To label this an erotic novel is both accurate and misleading. The eroticism is fresh, lyrical and sometimes startling (or disturbing), but when all is said and done, what resonates more is the author's nuanced and probing portrait of the main character and the sublime-to-ridiculous adumbrations of a man's inner life.

The back cover describes Arch of Desire as a "delectable novel." Delectable is the best way to describe this novel! The Arch of Desire is a fictional account of the life of French artist Pierre Molinier and his uninhibited and taboo erotic exploits. What begins as an eleven-year-old boy who's curious about his mother's lingerie develops into a lifetime of forbidden desires such as incest, fetishes and uncontrollable urges.
Pierre's paintings have always intrigued me -- and Puelles has crafted a wonderful piece of erotica that is both historical and literary. This wonderful novel is one of the reasons why I love reading this obscure genre. Puelle's words enthralled me. His is a voice that drips with sensual prose. I cannot wait to read more from this gifted Spaniard author.

Kern is a born leader, and the members of his "pack" recongnize the fact. He leads a motley crew of killers, men, women, Cimmerian and Aquilonian and Shemite, even a wild dire wolf named Frostpaw. They follow and Kern leads like the alpha wolf he has proven to be. These are the people of Cimmeria, the people of Conan.
Book 2 is even stronger than the first, and promises more views into the strange, white-haired giant-kin called "Ymirish," or Sons of Ymir, a fierce God of the north.
An improvement on an already good series.......2005-08-02
Kudos to Colman who took this series to another level with his second installment. Lots of action, an intriguing plot, and best of all more character development, Coleman successfully creates and carries the story through the second installment; a position that can often times be the weakest portion of a trilogy.

Book # 2, Cimmerian Rage, of Loren L. Coleman's Legends of Kern trilogy was good, but not as great as it should have been.
Even though this is in the age of Conan, it more feels like reading about warring tribes of Stone Age men. Just with a sprinkle of fantasy thrown in it.
And that's not a bad thing. This book, more so than the first, remined me strongly of William Sarabande's First American series. One of my favorites.
The weakness of this book is the same old warring factions. After a while, I really wanted new locales and new things to happen. And it did...somewhat. It got more interesting when Kern and Daol ran into the Galla spider people. And also when Kern starts recieving his Yirmish Call.
There are some good fighting sequences, but more dull ones in this one. The writing itself seems a bit more odd and hard to fathom and/or follow at times.
I'm not one to ruin the plot, so suffice it to say - read it just to find out where this goes, if you enjoyed the 1st one like me. But don't expect too much in this one. Pretty much same ol', same 'ol.
I just purchased the last and third installment. I hope for bigger and better things in Songs of Victory.

One of my favorite cookbooks!.......2007-05-13
I am a woman with many cookbooks, but I find myself only using 2 consistantly and this is one of them! We love all of the muffin recipes, and as a busy mom, its great to have something easy and healthy for the kids. The ingredients are readily found at your local health food or whole foods store. Besides being a good cookbook, it is a fun book to read with some good information.

Iliked this book. It gave alot of helpful, healthy info. I just wish that it had listed the fiber amount for each recipe. Makes Weight Watcher point counting easier.
Good effort, could have been better........2006-04-18
The good:
This book has some interesting and different recipes, and some useful nutritional information.
The bad:
I do not buy cookbooks expecting to see a lengthy discussion about fluoride, pro or con (in the author's case, con).
The book is written in a style that is chatty at best, annoying and contradictory in places at worst (where she writes about anise and tofu, for example).
There is a lot of "filler", mostly in the quotes from people at the bottom of many of the recipe pages, as well as superfluous commentary from the author above and even within some recipes. Also, several recipes could have been printed two-to-a-page, they were that short, so there is a lot of empty space in this book. The longer recipes were short on clear instructions, and while they contained some nutritional information, no information on fiber was included, which is too bad because several recipes were touted as being full of fiber.
Bottom line:
This book is better than her other books (such as Saving Dinner), but check it out of the library first. I hope the author revises this book to correct some of the errors and adds more recipes for the price.

Review of Bulldogs For Dummies - 2007.......2007-03-15
I thought the book was just "okay." I was disapointed because it didnt seem to be specifically written about the English Bulldog breed - many comments were just general helpful hints on how to train dogs, etc with just a few known bulldog specific comments like how the breed is prone to overheat. I dont even think the writer, Susan Ewing has owned or does own an english bulldog - her credits read other breeds of dogs she has owned and english bulldog was not listed. I'd get another book or do research online. I've read several bulldog books and still found the best stuff on breeders' websites. Good luck!

I liked this book. It was easy to read and I went thru it quickly. I bought several bulldog books and although this wasn't my favorite one I did like the info in it. The dummy line of books are pretty good and this one is too.

Grossly Disappointed.......2004-07-23
I find it quite amazing that the author included the words "Price Guide" when titling her book. What might be more applicable are the words "Mini-Bio's of Native American Artisans" since that's primarily what this book is. If I had wanted to learn birth/death dates or more about the formal educations of these individuals, I have a local library that I could have visited gratis. I WANTED a PRICE GUIDE reference book as the title implied it to be, and this book sorely missed the mark. It was a waste of both money and time.

I just received this book. To my astonishment I found out that this book has more about the artists then PRICES! To give you some specifics in the Art Section there are 259 artisits listed with only 41 artists with prices. I would not call this a PRICE GUIDE. The rest of the book has even less prices listed...

Nice design for Crochet but not Knit.......2007-07-13
I finally can see this book in local bookstore. The design for crochet are challanging but not for knit. I think mostly are for crochet.I think lion brand should separate crochet books from knit ones. My free bag patterns finding from internet even more creative than this book.
in my opinion, this book is definitely for crocheter...not for knitter...I expect this book to be excellent but this book is a little bit average (for knit) for me...
anyway, may be the colors are good but i think colors can be modified...the design that is a little bit disappointed...
Well worth the price.......2006-11-13
This one did not disappoint! There are so many bags I want to make here as gifts or for myself. I've made a couple of them so far and they have both been claimed by my teenage daughter and my son's girlfriend. There's enough variety here that I think anyone could find at least two or three they would like to make.
Some really great projects in this book for both knit and crochet.......2006-06-10
Lion Brands presents a set of patterns for all kinds of bags, from evening bags to totes. Knitting bags right now is kind of in vogue--you can release your creativity on a bag and do all kinds of trimmings you would not do on a sweater.
The best bags, in my opinion, in this book are the crochet models. There is a venus-on-the-half-shell evening bag, a half-moon shaped clutch that is very elegant. I'd add some beads to it, myself, but as-is, it's gorgeous. It's lined, too.
Another crocheted model "Get a handle on it" is a very nice purse, sort of a doctor's satchel.
A furry knit bag caught my eye, as well as a log-cabin knit tote. There is a chapter on felting, with a loopy white bag that is elegant, and a doggy tote for you Yorkie, Maltese or Chihuahua owners.
Not all the bags were nice, but who cares! So many here were excellent. You can find Lion Brand yarns all over, so this book is very useful. I'd recommend this book highly for parents and daughters and sons for summer projects (don't sniff at boys knitting; my grandpa was a sailor on a Swedish ship and he made all kinds of bags out of cord--handcrafts were considered very traditional and manly and I don't see why that should be any different now.)
This is a terrific little book, a great value, and I love the cover because the extended flaps let you mark your place in the book. Highly recommended.
