Book Description
As a teenager pretty much left to raise herself, Lucy Diamond is a narrator with a radiant yet guarded heart. As she races at breakneck pace toward womanhood, everything is at stake for her, producing an urgency and dread that she holds at bay with humor and grace. But while Lucy charges ahead, her mother's youth is fading. Simultaneously embracing and resisting their similarities, Fromm reveals both women's emotional vulnerabilities and their deep mutual need. Conveyed through dialogue that is both laugh-aloud-funny and true, Lucy stands out in contemporary literature for her large heart and inimitable grit.

Good characters.......2006-12-20
This book was well written, I liked the Lucy character, and I think it was a good portrayal of a young girl in those circumstances. Most of the other reviewers have summed up the plot well, so I won't do that, but I DO want to say that I was really offended by the racial slur used to describe the character Ron (well, describing his accent) towards the end of the book. I re-read the paragraph over and over to see if it really said that. I can only guess Mr. Fromm, the author was trying to convey Lucy's disgust for this character. This could have been done without that expression. Shame on Mr. Fromm and his editors for letting a racist expression, which added nothing to the story, into the book!
An Unusual Protagonist.......2005-10-12
The book held my interest & I'm always amazed that a male writer can get into the head of a female teenager. This family was certainly atypical & the main character a feisty youngster with a sharp wit. She shows her independence while trying to grasp a role model-her parents are not to be admired.
Too vulgar for teen lit.......2005-07-24
I checked this book out from our local library in the teen lit section. I was curious what teen lit was like now. I found this book to be overly vulgar and too explicit. Lucy is a complex character. She has flaws. I wish Mr. Fromm had allowed her to use her strengths to resist her temptations and overcome her life circumstances. Instead, it felt like Lucy's only choice in life was to live like her mother and continue the cycle. What teenage girl should read a book with the heroine sleeping around? Furthermore, we hear the 'F'word way too much in society. Why do we need to read it over and over in our literature? If a movie says this word more than twice it is automatically rated R. People can't see a rated R movie until they are 17. Apparently they can read a rated R book as soon as they have a library card. If adults choose to read this junk, it's their choice. It shouldn't be marketed as a teen read to impressionable adolescents. Place it in the adult fiction section. I don't want my daughter thinking that the way Lucy leads her life is how it should be for all 14-16 year old girls. In my opinion, this book promotes promiscuity and vulgarity ignoring an opportunity to inspire young women to rise above difficult circumstances in life.
Angie's Review.......2004-10-04
How do you face the realization that your parents really didn't want to raise you, and at any moment may stop trying altogether? Lucy Diamond sparkles with sarcastic humor and raw wit through the heart breakingly honest truth that unfolds before her eyes as she blossoms into womanhood. Pete Fromm is the author of "As Cool As I am", a gritty yet charming story of Lucy Diamond shining on while her heart takes a stomping from her nearly absent mother Lanie and father Chuck.
We meet Lucy as an almost boyish adolescent, with her freshly shaved head, chasing her father's pickup truck down the street as he leaves again to "send home the bacon". As a logger, Chuck follows the work, while Lucy and Lanie are left alone for long periods of time to fend for themselves. Lucy transforms in a matter of months from slat to saucy, like her mother, and the teenage boys start going crazy for her. The only adult guidance in Lucy's life is her lonely and disenchanted mother, who stays out late with what Lucy refers to as "uncles". This aggravates the mother-daughter relationship, especially when Lucy has to cover for Lanie on Christmas when Chuck calls and Lanie is out on a date, because both fear Chuck's reaction. One of the most fiery moments in the book is after Chuck has been gone for over a year, and returns catching Lucy having sex with her boyfriend. The boyfriend easily fends off Chuck, but Lucy is not so lucky, sporting a black-eye. The sting of the smack to the face couldn't hurt half as much as what Chuck tells Lucy, a twist in the story that will make your jaw drop.
I admired Lucy for her strength and intelligence throughout the story, and could understand Lucy's feelings about sex. To Lucy, it seemed she felt it was a tool or way to control the men around her, and escape from loneliness. Naturally, this is what Lucy saw her mother Lanie doing, and it seemed inevitable for Lucy to subconsciously pick up the characteristic. All in all, this was a deep and profound story of Lucy growing up, and growing into herself. The book is full of salty phrases, real characters you will never forget, and will leave you with an endless connection to the one and only Lucy Diamond, the coolest chick since bread came sliced.
A Sometimes Implausible Coming of Age Novel.......2004-04-13
As Cool as I Am is an entertaining, well-written coming of age novel with one major flaw in it. The story follows Lucy, the young heroine in the novel, from about the ages of 14 to 16. She lives with her mom while her dad works as a logger, visiting only intermittently. She has only one close friend, a boy with whom she ultimately has what is pretty much an implausible physical relationship with. He moves away, and she takes up with another young man. Lucy is a fairly complicated character and I think Fromm does a very good job with her, other than her relationship with the young men--that struck me as a male fantasy more than anything else. Still--the novel kept me reading--the story is interesting and entertaining--a quick and easy read.
Book Description
Darksong Rising is the third Spellsong book , and concludes a trilogy featuring Anna Marshall, the music teacher and soprano from the midwest transported into a fantasy world where magic works according to musical principles--making her a powerful magician. Now Regent of Defalk, Anna must battle men who would destroy her and claim Defalk for their own.
Customer Reviews:
Not Free SF Reader.......2007-09-03
An aging Anna is still the boss, but she still struggles to gain respect. Her regency charge is almost an adult now, and does some of the usual teenage things. She has to try and prepare him for his role through all of this.
The local rich guys are not a big fan of how good you are at your job being more important than whose womb you came out of, but this is the system Anna is instituting.
She finally comes around to the idea that getting laid might be good, too.
The strongest of the series so far.......2006-01-24
In contrast to some of the other reviews posted here, I have to say I think this is the strongest, best-written, and most tightly plotted novel in the series so far. Gone are the interminable references to Anna clearing mucous from her throat, the endless reminders that she needs to eat, the countless comparisons of Jecks to Robert Mitchum, and much of the pointless sitting around and nattering that marred earlier installments. Each of these are still present, but thankfully not OMNIpresent as they were before.
In fact, I wonder if Modesitt either hired a ghost writer or a better editor for Darksong Rising, it's that much better-written than the first two.
I was glad to see them finally bringing Jimbob (Worst. King. Name. Ever.) along on an expedition and trying to involve him in the running of things -- I swear, they treat him like a stuffed doll for most of the series.
The "love story" between Anna and Jecks finally gets moving as well, which is good to finally see. The only way I could even tell in the first two books that there was any interest at all was that Modesitt tells us so. One of his great weaknesses as a writer, in my opinion, is that too often he tells us what we need to know rather than letting the story or the character's actions tell us. To quote Mizz Doolittle: "Don't talk of love, SHOW ME!"
Ahem. Anyway, by far the best of the first three books.
Fun, but not fulfilling.......2005-06-06
This third book in the Spellsong Cycle left me a little unsatisfied. I say a little and I mean it literally, because when this book was good it was DY-NO-MITE ala Jay Jay Evans. However, I did find myself wishing that Modessitt would get a little more experimental or playful with the story at times. For example:
- What would happen if she fretted her lutar? Wouldn't it be louder?
- What would happen if her daughter sent her a bunch of Earth-made, precision instruments? What about a really simple phonograph and symphony records? It wouldn't amplify, but it would probably be earth-shakingly magical in one area.
- I'd like to learn more about Jecks. Maybe even have a whole chapter devoted to Jecks and what he was doing. That would have been great in this book because he was in the castle by himself for who knows how long. What did he have to do?
Here is the good and the bad of Darkson Rising.
Good:
1) I loved this one idea that Anna had for solving her money problems - and the realistic issues raised by it. That falls a little into the "experimental/playful" category I was just complaining about. This was awesome, but I wish there had been more about it or like it.
2) I was happy with the character development of Jimbob. I'd like more!
3) I love the merit system she forces down everyone's throat, and her constant reminders to anyone who urges her to be cautious and move slowly that Defalk needs to change or it will fail.
4) I was very happy to see Anna actually have a challenge with young prophet. Too often she shows up, sings, cries about it, eats something and then rides on to do it again.
5) I appreciate the way Modessitt portrays people who are good and evil. Konstinn doesn't appear to be completely evil, and the lord of the Western Marches doesn't appear completely good - and its done realistically. I like this because it allows for unpredictability from the characters.
Bad:
1) I get it - sorcery makes her hungry. I have an idea that would save Modessitt lots of repetition and typing and us a lot of repetitive reading: she makes a really well-worded song which enchants a bag in such a way that the food inside of it transfers to her stomach all day long, bit by bit, every hour on the hour.
2) Lord Jecks is going to obviously be a more important character later - lets learn a little more about him. He's very two-dimensional and it'd be better if he wasn't.
3) I'd like to know more about the world and its magic system. How does the music-magic work? How far back does this world's history go? What is its relationship to the mist worlds? Are there other magics in the mist worlds? Could Anna go there for help with something? Could they threaten invasion? This isn't a bad point so much as another wish list - my apologies.
4) Here's a genuine bad point: Anna defeated the Sturanese (sp?) in a most humiliating manner, yet we only see Nordwei and that southern country's reactions to the things she does. We see nothing from the Sturanese - I think they WOULD react or plot her downfall, and I expect to see more about them in later books.
Ok, that's all. Yes, I gave this book a 4 because I really liked the plot, the characters and all the things that happened. But I'm left craving more of the imagination and invention that I've gotten from the author - to a greater or lesser extent - in the other books that I've read by him.
Poorly thought out.......2003-04-25
I enjoyed the first two in this series, but this one was, frankly, just stupid in places. Not only were the characters black-and-white cutouts rehashed from the previous books, but the sorceress herself was just plain dumb at times. If you know the Bad Guy uses huge drums to amplify his magic and you have this convenient spell that rains fire from the heavens, it might occur to any sentient being to hit the drums with the fire while the Bad Guy is asleep, instead of waiting until he wakes up and tries to defend himself. Apparently that's too much to hope for.
Also too much to hope is moral ambiguity and any chance that someone the sorceress dislikes at first glance will turn out to be anything other than a Bad Guy (possibly temporarily tolerated for Political Purposes).
I had high hopes for this series. Pity this book is in it.
Treading water........2001-12-27
Strange book. Modesitt is almost always an entertaining writer-- this is no exception. His books are adept at introducing realism into fantasy, the characters worry about unions and logistics and politics more than they do evil and magic and that is one of the things that I very much like about his writing. I liked this book for the very same reasons.
As a series entry, however, _Darksong Rising_ is oddly lacking. We see no character development from Anna and no real continuation of the older more interesting threads (Seers of Wei, for instance)and seemingly nothing new is introduced to be picked up later. It's as though Modesitt had to turn out a new installment for the publishers, but hadn't quite figured out where he needs to take his little fantasy-based political experiment. There are some interesting questions raised here (as in the others of the series) about cultural change, appropriate use of power, and political systems but I think that in order to keep the readers' attention Modesitt is going to have to come up with an equally interesting plot direction.

Christian centric.......2006-01-29
The book is well organized and indexed. It includes a glossary of over 1,100 entries. It is also nicely illustated, with over 200 photographs, nearly half of them in color.
I had hoped that this book would be a fairly balanced exploration of the world's spirituality. It is not. It is more a history of religion with a Christian bias. In each section, except those dedicated to Christianity, one clearly gets the sense that it is written from the perspective of an outsider. Dismissive statements and questionable conclusions are the rule.
Take heed from the book's preface concerning the 52 contributors listed; "They write from a Christian concern to descibe each faith 'as it is'...If conviction shows through, however, it is because there can never be total objectivity when it comes to deeply-held matters of belief."
Indeed.
informative, but highly opinionated.......2003-04-19
this book gives a basic overview of the worlds religions, but i found it a bit frustrating to read. in my opinion, anyone wishing to read the basic facts of each religion out of curiousity alone, will find that certian excerpts are highly opinionated. the section on buddhism, one part of it is titled, "the appeal of buddhism in the west", this is not problem, but do we need support why "people can live good lives only when given new life by jesus christ, otherwise they are powerless... and ...unable to escape the cycle of sin and death...." one other example is in response to a zen buddihist excerpt which the authors says, "this thinking is pushed to the absurd, it is useless to seek rational answers to them, the tension they produce must be borne to the utmost...." there are many other statments like these peppered throughout this book. on the other hand it does have some good information making it a useful introduction to the many religions. maybe the best thing would be a more appropiate title for the book, so that people who would like a nuetral yet informative approach will be better informed.
SUPERB SURVEY AND INVALUABLE REFERENCE BOOK.......2000-12-09
I am enrolled in a masters program where this is an assigned text for an elective. After having been force-fed literally hundreds of readings from hundreds of books - this book stood out as the only text that I purchased. It is a fantastic, impartial, overview which includes great illustrations and charts. It is equally rewarding to read straight through, only the parts that interest you or as a handy reference.
A good textbook and/or information source........1999-03-30
This is a very informative, "chunky" book. Excellent pictures and charts! A book worth having!

The Book of Kells, one of the great illuminated manuscripts, sits in the library of Trinity College in Dublin, a new page daily revealed to the public. You could do much the same with Michael Bauer's The Secrets of Success Cookbook in your kitchen, displaying a new and wonderful signature recipe from a San Francisco restaurant each day for 300 days. Imagine. You would start with Parmesan Budinis with Warm Asparagus and Pea Shoots from Acquerello, learning the secrets of baking a successful custard, and end with an Apple Galette from Zax wherein the secret of success consists of unsalted butter and chilled dough.
As a food and restaurant critic for the San Francisco Chronicle, Michael Bauer has had ample opportunity to take a note or two about the kinds of dishes that make one restaurant stand out from another, the so-called signature dish. It would be one thing to cajole Bay Area chefs into sharing their recipes and making certain those commercial recipes actually work in a home kitchen. But Bauer takes it one step farther: He ferrets out the successful technique behind each dish. Who in their right mind would go to all the time and trouble to preserve lemons for a dish like Moroccan Game Hens with Preserved Lemons and Olives as served at Kasbah? Well, it turns out that what normally takes a month can take a week if you freeze the lemons and add salt--so why not give it a try?
Bauer introduces each recipe with detailed notes about the chef and restaurant as well as baseline information about the actual dish. Recipe instructions have been pared down to the essentials. A Secrets of Success sidebar accompanies each recipe. The difficulty comes with page after page after page of deliciousness. Where to start? What to try next? Will you start with the Grand Café recipe for Polenta Soufflé with Mushroom Sauce? Or what about Bradley Ogden's Potato Skins with Smoked Salmon and Horseradish Crème Fraiche from the Lark Creek Inn? Baronda's Mixed Green Salad with Grapefruit and Warm Shrimp certainly looks good. So does the Seared Black Pepper Lavender Fillet of Beef from Café la Haye. The list is 300 recipes deep. One a day would take you through the better part of a year. And what a year that would be. --Schuyler Ingle

Customer Reviews:
Fabulous, great tips and wonderful recipes.......2006-05-09
A serious foodie that has been perfecting her cooking skills for the last 25 years in her home kitchen writes this review. My favorite cookbook is "The Professional Chef" by the Culinary Institute of America. I am also a cookbook collector, with more than 500 books in my cooking library. With the many books in my cookbook collection I find that I am frequently disappointed in my recent purchases. That was not the case with this purchase.
This book is one of those little gems that is full of tidbits of information that can make anyone a better cook. In the introduction the author shares what he refers to as the general truths that any home cook can use to make himself or herself a better cook. These are wonderful tips, and I will share them below:
1. Marinating and/or brining meat and vegetables makes a big difference in the final quality of a dish.
2. Using more than one method of cooking in the same dish. Example searing a chicken breast on the stovetop and then finishing it in the oven.
3. Swirl a little butter in the pan to finish a sauce just before plating.
4. Reduce, reduce, and reduce your sauces.
5. Finish your pasta in the sauce. A tip every Italian knows by heart.
6. Crank up the heat of the oven and on the stovetop.
7. Weighing ingredients is much more precise than measuring when baking.
8. Balancing flavors in critical.
The recipes in this book are amazing. If you have ever eaten in San Francisco you know how marvelous the food is in that town. This book takes the best of a real food town and puts it together in one book. I have enjoyed every recipe in this book that I have tried. Every recipe includes a little tip in a separate box that the author wants to highlight. These tips are really wonderful for anyone that wants to improve their cooking skills. I wish that this book had been around 25 years ago when I began seriously honing my cooking skills.
Of all the recipes included in this book, I think that the one from Wolfgang Puck for his Smoked Salmon Pizza with Lemon Creme Fraiche, Red Onion and Caviar is hands down my favorite.
I would recommend this book to anyone that is a foodie. I have not had any difficulty locating any of the ingredients that the recipes call for at my local mega marts (Wegman's and/or Whole Foods).
I ADORE THIS COOKBOOK.......2005-02-20
Besides being a good read, the recipes are just wonderful. I am a professional cook and have used several with great results. There are many 'easy' recipes as well as the predictable 2,000 step restaurant-type ones. Don't be put off by this. If you like TASTE---this is a great cookbook. Try the 'chocolate mousse'---to die for....
Some VERY good recipes.......2004-03-05
Everything I've tried in this cookbook has been great. I lived in the Bay Area for quite a while and I miss many of the restaurants. This cookbook lets me enjoy some of the great food I had in San Francisco without buying a plane ticket.
Especially tasty have been: Pan-Seared Hailbut with Leek and Pernod Sauce, Pork Braised in Milk and Herbs, Garlic Chicken, and my all-time favorte rib recipe Baby Back Ribs with Ginger-Soy Glaze.
I've learned a lot from the recipes in this book. The "Secrets of Success" sidebars are really helpful. For example, I learned that cooking ribs three times -- steaming, baking, then grilling--makes the ribs incredbily tender and juicy.
I don't quite understand the other reviewers' objections to the ingredients. Is it really that hard to get items like saffron, Pernod, or soft goat cheese outside of major cities? This book's recipes don't require many ingredients more exotic than these. And yes, there is a recipe for tongue salad, but there are also over a dozen recipes for chicken.
This cookbook doesn't just sit on the shelf, I'm regularly trying new recipes and almost all of them have been successes. I might even try the Liver and Onions with Apples.
Recipes from the BEST but without the high price tag.......2003-03-28
If you want the luxury of eating out (and paying premium price) and don't want to bother with food prep, this book isn't for you. But if you enjoy the creativity, fun and economical (compared to restaurant prices) results of making your own meals you'll love this book. Admittedly, some of the recipes and ingredients are a bit out of the ordinary (Tongue Salad, for instance) but others use ordinary ingredients to get extraordinary results (Polenta Soup, made nothing more unusual than cornmeal, spices, some broth, etc). And the desserts...ahhh...try the Creme Brulee with the unusual addition of Cognac..or the Coconut Cake with Caramel ...or the Pear Broche Bread Pudding....and savor the results.
Disappointing.......2001-03-19
Wish I would have seen the list of receipes before buying this book. Too many have items I would never be interested in like quail, squab and liver -- YUK!! Also, who has the time to grind their own meat for burgers? I am sending this one back ASAP.

Best of the Style books on Bali.......2000-06-12
Excellent photos of the best houses, building materials, gardens, fabric, crafts, and architectural details in Bali. Very beautiful as a coffee table book, quite useful as a style reference book.
The text is very nicely written, without repetition or fluff; it serves mainly to illuminate the huge variety of photographs. In other words, the reader will learn a little about Balinese geography, sensibility and culture from Walker, but not in intricate detail or with scholarly authority. I read it cover to cover in a couple of days, and felt it was a decent grounding in Bali style.
Author, editor and photographer should be praised for finding examples of all kinds of Bali style: garish, sublime, fancy, plain, funky, sophisticated, folksy, casual, formal, sacred.
A solid overview, useful to decorators, architects, mere Bali fans.
Bali style.......2000-04-27
I never read this book, so I'm very happy to discover all the informations about architecture of the Pacific area, and I'd like to be more lucky and get that book in my shelves.
When I read the editorial reviews and the hardcover, I already fall in love (déja amoureux). my mind is risen when I get the opportunity to meet very nice things, when I read very nice descriptions, and mainly when I watch very nice pictures about very nicest, cutest houses.
I really look forward to get an exemplary of this book to enhance the richness of my mind!
may day, may day, may day! Help me to get it!

Book Description
Do you secretly hope that there's more magic to life than the conventional world admits? Is there a little wildness underneath your public persona that yearns to be unleashed? Do you believe, deep down inside, that if you ask a Question you'll receive an Answer?
Owl Medicine is a true story that traces one couple's amazing journey into a world of magic and omens, messages and mystery. They ask questions - of themselves and of the Universe - and receive answers from the most astounding of teachers.
If you recognize yourself in this tale, maybe it's time to risk asking your questions. The answers that come may change your life forever, too.

Wow, this is a must read............2005-09-09
I read this at the recommendation of someone I care about, who happens to be related to the author. She actually has no idea that I actually ordered the book and i read it in 3 days. I could not put it down;I walked and read on every break I had at work, my lunch break consisted of eating and reading and I actually just finished it tonight instead of watching football, becasue it captures you and the author let's you enter her mind to hear her inner unspoken thoughts, and when she is speaking to someone, youalmost feel like you have been transposed into the room and are watching the discussion up close, and no one can see you. I was moved to tears at least 3 times during the reading, and not because of the book being sad, but because I could feel the pain and struggles at certain points, and it reminded me of my own struggles. We all have our problems, and this book shows you just how important communication is to not only getting past things, but also an essential and important part of any relationship. So Lindsay, thanks so much for telling me to read this, and I do hope that sometime soon we can sit and discuss this wonderful book...and to the author, thank you for opening your heart and your life to the world with this book, I feel a sense of inspiration that I did not know was inside of me....Sammy
A must read.......2002-10-20
I read Owl Medicine in 48 hours and could not put it down. It captured me from page one, and held me hostage until the end. It is the amazing tale of one couples journey thru fear, magic, anger, trust, omens, discovery and ultimatley, truth. I highly recommend that you read Owl Medicine. It will open your eyes to yourself!
Three Cheers for Lisa J. G. Weikel.......2001-11-11
Lisa is a gifted writer and this real-life adventure story makes for compelling reading. Fans of Jamie Sams, especially the "Medicine Cards" and books, will definitely identify with the author's own journey of self-discovery. Although I didn't always agree with every point the author had to make, this nonfiction book kept me guessing how things would turn out until the very end. I look forward to her next book and the further adventures of Lisa and Karl.

The book unraveled an ordinary couples journey to a more well rounded relationship. Not only did it open my eyes to a new way of thinking but made me realize that the more we know the more we realize the things we don't know and we can continually grow as individuals as well as a couple.

Book Description
This book is the first comprehensive treatment of Aotus, the nocturnal New World owl monkeys often used in behavioral and biomedical studies. Found in tropical forests from Nicaragua to Argentina, owl monkeys have been used in laboratories as model organisms for studies of diseases like malaria, and various forms of cancer, as well as studies of reproductive physiology and neuroanatomical structure and function. These and other recent studies of this fascinating primate are included in this new volume. As the only book devoted exclusively to owl monkeys, this volume is an invaluable addition to the library of anyone interested in primate biology, evolution, ecology, and behavior.
Key Features
* Only book devoted entirely to owl monkeys
* Surveys issues that pertain to wild and captive populations
* Represents the breadth of studies that model organisms can engender

Aotus: A thorough exlporation of an understudied animal.......2000-04-05
In this book, Baer does an excellent job of reviewing research about Aotus. The books seems to lack depth at some points, but this doesn't seem to be the fault of the author, rather of the body of literature available to review. The writing style is succinct and the topics flow from one to the next very well. Much more research is needed on this wonderful and unique animal, and hopefully this book will inspire many to emabark on this exploration.

Book Description
WITCH DOCTOR : The Craft of Healing Just the stuff that works! Take control of the healing powers of food, herbs, homeopathy, essential oils, candles, crystals, ogham, runes, Reiki symbols, Wicca and Chi Kung. Health is a battle. Make preemptive strikes. With this book you will be "armed." The world of alternative medicine can be bewildering for people. I have had clients go to the health food store and get too confused to even buy the vitamins. I convey homespun knowledge in simple language. My goal is not to write a compendium of every herb and potion, but instead to offer a pharmacopeia that you can grow in your garden. An arsenal of a selected few products you can make or buy that will just work. I am not a doctor. I am a witch. At times I have affectionately been called a "witch doctor". The witch hunts branded those of us who used the age old herbal remedies as sorcerers and shrouded them in ignorant superstitions that still persist today.
Customer Reviews:
Good Medicine........2005-03-08
I enjoyed this book. Its concise, easy to read, and informative. The ideas presented in the book work. Plain and simple.
I have read many different healing books and this one in particular has things you can do to help yourself in addition to other alternative methods such as energy work, and yoga, etc.
You can also use this text as a springboard for learning more about herbs and things of that nature. :)
I liked it, I give a thumbs up and I think you will as well.
Everything but the kitchen sink.......2005-03-06
This is a one-stop-shopping approach to wellness, written in an engaging and no-nonsense style. It covers herbal remedies, food combining, reiki, crystals, and much more. While the author doesn't position herself as a replacement for a physician, this is an excellent book to look into if, like many people these days, you have some doubts about the often harmful chemical 'solutions' that allopathic medicine throws at various ailments, hoping they'll work. Many of the remedies in this book, on the other hand, have proven their effectiveness over thousands of years. Which do you prefer: a flu shot that probably won't work and in fact injects harmful agents into your body, or a more holistic approach that makes your body more ready for battle against flu, cold, or whatever else the environment challenges it with? This book gives you the tools. Stop being a guinea pig for toxic modern 'medicine'; stick to a gentler way that works.
