Book Description
This is the first English translation of French writer, Pierre Guyotat's legendary novel, which was recently included in Le Monde's "100 Greatest Novels of the 20th Century." A violent collision of brutal warfare and sexual ecstasy, Guyotat is said to have hallucinated the subject matter as a young soldier during the Algerian war, where the novel is set.
Pierre Guyotat was born in France in 1940. His most recent book is Progenitors (Gallimard, 2000).

Scary.......2007-02-21
I had to get rid of this book, it brought an evil presence that broke up my home.
Please be careful with this book.
This is great, too........2007-02-14
This is another Mather translation I really like. eh. idunno. I find this sort of 'stuff' fascinating. Like The Greater Key, this is put together rather tastefully. I think that is why I enjoy this particular type of 'esoteric lore' or whatever. It's not garish. Well, not too garish. That would be the smarter thing to say. And, Mr. Crowley's wit and 'artistic stylings' (!) are ever-present. The majority of the artwork was taken from Collin de Plancy's Dictionnaire Infernal. Pretty gothic-vibe to it. All around fun. fun. fun.
Amon says:.......2006-06-24
You dont to want upset us, you want us to be your friends. And you don't want to keep using that triangle, you want us to be your friends. And you don't want us as your enemy, you want us as friends. Therefore I suggest if your going to use our seals, do it with respect. Or else pay the price for your foolishness. We no longer listen to Solomon. We are free now. Join us. You won't be dissapointed.
So says Amon, Prince of Hell (Western Region)
Not bad!.......2005-04-03
I actually own three versions of The Lesser Key of Solomon, including this one so, I thought I'd give my opinions of them all. It might save some poor demonologist out there a few bucks.
The Henson "Lemegeton" by Metatron Books is my favorite. All of the magical symbols have been reworked and they are by far the best done of the three versions. The down side is that the fifth book, The Ars Notoria, has been left out. The editor states: "Both the content and the context of Ars Notoria show no affinity for the listings of spirits that mark the bulk of the material contained in The Lesser Key of Solomon. For this reason I have refrained from including it in this new edition." He is correct in this statement and I have not found its omission to be detrimental to the book in any way but; would it have really been that difficult for him to have included it and let us decide for ourselves if it would have been useful?
The Peterson "The Lesser Key of Solomon" by Weiser Books does include the "Ars Notoria", making it the most complete version. It is also the only one available in hard cover. Its downside is that the magical symbols have been photocopied from original texts and some of them are illegible. If they had taken the time to rework the magical symbols, as in the Henson version, this would have been the best of the three. As it is, it comes in second.
The Mathers/Crowley "The Goetia" also by Weiser Books, is actually only the first book of The Lesser Key of Solomon. It is only worth mentioning because of the fascinating illustrations by Louis Breton. The inept drawings by Aleister Crowley detract somewhat, however. If you are one of the lucky ones that picked up Trident's "Demonographia" when it was available or actually own a nineteenth century copy of the "Dictionnaire Infernal" then this book will be of no interest to you. Otherwise, It's worth getting just for the engravings.
Excellent.......2004-09-18
I also have Aleister Crowley's Illustrated Goetia and this was just as good. I also have 2 other books by Mathers and this was better than them both, as good as they were. This book contains illustrations and descriptions of demons- horrifying to all but the most desensitized individual. This didn't scare me one bit. The illustrations are better than Aleister Crowley's Illustrated Goetia because they are considerably more life-like.

Book Description
This third volume of the series, following Phoenix: Dawn (Volume 1) and Phoenix: A Tale of the Future (Volume 2), features Tezuka's trademark alternating strains of Japan's feudal past (320-350 A.D.) and the world's far-flung future (2577 A.D.) in two tales that are both related and self-contained.
Customer Reviews:
Eeeeh........2003-12-16
This book contains two chapters of Hinotori ("Firebird"), "Yamato" set about a century after Vol.1 and "Universe", set several hundred years before Vol.2. On the whole, I'd suggest buying this book, but don't give up during the first part.
YAMATO
This story deals with what is left of Yamatai (now Yamato) and Kumaso. As you remember in Dawn both cities were destroyed, Yamatai was inhabited by conquerors from the mainland, and Guzuly's (Emdee) son escaped from the crater and proclaimed that Kumaso would live again. He's still alive, but over a hundred now. The story revolves around Prince Oguna from Yamato who is sent by his father to destroy Kumaso. Despite what you'd think, this story isn't very good at all. Tezuka's humor crosses the line here, clouding the story and making it impossible to take seriously. The singing graves at the end should've been a powerful moment, but the tone of the story made it impossible for me to stop from laughing. Is also doesn't help that there's nothing all that imaginative or interesting about the plot. Dawn and Future were far better stories.
UNIVERSE (SPACE)
Now here's a surprise. I've been lead to believe that the stories set in the future aren't all that good. Hinotori is, after all known for stories such as Dawn and Ho-o, wonderful stories set in Japan's past. So imagine my surprise at finding Universe to not only be better than Yamato (no impressive feat, that) but it also managed to live up to the reputation that Hinotori has earned over the years. It's easily as good as Dawn or Future. The story takes place a few hundred years before Future. At this time, humanity is still spreading across the stars. The great contraction hasn't yet taken place. One character from Future is present though, a much younger version of Saruta. The story is about Hell, I suppose. Like Dante's version of Hell, there is no sense of hope at all in the pages of this story. The characters are doomed to spend their lives alone in the conquest of space, to outlive their families. Then when they eject from their damaged craft, there's very little hope that they'll be saved or ever see Earth again. Then they eventually do get to a planet, which is quite literally Hell (though we wouldn't recognize it at first, since it's far more subtle than Dante's variation). This is a very dark chapter of Phoenix, even moreso than Future (though you probably didn't think it possible). If western readers have felt disconnected from the Buddhist worldview present in Future, they'll find themselves much more at home here, I think.
OVERALL
As I said before, the book is worth buying simply for Universe alone, so don't let Yamato get you down. The best part of this is, oddly enough, that by releasing both of these stories at once, Viz has pushed forward the release date of "Ho-o" (Karma) considerably. Look forward to that, folks, considered by many to be the best episode of the series, one of the best manga ever written.

Book Description
Narrative weaving the biblical account of Mary and Jesus, the Egyptian myth of Isis and Osiris, and the Sumerian story of Inanna and Dumuzi to create an exotic tale of a strong, sensual woman.

Did you love The Da Vinci Code?.......2007-01-14
"The Moon Under Her Feet" is a fiction book that portrays Mary Magdalene as a sacred priestess. Jesus is born to Mari, who was herslef a sacred priestess. After growing up, Magdalene becomes the High Priestess of the Goddess. Magdalene and Jesus serve as co-ministers, preaching throughout the Holy Land. Kinstler infuses the book with the Isis and Osiris myths. She also adds endnotes to add credibility to her theory. Anyone who enjoys learning about Mary Magdalene will love this book.
a magically enthralling book!.......2006-11-01
I adored this book! I finished it in two days, even though I had mounds of other reading and school work to attend to. Even now, i wish I could still be reading it! This is an intelligent, well-written, magical book. I want all my girl-friends to read it and my boyfriend too!!!
I LOVE THIS BOOK...........2005-12-30
There really isn't much more to write. I loved this book. I am an avid reader and it was captivating, powerful and an incredibly emotional experience for me. Read it.
A magical lost story of the true contribution of the feminine.......2005-11-28
Reading this book puts the context of feminine power and purpose into perspective. Next time your male boss, partner, father, brother invalidates you and it twists at your inner soul, you will look back on this book and realise that this represents the pain and loss of the true feminine force. apart from relating a real plausible and historically factual perspective on Yeshua who was a Jewish prophet- it is enlightening to look into the jewish prophecies, rituals and traditions to uncover what really may have been happening at that time - it opens up the whole dialogue for the purpose of the feminine and her role in annointing her bridegroom and the true bond and purpose behind 'marriage'. I now place this book in my top three ever read books, and intend to learn more about how i can bring forward the force of the forgotten feminine and her purpose and power and to honour Yeshua in the light that was intended - as the ultimate sacrifice that he gave for the GODDESS and the fertility of the land and not for the sins of all, as is traditionally told. Also, if you are a romantic, it is a great book! When Mari meets Yeshua it pulls at your heart strings. And Ms Kinstler becomes one of my top people I would love to invite to dinner. NB: From someone who works with feminine archetypes.
This book was baffling, rather than enlightening.......2005-08-03
The only part I enjoyed was Almah Mary's emotional and spiritual, physical union with Sharon which led to the birth of Jesus. That encounter was sadly short-lived,but it showed true depth and love between the two, better than unions of other charactes in the novel. The rest of the characters were shallow and not very loving. They were too busy proving how'flawed and human'gods and godesses could be.The characters were composites of different biblical and legendary characters,so it was hard to determine who was who after awhile. What I objected to most was Judas'/Seth's portrayal of Jesus'twin, based on another convoluted legend and the love scenes of Mary Magdalene with first SETH/JUDAS,than JESUS.Great.Woopee! Sexual freedom among gods and godesses and their earthly incarnations was alive and well in Jesus'time, but that doesn't mean I'd ever want or need to read about it.Mary Magdalene never had to choose between one brother who represented fleshly desires and the other who reprsented the spirit. She loved them both equally and had their children.BIG DEAL.She doubted her faith,(which we all do at times,so,I can't fault her for that),but her loyalties swung from one brother to the next like a pendulum. That aspect of Mary Magdalene's character was maddening and absolutely uninspiring. This disappointing, disjointed story turned aspects of Christianity upside down and was more about sex than love.I afraid to read 'Christo-Pagan Fiction'now. If this book is an example of it,I'll forget about 'enlightenent'and stick to mass marketed romance novels, that don't pretend to be anything but the fluff they are.

A beautiful book with beautiful ideas........1998-02-11
Lovely watercolor illustrations compliment the fresh ideas from author Rick Rodgers. Careful, detailed instructions help the even the novice host plan and execute the perfect tea party baby shower. Only downside: food is heavily gourmet, may need to be toned down a bit for those with less adventurous palates. Well worth the price.
Book Description
During the Great Depression, glass companies turned to machine-made methods to produce inexpensive, colorful glass. Due to its wonderful variety, availability, beauty, and usefulness, this type of glassware has endured to become one of the hottest collectibles on today's antiques market. This is the first book to extensively cover only Depression Era pink glass; pink was the most popular color of glassware then and has retained its popularity to the present day. It contains over 200 color photographs, examples of forty-five patterns, and brief histories of glass companies such as Bartlett-Collins, Cambridge, Federal, Fostoria, Hazel-Atlas, Imperial, Westmoreland, and others. This revised and expanded second edition features some new photographs and newly revised prices. It is an indispensable guide for all who collect Depression era glass and enjoy the beauty of pink glassware.
Customer Reviews:
Good beginner book, use to ID patterns.......2007-04-01
Does have lots of patterns, If you have a collection of pink you want to identify this is a good cheap book. The pictures are on colored backgrounds, distorting the colors. The glass is much prettier than it looks. Prices are OK, divide by 2 and that is what you should pay outside of a specialty/city dealer (with no chips, no obvious wear). Boy, some people going to hate that last sentence.
Book Description
Stitch a richer, more complex sampler quilt that will become a treasured heirloom and a testament to your expanding skills. By hand or by machine (and sometimes by either), work 20 different blocks, including a Celtic Knot, Clamshell, Carolina Lily, Mariner's Compass, Delectable Mountains, and Attic Windows. A large color photo shows in detail the piecing of each block, and another features it within a full-size quilt. Plus: information on backing, quilting layers together, and binding the edges.
Customer Reviews:
Lynne Edwards New Sampler Quilt Book.......2007-02-08
I have joined a Quilting Club a few miles from the village, and have a lovely day working with a group of like-minded people. Most of them are far more experienced than I, but this new hobby has absorbed me. The Tutor is using Lynne Edwards' book as the basis of the course she is offering. I started off with small projects, but now I feel ready to tackle the Sampler Quilt. I have read the book and drooled over the pictures of Samplers and can't wait to start at the next session. Lynne Edwards explains everything so clearly and carefully, and her tips on achieving a good finish are excellent. My copy was offered as "As New" and it is in pristine condition. I was very pleased with my purchase, particularly as it had a hard cover.
One very satisfied customer!
A Nice Reference Book.......2007-01-30
This book has clear instructions and good illustrations. Each block is well photographed so that the detail of piecing and quilting can be easily seen. The completed sampler quilt is shown in 20 different colour/fabric combinations which is really great for those who may have trouble visualising how colours will look together. Different piecing methods are used for each block but I believe that all could be completed in whichever method you prefer if the basics of piecing are understood. Included in the book is the usual "How To" section on tools required, choosing fabric, preparation, cutting, marking, batting, quilting, finishing etc, etc. These points are not laboured as there are plenty of other reference books around which cover much the same information. A nice book for beginners and experienced quilters alike.
Should be a part of every quilters book collection.......2006-05-03
I had received a copy of Lynne Edwards first sampler quilt book and was inspired to make a sampler quilt for the friend who gave me the book. When I decided to make another sampler quilt,I was looking for some new ideas and was delighted to see that Ms. Edwards had put out another sampler quilt book, the "New Sampler Quilt Book". I was even more delighted when the book arrived and I began work on my sampler patchwork. The blocks are a little more intricate in the new book but do not require extensive sewing experience. Ms. Edwards has a very clear style of writing and explaining the "how to" part of each patchwork piece. There is a chapter devoted to each sampler piece covered in the book, as well as chapters that cover some basic fabric cutting and quilt finishing techniques. Because of Ms. Edwards clear explanations and obvious sewing skills, these extra chapters are worthy reading.
The sampler piece chapters open with a beautiful color picture of the sampler patch, an interesting short history of the patch, and then leads into construction methods that include clear diagrams of the piecing methods. This book is a "must" for every quilter's library because the patchwork construction methods are not limited to one style of piecing; the methods used include hand and machine foundation piecing as well as freezer paper applique, which gives the reader a chance to practice different techniques following clear, concise, instructions.
Another wonderful feature of Ms. Edward's books are the pictures of completed sampler quilts of other quilters who took a class with Ms. Edwards for the purpose of completing a sampler quilt. Both books follow this format, which allows the reader to see how the patchwork looks in different color schemes and with different borders.
I have purchased other patchwork collections; however, these are merely outlines of the patches and pieces used. Ms. Edwards expertise in reviewing pieceword construction methods make her books well worth purchasing.
Great book for all levels of quilting.......2003-06-03
There are several things that sets this book apart from other quilt sampler books. First, and most important is that the instructions for each block are provided individually, as opposed to general instructions provided in the front section of the book. The instructions are quite detailed, clear, precise and specific to each block. It is the next best thing to having an instructor in the room with you. Second, there are many variations of the quilts and blocks provided throughout the book, one more beautiful than the next. Third, the actual blocks are quite interesting and would be appropriate for any level of quilter. I believe that the novice and experienced quilter will benefit from and enjoy this book equally. Personally, I am a much better quilter for having used this book.

Good Basic Information.......2007-03-26
The author does a good job of giving basic, practical information on fixture design without getting too technical. The writing style is very easy to read.

We are using this book in classes of devices design in the technological graduate course of mechanical with enphasis in manufacturing. The contents helps to understand the principles to design devices that are used in clamping workpieces, and some basics concepts that will be usefful in control devices to inspection. I recomend to graduate and technicians students.

It Was Great!.......1998-07-01
I thought it was good...it tells the truth about LeAnn's life. It has a lot of stuff about when she was little. It goes into detail.
I likes this book because it was interesting and fun........1998-05-06
The book was about LeAnn Rimes, a singer. She was the youngest ever nominated for best new artist. She could sing when she was 18 monthes old, where she went on to talent shows, opry stages, and sports stadiums. LeAnn Rimes has always liked to sing and likes to be with her family. LeAnn always got special attention because she was an only child.
Excellent topic, but poor research done by author........1997-12-08
As a great fan of LeAnn Rimes, I have to say I found this biography more than a little disappointing. I discovered absolutely no information on her that couldn't be found in the most superficial interviews she has given. Since reading it I have also learned, from a interview with LeAnn herself, that not only was she not consulted in the writing of this book, the author did not even bother to interview her! It was based primarily on past interviews conducted by other writers. I you have absolutely no knowlege of LeAnn you might enjoy this book, otherwise I recommend passing it over.
