Terrific, fast paced action story.......2002-12-21
I REALLY tried this time but it was not to be.......2002-12-09
Well the Lioness was a better outing but sadly still was not a good novel. The writing as a whole has gotten a ton better, no two paragraphs spent on describing how an elf wears their hair in this one. But the plot and structure are still horrid in many regards. Speaking of the structure itself first, I must say it was badly designed. The beginning half is fine, but as the second half moves on it gets more and more rushed, and more and more unreadable. Characters are forgotten and then pop up only to die, plot points are rushed, the last fifty pages ends up being nothing more than a massacre and then no resolutions are made on some of the main character deaths during that massacre.
Next point, the villain. One Skull Knight named Eamutt Thagol. He's a wimp. Oh he's tough on the powerscale, he's got some freaky mentalist powers, but on the villain-o-meter he falls short. That's because he's really only got one thing going for him, wanton brutality. He's not really all that clever, and he just kind of popped up in the overall story line of dragonlance. Other than killing a ton of elves he didn't do a thing and because of that the only fear he gave to the protagonist was death. More so my personal dislike for the character comes from the fact that he was an easy out from having to deal with writing Marshall Medan.
Last, the editing in this novel was horrible. Grammatical errors all over the place, strange wording in parts, and almost no knowledge whatsoever of the overall plotline in dragonlance. The worst such discrepancy was that Senator Rashas, plainly dying in the Puppet King by Douglas Niles set thirty years before the Lioness and even thought of as dead in the War of Souls novels, is alive in this novel. It amazes me how the author, and all the editors could miss such a rather large inconsistency. Also Tanis Half-Elven is thought of as alive as far as ten years after the Chaos War and the Elven Prince Porthius is thought of as dying before his time as well.
FINAL THOUGHT: Some elves die, then some knights die, rinse and repeat for a lackluster novel.

Easy, delicious recipes for everyday and parties alike!.......2004-04-21
The book is hard cover with glossy paper pages and many pictures. It is divided into several sections: drinks, appetizers, salads, soups, the different ones for meat and so on.
I don't like the layout very much, the recipes are crammed in newspaper-like columns, but I suppose it would be impossible to give each recipe its own page. Anyways, this is a minor fault, in my opinion, since they are so fresh and original. They all carry colour-coded dots to help you identify each type of special recipe: fresh, make ahead, healthy and best new cook. They are also accompanied by a wine or beverage suggestion to help you pair your creations.
Menu suggestions are scattered here and there and they all seem really appealing, but I haven't tried any so far.
All of the recipes seem fairly easy and the ingredients are not too exotic, there are many meals that you would be able to cook on a week night without much fuss, but there are also dishes and menus fit for entertaining.
In short, I'm really satisfied of my purchase. I loved everything I cooked so far and even the things I haven't tried yet sound yummy to me. I am actually thinking about buying some more annual cookbooks, they are a really good idea. The pictures are gorgeous and the recipes easy (and there's plenty to choose from), so... what are you waiting for?

Great overview.......2000-07-19
At first, it's almost overwhelming because the illustrations (which are quite well done) and the text cover every square inch of every page. There's probably more information packed into this book than other books twice as long.
If you're just getting in to woodworking, this is a good book to start with because it gives you a good sense of what you can do, what tools you'll need and the skills you'll need. After you're done leafing through it, you can use it later on as a broad reference.
Excellent book. Easy to read with great illustrations........2000-01-22

The Franklin Report: The Ultimate Insider's Guide to Home Maintenance & Renovation (Connecticut/Westchester Edition)
Elizabeth Franklin Manufacturer: Allgood Press ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback Similar Items: ASIN: 0970578059 |
Book Description
The Franklin Report, a comprehensive survey based on client reviews of the top home service providers in Connecticut/Westchester, provides ground-breaking information on home service companies and individuals who have acheived national recognition, as well as those who are considered well-kept secrets among industry "insiders." Also included are in depth overviews on how to hire service providers in 21 categories from architects and interior designers to plumbers and millworkers, and everything in between. The mission is to simplify the task of choosing a home service provider by codifying the "word-of-mouth" process consumers rely on, and to offer the community a chance to contribute to this on-going dialogue, both in print and on The Franklin Report website.
Finding the right person for the job to work in your home can be a daunting experience--there are many choices, not all of them right for the job--or the client. The Franklin Report and it's regularly updated website, has compiled reports on a select group of master artisans, technicians, interior designers, architects snd craftspeople based on feedback from thousands of their clients.
The profiles and evaluations which appear in the guide and on The Franklin Report website are based on in-depth interviews with clients, factual information culled from the service provider, consultations with industy insiders and experts, and surveys submitted through the website, email, phone, fax and in person. All of the information is compiled into accessible, easy-to-understand entries that provide contact information, a description of services and specialties, a summary, and specific, anonymous comments from clients and peers. Each provider is then given ratings on a scale from 1 to 5 based on the following parameters: Quality, Cost, Value, Recommend.
The Franklin Report staff goes to exhaustive lengths to ensure that the information provided comes from verifiable and reliable sources. When questions arise, follow-up interviews are conducted. And, as a company policy, only the public consensus is published and any iunsubstantiated information is disregarded.
The result is a guide to the most reliable, prominent and professional home service providers than no home owner or renter should be without.

Useful and reliable.......2005-05-25
More like a high school yearbook for insiders.......2003-12-06
Franklin uses surveys to provide "unbiased" reviews of architects, interior designers, and tradespeople. A numerical ranking quantifies attributes such as cost and quality, although high ratings predominate. Given the small survey size, the numbers do not appear that meaningful. This may change in future editions. Franklin's brilliant idea was sorely needed, as anyone who has renovated knows. She has performed a tremendous service simply by compiling basic information about tradespeople in an accessible, readable guide.
Where this book falls down is on objectivity. While purporting to be unbiased, it reads as if written by industry insiders who are pulling their punches to avoid offending their pals. All the reviews are fulsomely flattering, as if every designer or architect were practically flawless. The book does help you sort out who favors chintz or works in a more contemporary style. It highlights who will stick to budget (although you have to read between the lines to figure out who will try to make you feel guilty if you aren't a spendthrift). Its gushing style is less helpful than a Zagat's format that balances pluses and minuses.
Comments from those surveyed are incorporated, but too much of the text is Franklin's own comments and interpretations. So much editorial discretion and the fawning tone leaves the reader wondering. If a designer is "assertive," perhaps this is Franklin's euphemism for "overbearing -- strictly for clients who want no input into the decisions." But why should readers have to guess about something so important? Issues like not delivering work as promised, never showing up on time, overcharging (excessive overages, change orders, redos, upcharging and lily gilding), not providing completed drawings, and even sheer obnoxiousness, which unfortunately come up even with the more highly regarded artistes, are never mentioned. What is the point of anonymous surveys if frank criticisms are excluded? To be regarded as the Zagat's of the industry, Franklin must do even more than overcome this unwholesome deference to her designer pals by writing a real, consumer-oriented guide. The all-too-frequent bill padding and front-ended cash collection practices of the design trade are ignored, as if these were not issues for consumers. This is a notable omission. The Zagat's standard is not met unless Franklin tackles industry issues by writing thoughtful, hard-hitting commentary on business practices -- something that seems far from her natural inclinations, judging by this book.
Another shortfall is Franklin's decision that, if a business receives "mixed" reviews, she will tell you nothing more. The book simply shows an "open folder" symbol, with no commentary. This is a cop-out. Do enough work to give a consistent rating, or put the mixed commentary in. These companies are doing business out there, and their customers should be heard. Or they should not be listed at all if they cannot be adequately described. To receive a "mixed" open folder symbol is a sort of scarlet letter that is unfair to the tradesperson, architect or designer and a disservice to the reader because it provides no real useful information.
Finally, the survey method should have been disclosed so that readers would understand what they are getting. Those surveyed were nominated by the companies profiled in the book. That is, a company or designer selected to be profiled referred its customers to Franklin and she surveyed them. Would you refer a balanced selection of customers? Of course not. You would give Franklin the customers you thought would say nice things about you. No wonder all the comments were so flattering. We have experience with a number of the people and companies profiled in the book. The hit rate was about 50% with the book's reviews. Not surprisingly, our experience with the businesses that delighted us correlated with the book's reviews. The terrible failures don't -- and of course, these were the folks that didn't refer us to be surveyed. One over-the-hill architect notorious in Fairfield County for riding on his reputation and not completing jobs is profiled in glowing terms that describe him as the next Gehry. Needless to say, this architect did not refer us to Franklin -- he knew we what we would say.
Franklin is going directly to readers to try and reduce the ability of those being profiled to influence the results. Over time, she may solve the problem. But readers need to understand what they are getting in this edition.
No matter how superb the person or business, all the profiles should be more balanced. What readers really want to know is whether tradespeople will become overextended or overcommitted on too many projects,. Are they working on spec houses at the expense of your project? Will they show up reliably? Will they stick to plan or follow their own whims? Do you have to stay on site and monitor their every move? How well do they coordinate with other trades? Do they plan their jobs effectively or cost you time and money by being hopelessly disorganized? And, of course, naming names about the prima donnas is key. But, alas, The Franklin Report is not that straightforward, lest any of those profiled be offended.
In conclusion, you will find this book very helpful, especially compared to the total dearth of information currently out there. Merely doing the book was a brilliant idea. Franklin seems well intended and may have worked with certain limitations. She is trying to launch herself as the next Zagat, and has ambitiously named the book after herself. As a former investment banker, she understands these books could be lucrative, and, like Zagat's, can be replicated in many cities if done well. Her website reflects an aggressively commercial sensibility. However, the book itself, and the survey method, are still half-baked. Their quality still needs to rise to the level of Franklin's ambitions.

The 2007 Report on Antiperspirants, Deodorants, and Body Sprays: World Market Segmentation by City
Philip M. Parker Manufacturer: ICON Group International, Inc. ProductGroup: Book Binding: Paperback ASIN: 0497712245 Release Date: 2006-11-13 |
Product Description
This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a borderless world, cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market. In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another. In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world\'s major cities for "antiperspirants, deodorants, and body sprays" for the year 2007. The goal of this report is to report my findings on the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by a city when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales. For many items, latent demand is clearly observable in sales, as in the case for food or housing items. Consider, however, the category "satellite launch vehicles". Clearly, there are no launch pads in most cities of the world. However, the core benefit of the vehicles (e.g. telecommunications, etc.) is "consumed" by residents or industries within the world\'s cities. Without certain cities, in other words, the market for satellite launch vehicles would be lower for the world in general. One needs to allocate, therefore, a portion of the worldwide economic demand for launch vehicles to both regions and cities. This report takes the broader definition and considers, therefore, a city as a part of the global market.

In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world\'s major cities for "men\'s body sprays" for the year 2007.

The 2007 Report on Womens Body Sprays: World Market Segmentation by City

This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a borderless world, cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. Book Description
"Miracles Made Possible" is a series of stories that dramatically illustrate the power of faith, the wonder of God, and the reality of miracles in everyday life.William Thomas Tucker was an avowed atheist when life's circumstances forced him to make a desparate plea to God--an act of faith that was rewarded by a sweries of larger-than-life miracles. Tucker relates how his continued faith allows him to request miracles for just about anything, including curing a friend's cancer, finding a place to live, and receiving $5000 from a distant relative just when he needed it most.

Enlightening miracle(s).......2004-07-04
I believe his "it" or
"godhead" or
"My God is all" or
"My God is real; all the rest is unreal" or
"Worry is taking control. faith is freedom, freedom from the responsibility of your life, and heart's desires. Anger is not necessary...just faith and love" or
"What you believe...is what you receive".
& How to get a miracle "let go, and let God"
"Know that your miracle has already happened"
"FERGEDDABOUTIT"
"Give it up to get it"
Although he didn't say as such, he reiterates that there is no such thing as chance or coincidence, since it is where miracles reside. So within the text, I offer William to note that on the page number, where after reading the entire old & new testament a third time, he finally found a "formula" for getting a miracle just for the asking. It is also the page number where he referred for the 1st time to the Conversation with God Trilogy. The page number is who I AM. Furthermore his "Socratic Method" & the end of his narration appeared on 2 of the same number with 100 pages in between.
The emphasis of the book is in exposing the various astonishing miracles that happened in his life, starting after his loving wife has committed herself to an institution & psychiatrists practiced assisted-suicide & they tried their damnedest to condemn William to the same fate beside trying to ply away custody of his kids. Only a real miracle and finding trusting "it" saved him. Or rather it was a continuous succession of miracles & fasting/not eating that woke him up on the 18th day's doorbell ring (notice the number which is again the same as the above page number, albeit in different form, like his wonderfully correct chapter 13 on "The Secret of Live" where everything has opposite value & meaning from human here on earth, the number does stand for 'unconditional love', instead of what Christianity has blasphemed it into - based on fear).
There are 3 things that I find somewhat missing in his "discovery of god" from my observation and not to be seen as criticism. First, he didn't really balance his miracles with enough examples when he failed to make them appear. E.g. his case of giving his winning lottery ticket away because he worried somebody else deserve it more. This is exactly how I felt when I participated in any lottery since my first raffle in elementary school in Paris. Second, like his friend Neale of the CwG trilogy, they both didn't do God's willing recommendation of being completely transparent to everyone, thus 'sharing totally' their own experience of life. Neale uses the excuse of 'caring' for his ex-spouses privacy in Friendship with God & William seems to be without much sexual desire beside others thinking he may takeover their wives in his time of need among other things. Notice God didn't cut on sex as a lengthy topic in the first 2 CwG.
A good counter-example is Ken Keyes Jr. in his autobiographical 'Discovering the Secrets of Happiness' written in 1989 about 'practicing unconditional love', as a quadriplegic for more than 40 years due to polio. I am also curious how come his 3rd wife Penny didn't last & he passed away on 12/20/1995 married to a Lydia according to his obituary? To lead by example, my own experience is that a wonderful young lady, named Lisa, faked being pregnant by me & I bought Lisa a $100k penthouse in Beijing in 2001 in her name. This caused the effect of me really knowing a wonderfully random girl, named Kite, 26 years younger than I & she gave birth to an 8lb. boy, named Imagine after John Lennon's song, almost 2 years ago & her even more innocent younger sister Happy with incredible experience of their own, that's all part of my 'being unconditional love' experience. Naturally together with all these, I do have to thank forever my ex-wife, Annie, for allowing to share her sea-shore house rent-free while she sold her Manhattan loft for more than a million this year. That's true happiness & I know pure bliss too by simply being one with a strand of grass.
Third there is an imbalance like Neale's books & too much emphasis on Jesus Christ, as he was elevated in the Koran & he wasn't dumb enough to 'sacrifice' himself by going to the cross as clearly stated in 'The Course in Miracle' dictated by himself & 'The Seth Materials' & 'The Koran'. In reality the truth or faith or unconditional love as in 'love one another' is persistent everywhere. The art of 'letting go' or 'do nothing' or 'let nature takes its course' is espoused by the dead Lao Tze & Buddha 500 years before the 'dead' Jesus & again 2000 years later by the living Werner Erhard of "let go and let God" p.350 CwG3 & few others besides myself. BTW, in Jesus' heart he had no enemy, so the sentence give the other cheek to your enemy is not a quote from Jesus, while 'love your neighbor as your self' is both mentioned in the old & new testament. Naturally your neighbor can be any one, a lover, a murderer & it's not for you to decide but to accept only. The Gospel of Thomas contain true sayings by the mystical Jesus & is closer to unconditional love.
Last, not as a judgement but for us to create our own reality when are we going to stop bitching for 'God to help us'?! Instead can we switch to 'us help God' create what was so wonderfully presented in Ch. 13 of William's book as 'The Secret of Life' or unconditional love society? Because that reality is not a promise, it is for us to create heaven on earth by helping God or create hell if you think you live in hell. So you are & so be it, it is each one's choice from free will. As we are ONE & there is ONLY ONE OF US, let true sharing begin ad infinitum...
More than personal empowerment.......2004-06-27
