I agree with the reader below, Corcoran's essay outshines them all. The best piece of political/personal/travel/humor writing I've read in ages, and a real historical document as well -- perfectly captures the atmosphere surrounding the 2000 inauguration. Can't wait to see more from this promising writer.

There is an essay in this issue of Post Road by Olisa Corcoran called "Shouting Obscenities at George Bush the Younger" and it's just so good that I had to share my opinion with potential readers.
This captivating true tale of inauguration day 2000 is insightful, humorous and ironic. It is an awesome recollection of a meaningful experience. A really interesting "slice of life".
You never know where treasures like this story may appear!

Guardian: Saviors of Kamigawa (Kamigawa Cycle: Book III)

This is the final book in the Kamigawa series. The first two books have set the stage for the ultimate showdown for the lives of everyone in Kamigawa. The great defender of the spirit realm wants what was taken from him 20 years ago by Daimyo Konda. The only problem is that Toshi has hidden the Taken One from both sides. However, Toshi has problems all his own, Hidetsugu has really begun to pour on the reckoning. However, the bad blood between the two has finally begun to spill over in what will be the final reckoning of the Hyozan Brotherhood. As much as I'd like to go on, anything else that I saw will ruin the ending for the book, just take my word for it, this is a great finale, though I do feel bad about what Toshi has to go through.
Overall, This is a 10/10 for sure. Again, there are some editing problems, but the story itself is wicked awesome. Another great MTG cycle.

I don't like to give away any parts of the books in my reviews so I am just going to say that all 3 books in this series were excellent. I enjoyed Outlaw, Betrayers and Saviors very much and highly recommend all 3. Probably the best written of all the magic books I have read. Great job Scott.

Humanity's strongest defenders.......2003-12-12
The Legions have the most members compared to the other psi orders. They are the soldiers of humanity. Their primary mission is to protect humanity from aberrants, aliens, and from itself. This book expands on each one of the seven legions in the psi order. New psychokinetic powers were introduced and many of them were useful. The amount of detail on the legions such as their numbers, history, training, recruitment and commanding staff was a fast and entertaining read.
Their homebase of Australia was also given a lot of space in the book. What separated this book from the other ones, was that the cultures of each one of the Australian states were discussed. Though viewed as the new melting pot after the USA became the FSA, Australia still suffers from many social problems. This book was realistic in its portrayal of what the region would be like given its policies and populations.
This is one of the best psi order/region books available for Trinity. Little fluff and plenty of substance. It is useful for both storytellers and players who want to use the Legions and/or Australia in their games.
A full force to save the Earth.......2000-05-24
In the world of Trinity, the Earth is treatened by various forces: the alien Chromatics, the all powerful and lunatic Aberrants and the crossbreeding Coalition. The Earth has the Psionic orders, humans with great but sometimes limited powers. This book tell us about one of the orders: The Legions. Like an armada of soldiers but with the ability to use their mind with the gift of Psychokinesis. This discipline devides in 3 branches: Pyrokinesis, Cryokinesis and Telekinesis. In the book they explain how the Psion uses this powers and the full structure about the order. Besides being an Order book, it explain us about Australia, the Legion's homebase. From political conflicts to local lifestyles, this book tells us what we need to run a chronicle on Australia. A good book, worth a look.

This is a wonderful, well explained introduction to mysticism and psychism. Hudson delves deeply into the conscious and subconscious mind explaining their purpose. A very interesting read!

The book begins with a section describing the Materials used and General Instructions that include Knots and Thread, Beading Tips, making Dangles, working with Porcupine Quills, and Mounting Beadwork on Findings. Step-by-step instructions for making Cabochon Designs describe the basic technique used. This includes Getting Started, Beading the Rosette, Mounting Earrings, Mounting Other Jewelry, Leather Backing, and Edging the Beadwork. Projects using this technique include Small Cabochon Button Earrings, Star Rosette Earrings, Star Rosette Brooch, Iridescent Earrings and Necklace, and Starburst Rosette Earrings and Bolo Tie.
The same Overlaid or Appliqu beading stitch used around the cabochons is also used to outline and fill the interior of a design on material in the Rosebud Barrette or Brooch project. Simple, clear Peyote Stitch Instructions are given along with specific projects for Peyote Barrel Top Earrings and Beaded Crystal Caps that can be made into earrings or a necklace, or a set of both. This method prevents any metal from touching the crystals. Basic Brick Stitch Instructions are followed by projects for Brick Stitch Diamond Earrings, Versatile Triangles with Rondelles, and Multicolored Quill and Stone Bead Earrings.
This is truly a book that every crafter will enjoy and want to own!

Great job on technique instructions.......2005-09-09
The main reason I bought this was for the technique to create beaded cabochon necklaces and pins. I'd been searching for something that took me step-by-step through the entire process and this book is it. Haven't made anything from the book yet, but the directions are clear and concise and am looking forward to making everything in there!

One of the most stylish publishers that exhibits at Book Expo America each year is Ryland Peters and Small of London and New York. The Color Design Source Book by Caroline Clifton-Mogg is one of their smartest presentations.
Much more than a how-to book, this is very nearly a piece for the coffee table. The size is impressive, the colors more than catching, the paper quality so luxurious a browser notices the "click, snap" sound of the pages as they turn. Mostly, though, it is the content that keeps a reader between the covers. Clifton-Mogg covers color, pure and simply. She explains what it is, gives something of its history and is off and running with the different color group, nicely arranged so that a researcher can find what she wants and a browser just can't wait to go from one luscious assembly of colors to another.

Not just for the pictures.......2003-12-23
The designs of many of the rooms have a modern British feel, and I'm not in love with them (they remind me of the Terrance Conran books). BUT...the prose in this book is outstanding, and the author has a grasp of the use of cool and warm colors, and what colors tend to look best with others. This is probably the most "entertaining" read you are going to find out of a color design book (most color books are pretty bad). You'll refer to this often.
