This is an awsome book.......2001-12-02
Hi, this an awsome book, and I recommend it to anybody who wants an exciting book to read. I have read all but 3 of the series. Am starting on number 7 right now. This is a great book, and one of my favorites but the other ones I read are really good too. My favorites so far is #1,A Promise for Breanna, #9, Things Not Seen. After I fisish this series, I'm onto Journeys of the Stranger. One thing that bugs me is I don't know where he is from!!(A Stranger from a far land!?????) Anyways, this a great book!!!!
TRAVELING NURSE AT YOUR SERVICE.......2001-01-14
When I started reading this story, I knew I would fall in love with this traveling nurse, Breanna Baylor. From removing bullets from shot down men to setting a finger back in place, Breanna really knows her business. But her life is threatened by a man who once broke her heart, and is out to get her life! After deciding to travel with a recent wagon train, she encounters snake Indians! But she awaits the arrival of her new love, John Stranger
I couldn't put it down!.......1999-01-01
This series is very well written. Once I started I couldn't stop! I have read all of the first 7 books and anxiously await the next two! Lots of adventure, love and excitement! Well worth reading!
Vivid description of a wagon train to California!.......1998-12-06
This book is almost a thriller with the realism of a wagon train heading west. It spares none of the disappointments and fears, but also shares the promise of the Gospel and victory by faith. It was hard to put this "page-turner" down! (I might mention that the recurring thought/dream of Breanna's reunion with John Stranger was difficult to follow at first, but don't let that stop you!)

Book Description
Two feudal kingdoms, Midland and Chuder, battle for supremacy in what will become the final clash in a century-long struggle. Spearheading the Midland forces is the Band of the Hawk, a legendary cadre of elite mercenaries led by the charismatic Griffith and with the fearless Guts as its berserker champion. The Hawks' ferocity, courage, and fearsome skills - not to mention Guts' enormous broadsword - are just what Midland needs to turn the bloody tide, but during the fray, Guts and Griffith's most trusted lieutenant, Casca, fall together from a cliff into a raging river. Miraculously, both barely survive, and Guts tends to Casca's wounds as she tells of having her life saved by Griffith, her induction into the Band of the Hawk, and her deep feelings toward Griffith. She even seems to finally be warming up to the grim Guts. But this greeting-card moment won't last long, for Chuder warriors are on the prowl, and the only greetings they carry are on the points of their spears!

It's Back, and For Good This Time.......2006-04-14
Berserk, in the previous volume, lost a lot of momentum during the "political intrigue" part of the story. It just didn't seem like the same old Berserk I had come to know and love, especially after getting five volumes of almost constant battling and bloodshed with only enough story to reveal character motivation. Luckily, though, by the end of the last volume, I knew that this volume and the ones following would be exciting (especially since I've seen the anime), and the slow, action-driven story is about to get deep and dark, as it was in the beginning volumes.
In volume seven, Guts and Casca finally come to an understanding with each other, and Guts gains a title that will follow him on the battlefield and make him both feared and hated. Also, a little of Casca's history with the Band of the Hawk, as well as some of Griffith's darker side, is revealed. By the end, the Band of the Hawk are on the war path once again, but this time it's against an opponent that may not be beatable.
Through the first seven volumes of the Berserk manga, I only found an issue with only two of them. One was more of a moral issue than anything else, and the other was simply that I was bored with the happenings and the plot-advancement. Now that things are back to norm for the manga, I don't expect many more disappointments, and I can, in fact, guarantee that Berserk will only get better from here on out, especially since the end of the Guts's history is near and his constant battle against demons and monsters in his present life is about to continue. So, if you liked the anime or have started reading the manga, then now is not to time to drop out of it; Berserk still is one of the better manga on the market today, and I highly recommend it to adult readers.
Guts gains focus.......2005-08-23
Our hero has been dragged along by fate and has lived in the shadow of Griffith's dream. Through his pleasing interlude with Caska and a very drawn out sword battle, he becomes his own man. In this story of dreams, I can see this will be a major plot point.
The story is building nicely toward the Hawks victory and undoubted crushing by the demon's fate.
Berserk what a series!.......2005-08-10
I have to say when i watched the videos i thought it was the best thing, but when the novels came out i did not think it could get much better. These wil atleast quench my thirst for more berserk since its series is alot longer then the mange that came out. Defitily a god series if you loved the show. Hope you enjoy!
berserk.......2005-06-14
Awesome!!!!
It's really completely different from the anime, the manga let's you explore the charaters in a way you just can't during the anime. I am a huge fan of the cartoon, so the comics make me enjoy what I know about the characters already.

Graphic SF Reader.......2007-09-03
Yet another of the Legion reboots. There not necessarily being much point to this one. However, Waid's affection and knowledge of the material generally shows, so this is a competent job. Here, the Legion must help to stop some really serious problems on a prison planet. This prison planet houses a bunch of very nasty types, and some seriously powerful enemies.
yes, I think it is worth reading.......2003-08-05
I started reading the Legion books back in the 70's and in my mind this period will always be the definitive, but having just recovered my fan status I decided to buy this book and see what the actual Legion is all about. At first I thought it was kind of childish (I'm in my late 30's) but I have to admit it has grown on me. I bought some of the 90's pre-boot Legion books and found a little dificult to follow the stories, so I understand why the re-booting. At first I thought it looked kind of cartoonish, but I started to enjoy more and more as I read the stories, in fact, I did so much that I have bought all the post-boot issues and now I'm a fan of this period. I like some of the new names (I think it was a little silly all the "boy" "girl" "lad" "lass" names) like Spark, Umbra, Sensor, etc. I still have in my mind the 70's Legion as the definitive one but if You want to have some fun and laughs (characters are far more expresive) with a good comic, don't dismiss the actual Legion.
Your Mileage May Vary..........2001-08-03
Granted - this book is not for everyone. The Legion Of Super-Heroes started out as a gimmick in the original (i.e. 50's/60's) Superboy and attained such popularity that it eventually kicked Superboy out of his own comic (twice)! Since those simpler (sigh!) times, the tales of teen-aged heroes from many exotic worlds with unique powers protecting a future United Planets has undergone many changes to keep in step with the zeitgeist. This book reprints the early stories of the latest Legion re-boot (i.e. all the stories before just didn't happen) and relaunch of the title. The difference between this change of editorial direction and previous incarnations was that the writer(s) made an attempt to rid the title of some of its darker elements and heavy tone that had invaded the title. The thought appeared to be to make the stories more light-hearted; to try to capture the youthfulness of a group of teens. Now, I'm far removed from teenagerdom, but it did strike me as successful (at least at first). I'm still fonder of the earliest version of this idea, but I'm willing to accept this as a decent if slightly underwhelming attempt to recapture the magic that was the Legion of Super-Heroes!
A shameful end to an once great book.......2001-01-06
It is simply for continuity sake that this awful lot was released in paperback. One of the weakest stories in one of the weakest eras of the LSH, the authors manage to ruin the whole 30-year history for "continuity sake". Not deciding if the book should aim more mature readers (as Keith Giffen did) or infants (as Tom McCraw and Tom Peyer did), this story put an end to the first LSH saga. After this one, the book was started from scratch and any one over 13 should skip what the Legion has become. In fact, unless you do not understand what is going on currently with the book is that you may grab it. Go grab any of the Archives or better, buy older issues of the Legion of Super Heroes (before 95). You'll be pleased.
A Starting Point for the Legion...again.......2000-01-09
This book is a must read for those people who have no idea what the Legion of Super-Heroes are about. All the Legion books were re-booted (all stories were started over from scratch) in 1994, and the book explains everything, from the origin to the first two major adventures of the Legion. A member even dies in this volume. Buy it, and you will understand everything about the current LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES...almost everything.

Simple yet encouraging.......2007-06-08
This book gave me many new ideas and had strategic plans to follow.
A great first book by Jeanne Mayo.......2007-05-12
I am a traveling evangelist who does a lot of youth events. In this amazing book by Jeanne Mayo, youth pastors and youth leaders can learn incredible secrets to growing your youth ministry numerically, spiritually and socially! Pulling from a near flawless youth record, Jeanne floods the reader with hope, strategy, and excitement for reaching your communities youth. The best youth ministry book I have read to date!
You Need to Read This Book!.......2007-04-19
I have accidentally stumbled upon this book just at the time my youth ministry was in serious need of a "Friendliness" upgrade. So many youth ministry books are long on theory but they just aren't practical or applicable to real-world youth. This book is different. The author provides plenty of theological and sociological undergirding, but the bulk of the book is a clear and concise approach to help you make your youth ministry a more welcoming place for teens to be. This is a text that you can put to use right away. I also appreciated the author's wit, her willingness to admit her own trials and tribulation in youth ministry, and the inclusion of sidebar comments from other youthworkers, sharing what they tried to increase the practice of hospitality in their ministry with youth.
Smile... you found it!.......2005-01-11
Jeanne Mayo mixes relevance and relationship into a practical guide to loving today's generation back to life!
Awesome Book!

Good with the photos.............2007-09-13
This is a really good resource and easy to look things up, however I felt it was lacking in information. I would have liked to have seen a lot more "writeups" on each photo and item, detailing a little history about each. There were listings for each about the current value of items which was good, but there should be more details about manufacturers, markings etc. I am glad to have the book, but I feel the need to get one that is more comprehensive.
Excellent resource.......2007-07-27
I highly recommend this book. Great photos. Excellent resource for information and prices on delphite and jadite.

A "must-have" addition to every library.......1998-11-12
BOOKS, BOXES & WRAPS is everything we've needed and waited for. The easy-to-follow instructions and super illustrations make the projects very doable for even the least experienced craftperson. Fantastic book!!
Excellent.......1998-07-06
If you can only buy one book on bookbinding, make it this one. Webberley and Forsyth cover a variety of bindings, and provide clear directions with line drawings for each one. And, besides just bookbindings, they also provide clear directions on making boxes and wraps. At the end of the book they have a "binder's tool chest" that provides many techniques I have not found in other books. The only downfall of this book is that it is all in black and white: no color photos accompany the directions, and no picture gallery of other artist's works to provide inspiration. Yet, the number of techniques they cover more than makes up for the lack of color.
Easy to follow directions, simply illustrated.......1998-05-06
Marilyn Wibberley has done a superb job in illustrating and walking the neophyte through the steps to construct books, boxes and various froms of wrapping. Any newcomer to the art of constructing books, will find it easy to follow the instructions and produce an elegant finished item. Written in a step by step fashion, I found the instructions to be precise and clear. The book abounds with many different presentations from the expected book form to scrolls and different types of wraps to contain that special letter or note. With a minimum of items anyone can construct a book or box to show off that special idea.
Book Description
The brief book of Jonah is the mighty mite of scriptural narratives. The story of the prophet swallowed by the giant fish is simple enough to delight a child and complex enough to confound a scholar. Human beings hesitate and falter, like Jonah, when trying to accept or imitate a model of divine forgiveness. This book culminates in a dialogue, informed by the best of modern biblical scholarship, between Jonah and modern dilemmas of forgiveness in accounts from the Jewish Holocaust and the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The author illumines Jonah's dilemma with literature from Henri Nouwen to Herman Melville, from the Talmud to Greek myth.

If u like david carson then u should have this book , this is what dream are made of.great designs! , edgy, high end, grungy whatever u call this industrial style it rocks and inpires from first page to last even the content design is sweet.Deff worth the price i bought it for...!!! dang when i opened the package i was blown away by the great layouts and type designs. I quickly got ideas...
More selection, please! :-).......2001-07-13
Alphabook is one of the many books supposedly showcasing recent innovative and original type designs, alongside with graphic images where the types are used and information for each typeface and its author. Although it's far better than many books of this kind, the selection of typefaces mixes really interesting and groundbreaking types with absurdly banal ones. However it's surely a book worth having, one of the view that provide (albeit) little information on the type designers and has some gems into it.
Inspirering and rich.......2001-05-23
AlphaBook may not be a HOW TO DO IT book on type design, which would be a bit boring, due to the variety of type design directions. AlphaBook sure as hell shows, that you can take graphic design to another level with typography. It's a cutting edge showcase, showing what creatives are can create with type. AlphaBook inspire, amaze, raise questions, shows new ways of thinking and challenges you to do your own experiments with type design. I owe it and I'm proud to be represented in it aswell.
Pretty, but no information........1999-12-02
I bought Alphabook: Typeface Design and Application, thinking it would be a book about, well, typeface design and application. It's not. Instead, it's just another pretty picture book of all the funky, cool, too-hip-for-words typefaces being designed right now. Just one page after the next obviously designed to make you say, "ooh! ahh!" with every oh-so-funky layout. Good to have as a catalog, but offers *zero* insight on actual design.
