Book Description
From the "Queen of Suspense," Mary Higgins Clark, and bestselling author Carol Higgins Clark -- the acclaimed mother/daughter duo -- comes this holiday treat, a heartwarming tale of redemption and love.
He Sees You When You're Sleeping
Sterling Brooks has been cooling his heels in the Celestial Waiting Room for forty-six years, waiting for admission to heaven. Finally, just days before Christmas, he's summoned before the Heavenly Council and found unworthy; throughout his life he had been hopelessly self-absorbed. To redeem himself, he is given the chance to go back to Earth and find someone to help.
At New York's Rockefeller Center skating rink, Sterling encounters Marissa, a heartbroken seven-year-old whose father and grandmother have been forced into the Witness Protection Program; they had overheard two gangsters hatch a sinister plot to collect money from a debtor. Able to travel through time and space, Sterling devises a master plan to reunite little Marissa with her family in time for Christmas. Along the way, he discovers within himself what it takes to earn his wings.
Customer Reviews:
Nice Christmas Story.......2006-08-24
If you bought this book believing it will have the excitement and mystery of a Mary Higgins Clark novel than you will be greatly disappointed. It was a fast read and a cute story. Sterling wants to earn his wings to get into heaven so he is sent down to help a little girl. A short but sweet story.
I Wouldn't Recommend It.......2004-12-30
If I had to name my ten favorite plots from books, this one would not be on my list. It begins with Sterling Brooks, who died and was waiting to be admitted into heaven. After being judged, because of the self-centered life that he had lived, he was sent back to Earth to prove that he was worthy of his wings. His task was to locate someone who needed help, and to help them. After finding the heartbroken girl he was supposed to help, and, (with help from the Heavenly Council), going back in time to learn more about how her heart came to be broken, devises a plan that he thinks will bring back the girl's smile. Although every other book by Mary Higgins Clark that I have read was great; I did not really enjoy this one. The plot seemed totally different to anything she has ever written before, and was not one of those books that "put you on the edge of your seat." This is more of a heart-warming book, rather than suspenseful, which is most of Mary Higgins Clark's work. One reason I did not like this book was because of all of the things they said about heaven. I believe in heaven, but if I am going to read a book that talks about it a lot, I would like for it to be based upon facts, not opinions or fictitious thoughts. Although I liked some aspects of this book, for the most part, I did not enjoy it. This is the first of Mary Higgins Clark's books that I did not love. I would highly recommend her other books, and others may enjoy this one immensely, but it isn't a book that I would recommend.
A Kids Review.......2004-11-28
Sterling has been in the waiting room to get permission to go to heaven. He has been there for fourty-six years. The christmas celebration was going to begin in a few days and everyone got a free admission from the council to go and watch the it. Sterling was the only one left and was asked to go and confront the council. He was forced to go to earth and help someone with some problems. He had to help a seven-year-old girl find her father and grandmother. He can go wherever he needs to go to figure it out. Little did he know that during this task he would earn wings.
He Sees You When Your Sleeping.......2003-05-24
I think this is a great book for all types of people. Sterling, the main character , had unforgetable encouters and helped the lives of several people. This book made me think of how life would be like after death and how good you should be to others. This story took place near Christmas. I would recomend reading it towards the end of the year. I recommend this book to everyone.
Holiday Suspense.......2003-02-06
He Sees You When You're Sleeping is a light holiday suspense about a man, Sterling who is in heaven's waiting room and his journey to gain his entrance in. Sterling is sent to young Marissa to help her out in a sticky situation involving her family and the mob. Marissa's father and grandmother are sheltered in the witness protection program and Marissa cannot bear Christmas without them. This story is not meant to be heavy by any means. The plot could have definitely been developed more.

The Longest Read..............2007-03-02
Well I have to admit this was one of those books I had to force myself to get through. The only thing I could honestly say that I appreciated about this book is that "Rose" was not your typical damsel in destress. She actually had some what of a backbone when it came to dealing with the domineering and arrogant personality of her boss/lover Gabriel whose solution to "everything" was to throw money at it. To be honest the ending didn't ring true to me, it was very rushed. I would recommend that you borrow this from someone or your local library but don't invest in it unless of course your a die-hard Cathy Williams fan and just want to add this to your collection.

Very, very good........2006-05-25
Definitely a keeper, one of my favorite Grahams, and by far the best in the "Brides of l'Amour" trilogy (Frenchman's love child, Italian boss's mistress, Banker's convenient wife).
Pippa is not your typical Graham heroine. For a change, this one did stay in school, graduated from college with flying colors, is not in debt, not a single mother, and has a career that's not built on good looks. Now that's at least refreshing. :-) For good measure, Pippa grew up with self-absorbed parents, and in consequence is rather sweetly modest and pessimistic about her own worth.
Enter gorgeous billionaire new boss Andreo D'Alessio. He makes insensitive remarks re: Pippa's untidy looks as depicted in a company group-photograph. Bang! there goes Pippa's promissed promotion. To save face, she goes through a Cinderella makeover, has a couple of drinks and shows up at the new-boss welcoming party. And... she misidentifies Andreo. Well, Andreo's besotted with her, and they get along like a house on fire. But how's Andreo going to keep her when morning comes and Pippa drops the Cinderella act... and figures out who he really is?
Well, this book has intelligent writing, complex characters, unpredictable turns and a lot of humor, which is what Graham does best. The hero is simply to-die-for -- decent to the bone (though definitely a playboy and a fighter, he doesn't ever act like a jerk towards the heroine). Highly recommended, definitely one of Graham's best.
men protagonists.......2006-03-25
Ms Grahams ''s books always manage to contain a measure of humor, and human clumsiness. I enjoyed Tabby and now, Pippa very deserving heroins not wishy washy and have some spine.
Jac. Baird's guys go WAY over the top and would need majoy groveling before being accepted back into the fold. And I still might want to see some humilliation!!!!!
A Great Read.......2004-06-23
Lynne Graham is one of my favorite romance writers and I think this is because of the flaws that her characters have and the way that she uses humor to emphasize the difference between them.Pippa, the heroine has a major self esteem problem and doesn't understand why Andreo would be interested in her. Andreo is passionately in love with Pippa but is too busy playing Mr. Cool to let her know. Watching this couple working out their problems and get together is extremely amusing. This is the second in a trilogy Brides of L'Amour, but I would rank this as the best of the three.
Another great Lynne Graham book!.......2004-03-31
Who can resist a 6'5" drop-dead gorgeous Italian billionaire? Our heroine tries to and even leads him on quite a chase in her attempt to resist him. But to no avail as she subcumbs every time he puts his gorgeous hands on her. The love scenes are incredible and the hero and heroine sizzle when they're together. I love this book!
Ok but could be better........2004-01-24
I was disappointed.
She needed a backbone... so once in a while she could have said "to hell with you" to the hero & ACTUALLY MEAN IT.
There are some Lynne Graham books which I really love and this isn't one of them. She needs to portray these women as strong, independent women who could actually put up a fit.

Book Description
Despite the sacrifice of a T-850 and the heroic efforts of John Connor and Kate Brewster, Skynet became operational. It is now 2029 AD, and the war between the human Resistance and Skynet rages on. With small guerrilla forces, John and Kate continue to sabotage and destroy Skynet forces . . . but it's not enough.
Before Judgment Day, Danny Avila helped program what became Skynet and was plagued by nightmares of Terminators destroying cities and decimating mankind. He disappeared two days before Judgment Day, and didn't resurface until Kate and John discovered him years later. Danny still can't remember what happened to him just before Skynet attacked. He has the nagging feeling that he has forgotten something very important. Despite this memory lapse, he has become a vital member of the Resistance.
Horrible dreams have begun to haunt him again. Could these dreams be a psychic link to his past self? John Connor has an idea: if Danny past and Danny present can communicate, perhaps they can help the Resistance gain an edge and defeat Skynet. But to accomplish such a connection would place Danny at tremendous physical and emotional risk. It's a dangerous experiment, but one that might prove the salvation of mankind's future... and the death of Danny.
"Arnold's adventure fans, rejoice; this is the stuff that role-playing dreams are made of."

Customer Reviews:
Mesmerizing .......2007-09-09
This book is a must read for any true Terminator fan. The depth of the characters becomes palpable and you feel as though you are fighting through a post-judgement day world along side John Connor.
No research done at all.......2007-08-29
Okay I love the Terminator movies, but this book was just plain bad.
First of all, the author couldn't get the model number of any of the Terminators right. Right in T2, Arnold's character says that he is a "Cyberdyne Systems model 101."
Yet everytime John runs into a terminator in this book with Arnold's face, he always says something like, "He reminds me of Uncle Bob," or "I can't believe we defeated these things back with just bullets." Then saying that it's the same one that went back in time to protect him. When he says they are obviously T-800's or T-1's or some other model number.
And if that wasn't bad enough, the author constantly relied on time paradoxes and going back and forth between two time periods and communicating across time with no rational explaination of why or how this was able to be done.
In short if you love the Terminator movies and the comics, do yourself a favor and skip this one. If you want a real GOOD Terminator book series to read, check out the T2: Infiltrator series.
This was just crap. Then again what do you expect from one of the writers from the New Jedi Order series?
An Excellent Book That Salvages the T3 Movie Disaster.......2005-11-07
Aaron Allston superbly patches up the gaping holes created by the movie T3: Rise of The Machines. This book gives an exciting and technically competent look at the world as it is in 2029 while providing the reader with a new story that is very much more convincing than the crap created by the introduction of TX in T3. If you are like me and were very dissapointed with T3 the movie, and found it very difficult to believe that a defeated Skynet could produce and send back in time not only the prototype T-1000, but also a fully functional T-X, then this book is for you. Allston deliberately stays away from using TX in this book. The only real link to T-3 is the involvement of one of the Skynet programmers working under General Brewster just before judgment day; otherwise, this could very well be a standalone work that is a brilliant addition to the Terminator series. Another great feature of this book is that the reader "finally" gets a real close-up look at the day-to-day operations of John Connor's resistance. The 2029 battles are superbly described and technically believeable! The action is riveting. Best of all, Allston doesn't fill up the story with a lot of "fluff." The whole story is to the point and keeps your attention throughout. What a story. If I were king for a day, I would erase the movie that "was" T-3 and find some way to adapt this book for the T-3 sequel - It's just that good. Enjoy.
A good book in the terminator universe.......2005-01-28
Judgement Day has happen. Millions are dead. Skynet rules the earth. But John Conner and Kate Brewster lead the resistance for mankind. A member or Conner's intercircle Daniel Avila has found a way to communicate with his younger self. Danny Avila was young programmer who was working on the Skynet. Now the Conner will launch a bold plan to use the Danny of the past so all of mankind can have a future.
This was a good book. Mr. Allston does a great job of taking the Terminator 3 characters to a whole new level. This book moves a good pace that keeps the readers interest. A fan of the terminator movies will want to miss this book.
Allston does it again!.......2004-02-13
I was torn when this book came out. On one hand, I thought Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines was a very mediocre film. The fact that not only did it fudge the continuity of the previous films but was also inconsistent within itself did not help matters. So when I heard there was going to be a tie-in novel, and a hardcover to boot, I had no interest in reading it. Then I heard it would be by Aaron Allston. Allston, whose X-Wing novels rank among the best of the Star Wars expanded universe, and whose "Doc Sidhe" novels are also surprisingly good, is one of my favorite escapist writers and he has, I think, the potential to write some Really Good Books down the line. So, as I said, I was torn: I wanted the new Allston book, but I certainly did *not* want to buy a hardcover Terminator novel. Well, I found it cheap, so I bought it. And once more, Allston failed to disappoint.
Allston's writing is not as strong here as in some of his previous novels, but it's still well above the standard for movie tie-in novels. He writes action (and in this novel there's certainly plenty of it) well; this is definitely a page-turner. The characters aren't terribly interesting, but they're consistent and amusing -- one of the things I love about Allston is his ability to make me laugh -- and not *too* clichéd. And if you can forgive the never-quite-explained time-traveling-dreaming thing, the plot is certainly lots of fun to watch unfold.
This novel is much better written and much more entertaining than S.M. Stirling's (now obsolete) T2 trilogy, if not as dense. It also goes a long way toward filling in many of the plotholes and inconsistencies in the Terminator 3 film. It's interesting to see more of Cyber Research Systems' and Skynet's history, as well as a better look than we've seen before (outside of the comics) at the post-Judgment Day future. Although I will say that the future here certainly seems a lot less bleak and grim and horrible than it did in the flashback scenes of the original Terminator film. But I digress.
If you're a Terminator fan, if you've liked any of Allston's other books, or if you're just looking for a fun, action-packed and reasonably well-written leisure read, this is for you. Lots of fun; recommended.
I do wish, though, that Allston had a slightly higher original novel to tie-in novel ratio. I think right now he's got three original novels and eleven books set in various film or RPG universes. I hope he has the chance to even up that score a bit.

No Magician Should Be Without It.......2003-06-25
The Golden Dawn recommended that its beginning initiates spend one year doing nothing but the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram and keeping notes on the results. Alas, we live in an age where "instant enlightenment" is more popular than gradual exercises intended to strengthen the self and prepare the magician for mystical experiences. This has left us with many "magicians" who don't know the difference between vision and delusion... or who wind up injuring themselves when they actually encounter Something Else.
With *Castings,* Ivo has made a serious effort to counter that spiritual flabbiness and sloppiness. Any magician who follows the practices in this book will find hirself able to distinguish between sacred space and a Live Action Role-Playing arena. S/he will be able to protect hirself against negativity from inside and outside hir psyche, and will be able to raise genuine energy and harness it to cause "changes in the Universe."
Dominguez is a very clear and detailed writer... and one who does not feel the need to condescend to his audience. Today many Neopagan authors have tried to reach a lowest common denominator by presenting simple, inoffensive stuff which should come with crayons. Dominguez never sinks to that level. He takes pains to explain his concepts... but he assumes that his readers are literate, sincere, and willing to do some research outside the scope of his book. (I was particularly impressed by his comments on Mutable, Cardinal and Fixed Signs -- I've been practicing astrology for almost two decades, and he still gave me some food for thought which will prove useful in my interpretation of charts... yet presented his ideas in a way which would be accessible to someone who knew next-to-nothing about astrology).
If you're serious about magic(k, if you will), BUY THIS BOOK. Then read it, study it, and practice, practice, practice. It may take a while, but you will see real and beneficial results. Highly recommended.
Repeat Read.......2001-12-28
This is one of those books on magick that I have read again and again. Each time I have found more useful material. This book has enduring value for any occultist.
Teachings from a Master.......2001-12-16
Having recently enjoyed a class by Mr. Dominguez, and finding the material he covered to be of great interest, I followed up by purchasing a copy of his book, Castings: The Creation of Sacred Space.
Let me first say I found the content to be extremely well written, in easy to understand concepts. It's rare when a teacher can take such complex material and make it so easy to get the concepts across to the average reader. The material covered in his book is not simple, but he does have a special way of making it understandable. Mr. Dominguez came across to me as a first class teacher.
Castings covers exactly that, Casting the Circle which we all know so well. Mr. Dominguez covers the basics first, of centering, grounding and building a place within yourself and without to cast your Circle. The meditative exercises are well constructed and provide a good strong basis to work from.
Mr. Dominguez then proceeds to examine what a Circle is, from the theory to the Spiritual reality. Mr. Dominguez explores with the reader the concept of time, space and realities. I found this part of the book to be one of the best explained concepts on Circle Castings I have ever read. Mr. Dominguez also provides the reader with exercises which are again well written, providing clear instruction and easy direction. There is also a section on Pentacles and their use as magical symbols. Again, well explained, with clear and concise definition.
Finally, Mr. Dominguez offers other types of Castings that do not follow the traditional Circle method. For those who have studied for a while, you may be aware there are other Casting methods, and might even have run into a teacher who may have known one or two. Mr. Dominguez presents us with 7 variations, again with the clear instruction and well written direction. He discusses their uses, limitations, interactions with other castings and recommendations for mastering their uses.
Mr. Dominguez is Wiccan and the aspects of his Circle casting are Wiccan in flavor. He does, however, show the similarities between various Spiritual Paths and how they relate to each other.
I guess you can say I am impressed with Mr. Dominguez and his ability to relate such material without being over my head and unintelligible. This book is a pleasure to read on a topic that can be difficult and dry and almost unbearable in the hands of a lesser teacher.
Alchemy from a Master.......2000-04-11
Ivo transforms a collection of esoteric methods for psychic developmentinto an easy to follow and easy to read book you can actually work with whether you're solitary or part of a group. Looking forward to the next volume! Highly recommended for the serious student. -jc

dynamite recipes!.......1999-12-18
This book has never failed me. While most of the recipes are simple to prepare, they often combine ingredients in delicious ways that I would not have thought of myself. It has been the source of many excellent everyday meals and celebratory meals, as well. I would highly recommend it, particularly to those who may be new to vegetarian cooking, or looking for vegetarian recipes that aren't too exotic or "crunchy".

If for no other reason, buy this book for the Pimiento Olive Pesto recipe-- it was like a trip to Spain, esp. accompanied by a glass of dry sherry! I have 2 other books by this same team, "Vegan Gourmet" and their Mexican volume, and enjoy them all. I have well over 100 cookbooks, and revisit these frequently.
Easy recipes that the whole family loves!.......1998-07-06
This book is great! Every recipe that I have made from this cookbook and met with rave reviews from my family and friends. I especially like the quick recipies. As a working mom with two hungry kids, having recipes that I can put together quickly is a big plus.

Book Description
The first of two new volumes, this book contains material from authentic catalogs of the 1920s, which depict styles of authentic residential (ceiling, sconces, lamps), commercial, and outdoor lighting that illuminated America during the Depression era. Companies represented include Gill Glass and Fixture Company, Gillinder and Sons Inc., Meletio Electrical Supply Co., and Halcolite Company, Inc. The styles shown span the eras from the daring Art Deco to the classics. 2001 values. AUTHORBIO: The late Jo Ann Thomas, along with her husband Francis, specialized in old lighting for years, buying and selling from coast to coast. They sold to restaurants and even a dealer in Los Angeles who leased fixtures to the movie industry. REVIEW: This book is the fourth in a five-volume set by noted Indian relics authority Lar Hothem. The hundreds of arrowheads and artifacts featured will be invaluable to collectors, and the book has no repeats from his other volumes.

Not quite as bad as all that.......2007-08-06
The previous reviewer says "this book also didn't give the dates of when the lights were originally made so you can't use it to date a light of your own if you want to." This is not accurate. While Volume I did not include dates for the various catalogs reprinted and priced, it did state that the fixtures are from the 1920's. Volume II, however, covers the 1930's and includes the date of publication for each catalog.
My problem with the series is that the books are only a collection of old catalogs with guesses as to the prices of the items. No real life values are shown, auction or flea market. It is an interesting collection, but almost useless as a price guide.
lighting of the depression era.......2006-02-25
this book was pretty good lot of good picture but would of liked them all to be in color, this book also didnt give the dates of when the lights were orignally made so you can't use it to date a light of your own if you want to.

Truly a problem-solving guide.......2005-02-04
As an Interior Decorator who is really just starting out in this career field, I found window treatments to be my biggest challenge. There is nothing difficult about choosing great drapes, but I know from experience that window treatments can be true problem-solvers too, and I wanted to master the ability to match a great look with a great solution. This book offers ideas for filtering light to reduce a harsh afternoon glare, as well as how to combine modern window dressings with more traditional furniture settings. There are plenty of pictures, and I especially like the sections on various types of hardware and problem windows. There are plenty of books and magazines that inspire with beautiful photos but as a decorator, I do have my own inspirations for the look I want to achieve. What I needed was a practical guide that taught me all the basic options so I can now turn my ideas into practical window solutions that are also beautiful. This book is it!

Customer Reviews:
Sad story of a brilliant singer, hard to follow.......2005-02-10
Tony Douglas wrote this book because he found out there was not one biography of Jackie Wilson. He took it upon himself to go to America and interview pretty much all the persons who played a part in Wilson's life and therefore it is well researched and thurough. It is also not a hagiography like many other music-biographies are, he definitely pays attention to the womanizing side and addictiveness of Wilson.
The stories about him in the end of his life as a vegetable but also the death of many of his children are harrowing. But also the early beginning are well covered.
It is however hard to follow sometimes, the chronology sometimes doesnt make sense or is badly constructed, making you sometimes flipping back to see where you are. Another thing is that more years, months and dates could have been used to have a better view of where he was in life.
His friendships with other soul singers are interesting and some things are mentioned that I hadn't read in other books, about Sam Cooke for example. The discography in the back is adequate.
There are not that many biographis on Jackie Wilson so therefore it's worth the read, but maybe someone should take it upon himself to write another wne that can equal Daniel Woolf's 'You Send Me' about Sam Cooke.
Tough to follow but informative.......2000-02-12
The book is a very difficult read. It is hard to follow who saids what. There is too much detail given about too many people. The added details makes it difficult to decipher the confusion behind the life of Jackie Wilson. However, there is some good information pertaining to this great star that any fan would find enlightening. I'm glad it was written, we need more books about Jackie Wilson, but I wish it would have stayed focus on the man himself instead of giving us so much detail of the lives of the people surrounding him.
Don't waste your time or money.......1999-02-23
I came across this book while surfing Amazon's site. I thought that the then 4 star rating Amazon gave it made for a good read. After barely making it all the way through I came back to this site and found that 3 or 4 of the reviews were fromthe author himself who of course gave it five stars each time he posted. Probablly he had his friends write the other reviews that were positive as I find that many others have now come forward with their objective remarks which embody my feelings about the book:
Inconsistent, contradictory, speculative, and a total let down.
Where was Harleen Wilson's side of things? Why did Douglas give so much attention to a virtual gorupie's version of Jackie's life. It's very dissapointing and makes me wonder if Douglas tried to pull the wool over our eyes when he realized he could not get more reliable sources to talk about Jackie's life. As a fan of Wilson's I know quite a bit more about his life than it seems the author does. I hope someday someone has the gutts to tell the REAL story about this amazing entertainer's life
Preposterous.......1999-02-20
I didn't like this book. There was far too much speculation and heresay. The sources are vague and inconsistent. It seems like any time the author came close to making a point, every source was either a second or thrid hand perriferal person and leaves us with very little true knowledge of Jackie WIlson's career. However, it was very sad to learn that after Jackie fell ill in the mid seventies, Lynn Guidry (the woman who CLAIMS she was his last wife) vanished for 2 years with whatever money jewels, furs and cars that Jackie owned. It leaves the reader curious in what may have been her involement in Jackie's demise. This becomes particularly intruiging when one considers her method of coaxing Jackie to take her on the road while she was married to another man, with the lie that she was dying of cancer.
A disappoimting and incoherent story of fiction........1999-02-16
It's no wonder to me anymore why this book could not find a publisher. The Author neither paid much attention to his grammer or the facts of Jackie Wilson's life. It seems that Tony Douglas relied mainly on the testimony of the drunks, drug addicts, groupies and other parasites that made a living from hanging around Jackie Wilson. I don't think anyone can tell the true story of Jackie Wilson without an interveiw with his widow "Harlene Wilson". I wish I could get my money back.
