades, William Shatner has portrayed STAR TREK's gallant commander of the legendary Starship Enterprise and her crew. Now William Shatner brings his unique blend of talents as actor, writer, director, and producer, to tell the story only he can, of Captain Kirk's greatest adventure...
The time: six months prior to the launch of the U.S.S. Enterprise 1701-B and the tragic loss of Captain James T. Kirk in deep space. The place: Earth, where the galaxy's most renowned hero must now face the specter of retirement and a life devoid of challenge and excitement.
But in the apparent twilight of his career, Kirk's path takes an unexpected turn when a mysterious young woman offers him an irresistible adventure--a perilous voyage to an uncharted planet where he will confront the ultimate threat to the fragile peace between the Federation and the Klingon Empire, and the ultimate temptation--a chance to recapture his youth.

Part I of the Kirk Saga. The beginning novel of the greatest Star Trek saga ever written........2006-10-13
Like many great sagas out there the first chapter tends to be the best, and Ashes of Eden proves that theory to be true. The finale of the 10 part Kirk Saga "Captain's Glory" is absolutely superb too, but that review is on another webpage. Anyway, I read this book originally when I was 15 years old when it came out and couldn't put it down. I have recently reread Ashes of Eden as well as its two counterparts "The Return" and "Avenger." (these three novels make up the first trilogy entitled "The odyssey").
This time around I enjoyed Ashes of Eden ten fold. Not only is the book fast paced, full of action, and actually more of a love story, it has many things that trek fans love. Great interaction between the original crew, the Excelsior in action, and the true fate of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-A.
If you have never read a Shatner Kirk novel YOU MUST START WITH THIS ONE! William Shatner does a marvelous job building on each novel and when the day comes you finally read the concluding chapter "Captain's Glory", you will be grateful you read them all in order. There are 9 novels totaling the Kirk Saga.
Again, Star Trek Ashes of Eden is a superb novel and arguably one of the greates Star Trek novels ever printed. 10/10 A+.
Civilian Kirk Captains the Enterprise Again.......2006-10-12
This is the first Star Trek novel that William Shatner collaborated on. He has since collaborated on others and written many on his own, in addition to the successful Tek Wars, which was made in to a TV series. I read the original hardback version, which is now out of print.
Here we find a retired, now civilian, James Kirk in a new adventure to save an independent planet recognized by the Federation, but claimed by both the Romulan and the Klingon Empires. Kirk is once again asked to become the Captain of the Enterprise.
But the Enterprise is no longer a Federation Ship. She has now been decommissioned and stripped of much of her equipment, too top-secret to be allowed on a now-civilian vessel. The vessel has been bought by an independent planet, Chal, and handed to Kirk, for his new assignment. That assignment is unclear at first, but the full story gradually is revealed, and Kirk finds himself on a different adventure than he first imagined.
Kirk's former crew under Captain Sulu get caught up in a high-level plot to undermine the whole Federation, and the trail leads right to the top. A showdown occurs at the planet Kirk has been contracted to save, where Kirk's former crew are pitted against Kirk and his new planetary defense force.
Kirk finds himself facing down the Commander in Chief of the Federation, who shows up to join his special team, Sulu and crew, in a new twist of this strange scenario developing on planet Chal. Kirk in his new role on behalf of Chal, is captain of the private, remiliatarized Enterprise as a defense ship for the almost defenseless planet.
A secret treasure of information on the planet holds a key to interpreting this mystery, unexpected even by the beleaguered inhabitants who invited Kirk to develop a defense for them.
Surprisingly well rounded.......2006-05-14
Firstly, I love William Shatner, he is just someone I enjoy watching--he clearly takes a great deal of enjoyment from what he does also. The same is true to this book, it is at times easy to see through the prose to perhaps other more personal moments, as it is hard to seperate Kirk from Shatner--and it makes interesting reading to ponder what Shatner is thinking and saying though his most famous character.
I was impressed, first and foremost at how well he utilized the other characters. Chekov is given impressive amounts of page time, Spock and McCoy are well written and Scotty is the only member of the original crew who accompanies Kirk on his crazy mission (loyalty to the Enterprise afterall). I agree with one of the other reviewers, that perhaps this was Shatner's olive branch to James Doohan. The characters have several thoughtful conversations where Kirk admits to himself that he has often not listened to Scotty as he should have.
The plot isn't an end of the world one, its Kirk in the middle of an extreme midlife crisis, along with a good old dose of rivalry (an old Academy classmate of Kirk's who is now head of Starfleet). I did find at times that I felt the book was a little too long and so skimmed someof the more descriptive scenes.
The book is very thoughtful, even though it does have some action moments too, but it ties in huge amounts of the Trek Universe (I'm guessing alot of this is the work of Shatner's helpmates). It is also more thought provoking than most of the trek books out there.
I really enjoyed this book as of the original series books I have been reading so far this has some of the BEST characterizations I have seen. (I really was expecting alot more of Kirk in a blaze of glory but instead Kirk is a very well layered and human character, with very noticable flaws, more so than on film it seems)
Another opinion of 'Ashes of Eden'.......2005-12-23
'Ashes of Eden' is an interesting read. What's refreshing is:
This is NOT a 'save the universe' story nor a 'galactic civil war'. It well describes an older, but 'not retired from life' Capt.Kirk. A life he tries to adapt to immediately after hanging up the uniform. I enjoyed the written personal touches Shatner added and he really keeps Kirk in true form. Book reads as 2 stories, blending into one. We see our familiar chars from the original series, albeit on separate courses, eventually all coming to one. I could not put this book down. It is Kirks' attempt to be happy not realizing he is to be involved in one more 'grand adventure'.
Interesting to me was some elements of 'Star Trek VI' movie are adapted. You'll see as you read.
This would have been neat to see filmed as 'Star Trek VII' for it follows the natural timeline.
Ties in the original journeys from the series to the films!.......2005-11-18
This is definately one of the best Star Trek (original Crew) books I've ever read. Time & time again, the book continues to make references to major occurances that have happened in the Star Trek Universe past (U.S.S. Farragut, V'ger, David Marcus' death, Camp Khitomer...etc.) & relates them to the present day issue occurring in the book. If your a big fan of the first 6 films, you'll love how that material fits into the material of this book & how it relates to what Kirk now faces. I'm no Super-Trekkie who's read over 40 Star Trek books (I've probably read 4 or 5), but if your looking to read only one or perhaps your 1st, make it this one!

Book Description
Charles Haddon Spurgeon, the "Prince of Preachers," composed and polished The Treasury of David over the span of nearly half his ministry. This incomparable commentary and omnibus on the Psalms has been prized by Christians ever since.
Spurgeon's own commentary on every verse of the Psalms is extremely insightful, and by itself it would have been rich enough for posterity. But there's much more in The Treasury of David. You'll find a wealth of illuminating extracts and quotes from hundreds of commentatorsÂcontemporaries of Spurgeon as well as the great Puritan expositors of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Preachers and teachers will appreciate the homiletical hints on almost every verse, concise sermon outlines, and provocative seed thoughts. Useful bibliographies and an index of authors offer more practical help.
Whether you're teaching on the Psalms, studying them for personal devotions, or simply intrigued by the writings of Spurgeon, you'll enjoy this splendid classic.
Customer Reviews:
Is review needed?.......2006-07-20
While Spurgeon's magnum opus is neither technical nor devotional it can meet either of those needs. It is inconceivable that anyone would have an interest in the Psalms and not have these volumes on the shelves.
Great work..........2006-04-29
This is a great commentary series on the Psalms and has the same feel as Spurgeon's sermons. Great resource for any teacher and pastor to prepare in study for the Psalms. Very detailed, which I can't say the same for other commentaries done during this same time period.
The price once again shows how many people have lost interest in both commentaries and our past church saints.
If you are going to be going through the Psalms in your own study or teaching you should definitely have this at your disposal.
A Real Treasure.......2005-09-19
This writing has really opened the book of Psalms. The teaching of Spurgeon is just beyond words.
Most Helpful Compendium.......2005-04-07
During my years as a pastor and professor Treasury of David has been invaluable. Like most of Spurgeon's writings it is a collection of all the available and pertinent research on any given text. Furthermore, it helps in crafting application steps for the congergation. This one is so good that a fellow professor in Brussels used it for his daily devotional guide.
One of the most important works I've ever read........2005-02-25
I had these three volumes on my shelf for years. I referred to them as reference volumes. They are quite helpful for this, but I found them to be far more valuable when my wife and I began reading through these treasures devotionally.
We were in a particularly down time of our lives. Providentially, I picked up volume one, and we began reading this commentary aloud together. I cannot tell you how much God has comforted and grown us as a result of this devotional practice.
I recommend the Treasury of David, not merely as a commentary for use as a reference volume, but as one of the most beautiful devotionals ever penned. Take your time. Read meditatively, and be refreshed.
And, may I add, read the unabridged version. I have looked at the modern abridgment versions of this masterpiece, and I have been disappointed.
Customer Reviews:
Both volumes of this book are GREAT!.......2007-06-15
I own both volumes of this book and both are great! You cannot go wrong with buying both volumes ,or just one. Together though, both volumes are so valuable!
But if you must own just one of the volumes (in this series) then buy this volume first, & then see if you need the next volume. It could be that this volume fills your need, since this volume is packed with soooo much information! Also, the color photos are just great!
This is a must reference book for any doll collector........1999-04-11
Of all my years of collecting dolls, I've never seen such a complete and informative book. Most impressive are the clear color pictures and the interesting discussion of the Cameo doll company. I.m very pleased with this purchase and recommend it to novice as well as experienced doll collectors.
The bible on composition & wood dolls and toys!.......1999-04-11
An extremely resourceful book. Deep histories and information on composition & wood dolls, plus an extensive photo gallery of many rare dolls. A must have for any collector in their right mind!
The best book on the subject I have ever seen!.......1998-07-10
Most books like this only show pictures with prices. Michele's book gives me more information, background and a true understanding about the dolls, there origins, and the true history. Besides, it's a fun book to read with great photos. I'm glad I found it.

Worth every penny!.......2002-03-24
It is not meant to be a teach-it-all book. The best thing about this book is that it summarises the work of 20 of the best Adobe Illustrators out there. Each illustrator has his/her own unique creativity style, which is highly inspirational! It also provides a list of these illustrators' personal websites, which the reader can check out for more sample work. Some of these websites also offer links to other illustrators not featured in this book. Their work is equally impressive.
Really Cool!.......1999-07-11
When buying this book, I was not looking for a "teach me how" Illustrator book. There are many of those that you can purchase. The main goal when purchasing this book was to familiarize myself with the top Illustrator experts out there. Although, it's not the typical huge books you are accustomed to as a designer, it's worth buying IF you want to see the artistic creations from some of the best Adobe Illustrator Experts out there. Some experts show you how they designed their popular designs and advertisements. Check it out!

Book Description
Though he was haunted by the shadow of his legendary father and devastated by alcoholism, Lon Chaney, Jr., carved out a very successful film career as Universal's leading horror star in the 1940s, and later as a leading character actor in Westerns, dramas, and on television. While rightly focused on the career of the underrated actor, this study also explores his life and times.
Customer Reviews:
Good book if you don't know anything about Chaney.......2005-09-24
If you know nothing about the films and career of Lon Chaney Jr., then you will get something out of this book. However, if you are like me (and probably most people who would be interested in reading a book about Lon Chaney Jr.), you already know about his film career and most of the books content is going to be stuff you already know. I wanted to read about his life and times, which it has a little of, but mostly it was overviews of his movies. Personally I would rather just watch the movies instead of reading about them.
This is a fairly good biography of my favorite actor........1999-05-01
As a Lon Chaney,Jr.fan,I feel that this book, though interesting, leaves one strangely disatisfied at it's conclusion. I really expected much more from this somewhat one-sided biography. The portrait that Mr.Smith provides about Lon Chaney,Jr,is often far too negative.
A disappointing biography on Lon Chaney, Jr........1998-09-29
There has never been a definitive biography of Lon Chaney, Jr., and this book does nothing to fill that void. Based primarily on other source books, author Don G. Smith displays little eveidence of hard research in this text. It is overladen with long-winded synopses of Chaney Jr.'s films, while the actor's early life, growing up with his father, his mother's attempted suicide and subsequently being lead to believe she was dead are hardly dealt with. It is quite obvious that the author simply pulled a few previously written books and cut-and-pasted the material into his text. A shoddy piece of writing and film research. The filmogrpahy is very minimal, but the TV appearances are well detailed. In all, Lon Chaney, Jr. does deserve a detailed biography. This one isn't it!
