i thoroughly enjoyed the book. there were a few oh-hums but even they had important info to read. this is a good book to read for any dinosaur fan. got out a dinosaur dictionary to look up the animals that exist on the planet and even that was interesting to do. then in the second book is TOR a rock animal who flies, facinating and the nasty heavy-worlders from first book. you wonder if what the book tells you on how the dinosaurs got there could be true. read the book and enjoy.

The Mystery of Ireta: Dinosaur Disappointment.......2006-01-24

Anne McCaffrey is one of my favorite authors, but even that can't change the fact that I was greatly disappointed by this book.
If you've read the 'Freedom' series, or any of the chronologically first 'Pern' series, then you've read 'Ireta.' It's another rehash of the same old storyline- Beautiful, physically perfect people trapped on an alien planet. How will they ever survive? Probably in the same way all the characters in her previous books survived.
I was able to predict the ending with 100% accuracy from the first ten pages of the book, and though the last few chapters did take a turn for the better, it hardly made the previous several hundred pages worth all the time I devoted to them.
One never really comes to care about the characters- They aren't presented in an endearing way, otherwise, Ireta would have been a much better book to read.

One of My Top 100 Favorite Books.......2006-05-12

This book, along with CELEBRATION OF BREATH by Sondra Ray and VIVATION: THE SCIENCE OF ENJOYING ALL OF YOUR LIFE by Jim Leonard and Phil Laut, describes a powerful breathing method that I have used for nearly 20 years or more. It has helped me to access and release emotions locked into muscles as well as simply breathing into bliss, tingling sensations moving through the body, and warm currents moving through meridians. I think it is possible to learn this skill through reading these books, and there are also a number of skilled healers who can accelerate this learning process as well. I encorporate this modality in my own healing work with others. The tools are deceptively simple and I recommend taking the time to do the experiments suggested in the books.

Most people are ignorant to the issues discussed in this book and are walking around pretending to live. You have not lived until you experience the concepts of Rebirthing. I first read this book prior to my first Rebirth in January,1990. I woke up, I was no longer amongst the walking dead, it healed me, Rebirthing is the fastest tool/modality for clearing old negative programming and healing all of our stuff/emotional baggage. I am waiting patiently to get hold of a copy, as I am now a Rebirther and wish to recommend this book to my clients, however it is OUT OF PRINT and I know it is in high demand, so someone should get moving on re-printing this book! Thankyou Leonard Orr and Sondra Ray (spelt S-O-N-D-R-A) for all your amazing fantastic books, I own many of them and I am hoping to have the whole collection before the year is out. Truly amazing reading, it is more than a read it is an experential exercise!!! An ongoing process which transforms your whole life.....!!!

This book has helped me to find out this therapy, that is in fact a way of life. This incredible therapy can heal disease, can help you to feel better, teach you to be yourself and it's very useful to heal traumas. The autor explains it perfectly and enthusiastically, telling the most relevant cases that she has lived, including hers one. The book is just an introduction to the rebirthing but is very useful and easy to read. I really recommend it to everyone.

I can't get over how huge these books are. The Culinaria series books that is. Culinaria France is a pretty comprehensive review of the various French regions and their individual cuisines. It's a good book, for sure. Definitely worth the $40. Great pics, detailed material surrounding the culture and just overall, a cool text-book style cookbook.

I'm a student attending culinary school - while I have done some travelling, I have yet to be fortunate enough to spend any time in France. However, I am definitely looking forward to making the trip, what with everything I saw in Culinaria France. It may not have had the widest selection of recipes (although, you have to keep in mind that it is NOT your typical cookbook, per se), but it definitely gives a LOT of information about the different regions of France.

As long as you have a working knowledge of the French language, you should be able to keep from looking like a complete idiot if you go.

Delicious & detailed! Brings me back to France........2005-01-27

This book transports me back to my aunt's kitchen in France! The details are astounding in each section. Photographs of foods with description of use make this the most thorough book I've found that also offers beautiful artwork. I've only found similarly wonderful books in France so I relish using this one. Each recipe is complete and considers the reader by including the ingredient amounts in grams AND in American measurements (ounces, pounds).

Furthermore, the book is divided by region so you can learn about the special foods in Normandy and Bretagne before a trip or for a special theme meal. Then read about the Loire Valley to learn about wines and other amazing food factoids. This is really a fun, entertaining, and informative book about France and its cuisine.

Just reading this book makes me hunger for classic French cooking and inspires me to create delicious meals with its encouragement. I recommend this book for anyone who loves French cuisine or who aspires to learning about the regions of France and each's speciality.

Mouth-watering!.......2002-08-10

I borrowed this book from a friend, and now I want to buy the whole series. This book is amazingly detailed and informative, every food lover or traveller to France should see it. Photos of the regional cheeses, mouth-watering descriptions of how traditional pastries are made, names of all the different breads. This will make you look like an expert next time you drop in at your favorite Bistro, or order dinner in Provence.

The Culineria series are by far some of the best food books assembled.
I feel badly for the reviewer from Los Angeles who gave this book a 1 star rating (une etoile). The person who wrote that review appears to have never traveled and experienced the beauty of the shopping for the ingredients, the preparation of meal,to the friendliness of the dining experience of France and Europe(and this is what this book is ALL about).
I own the entire collection (from France to the USA and then some), and absolutely, the Italy book is beautiful--but making a a simple tomato based sauce is easy. Only a true "chef" could prepare and APPRECIATE the beauty of the French book (God help this person if they ever encounter the German book!)All of these books are GORGEOUS!
I HIGHLY recommend this as a gift, or just to add to any collection--you would be doing yourself a great injustice not to include these in your kitchen.I have given them as gifts and the reaction from the receivers has always been the same--"'What a beautiful cookbook".
Treat yourself to this one (or any of them), you won't be disappointed!!
