Book Description
A lone Jesuit Priest, Father Dominic Lindquist, a spy for the most powerful and feared Secret Society on Earth, has gone rogue to unravel a conspiracy to bring about Armageddon. From the filthy vice ridden back streets of Paris and running gun battles in the bazaars of Istanbul to the gilded hallowed halls of Vatican City, Lindquist moves in a corrupt world behind the purple and gold of Papal power. A world of despotic men who will go to any extremes to maintain control of Mankind and Humanity's future. A fanatic cabal within the Church has aided former Nazis in the creation of an advanced DNA-SPECIFIC "GENE-BOMB." With it, Hitler's ultimate dream can finally be realized: The Mass Extermination of the Jewish Race. Unraveling at BREAKNECK SPEED, with more hairpin twists and turns than a Monaco mountain road, Lindquist races against time to unravel the conspiracy of Cardinals aligned against him inside the Vatican. Their plan: assassinate the Pope, and bring about Hitler's FINAL SOLUTION with the ultimate weapon, CODE-NAMED: BLACK SERAPH.

Not Great but not bad but I have seen it before..........2007-05-19
Is Sean telling us there is a hell of a lot of evil here on earth in the Vatican no less?
If there was a ranking of 3.5 stars I might have given the book this rating. It did hold my interest somewhat. But genetic time bombs kind of bore me with just targeting the JEWS.
There was a fictional story some time ago,I can't remember the title of the book or story, sorry about that, about a genetic bomb to decimate the Pakistani population in London.
So, I have read a similar premise before.
Sean, how about in your next book you have the main character that is someone who has all your talents and experiences fight and deal with the bad guys of the world. The story would begin in the teen years of the main character and would follow thru his adulthood.
Of course, your story would probably have to be a triology. The growing up years, your military training and what you now do. But these three books would have to tie everything with the illuminati and maybe the end times, as well as the satanists that run, the governments of the USA, Europe, China, Russia, Japan, and other Far East Nations and the Muslim world, not restricted to the Middle east either. I almost forgot, don't leave out the international drug cartel that keeps Wall Street in the Green. This book may be a little dangerous for you to write. But it is easy for an author to pick on the Vatican and Jews. It has been done to many times before. Let's think outside of the Catholic and Jewish box.
Or how about writing about a book about the development of satelites that
kills muslims when they are in a state of prayer. The sophisticated satalite picks up the brain waves, instead of using biologicals picking up on genes, of those who are praying to Allah and they are zapped by a beam weapon or scalar technology in mosques.
Or if this is to hot of a topic, how about satelites picking up brain waves of mormons in prayer. Pick your religion, but please don't use the color of a persons skin as the killer determinant, unless of course it is white.
But in all serious, Sean, your next fictional book(s) should have its main character be based on you and your extrodinary talents and experiences. Maybe you don't want to do this, but it would be terrific, I know, I remote viewed it.
Best of Luck in your future endeavors,

Marie Dnarnaud is only a girl when the charismatic priest Brenger first captivates her. As a woman, she becomes his housekeeper and struggles with guilt over their illicit relationship. But as their affection deepens, Brenger grows secretive, and Marie has to learn why. What she discovers is a shocking secret that she becomes responsible for concealing.

A Simply Exhilarating "Read"... .......2006-11-18
While I love reading books, audio books have been the very convenient for me on those long commutes home. This audio book has been the best I've heard in a long time. The author ability to weaves both stories of Marie and Berenger along with Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene are simply riveting. While an author can put so much time and effort into researching and writing a wonderful book it's a terrible waste when the Narrator does a poor job of reading the book. I was delight that that was not the case for The Priest's Madonna. Anna Fields does a superb job of telling the story to the listener. She gives each character their own voice and personality and well.... it was captivating!
I'll be frank, had I purchased the book and tried to pronounce any French words I would've been discouraged and wondered if I was saying them correctly. Anna certainly had no problem with French or Hebrew pronunciations. This was wonderfully written and beautifully told. A must for audio book lovers!
A gorgeous novel.......2006-07-06
This is a beautifully written book. An absorbing, well-researched novel filled with mystery, romance and touches of humor.
Set in southern France in the late 19th century, the novel tells the story of young Marie Dernanaud and her life in the village of Rennes-le-Chateau, her family, friends and fervent love for Father Berenger Sauniere.
The forbidden romance between Father Berenger and Marie is believable and is one of the most striking aspects of this book. Their relationship was not an easy one, but rather full of confusion, anxiety and guilt. Beneath these struggles, however, was an unyielding love that neither could deny. This moved me significantly. Together, they embark on a journey of faith that leads them to question the bond between the divine and things of worldly origin.
Entwined with the story of Father Berenger and Marie is a narrative of Mary Magdalene set at the time of Christ. Here, the author appears to jump on the current bandwagon of considering a royal bloodline originating from Jesus Christ and Mary Magdalene. I am Roman Catholic and do not take the notion of such a bloodline seriously. However, it is with this fictional aspect that the author neatly ties in the mysteries in the village of Rennes-le-Chateau.
It is worth mentioning that Father Berenger Sauniere and Marie Dernanaud are not complete works of fiction. Though their legacies are interspersed with rumor and mystery, they indeed lived in Rennes-le-Chateau in the 19th century.
The Priest's Madonna is a captivating read. Very few books will I consider rereading, but I will most certainly revisit this one.
A Literary Page Turner.......2006-06-28
Do you like a good mystery? A love story? An historical novel? A theological inquiry? In "The Priest's Madonna" Amy Hassinger manages to give us all of these in a well-paced and lush novel that never suffers from an identity crisis. This book deals with some of the same themes as Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code," but in a very different way. While Brown's book satisfies in the way an order of salty French fries satisfies after a night of overindulgence, "The Priest's Madonna" satisfies like a five course French meal with an excellent bottle of wine. Sophomore novelist Hassinger writes with a maturity that is extraordinary. She uses parallel and paradox to unfold the stories of Marie (and Berenger) at the end of the 19th century and Miryam (and Yeshua) at the time of Christ. Her female protagonists have that same quality of combined strength and vulnerability with which Margaret Atwood imbues many of her most interesting female protagonists. At times I found that I wanted a bit more development of Berenger's and Yeshua's characters, but in the end I concluded that because Marie's story was told from the first person and Miryam's story was told from the personal third person, the development of the male characters was just right to evoke that sense of mystery that the female protagonists found attractive in them. Reading this book left me with the same feeling and question I had years ago when I read "Snow Falling on Cedars" - how can a book that is so descriptive and literary make me want to turn the pages so fast?
Very well done.......2006-06-10
Hassinger does a great job presenting a clear, absorbing story centering on a relationship between an enigmatic priest who has committed himself to supporting the church, and a young woman who finds herself increasingly skeptical. The young woman's voice and the life of the 19th-century French town are convicing, and the author never lets the real-life mystery of Berenger Sauniere lead the story into ridiculous speculation. The pace never drags (a real achievement for a book with open religious themes), and the book's mysteries kept me hooked.
The Cover is Ugly, but the Story is Great!.......2006-05-31
When I first saw this on Amazon I thought ick. They couldn't find a better picture for the cover? I know people should not judge a book by its cover, but lets face it pretty covers attract people, and this one aint pretty.
That being said, I have to give this book a glowing review. The writing was outstanding and the story was solid. I enjoyed the sexual tension between the characters. Each character was well done. The plot moved quickly. I had a hard time putting this novel down and finished it in two days. This book has interesting twists and turns and I believe anyone who likes historical fiction will like this book.

Excellent.......2007-09-19
Barry Long is one of my favorite spiritual master, his clarity and insight is so deep and he penetrates and speaks about different subjects with such clarity.
This book is about sex and love and how we distinguish. It give you a totally new perspective. Read it and change...
enjoy
Shock factor!.......2007-08-16
I don't think I've ever read something so raw. So undeniably true and to the point. I feel like more of a man of character and responsibility and compassion having just read this book.
No book has jarred me thus since I was 18 and read Zen Mind, Beginners Mind. I'm a 30 something divorced guy who became utterly confused and even contemptuous towards the opposite sex. Talk about lying in the bed you've made!
If you are a man or woman that can stand up to constructive criticism this book will make you laugh as you blush and fluster you as you recall your past foibles. But hark! The world is made anew through understanding :)
Very good.......2007-08-06
Very insightful. Barry Long found his Enlightenment through intimate union. Everyone has their own perspective and there were some things I didn't necessarily understand "why" or agree with but it was very informative and talked very much about being present. Presence is a theme that all masters will tell you is the key to knowing yourself as God. Barry Longs "Making Love" just brings that presence into the bedroom which is something our culture desperately needs. I gave it 4 stars because our culture needs sexual healing and reading this book is a great tool for the facilitation of that process. I didn't give it 5 stars because of my questions of "why" but it has nothing to do with the quality of the book. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to deepen their connection with themselves, the Creator and their intimate partner.
Incredible Book!.......2004-12-22
This book gave me integrity and new purpose in relating to women. I can't say enough-maybe the most life expanding book I've had the pleasure to read. First time I ever read a book straight through twice.
I feel rejunvinated in my ability to give love deeply and unselfishly.
Making love true again.......2002-03-20
I have been waiting all my life for this book!
This is nothing less than a life changing book. What Barry Long has to say about love is so important in these times, this is what everyone wants but no one knows how to make real.
My partner and I have put his teaching into practice and have found a totally different perception of love, and each other opening up to us. It's so beautiful! I am so grateful to Barry Long and amazed that more people aren't aware of this whole other spiritual dimension to making love. i would say that if you want this deeper, more real sort of love in your life you've really got to go for it and your partner too, otherwise it's just another book and you won't 'get' it. But even if you're single, you should read this book! If i had read this years ago i could have saved myself a lot of heartache. And if you are in partnership and you try this, it will make your love grow in a way you could not imagine.
I can't recommend this book enough!

From Spicy Asian Beef with Peppers and Snow Peas to Potato and Chickpea Chili and Spanish Fish Stew, Burkhard blends an international approach with dishes which are enhanced by the saucy warmth of the microwave's method, with mouth-watering results.

Excellent Reference for 19th c. Everyday Garments.......2001-05-11
I have owned this book for years and use it often in my work as a historic garment researcher & seamstress. Calico Chronicle: Texas Women and Their Fashions 1830-1910.......2000-04-30
The pictures are beautiful, the information is extensive, and it'll make you want to sew!
Book Description
This book tells the story of Mary Frances, a little girl who learns all sorts of things from fairiy helpers who live in her house. The Knitting People surprise Mary Frances with some delightful lessons in knitting and crocheting. They are such good lessons that almost before she knows it, Mary Frances has made the loveliest hats and sweaters and socks for her dolls. This classic is part of the Mary Frances Books for Children, a collection of instructional craft books for children, all of which were originally published in the early 1900s.
Customer Reviews:
Delightful book.......2006-03-24
I love the Mary Frances' books and this one is just as delightful as the other two (one on sewing and one on cooking). The books start out as a story about a little girl whose needles and yarn come alive (a note: I don't see a shred of racism in the book like another reviewer suggested - the yarn is dark-colored and is called mammy, is that a bad thing? She is an adorable ball of yarn, and very helpful to Mary Frances, who adores her).
The needles and yarn teach the young girl, Mary Frances, how to crochet first, then knit. Illustrated drawings and photographs are sprinkled throughout the book. The instructions and illustrations are so clear that I am able to use this book with my young eight-year-old daughter.
Knit with the help of your needles!.......2006-02-16
This charming book from the past is helpful to the young girl learning to knit and crochet, and historically interesting. Projects are small and quick, with easy-to-follow instructions. I wish the typeface had been updated, but I suppose it would have lost some of the old-fashioned feel of the time in which it was written. My 12 year old daughter, who has trouble following instructions, found the story format helpful.
Racist, and not so good on the knitting, either.......2006-01-19
While the concept of this book is charming- the wool, needles and hooks come alive to teach little Mary Frances to knit and crochet- the reality is less charming. The knitting and crocheting instruction is basic and there are many other books out there that are more useful. The book, written in the early part of the last century, is flawed by racist content. Instructions for making a yarn baby and a "Mammy" doll are fairly offensive. I would hesitate to use it in any setting that involved children, unless you need a jumping off point for a discussion about racisim. If it's knitting for children you are after, than I suggest one of the many other fine books that have been written to meet this need.
Book Description
A charming and easy-to-use instruction book in knitting and crocheting techniques, with over 55 projects! Originally written as a young girl's instructional, adult doll collectors are now using this as a valuable reference book to learn knitting and crocheting fashions for their dolls. This book is full of projects, easy for the novice as well as the experienced enthusiast. 8 color photos and 100+ illustrations.

Mary Frances Knitting and Crocheting Book.......2005-10-10
This is an excellent book for teaching a young child to knit. The projects are small and quick to make so young people do not get bored with something that requires a lot of concentration. The illustrations are helpful and the format very charming.
Cute Book for Children..........2003-10-04
This is a story book format for teaching children who show the inclination to pick up knitting or crocheting. It is a cute fantasical tale, with clear black and white photos throughout of how to hold needles/hook and of finished projects. If the child looses interest in knitting or crocheting, then they still have a cute little story to read and treasure.

A very helpful book for collectors and costumers.......2005-04-24
Note: my review is based on the first edition of this book.
I think this book is wonderful--the author has also written computer manuals, and so her directions are very clear. (Come to think of it, most computer manuals aren't that easy to understand--hers must be special!) The book covers a wide array of topics related to vintage fashion. I especially appreciate the segments on sewing techniques--she explains basic things that I haven't been able to figure out from other books, like how to lengthen a pattern, and more complicated techniques that are very helpful when dealing with vintage clothes, like how to replace a lining. The author includes a lot of helpful hints from her personal experience. The book is organized into different topics, so you can skip the ones that aren't relevant to your interests.
Nice costume book.......2004-01-21
I thought this was a useful book on costuming. There are lots of illistrations and detailed info, such as what style of lace, or what patterns were popular/available during the periods. Good buy, very helpful!
Most Practical and Resourceful.......2003-08-19
Best book I've found. Descriptions and illustrations for each historical period, as well as outfit planning, authentic fabrics, sewing and patternmaking tips, mending, restoring, and resources from A to Z -- books, websites, catalogs, periodicals... My #1 pick.
A book for use in real life.......2002-04-27
I'm a swing dancer and I love this book because it tells how to deal with vintage clothes you actually WEAR! Some books seem to think everybody who buys vintage clothes is some kind of museum. Or that they're rich and only buy perfect clothes in fancy boutiques. This book gives instructions for real-life cleaning, mending, and altering to fit you (for men's clothes too). And how to work with vintage patterns to make your own repros. This book ROCKS!
Could have done with this years ago.......2001-10-11
I wish I had know about this book years ago ! Needless to say I'm going to order copies for friends too. The layout is clear and easy to follow. The topic covered are comprehensive. There is plenty of information given to progress your knowledge further. All in all a great addition to the historic costumiers library.

NEW IN PAPERBACK
"...showcases dozens of rooms with an aged patina and English panache. A rustic bedroom with pine walls benefits from handmade quilts and an abundance of lace. Even better are the holiday vignettes. The book's central lesson: More is more."--Dallas Morning News
Timeless grace and charm: that's the hallmark of the Victorian style, with its exquisite lacework, fine china, pretty keepsakes, and loving attention to detail. Recreate that era in your own home and watch every room turn into a luxurious retreat, glowing with femininity and warmth. Splendid photographs on each page present so many entrancing ideas to choose from: a table runner makes an elegant window valance, a worn table looks well-dressed in linens and laces, and treasured items present their best face to the world in one of these perfect displays. And don't forget the new: just-bought trinkets and glassware become more alluring when placed side by side with antiques and heirlooms. So tuck fresh flowers everywhere, and let your imagination lead you to a romantic sanctuary.
Customer Reviews:
Lovely Photos, but short on projects.......2005-05-29
This is a lovely book to look at and is mainly a decorating book. The photos are very nice, but they tend to repeat....after all-how many different camera angle views do you need of a tablescape?
If you're looking for projects to make, skip this book. There aren't that many.
Victorian Chic is Shabby.......2004-07-25
This is the book for those who believe that Victorian style is described best in the Shabby Chic manner. If white is your color and if Victorian means old lace, roses, vintage pottery, tarnished silverplate, and quilts, you will love this book. Personally, I like my Victorian more in the stle of the Grand Epoch. Give me rich jewel tones, heavy furniture, a plethora of good silver, beautiful china, heavy draperies and everything over the top. If you agree with my taste, I fear you will find this book insipid and worse. Yet, as the French say, Vive le difference!
Victorian Chic is Victorian but not Very Chic.......2003-07-24
The book showed mostly a display of lace and linens, layered and arranged everywhere.
The bedroom seemed the best place to carry out this scheme of
antique linens and numerous laces. The living rooms were a bit
overdone, especially having lace doilies on the backs of furni-
ture. In Victorian times, it was a means of protecting or
keeping your chairs clean from hair oils.In our modern times
it looks absurd with our daily regimen of a shampoo and
shower.
The Christmas decorating was superb. It makes you yearn for
thr days before noisy toys with batteries and all the glitz
Christmas has become.
Another part at the end, the outdoor Victorian scenes made
a serene picture at the end of a long day.To sit and reflect
and enjoy the wildflowers around a porch made more pleasant
by the comfortable seating, was carefully accomplished.
I gave this a four star because in parts the rooms were
overblown. However, there are many artistic arrangements of a
teapot collection and floral arrangments that reflect the
author's talent.
A Delight.......2001-12-03
Victorian Chic was a delightful revelation of a guide. Characteristic of the lace and linen era, I discovered new and clever ways to display my treasures. I'm inspired to add to my collections knowing how to blend them into our home decor. Ms. Crane makes it all look so easy.
Victorian Chic, A "Must-Have".......2001-11-29
Victorian Chic is a "must-have" for collectors like me wondering what to do with odds-and-ends. Every time I browse the pages of Anita Crane's book, I get new ideas. Especially exciting is the concept of mixing and matching items from different eras in order to achieve a mood.
No longer are my closets filled with boxes of garage-sale finds. Using many of Anita's suggestions, my bargain "treasures" are now placed where they can be seen and enjoyed. Perhaps even more important, Anita's book serves as a springboard for my own ideas, encouraging me to explore with confidence new possibilities for old pieces. I can see a teapot as a vase, an empty frame as a work of art, a piece of antique lace as an elegant runner. With the masterful eye of an artist, Anita transforms her world to a gentle era of lace and primitives, soft lights and flowers. Victorian Chic invites us to enjoy it with her, and to create our own worlds using the treasures around us.

Book Description
"Wonderfully engaging, this unique study shows how art reveals a misogynistic medical establishment's attitudes toward women. Dixon traces the origins of 'hysteria,' richly illustrating her analysis with more than 100 paintings from the 13th through the 18th centuries, focusing primarily on 17th-century Dutch works."--Publishers Weekly
Customer Reviews:
A fascinating documentation of the gendering of medicine........1996-10-09
Perilous Chastity is an exhaustive analysis of the genre paintings of "Lovesick Maidens" during the Renaissance. In her study of these and related paintings Laurinda Dixon clarifies their meaning within the culture of their creation. Drawing on contemporary sources she identifies elements within the paintings which relate to widely published vernacular medical texts of the day. She makes valuable observations about the way these texts were received used. These texts are further examined and their sources identified. Anyone interested in women's history, the history of medicine, as well as the art of the Renaissance or the development of western culture will find this work of immense interest. The scholarship is rigorous, the book's sources are valuable and the prose style is both readable and enjoyable

Book Description
Saxophonist Charlie Barnet (1913-1991) scrabbled for jobs both as a sideman and as a leader. His concern was not so much attracting a broad public or making a lot of money, but instead to form bands with a strong musical content that were somewhere between the out-and-out jazz bands and the commercially successful bands of his day. His musicians and arrangements were his own choices and he was able to put together a good mix of lead men and soloists, rhythm section players, and talented arrangers along with his own voice and saxophone playing. Charlie's solos were good for their time and caught the ears of popular music reviewers. Many photographs and illustrations (including some rare) accompany this full account of his life and career. The discography provides such information as the names of the songs, arrangers, musicians, and vocalists, record company and number, and brief commentary. Song title, name and program indexes and an album listing accompany the text.
