Matt Russo, a lonely, insecure young man becomes a New York City cop. He endures the difficulties of the job. Eventually he becomes a detective assigned to the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Division in Manhattan. The atrocities that he encounters during his daily shift weigh heavily on him. Linda Robin, a Super Model disappears. Russo is temporarily transferred to a task force investigating the disappearance. He becomes the resident profiler. During his investigation, he stumbles onto a suspect. Roger Farnow is extremely rich and famous. Roger is everything that Russo is not. He is tall, extremely handsome and worldly. However, Roger harbors a dark secret. In Matt's mind, he knows that Roger is guilty. When they finally meet, Matt feels a strange liking for the man. Against all his experience and training, Matt is drawn into Roger's world. A friendship develops. Matt becomes part of Roger's inner circle. He travels with Roger, and a world that Matt didn't know existed opens to him. But, once a cop, always a cop, and as the real Roger emerges, Detective Matt Russo's instincts surface. Tension develops between the two men. As their friendship deteriorates, Matt confronts battling the enemy that was once his friend.

The Best Underdog Story Ever!.......2007-07-14

I have been a soccer player for ten years before I stopped playing. I then heard of a soccer themed manga called "Whistle!" I picked up the soccer ball again and started playing.

"Whistle!" is a very well put together story of one kids love of a sport. Sho Kazamatsuri is a young upcoming soccer player who was put down at his old school. He decides to transfer to another school and try his luck there. The other players feel fortunate to have him (his last school had the best soccer program in the district) and expected great things from young Sho. Unfortunately, Sho has never played a real soccer game with anyone before! Now Sho must work from Dawn to Dusk to become the greatest player ever!

I remember just going to a book store and reading of the shelf (when you read a book at the store, but don't buy it!). I remember reading this book and I ended up buying the entire series! It's comical, strong and will make you either to continue to peruse any sport or activity guaranteed! I began running and started getting tired and then I remembered Sho and I began to sprint! It may sound corny but it really does happen to ever one I lent this series to! If you don't believe me, read it yourself! It's one of the best underdog stories that will make you turn page after page and will make you hold your breath everytime!

Whistle! Vol. 1 gets 5 stars out of 5.

GIVE ME A REASON WHY YOU SHOULD HATE THIS SIERIES!!!.......2007-01-27

Im serious. Why do people hate this sieries!!! theres nothing stupid or boring about this manga sieries. I mean yes the 1st book is a little whimpy but come on its the 1st book jeez, the 1st volume of any manga sieries is normaly boring. And have you seen that in the other prevews that of who hate this sieries wrote "I read the 1ST BOOK AND HATED IT." come on people its the 1ST BOOK read the other volumes and youll see what im saying.
Im going to tell you a story. Before i bought this sieries i was in the book store reading a little of WHISTLE and i liked it so i bought volumes 1,2, and 3.That night i read the whole 1st volume of WHISTLE and i thought " Jeez im not sure i want this book anymore. Its kind of boring but i bought the other 2 books i might as well read them" and i loved them ( as well as the other higher volumes).
The storys about a kid named Sho and he goes to Musashinomori
(Moo-sa-she-no-mory)junior high. He loves soccer so he joins the team but he is to small to do anything but errands. So he transfers schools to josui (jO-zoo-wee) junior high were he can play soccer. Im not going to spoil the the good parts of the story for you so you should read it. Over all this is a great sieries.
Some other good manga are Naruto, One Piece, MAR, Hikaru No Go,
The Prince Of Tennis,Shaman King, Dragon Ball Z, Zatch Bell,and Gamerz Heaven. Bleach i would give 3 and a half stars. Yu Yu Hakusho is good in the 1st 2 volumes but after that it just becomes a bloody/body part flying mess of disturbing art.

Soccer........2006-11-29

When I read this book I didn't feel like it was very good. I thought that this was going to be one of my favorites with Prince of Tennis. The author doesn't do that well of making the book seem exciting. There was a little 'underdog' drama but I was easily bored by the lack intensity. Soccer is much more intense than it is portrayed in this book. I was dissapointed since soccer is a huge thing for me. Practically everyone that I know plays soccer and this manga made it seem like such a wimp sport...

If you are looking for a sport related manga I recommend Prince of Tennis. Even if you aren't into tennis (like a lot of people I know in the US...) it is still a great book. One Piece is another good manga that I like, the main character has a lot of determination and tries to overcome his goals.

I read a preview for this and thought it would be pretty good so i bought the first volume, after finishing I thought, what a waste of $7.99 and picked up my new eyeshield 21 volume. so overall it wasn't that good, easy to forget and not exactly the most exciting thing to read. maybe that's just the first volume but whatever. the other reviewers are right, it's very inspirational but I didn't buy the thing to be inspired or to help me believe in myself it was for my personal entertainment and enjoyment that's pretty much the whole purpose of manga, to entertain people but Whistle doesn't do a very good job of that. The soccer games were kind of confusing and not exactly dynamic same as the story, I mean I ordinarily love sports manga especially the prince of tennis and Eyeshield 21. But those actually make you care. Though PoT does have a bit too many bishies but that's okay. But the characters of whistle have blurry relationships with each other and not much personality. I mean what do we know about Sho? He's a short kid who seems absolutely obsessed with soccer and that's just about it. Maybe its because it's targeted for a younger audience than me but this just doesn't keep my attention. Better luck next time

I think this book is great for 7+ of age because there is some blood.There are lots of good and bad characters. The main character has a name of Sho.This seris might be boring in the couple of chapters but it becomes extrodinary near the middle and from there this seris is totally awsome.I hope this review helps!

This wasn't for me, I gave it to my husband for his birthday. He loves it. Likes the pictures and likes how you can see the value of the cars as well as the Johnny Lightening Whites. He also uses it as a check list to mark off which ones he has already collected.

Not much for vintage Johnny Lightning collectors........2006-04-25

This is a slick and attractive book, and I suppose great if you're into collecting the modern Playing Mantis Johnny Lightning cars, but there's precious little here on the original vintage JL cars: only two pages of photographs. At least you get a picture of each of the original cars.

So, my three star rating probably reflects my disappointment both in the descriptions I read here as well as the book it self. It's almost useless to me as a vintage JL collector.

This book is everything I expected and more. Being a true J/L fan I appreciate the descriptions and color photos. One thing I noticed is it needs to be updated some what. But its an excellent resource if you are into selling,buying,or trading!!!!

Excellent resource for Johnny Lightning collectors.......2002-03-26

This book is an excellent resource for all Johnny Lightning collectors, experienced and novice. It provides much information on the history of JL and many of the nuances of collecting, manufacturing, etc. There are great color photos of many cars. Price ranges are also included as well as how to rate the condition of the cars. The only drawback I can see is there is little to no info on many of the newer cars/sets. The index is also somewhat difficult to follow, especially if you don't know what year the car was manufactured. Perhaps this will be included in the next edition? Overall, I highly recommend this book to anybody interested in Johnny Lightning collecting!

A True "Book of Boxes".......2000-06-30

I rated this book 5 stars since it is exactly what is says it is and the designs are very inventive. This book conatins 21 thin cardboard, punch-out designs. After you punch them out, you are guided with pictures on how to fold them. So, this book is truly "a book of boxes", but if you are looking for more advanced oragami, you would not be interested.
