Book Description
Pedro Infante.

I totally disagree with the guy who named his review Great For All Ages!.......2007-02-19
Like my title says I totally disagree with the guy who named his review Great For All Ages! Beet is just plain boring. The plot is basicly just like BLEACH. only BLEACH is more exciting and more funny. All that main characters in Beet are doing is just slaying vandels/monsters and it gets so dull. And its not great for all ages. I was bored of it when I was 8 years old and right now Im 11. And if you think Im one of those people that only read the 1 st book, your wrong I read volumes 1-9. The only reason I gave Beet 2 stars is because the drawings looked cool.
Over all its a dull and boring sieries.
If you want a good manga to read try Naruto, or Mar. If you want a more video game related manga try Gamerz Heaven by Maki Murakami.
great for all ages!.......2005-09-29
beet the vandel buster is a great manga.its my 4th faviriot magna with zatch bell being my faviriot then et cetera then one piece.it has great pictures and a great plot.anyway i highly recomend this magna.
by whistle hateing manga loveing zatch bell fan
Amazon.com Needs to Look at the Cover.......2005-04-24
This is simply to say that Amazon.com needs to realize that Beet the Vandel Buster is by two people and that they do not need to list every other book by differant authors. The story is by Riku Sanjo but Koji Inada does the Artwork. LIST THEM TOGETHER!! Beet the Vandel Buster by Riko Sanjo AND Koji Inada.
Great addition to my manga collection.......2004-11-20
I highly recommend Beet The Vandel Buster. It's the first graphic novel I've read cover to cover. It's a mix of manga and a Rold Playing Game, both of which I love.
This is now my 4th favorite manga, the first three being Hikaru No Go, Naruto, and One Piece (all of which I recommend highly by the way).
This is definately worth the money. You won't be dissapointed if you like shonen manga (boys comics).
Book Description
Rescued From Paradise is the fourth of four sequels to the science fiction novel Rocheworld by Robert L. Forward (Baen Books, New York, 1990). The other sequels are: Return to Rocheworld, Ocean Under the Ice and Marooned on Eden. In Rescued From Paradise , the children of the human explorers marooned decades ago on the Earth-like moon, “Eden,” in the Barnard Star System, have to decide whether to stay on their idyllic birthplace with the friendly jelly-blob “flouwen” and the slow-moving tree-like “jollys”, or to return to compete in the fast-paced combined human/robot civilization of the Solar System.
Customer Reviews:
Well worth it........2004-12-30
One of the better ones in the series. Complete with births, deaths, tidal waves, lava flows, specs on 2 new spaceship designs, a new alien race, learning to communicate with said race, and dealing with rescue/replacement after a long enough time for your kids to have kids. We even get a couple of chapters from the flowen perspective and another couple from the new alien perspective. Sounds packed? It is, but it wraps it all up well with a look at how humans might start using a whole new solar system.

this just gets better, and Better, and BETTER!.......2007-06-19
At nearly 60 years old, and single all that time, I guess one could say "I never would have gotten this far if I couldn't cook!"
Well, that I CAN DO! I love to cook. Over the years I collected perhaps 125 cookbooks!?!? Guess what? I did not USE them! Over the years, I have kept paring down with each "move" (occasionally 'slipping' and picking up a new one here and there). I am now down to about 6 of my most favorite ones, and this one, "Good Housekeeping's Illustrated Cookbook" is the one that I reach for the most frequently. I have worn out two copies of it over the years, and I fully intend to always have a copy of it around until that "final" day!
This book just "begs" you to cook, to experiment, etc. Every recipe is aided by illustrations and clear instructions "as you go" to help you with everything you'd ever want to cook up in your kitchen at home. I have used dozens and dozens of cookbooks, and none of them have ever "aided" me as much as this wonderful kitchen helper.
Thanks, Good Housekeeping, you're the Best! ~operabruin
Not that simple stupid!!.......2007-04-02
I've had this book since college. It was the required book for my cooking class. And years later I have collected many other cookbooks, but I always find myself going back to Good Housekeeping. And the main reason is... new books appear to rely on the concept of "KISS - Keeping It Simple Stupid." But if your purpose is to create a memory of home cooking, keeping it simple just doesn't cut it. The other day I was searching recipes for cheesecakes. The Good Housekeeping had about 4 more ingredients than others provided. And I feel the reason is we're so stuck on shortcuts. If you want to "wow" people... simplicity wont' do it.
Great Basic Cookbook.......2007-01-27
This is a terrific cookbook for both the beginner and more experienced cook. There is a photo of every recipe and beautilful illustrations throughout the book. Some of my family's favorite recipes have come from this book and Good Housekeeping is a name you can always count on for quality.
Disappointed.......2007-01-11
Many years ago I received a Good Housekeeping Cookbook as a gift. It was practically my bible for cooking. In the interim I lost it, so decided to get a new Good Housekeeping book. Big Mistake! Very few recipes, and the ones in the book were uninteresting.
Worst cookbook in my kitchen.......2006-12-07
I've had this cookbook for years. I don't turn to it. I don't trust it. This cookbook has no credibility. At best, the recipes are pretty bland and boring. But usually, they're fatally flawed.
This book is not for someone who wants to learn how to cook. It's got all the sections you'd hope to see... some on equipment, some on technique. But those sections are sparse. They'll show you a bunch of knives, but not tell you what knives work well in what situations, or what knives you need. The cookbook has pictures of every dish, but the pictures are low quality and have bad color so you can't really trust the pictures.
But it's the recipes that are the real downfall. It talks about bullion cubes or cooking wine without explaining that they are convenient, but not good when you have time and want flavor. It gives that standard cooking temps for food, but doesn't mention you need to pull the food off the heat early or the food will be overcooked until the very end of the book in the microwave section. Recipes will say "cook until done" without ever explaining how you should be checking how fried eggs, for example, are cooking.
With this cookbook, you won't learn the best ways to cook eggs. You won't learn what "divan" means, even though there are a bunch of recipes divan here. It'll show you what different herbs and spices look like, but won't do well at helping you learn what goes well when. If you make all the recipes, take notes, and remember what didn't work, you'll learn a lot, but you'll have alot of poor recipes in the process.
Cookwise will teach you more about the fundamentals of cooking. William's Sonoma books have better pictures and better recipes. The Cook's Bible and Cook's Illustrated will teach you more about recipe variations and how to find recipes which work reliably. Saveur will give you better traditional food from across the globe.
This book will help you prop up a chair with a short leg. Beyond that, it's not worth much.

Dissappointing.......2001-01-02
It could have been better. How about just categorizing one particular part on each book on the series, instead of having a little of this and a little of that?
Many pictures, regrettably not so much information........2000-06-16
This is agueably one of the best books in the collectors series. It does a very good job without being overly large and heavy. I would like to see more information on each item but agree with the author's decision to put in a lot of pictures in preference to a lot of words. Information can be found elsewhere and these pictures are great and will put the reader on the right track.

I cannot say enough good things about any of these reference books. My husband and I have learned so much from this material. I will not even purchase a piece until I find it in one of Gene's books. The pictures are beautiful and each piece has an updated value from 1999. What more could and OJ collector want. I would recommend this to anyone who is a serious collector of Occupied Japan. Book Description
Some of these poems were written after Don Blanding had left the islands and express he homesickness he felt when, for example, he passed a florist shop in New York and caught the fragrance of island flowers. No one has ever had such skill in using words to paint glorious pictures of Hawaii. More than 40 years after Blanding's death, he still has a following of devoted readers and fans of his unique style of graphic artwork. Over his lifetime he authored 21 books, most of which remain out of print.
Customer Reviews:
Don Blanding's second book, a masterpiece.......2003-11-06
This book was first printed in 1925 by Patten Books in Honolulu. It is a fabulous collection of poems devoted to Hawaii as seen through the eyes of a visitor. Even non-poetry readers will enjoy the simply written verse which evokes a time and place which some think is lost forever. The author also illustrated this book with wonderful black & white drawings. To find out more about Don Blanding, visit www.don-blanding.com
Book Description
In September 1937, three years before his death, Marcus Garvey assembled a small group of his most trusted organizers. For almost a quarter of a century he had led the Universal Negro Improvement Association, at its peak the largest international mass movement in the history of African peoples. Now he wanted to pass on the lessons he had learned, to the group best suited to carry the struggle forward. For one month he instructed this elite student body, twevle hours a day, seven days a week. The sessions were secret and much of the instruction was not written down. The students did, however receive written copies of twenty-two lessons, which Garvey called the Course of African Philosophy. This fascinating distillation of a great leader's experience is published here for the first time.
Customer Reviews:
A must read!.......2007-05-18
This is a great book. The message that Marcus Garvey brought is clearly conveyed in this nice little book. The focus seems to be the upliftment and education of African Americans, but the philosophy of his teaching is essential for anyone searching for truth. the book is divided into 22 short chapters. All of them are great, but my favorites are Education and Christ.
This is essential reading for anyone interested in African Philosophy or self liberation and education.
The Negro Bible.......2005-12-23
Every black in America should possess this book. Get it, read it, and read it again! Thank God for Marcus Garvey.....
The Measure of Excellence.......2003-10-26
In this book, Marcus Garvey reveals the secrets of discipline, kindness, and committment that made him the most influential leader of African Descent during the 20th century. This book is a testament to the man's generosity of spirit; personally, following the advice given in this book has made me a better man. I enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who aspires to achieve extraordinary accomplishment.
