Whether that will be Cissie – who shares in some of the funniest sex scenes ever recorded – remains to be seen.

I have been a huge Bart Bandy fan for over 25 years, so much so that neither my bedside table nor my bathroom book rack has been without one of the first three books in the series in longer than I can remember.

I bought this book used through Amazon and was eagerly awaiting the chance to finally add to my collection, but this has to be one of my greatest literary letdowns ever.

The humor had lost all its spontaneity, and the continual references to past books were strained and neither had nor provided context. The joy of the first three books was the way in which comic hilarity mixed so well with genuinely sensitive character development - I almost cried when Katherine (Kattering?) died in "It's Me Again". In this 4th book, it's all gone.

I highly recommend all three of this book's predecessors, and for anyone interested in a study in contrast, buy this book and reflect on the time invested by Mr. Jack in introducing Katherine Lewis and her quirky ways. Then compare that to the rapid-fire was in which he gets Cissie in the sack for reasons that I have yet to understand.

This book has the feel of a work produced because the author was under contract to do so.

I see no one has reviewed this, so how can I pass up an opportunity to plug this book?! Let me tell you that, if you like Douglas Adam or Pat McManus, you will love Donald Jack and his hilarious main character, a Canadian WWI ace named Bartholemew Bandy. This is the fourth book in a series of eight, and the author manages to make each one better than the last. On top being tremendously funny, the story is beautifully written as historical fiction, the characters are well-developed and the times are captured just perfectly. Read it and weep (you will laugh 'til you cry!).

Wolverine Rocks!.......2005-09-02

I know most kids don't read original comics anymore, most just read remixed trash.(Besides The New Teen Titans: A+) But I think essential wolverine is for anyone who's mom allows them to pick out their own clothes. This book really shows a little more of wolverine's personal side and I do not mind that it is black and white. My father and I are both comic book fans and I hope one day my kid will pick up this book and become one too. So if you like wolverine (which most should) then this book is for you.

Essential Wolverine volume 2 is Essential! this collection reprints Wolverine #24-47 written by Larry Hama and art by Marc Silvestri and others! Wolverine encounters many experiences like fighting the Japanese Yakuza, Lady Deathstryke,Albert and Sabertooth. The book also has guest apperanced by the Amazing Punk,Nick Fury, and Cable! Some of the artwork is drawn by Top Cow founder, Marc Silvestri. This book is great starting point for fans who liked the run by Larry Hama and Marc Silvestri. Buy it! Good book. Lots of humer and spleen........1999-07-04

I really liked this book. It contains Wolverine issues 24 through 47 and a lot of heart. Like the first Essential Wolverine, it really showcases Wolverine's personality. This book made me laugh and got my blood flowing. No Wolverine fan should be without it.

The Time of The Hawklords is but a collection of space dreaming sequences based upon the ideas of the rock group Hawkwind, with the seed of Michael Moorcock on some of its compositions and in the mood of the group as well, that is why you cannot speak about the book without referring to the music. The book itself is an exercise of baroque descrptions and actions depicting the band members as psychedelic characters travelling through the Universe in a decadent space-hulk, armed with musical weapons. The visual imaginery of the story relates it to similar parallel universes as those of the 2000 A.D. or Warhammer 40K wargaming series.

Worth reading if you have an interest in the band Hawkwind........1998-08-01

This book, written by a proven SF/Fantasy author, is not his best work, but has a definite interest for the reader who has knowledge of the band Hawkwind and would like to see its members immortalized in fiction. The plot moves along slowly, and it has not aged well. The hippy vs straight concept is well outdated, but it is a amusing blast from the past for the readers of more current styles of SF.

As a therapist, I must say that this effort by Connie Zweig is an important work. Beyond being a good read and filled with fascinating prose, the Holy Longing strikes at the heart of the problem with most spiritual practice. The bottom line is that people don't handle their issues, their defenses, their pain and their disowned parts. Instead of studying their conditioned mind, their own holy longing leads them into dangerous territory with others - seekers and teachers who also have not looked deeply at their own pain.

The result is what Ms. Zweig so adeptly calls a "shattering encounter with spiritual darkness." The Holy Longing is a flashing amber light along the spiritual path that can help us avoid pitfalls, disappointments and outright degradation.

The message she so wonderfully delivers is that there is no transcendence without shadow work. Those of us who want to skip that step will see it emerge dead ahead on our path to the Beloved. Read the Holy Longing and avoid that landmine.

Glorioius Garnishes.......2000-05-04

There are a lot of interesting food arrangements in this book. However, most of the arrangements are designs and abstract shapes vs. animal representations, trees and sculptures of real things. Each chapter is broken down into a major food group, for ex. chapter one is garnishes using fruits, chapter two is vegetables, there is a chapter for butter, etc. The whole book consists of color pictures with some line drawings to illustrate various steps. There are also some recipes in each of the chapters for spreads or fillngs used in some of the designs. They do expect you to have some "garnishing tools" on hand for many of the recipes, but there are some arrangements that can be achieved using ordinary kitchen utensils. Overall it is an interesting book if you are just looking for interesting shapes and colors to spice up your plate or table, but for more specatular "sculptures" I recommend "Garnishing - A Feast for Your Eyes" by Talyn Lynch.

The most comprehensive work that I have seen to date on the subject of the ubiquitous war-time cigarette lighter. Mr. Fiorella concentrates on the most popular brand to be carried in Viet Nam, or any war for that matter, the Zippo. Who would think that a niche area of militaria collecting could be so broad with so many variations? From the slim Zippo to the cut-down variety, to Barcroft table models; those engraved in English, or in Vietnamese, carried by Americans, ARVN's, Cambodians, Koreans; Army, Navy varieties and Marines, this author breezes through all of these areas in clear-cut chapters with plenty of example photos and archival images. One of the most interesting chapters is to be found in the beginning of the book, about a subject that is best tackled first: how do you identify knockoffs? This book is worth it for the photos alone and is soon to be a collector's item. The only book you will ever have to own for this hobby.

Fantastic, must read for ANYONE!!!! BEAUTIFUL & COOL........1998-08-25

i've read just about everything on Viet Nam, and this book really is fun! Sort of like Michael Herr's "Dispatches" (with photos). Written in realistic prose and accompanied by hundreds of photo's of Vietnam Zippos, and great in-country shots. Lots of non-boring Vietnam War reference material. i couldn't put it down.

Excellent how-to book documents the construction of this elegant work boat model. Liberal use of photographs in addition to clearly and handsomly drawn plans, provide insight into how the work should look as it progresses - very important for the less experienced reader. Careful explanation of the finishing work allows the builder to reproduce the realistic 'dirty' look of this elegant old-time work boat. The reviewer was so pleased with the result that he multiplied everything by 12 and built the same boat again full size. Experienced or green you will enjoy this book. Buy two - one for the shop and one for the shelf.

Great book for inspiration.......2003-10-07

This book is great for those excrutiating moments of designer's block. Full of images pulled from print ads to brochures to web sites, this is a great book to browse through, not read. If you want a tutorial, step-by-step book on how to create good designs, this isn't it.

I would like to see more web site designs and less video in future additions. The TV commercials they feature don't really have the same impact as when you watch them on TV. I would have liked an accompanying CD-ROM or DVD so that I could see the commercials with motion, rather than still shots.

Overall, though, a nice collection of modern designs from all fields.
