Book Description
The characters that readers loved in Riding Through Shadows are at it again! Mother and Ma Dear, Tony Taylor, and others are back to make readers laugh and cry. Readers of this sequel will find troubling mysteries resolved: Does Sheri exist outside of Shirley Ferris' imagination? What was in Shirley's letter and who was it from? This story, told through the life of a grieving single parent, shows how we can recover from past failures and find our way to sustained love and joy.

Not as good as first one.......2006-08-11
Passing Into Light by Sharon Ewell Foster is the sequel to the gut-wrenching Riding Through Shadows. While that book was incredibly moving, this book was a serious let-down. Shirley Ferris is back, bringing her children Mika and Lex to visit her cousin Mother Johnson down in Tyler, Texas. Shirley's husband is dead, and she's trying to figure out where to go next in her life. The book had a lot of flashbacks to the previous novel, and a lot less of Mother Johnson's faith. Her speeches don't ring as true and Shirley's actions sometimes just don't make sense. Shirley is a strong, complex character, so when she contradicts herself from scene to scene, it's frustrating reading and makes her appear weak. While I do believe the Lord can do miraculous things in our lives, the neatly tied ending seems beyond the realm of believability. The first book is described as semi-autobiographical; this book is not. Perhaps that explains the emotional disconnect.
A truly inspring read!.......2004-03-18
In the fourth title published by Multnomah, readers that enjoyed Essence bestseller, Riding Through the Shadows, will enjoy this sequel - delving deeper into humorous, wise characters like Mother, Ma Dear and Tony Taylor.
When Shirley picks up a hitchhiker, a white teenage "PK" from her home- town, she doesn't know that this youth would be the tool God would use to chip away at her dreary dark past and help her enter into the bright future filled with light. Engaging from beginning to end, author Ewell Foster wraps the gospel message in her work without being preachy. You get the usual warm, well-crafted witty characters from her plus a surprise ending - and always implanting an eternal message.

She's done it again!.......2003-08-02
If you're looking for down-to-earth folks with everyday problems and a shore nuff God, then here you are. As always, Ms. Foster warms the hearts and lifts the spirits of her readers with this tale of returning, rebuilding and restoring. When the last page is turned, you'll know that God will restore all the locust has stolen. Everything.
Passing into Light.......2003-07-28
I have read all of Sharon Ewell Foster's books. So far, I have not been disappointed. She is a wonderful Christian writer who truly inspires, teaches and edifies the readers as she shares stories of adversity, triumph and faith. This wonderful book is a sequel to Riding through Shadows which is a very enlightening book about triumph, the reality of spiritual warfare and the importance of a committed prayer life. Passing into Light lets readers know how the stories end(?) with Shirley, now an adult with children of her own. This book also speaks about triumph, victory over one's past and how not dealing with and letting go of the past keeps you from pressing on toward that "high calling of Christ" Paul speaks of in Phillipians 4:13. As an avid reader,I am really happy to have found Christian fiction writers such as Sharon Ewell Foster. In reading Christian fiction, I have been able to enjoy good writing without filling my spirit with the language and behavior often found in secular writing.
I needed this!!!.......2003-04-20
"Passing into Light", finally wrapped all the questions the I had after "Riding throught Shadows." I found myself so enthralled that I couldn't believe that it ended. Shirley the little girl is all alone in the world being attacked spirtiually, emotionally, and physically. I know as a girl I felt that way. This book opened my eyes to the spirit world, much like J.R.R. Tolkeins "Lord of the Rings." Passing into Light teaches through theses characters how to overcome your circumstances, and reclaim your life. God truly spoke through this author, Sharol Ewell Foster.

Book Description
Garric or-Reise was born the son of an innkeeper in Barca's Hamlet on the Isle of Haft, but through valor and determination became first a prince and then the Regent and successor to the feeble Valence III, King of the Isles. But the Kingdom is weak, its rule barely extending past the island of Ornifal. The Isles need a strong king to bring unity, because danger is coming. Magic is stronger now than at any time since the fall of the Old Kingdom in a cataclysm of uncontrolled magic. Evil is growing in the spaces beyond the world, waiting to complete the destruction begun a millennium before. Only if the Isles are united into a strong New Kingdom can humanity survive.Garric has sworn to become a true Lord of the Isles. Standing with him are his sister, Sharina; his friend and Sharina's lover, the shepherd Cashel; and Cashel's sister, the weaver-witch Ilsa. They have been to Hell and back together in their quest. The four friends and the armies of the Kingdom have undertaken a Royal Progress to renew the bonds of fealty among the Isles. Now they come to Sandrakkan, which fought a long and bloody war with Haft less than a generation ago. On Sandrakkan, Wilduf's Countess, Balila, schemes with her court wizard to destroy the boy king from the hated isle of Haft. Strange evils lurk on demon-haunted Volita, and she will wake them all if necessary to make her husband the new King of the Isles.Rich with action, guile, and heroism in the face of dangers both physical and moral, Master of the Cauldron stands alone or as part of a ground-breaking fantasy epic.

Another Comfortable Lord of the Isles.......2007-05-06
As a general fan of David Drake, his inspired character development, story pacing and plot surprises keep me going back for more. The Lord of the Isles series is one of the few of his I missed, and I have read them exclusively and now am on the fourth in the series, Mistress of the Catacombs. While the outcome is predictable(the heroes win), the way they go about it makes for fascinated and varied reading, so that I spend what little free time I have reading the series. Plaudits to David Drake for keeping me up late at night reading.
Havne't I read this before??.......2006-04-25
Drake has fallen into the same trap as Jordan and Goodkind.... "If I write it, they will read it." This book achieved nothing, and we learned precious little about the chracaters that we didn't know already. And on top of all that, we've read this plot before: Everyone together; Everyone separated; Everyone triumphs; Everyone back together again for final, apocalyptic, finale.
Fair.......2006-03-15
I'm sorry, but this is beginning to drag on a bit. There are moments to it, but as a series progresses so must the ideals and strengths/weaknesses of the characters. When they never learn from their mistakes, continually doing the same rote things time and again, I tend to lose interest.
True, there are great moments, but over all it just doesn't do it for me.
If you like books like this one, might I suggest another I've recently come across. The Unsuspecting Mage by Brian S. Pratt. It's another fantasy adventure sure to please. I highly recommend it.
Still waiting...........2005-12-03
Each installment is the basically a variation of the same thing over and over. However, I the characters are so well written and the nuances are just different enough to keep me hungering for the next.
master of the cauldron.......2005-10-14
drake has continued his opera of the lord of the isles. i am again happy with the way he moves from player to player.

SLAM DUNK.......2007-07-25
i dont even know why i am writing this review. it is totally obvious that this is a great product. i got this as a gift for someone going for their mdiv. after 1 year and 2 months into its usage, i am STILL getting praises about the gift.
"its so helpful"
"its saved me a ton of time"
"its so easy to use"
list goes on and on...
also for those of you that think this is some savy software that is difficult to navigate... the receipient of my gift was in his mid 60's, and he DID NOT have any problems navigating and using this software. its pretty intuitive.
Best to you all PTL
Excellent second-level textbook of Greek grammar.......2007-06-10
This text is required for our second-year course on New Testament Greek. I have to say I find it an excellent text both for reference and for working through systematically.
The book is hardback, 827 pages altogether. The author is prof of NT studies at Dallas Theological Seminary.
After an extensive 31-page Introduction section, the meat of the book is a detailed discussion of Greek Syntax. The chapters cover in detail all the cases, the article, adjectives, pronouns, prepositions; Verbs - person, number, voice, mood and tense, infinitives and participles; clauses, conjunctions, conditional sentences and volitional clauses.
At the back there are detailed syntax summaries for each chapter in the book, a subject index, a greek word index, and a scripture index.
The book started its life as a set of lecture notes for the author's third semester Syntax course at Dallas, and this history is apparent in the text itself. The feel I get from this book is that the author has been teaching the subject for hundreds of years. The student beginning a study of syntax may prefer to ignore the small print and footnotes, whereas more seasoned students will appreciate the exhaustive treatment of each grammatical concept. each topic is explained with reference to particular examples in the NT. This feature when combined with the Scripture index will make it very helpful for preachers who wish to apply an appreciation of the original language in their sermons.
The book is designed to explain syntax, and therefore assumes the student already knows how the various forms are constructed. Therefore there are no tables of verb conjugations or of morphology.
I really like this book. The author has a rather dry sense of humour which comes through in some of his descriptions. i particularly like his description of the 'Aporetic' genitive as the 'I am at a loss' (aporeo) to know what else to call this!
It's a useful tool!.......2007-01-31
As is typical of biblical language grammars, some of the terminology found in Wallace does not reflect the jargon found in other grammars. However, his thorough indices are plus!
Portable Wallace.......2007-01-28
For those who use this classic grammar for reference, having Wallace available on CD is a welcome alternative to lugging around the 800 plus page hard cover text. Although I travel frequently, with this CD, I can still teach Greek over the internet and do exegetical studies for sermon preperation. Add the CD version of BDAG's lexicon, NA27 Greek NT CD, pack the laptop and leave the library at home.
Grammar book.......2007-01-10
This grammar book was very helpful with my studies. Although the title claimed to be beyond the Basics, it was more organized and thus helpful to someone new to ancient Greek.
Book Description
An abridgment of the award-winning standard reference grammar of New Testament Greek, Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics, for use in intermediate Greek courses.

The Abridged Version Of Beyond The Basics Shines.......2006-05-10
Daniel Wallace, by his own admission is a little bit long-winded. Peruse his articles on bible dot org and you will see that his footnotes often contain more text than his actual articles. So to shorten up the basic points of his 800-page second-year Greek grammar, Wallace cut it by about two thirds into this nice little book.
It is excellent for those who already have a working knowledge of Greek, and it can be used with the other Grammar if you get confused. A five-star job by a five-star theologian.
This book is great.......2005-08-18
Daniel Wallace is a well known Greek scholar in the Christian world. This book is one that will show you why. I was recommended this book by my Greek mentor and I find this book very helpful. It's a concise version of his big grammar. I glad this book was recommed to me. I never thought of buying it. I thought it was going to be to advance for me, but instead it has advance my learning of Greek. But you should have at least a year of Greek under your belt.
Great Job Dr. Wallace
The Basics of New Testament Syntax.......2000-11-05
Having studied in detail the New Testament Greek syntactical the classical New Testament works of Dana and Mantey and A. T. Robertson's Grammar of the Greek New Testament in the Light of Historical Research I have found that Wallace has done an excellent job of simplifying the complexities of the Grammar of the New Testament and has written a book that has `re-worded' complex grammatical terms into language that will make it much easier for the serious Greek student to understand the original text. I especially recommend this book to students who have at least one year of basic Greek grammar on the college level. It will greatly aid in the study of the text.

WONDERFUL.......2003-08-24
I have tried many recipes in this book and haven't prepared one yet that wasn't delicious. The Tomato Tart, stuffed filet of beef, honey cashew greenbeens...the list goes on! YUMMMMM
This book taught me how to cook!.......2002-01-27
I must own over 20 cookbooks and I always come back to this one. Every recipe from this book comes out great! I've given this book to 7 of my friends for Christmas only to find out that they already had one! My favorites include "Tomatoe Tart", "Grilled Asparagus", "Mustard Pork Tenderloin", "Champagne Shrimp", "Walnut Salad", etc... could go on and on. This is a must! Not only has great recipes but the paper and pictures are of the highest quality.
An impressive read as well as fully functional........1999-07-28
This book has all the earmarks of a beautiful "coffee-table" book - it is interesting whether you are a Southerner or not. It is also quite easy to use. As an avid recipe reader, I can always find something here that I have not tried before. It has a "fish guide" in the back that let's you know what types of fish you can substitute in recipes - very helpful! It also gives a new twist on some traditionally great recipes in a style that invites the reader to open up his/her home to guests with ease.
An all around great cookbook........1999-05-11
I reach for this cookbook again and again, as do my friends. I recently hosted a "new recipe" girls night. All of "the girls" were to bring a dish using a recipe they have never tried before, but wanted to. Out of 6 new recipes, four were from this cookbook and they were absolutely devine. I should mention that I made no mention of the cookbook when planning the dinner.
I have prepared many of the recipes, and have loved them all. While some are simple and great for my small family, others are more impressive and just right for entertaining. Truly, this is one of my favorite cookbooks.
In addition to the recipes, the sidebars offer wonderful tips.
Customer Reviews:
Helpful but some revisions resulted in even less information.......2001-07-15
I confess that I am a little disappointed in the revised 3rd edition of this book which I purchased after seeing an earlier edition in the reference section of our local library. I am a collector of Big Top peanut butter song glasses, and this book seems to be one of the few that has information about these glasses. When I looked up the Big Top glasses in this latest edition, there was actually less text and fewer photographs of these glasses than there had been in the earlier edition!! For this reason, I have a hard time considering the third edition "revised and expanded." There are also a number of Big Top glasses with children's songs that are not listed (London Bridge, Farmer in the Dell, Little Bo Peep, Billy Boy, etc.)
The best of three that I bought on this subject.......2000-08-08
I bought two other books at the same time as this one.. Chase and Kelly's "Collectible Drinking Glasses" and John Hervey's "Collector's Guide to Cartoon and Promotional Drinking Glasses". All three are good, but this one is the one I keep coming back to, while on the hunt at flea markets etc.
I am new to collectible glasses so I can't speak to issues of accuracy or pricing.
Hope this helps!
Long Awaited and Finally Here.......2000-01-28
We have waited paitently for the release of this book as it has been 2 years since we were told it was going to be released. Time and effort are clearly visible as it gives reference of over 800 new glasses that the previous editions lacked. Many of the small mistakes about certain glasses have also been corrected.
This is clearly at the top of its class for promotional glasses and is more extensive in categories then all the other so called glass books available on the market. As with any collector book this one has prices in it and not all of them are reliable as the common items appear to be overpriced and the high end glasses appear to be underpriced. The only dissapointment I had overall with the book was its combining black and white photos on same pages as color shots, since part of the page is in color it would be nice to have the whole page in color.
In any event Tom Hoder did an excellent job overall and this book will still stand above others as the one people will use as a guide.
Book Description
Decorated peanut butter glasses were made in the 1950s to sell commercially produced peanut butter. The glasses were printed with colorful painted images of flowers, birds, dogs, and specialty images. Most of the images were identified by a label, such as the name of the flower depicted. Their bright colors have attracted a host of collectors. Here is the long-awaited 2nd edition of the ever-popular Peanut Butter Glasses! This expanded edition features more than 100 previously unlisted peanut butter glasses and an extensive look at peanut butter glasses manufactured by companies other than Boscul. Most importantly, current values are provided for these beautiful glasses that are clearly pictured in full color. Check off boxes assist collectors in maintaining personal inventories! New information, new tumblers, and new prices...all in this new 2nd edition! This book catalogs the known decorations by showing both front and back views of each glass. Nearly 1100 color photographs and identifying text tell the whole story. The pictures are arranged alphabetically and a value range is supplied with each piece for easy reference.
Customer Reviews:
easily adapted to the bulky knitting machine. hmmm........2006-12-12
Two Sticks and a String? How about "110 Needles and an Intarsia Carriage"? It would be very simple to knit most of these basic shapes and designs on a bulky knitting machine with intarsia carriage. The great color combinations and striking pattern placements are what make these designs unique. Highly recommended to all owners of those workhorses of the knitting design industry, the Brother 230, 260, or even 270 knitters.
Not your average knitting book.......2004-01-27
There are some exceptionally creative shapes and designs in "Two Sticks and a String." If you are a moderately experienced knitter, you can be inspired by these patterns and even adapt the shapes to other designs of your own.
In particular, there is a "Bamboo Jacket",two vests (a flat Aran and a more traditional vest with colorwork) and a folded shawl that have shapes that are intriguing. While you may not like the color or texture or pattern, this is a matter of taste: I decided I liked this book for the creativity it shows, and it looks to be a useful reference.
Gorgeous.......2001-07-23
Do not be fooled by the (I think) unfortunate title of this book. The projects are neither folksy nor primitive. Rather, several are among the most sophisticated and challenging I have ever seen. Gorgeous collection for the experienced knitter.
Diverse styles that challenge.......2000-09-22
This book is not for the novice knitter. The patterns vary from Aran to Novelty. I have read the various critiques of this book and I feel that it has been unfairly rated. It would be great if all patterns were written perfectly yet this is not a perfect world. The biggest mistake that knitters make is that they do not check their gauge when substituting yarn choices. The pictures and graphs are excellent in this book and it has far outranked many of the knitting publications of the last two years. If you want some patterns which are left of the classic mainstream, order this fabulous paperback!
This Is Not Your Mother's Knit Book.......2000-01-10
Rare is the time when one finds so many great designs at once that I can barely wait to try my hand at half of them on first sight! "Two Strings and a Stick" is just such a treasure. It's an inspiration for the intermediate to advance knitter who is looking for fun and unusual contemporary knit designs. I am especially impressed by the timeless but cutting edge quality of the items....appropriate for a fifty something like myself as well as a younger woman.
If the patterns are inaccurate, as indicated by the review above...I will happily make the changes just so that I can be seen in these gorgeous sweaters! The only down side with this book (as well as most other knit books) is that the patterns are not indicated for those of us who like to knit in the round from the top down...otherwise..it's a keeper...as in...get me to a yarn shop ASAP!

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
