Not what I envisioned.......2004-11-07

I had envisioned a full scale set of maps like the map found in the DM's guide. Not so, these are good reference and will help PC's get a good idea of the dungeon but you cannot play on the maps themselves. I can and will use these maps, by all means buy them they are going to make a great addition to my campaings but don't expect to use then as a playing field.

Jeez - if you plan adventures you plan maps. If you buy adventures you get maps. What good is this book? Okay a reference for motivation, maybe, for $2.50 - this is less than what you would expect from Dungeon magazine. I just don't get it.

Why can't you find any Pet Force books after the 4th?.......2002-10-27

I am a huge Garfield fan and the Pet Force series is by far one of my favorite, but I think that they stopped making them because try as I may I can't find them anywhere on the net. I do however remember them talking about making a 5th one back around the time they first came out but never heard anything other than talk until I read the comments of a fellow reviewer implying that he or she had a copy of the 5th Pet Force book "Attack of the Lethal Lizards." I just would like any help that I can get on how to get a copy of the 5th Pet Force book also. If anyone out there has any information on that, wants to sell their copy of "Attack of the Lethal Lizards", or has any info whatsoever about the Pet Force series, please let me know. P.S. Yes, Garfield's Pet Force is a terrific series in my opinion, whether you're young or old...as long as you enjoy liesurely reading. I highly recommend the series. Pet Force is the best book series I have EVER read... I've read a LOT of books in my life and yet I still keep coming back to this wonderful book series. It may seem kind of weird having this from a 14 year old, but I don't care! I love it anyway! So check this and all the other Pet Force books, I promise, it'll be worth the money, maybe more!

An aggresive athiest sudenly becomes a believer and goes into the church! The silly woman must clearly had a silly husband. One suspects this book is an advertisement for godhuggers.

This book renews my belief that everyday actions of one person can tremendously influence the lives of other people. It also shows how an intelligent, well-read woman came to a solid commitment in the Savior. My desire was renewed to further commit myself to improvement.

The Bible of English Willow - And Potteries!.......2004-06-26

I would say Blue Willow, but it comes in many colours.

This is an absolutely huge book, with many, many beautiful pictures of a wide variety of pieces.

The book is a tremendous resource of information, not only about British Willow, but about British potteries, their histories, and the marks they used.

Of course this is the most comprehensive source of information on Willow, Blue and otherwise, in existence.

The odd thing, is that it is a brand new, book, just published this year, with a list price of $69.95. If Amazon is really willing to sell it for $14 (which I seriously doubt) I'd jump at the chance.

I wasn't expecting all the wonderful how-to directions so I can create my own Japanese Stone Garden plus all the great photographs. It's going to be a fun winter project and feel like I will succeed with the great tips in this book.

Benz does an incredible job of presenting suiseki in a lovely format with loads of pictures of beautiful suiseki. He also provides the aesthetic and practical levels of the ancient art; right down to the tools need and the frame of mind needed to explore this art. Whether you are a beginner or long time collector, you will find this book a worthy addition to your library. I read the book today and I'm on my way out to the mountains to find a new stone tomorrow.

Good for the student of the mishnah.......2002-03-19

The only thing I can think to add to the previous review is that one does have to have a reasonable competence in Biblical (or perhaps Modern) Hebrew in order to use this book, tho' someone would be very unlikely to want to use it without first knowing biblical Hebrew. A copy of Segal's Mishnaic Hebrew grammar would be useful as a supplimentary reference, and a Biblical grammar too as this book is not strong on morphology. But syntax and idiom are very well handled and it is these that make the Mishnah so impenetrable.

As to the "reasonable price", sadly this volume in paperback is at a typically exhorbitant Brill price. And the hardback is ridiculously costly. Still, there IS a paperback, so Brill are moving in the right direction!

Only Book of Its Type.......1999-12-09

I just read a review of this book that said it was the best book of its type. The truth is, that it is the ONLY book of its type. The only possible exception to that would be M. Segal's book from Oxford in 1927, but that book is out of date and was written only as a comprehensive reference grammar and not as a textbook.

On the other hand, this book, (which, incidently, was first published in Spanish in 1992) is an lesson-by-lesson textbook designed to introduce you to Rabbinic Hebrew (i. e. of the Mishnah, Tosefta, etc.) and its culture and literature. It provides practice passages for reading and other exercises. So, besides, being an excellent (and so far the only) update to Segal's reference grammar, it is (as far as I know) the only _textbook_ of Rabbinic Hebrew ever written. So, if you interested in this subject, you have little choice but to buy this book.

Simply the best grammar ever published for rabbinic hebrew -- now that it's available at a reasonable price in paperback, go for it!
