Book Description
Against the lush and exotic background of a mid-1900's Cambodian landscape, Ona Ny's childhood unfolds like a dream. She is treasured by her family, particularly her brother, and though her ecstatic trances sometimes make her feel like a bit of an oddball, her ability to translate her visions into art is gratifying.
But while her mystical nature may seem frivolous during her childhood, years later, after Ona has become a loving wife and mother, it enables her to detect the subtle changes around her that indicate that the blissful tranquillity of everyday life is about to come to an end.
BUDDHA WEPT is the story of the life of an Asian mystic who lives through Cambodia's self-mutilation at the hands of the despot Pol Pot during the late 1970s. The character of Ona Ny is so beautifully drawn, at once so ephemeral and so authentically human, that the reader cannot help but want to be at her side as her life's journey takes her from a world of bliss to a world of unspeakable cruelty. Her sufferings are the reader's sufferings, and her giftthe ability to muster the spiritual resources needed to transcend sufferingis the reader's as well.
BUDDHA WEPT is about the many aspects of good and evil that lie within each of us. It is about saying 'yes' to life, even when the word feels like a contradiction to the chaos around us. Most of all, it is about the vast power that sleeps within the core of the human heart until heartache awakens it.
Customer Reviews:
From the depths of pain to the heights of transcendence.......2003-05-14
One of the most beautiful, yet painful books I have read in a long time, Buddha Wept brings the reader through a spectrum of emotions as the terrifying conditions of Cambodia during the 1970's is revealed. The author's presence is essentially invisible as he brings life to every character. Poetically written with great attention to detail -- the reader weeps, laughs and experiences the chilling possiblity of transcendence through life's deepest horrors. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who cares to take a closer look at the existence we have created.
Inspirational!.......2003-04-28
Buddha Wept is a beautifully written novel. An easy, thought provoking read. This story expounds on man's inhumanity to man and our own inherent ability to transcend even the most horrific circumstances. Those who challenge themselves to overcome themselves in life will understand and especially appreciate this book. Rocco LoBosco should keep putting out his message of resilience of character, it is much needed. Bravo!
A Wonderful Novel.......2003-04-13
This book is so moving. It is written so beautifully. It is simply written, yet the message is so deep and so universal. It is haunting in a way.You can't put it down once you start it.It is a very quick read but the message says with you forever, pulling at your heart and gently urging you to-"remember this always".Heartwrenching and inspirational- Highly recommended to all!!

A fun read.......2007-03-12
Not perhaps as good as The Wiz Biz I but it still makes a good companion book. Light, fun, fairly clever read that pokes fun at computer programers and does not settle for the obvious.
As good as the first!.......2005-07-09
This is a great sequel to first "Wiz Biz" volume. Now that we've met William Irving "Wiz" Zumwalt and learned about his World and his magic compiler, the fun really begins!
In the first half, "The Wizardry Cursed", an interesting set of circumstances brings two computer criminals to the cusp of the World where magic works. They are trying to take over both Wiz's World and our own, and it will take all the magic of the Council, the inventiveness of the programmers, and a lot of luck to stop them.
In the second half, "The Wizardry Consulted", Wiz is thrown out of his element once again, this time to a small town with a bit of a dragon problem. He needs to dust off all his knowledge of how consultants work, in order to keep the city council busy so he can get his job done. In this book, the usual programmer quotes that begin many chapters have been replaced by quotes from the "consultant's handbook", telling how to B.S. and get away with it.
Although there are plenty of bad puns, and the jokes may be a bit too technical for most people, overall this book is a great read.
A fascinating breath of fresh air.......2003-11-04
This wonderful book is actually two books for the price of one: The Wizardry Cursed and The Wizardry Consulted! These novels tell the continuing story of Walter Irving "Wiz" Zumwalt, a computer programmer and magician extraordinaire. Hijacked from Earth to a world where magic works and technology doesn't, Wiz realized that magic could be worked liked programming, and turned the world upside down. First, Wiz must control how the "new" magic is used, so as to avoid a war between humans and the powerful beings that have run the world up to this point. But, this proves to not be the hardest job facing Wiz, when a couple of malicious hackers from Earth make their own journey to the other side.
This is a great book, one that I have enjoyed reading several times. The system of magic that Rick Cook used was a fascinating breath of fresh air, and I must say that I enjoyed the stories and characters immensely! I highly recommend this light-hearted swords-and-sorcery fantasy to you.

Oh this was fun!.......2006-03-14
Yes, I enjoyed this story very much. As a software engineer it gave me a lot of thinking about how I would handle things. hehehee. If you like a bit of magic thrown in with your logic, you will enjoy this one. I especially loved the later parts, with more programmers involved. Very fun read.
A fun read.......2005-07-05
"The Wiz Biz" and the sequal "Wiz Biz II: Cursed and Consulted", about a Silicon Valley programmer transported into a world where magic exists, are fun and compelling. It's a clever idea and it is well, if not artfully, executed. The characters are types, but not stereotypes. The author, Rick Cook, while creating a beautiful, buxom mate for his main character, rises well above the kind of stereotype that would confine the audience for these books to young men. The world is well imagined and there's lots of humor. The more you know about about programming and the computer world the more in jokes you'll catch but there's plenty there for the merely peripherally geeky. Business schools could assign these books as a intro text to illustrate the reality of consulting, the pitfalls of charging in with a "great solution" before reviewing the current environment, the importance of considering the long term consequences before acting and the importance of creative thinking.
A good summer read.
A fascinating breath of fresh air.......2003-10-24
This wonderful book is actually two books for the price of one: Wizard's Bane and The Wizardry Compiled! These novels tell the story of Walter Irving "Wiz" Zumwalt, a computer programmer extraordinaire who is hijacked from Earth, and brought to a world where magic works, but technology doesn't. The wizard who brought over Wiz is dead, and no one can figure out why he was brought, but when Wiz discovers that magic can be handled just like programming, the nature of the world turns upside down. The Dark League has had its own way too long, and now they are about to find out what happens when a hacker turns his attention against them.
This is a great book, one that I have enjoyed reading several times. The system of magic that Rick Cook used was a fascinating breath of fresh air, and I must say that I enjoyed the stories and characters immensely! I highly recommend this light-hearted swords-and-sorcery fantasy to you.
Good read.......2003-06-26
Nice little story.
A modern programmer thrown into the world of magic. Unique look at a magic system that is based on computer language...story does a good job of telling the whole story so that you aren't left hanging for the second book, but does leave you wanting to further explore what happens to Wiz and his firey hedge-witch.
I felt the end was a bit rushed, but still it was great.
The WizBiz.......2002-12-09
I enjoyed the books (It's a two in one deal).
The characters were entertaining and the second part was the best. This is a good book for lazy days or long plain rides.
I would suggest it for anyone who enjoys the fantasy realm with a twist. It brings the 21st century (Wiz) and mixes it with that realm of magics.
I enjoyed it I hope you will too.

An Ambitious Pre-Prequel Project.......2006-04-12
For Star Wars fans of the mid-Nineties, liking Star Wars was actually a defining characteristic - it wasn't frowned upon as Star Trek unfortunately is - and any new info or project was savagly consumed. So, when Lucasfilm announced it's 'Star Wars Movie Without The Movie', fans were thrilled.
This book ties together every chapter unveiled in multimedia (the book, the comic, the toys, the CD, and the video game) and weaves together the entire story, from inception to execution. It's not narrative of course, it's a guide, but for anyone who wants the entire story of Episode V 1/2 compiled or explained, or just wants to revisit 1996, this is a great book.
Interesting.......2003-10-07
This book answers a lot of questions yet raises many more. How did Black Sun start? What deadly flaw was the Emporer hiding? A very interesting read.
Enjoyable.......1999-06-05
This is the first Star Wars book I've completed. It's good and falls right in place with the rest of the Star Wars trilogy.

If you need a book for your game just sit right back and order today
Not enough detail........1999-01-02
This book doesn't show where the 15th challenge point is for the Gall Spaceport level. Challenge point location details are often lacking in every chapter, and the maps are crudely drawn and difficult to read at best. There are far too many cute descriptions about what is happening on the screen (e.g., "...burn another wampa."). Cut the chatter: just give us precise details and cheat codes. That's what makes a good game guide.

Mitford cooks.......2007-10-08
I truly enjoy buying cookbooks, more for the stories and the history than for the actual recipe. This book is very entertaining. I simply had to re-read the entire series again, to re-aquaint myself with the characters that contributed the recipies. I spent one entire day reading the cookbook. Have made two of the recipes so far.
The presentation of story then recipe is a terrific idea, the family photo album at the back of the book is wonderful.
To be honest, the review I read did not tell me if the Orange-Marmalade cake recipe was in the book or not. I bought it in the high hopes that it was. Very happy to read her story about that particular recipe. Great book for reading even if you do not bake or cook.
This makes Mitford come alive in a brand new way.
I'm writting a family history cookbook, her cookbook gave me some great presentation ideas. It never crossed my mind that I should include pictures of the food on family heriloom china.
MITFORD COOKBOOK - A DELIGHTFUL RECIPE.......2007-09-28
This cookbook is a wonderful addition to the other Mitford books by Jan Karon. With over 150 recipes taken from all of the books it brings back the charm and memories of the stories. The puns, and side bar remarks are precious and it is a delight to read and reread. The recipes are very good too. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It makes a great gift for Christmas.
Jan Karon's Mitford Cookbook and Kitchen Reader: Recipes from Mitford Cooks, Favorite Tales from Mitford Books (Mitford).......2007-09-24
Jan Karon's Mitford Coodbook and Kitchen Reader combines good cooking with a visit to the delightful "town" of Mitford. The book includes dishes by some of the best cooks in town and serves up a delicious compilation of recipies, feeding the body and warming the soul.
Mitford Cookbook.......2007-08-14
Orange Marmalade cake was awesome. It was a lot of work but my sister-in-law made it for my birthday and it was wonderful!!!
Jan Karon's Mitford Cookbook and Kitchen Reader.......2007-05-13
After reading several of the Mitford Books, this edition finalized the bond between me, the reader, and the characters who populated the pages. In reading the different volumes, the reader becomes aware of the place that food occupies in the daily lives of the characters. Many times I marveled at Karon's ability to incorporate the preparation of meals to the story line. I was often tempted to seek out the recipes mentioned in her stories. Now that I own the Cookbook I enjoy preparing and sharing some of the very dishes that are attributed to the wonderful characters filling the Mitford Books.

Is what it says, says what it is........2005-10-04
Just like the title for this review. No more, no less.
An excellent guide for all ages........2001-02-20
I am pleased to say that this excellent guide has brought much information about the incredibly popular Pokémon trading card game, and much knowledge about the Pokémon merchandise. Checkerbee Publishing has made a incredible value guide, considering that they included transalations for the Japanese poket monster trading card game, pictures of the cards, and such information is included in American Pokémon card game which is also featured in this book. Though this book has it's pros, it also has cons. No estimated prices are given about the American Fossil Cards, and few people are sure that the Japanese transalations are 100% accurate. Though, that should not stop you from buying this stupendous guide. I am very sure this will satisfy thous who are in need of Pokémon information.
Too Much MISPRINTS!.......2000-04-18
i bought this book because it looked cool. but i read some of it there was alot of misprints!
Really handy!.......2000-03-20
This book is a really good source if you want to know how much your pokemon cards are worth. This book has the values of rares, commons, and uncommons. And it even has the values of japanese cards. If you want to get a pokemon price guide, i suggest you buy this one.
Excellent.......2000-01-30
IF you can't under stand you japanies cards fear no more. This book tells you what it says.

Book Description
Dale Evans Rogers is one of the most beloved Christian women of our century. As the engaging movie star of countless westerns, she stole America's heart, and as the author of Angel Unaware and The Woman at the Well, she enriched millions of readers' lives with her spiritual perceptiveness. Now, in the wake of her recent stroke and her husband;s death, Dale shines once more, showing readers there is hope in the midst of affliction.
Dale recounts how God's grace enabled her to find hope on less than happy trails, such as her rocky rise to stardom, the tragic deaths of three of her children, and recently, her grueling rehabilitation from her stroke. She also pays tribute to Roy Rogers, with whom she shared almost fifty-one years of marriage. The book will be released on the anniversary of his death.
Each page of this heartening book shines with hope, grace, and joy. An eight-page color photo insert enhances its appeal.
