An Abstract Word Picture of History.......1999-09-15
Just as one may view an abstract painting, this book is a word abstract of history of a beautiful city. Germain takes her readers on a tour of the city, but it is more than a tour of place but a tour of class, status and the sorrow of the people. Each location is representative of a class of person and the suffering which they have endured.
As one born in Prague, it resinated in a very personal way. Germain gives the opportunity for all to experience Prague in a special way.
A wonderful book of prose, and reflection. A must read for those who wish to explore life.
Weeping Woman is a haunting book.......1997-12-18
This book reads like an extended prose poem - very lyrical and beautiful, at times surreal, and not plot-driven. The weeping woman is the ethereal embodiment of the sorrows of Prague, haunted by its past. I can recommend it for those who like poetry and atmospheric, mysterious subject-matter. The language can be convoluted at times, but give it a try.

Wizards of the Coast Pulp.......2007-03-07
This is more fantasy pulp from Wizards of the Coast. It's an ok trilogy but should have been shortened to two books. There's too much catch and release going on in the first two books (you'll have to read it to know what I am refering to). I really liked the ending, though. Overall, there's better stuff in the pantheon of Wizards of the Coast novels. The characters are very simplistic (except for the one that makes the ending cool). If you like fantasy pulp, read volume 1 and read volume 3 - you really won't miss anything important by skipping volume 2. Overall, an ok trilogy from Wizards of the Coast.
Excellent conclusion to a great trilogy.......2007-01-17
I enjoyed the first two books in this trilogy immensely and Queen of Death was a terrific ending to the series. It brings closure to the central issue of the trilogy but leaves just a bit of a question open. Plus there are several easy story arcs left open at the end of the story for future books.
This series served as a really good introduction (and tease) to the Eberron setting. It covered several different cultures, countries, races, and areas of world enough to make me interested but not so much that it detracted from the storyline. I really like Forbeck's writing style, so much so that I finished the entire trilogy in less than a week. He has a knack for creating suspense and memorable characters. I feel like I could read a series focusing on any of the main characters from this trilogy.
If you already like the Eberron setting, read this series. If you want an introduction, I highly recommend this trilogy. And if you like other Wizards of the Coast settings, give this one a try.
Solid conclusion to this trilogy.......2006-10-17
Queen of Death by Matt Forbeck is the final book in The Lost Mark Trilogy. The first book in this trilogy is Marked for Death and the second book is titled The Road to Death. This trilogy is set in the new world of Eberron. I would certainly stress reading the first two books in this trilogy before reading this one. Other wise you will become quickly lost with the plots lines and some things that occur. With that said on to my review.
While the second book had an extraordinary mix of character development with a very good plot, this book lacks just a little in the plot department. Part of that reason is there is a great deal of character development that occurs in this book. This character development has a price of lessening the plot just a little bit. That des not mean the plot is a bad one, it just means the plot feels a little rushed in terms of the past book and the good balance it held. This plot covers the same characters as the first two books and their journey to make sure Espre will be ok and just what the Dragonmark is that she wields. Saying more would give spoilers and I would rather not do that. If you enjoyed the plots of the first two books you will enjoy this one as well.
The character development in this book is fantastic. There is such a wide array of characters and each one grows and develops in some way. Mr. Forbeck could have easily ignored the Warforged character, but he chose to develop him at times as well. This wide array of characters and motivations lends itself well to the reader becoming interested in at least one character, if not more. There is certainly a character in this book for everyone. There is the covert character with her own motivations, there is a noble character looking out for the interests of his daughter, and there is also the loyal character that tries everything to help his friend succeed. Of course there are many more, but those are three of the main ones. Each character has its own `voice' in the story and Mr. Forbeck's understanding of the various voices allows the characters to lead the story and the story never feels contrived or forced. It flows very well.
What book would be complete without a good twist at the end. This book certainly has that. I honestly didn't see this twist coming, but once I finished I can see how it was there. A good author can hide those twists and Mr. Forbeck hid this one rather well.
Overall, this was an enjoyable book and a decent end to the trilogy. It was a little too open ended for my liking, but it makes sense for the story. Throughout this trilogy I can see how Mr. Forbeck really grew as a writer, it was a pleasure to read.
If you are an Eberron fan you will most certainly enjoy this book. If you are looking at starting to read in the Eberron world, this is a pretty good trilogy to start as it does give some history without being overwhelming. This trilogy is a solid addition to the Eberron world.
Solid conclusion to this trilogy

Exciting at end.......2000-01-11
As I read this book I noticed that I couldn't get some of the beginning of the book without reading the first 2 books of its series, but this may be the reason that this book was boring in the beginning. The beginning is boring because it is just talking about how Gallen, Maggie, Orick, and Tallea land on the planet ruin and get picked up by King Felphs who is the King of the planet and they just get introduced to other people and learn about things that happened in the past and a lot of other things. But as you progress through the book it gets fun and exciting because of what happens through the Tangles and how certain actions at the end happens. So overall I would say this was a pretty good book and I would recommend this book to all readers, but especially patient ones.
The Ending was a little weird.........1998-05-29
A wonderful book, great to end the trilogy, very creative. I loved the concept of the cloning and the waters of strength. Excellent descriptionsduring Gallen and Maggie getting slaughtered by the Dronon. I like how they go back to Tremonthin and settle down for a normal life. The very end is a little weird, I mean, I understand the waters of strength, but, Gallen dieing becuase of a tree? After all that?? To me, that caused it to lose the perfect score.
Superbly written, a true masterpiece........1998-01-29
Dave Wolverton has done it again. Following in the tradition of the two earlier books in this series (The Golden Queen, Beyond the Gate), Wolverton is able to write one heck of a story. I suspect this trilogy is destined for superstardom in the annals of science fiction. The characters are well formed and consistent, with surprise after surprise leading you on to the incredible ending. A must read for any science fiction reader. It is the gifted writing of authors like Wolverton that has ressurected science fiction as a true art form.

Recipes Easy to Follow.......2007-03-13
I have used three recipes from the book already. They are simple and there are tips for every recipe so you can make changes if you desire. There are serving suggestions and many colored pictures of the finished product. I will be using this recipe book for many years.
I love the hardcover with the spiral pages.
Slow cooker.......2007-01-10
What can be more help in the kitchen but a slow cooker- it does all the work while you do other things - this is great.
Once again, not impressed..........2006-02-11
This book had many of the same recipes as the first Betty Crocker Slow Cooker cookbook--even the same pictures! The recipes are OK, but many are dull and made with prepackaged items. I'd rather know what's in my food, thank you. Not impressed. The new Southern Living Slow Cooker cookbook was a million times better.
Fantasic Crockery Cooking.......2005-08-19
I have to admit that my crock pot is a lifesaver, when you can start dinner in the morning and have it done with no problem by 6:30 p.m., how can you go wrong? But I had a problem finding new recipies that are family friendly. I have no problem making beef stew, chili, corned beef, you know the usual slow cooker fare. But that gets old.
That is when I picked up Betty Crocker's More Slow Cooker Recipies, and I am very happy I did. Not only do they have new recipies but old recipies with a new spin. And my favorite feature of this book, are all new recipies you can make from the leftovers, you make in your crock pot. It also has all the nutritional info, recommended side dishes, and serving suggestions on each page.
Some of the best recipies in this book include, Smokey Bacon & Gruyere Dip, Fisherman's Warf Seafood Stew, Hunter's Style Pork Roast and many more! If you love to cook with a crock pot and are looking for some great new dishes, give this book a try.

A cute book for new dog owners.......2006-01-31
Since I have been a dog owner for over 15 years and since I am an avid reader regarding the behavior of dogs I found this book to be cute but simplistic. The pages are glossy and full of darling pictures to accompany each section. The writing seems to be directed at someone quite a bit younger than I. This actually feels more like a fancy dog magazine BUT if you are new to the subject you will find some inspiration inside and will learn useful information about dog behavior. This would be an excellent book to share with children as a learning aid for their new pet.
Sometimes The Dog Doesn't Even Know Why!.......2000-10-08
This book is so fun! I totally enjoyed reading about the antics of our funny little buddies and some reasoning for their entertaining and sometimes enraging behaviors. Great ideas for positive ways to deal with behaviors that need to be changed and thought provoking ideas about behaviors we may consider okay but just wonder why in the world they do that. This is a very humanistic, uplifting, and optimistic author. I just can't tell you how very much I enjoyed it. My angel even took a sneek peek at what I was reading, and gave both paws up for this one! You'll love it!
The best dog book ever!.......2000-09-14
I have read many books on dogs, but this book really explains some of the mysteries of their behavior with suggestions for how to improve each situation. I highly recommend it and I am buying copies for all my friends that need help with their little troublemakers.

Customer Reviews:
Too confusing!.......2007-05-25
Very confusing book starting with a short presentation of Corgi. Then comes many pages listing short notes about models, these are listed partially by vehicles number but not always chronological, totally confusing and frustrating. No listing of variants, so you would not be helped if you need information about this. (Which is a popular subject among collectors.) Then comes a picture section, that does not match the listing, and also very short description under the pictures. I have used hours to work my way through this booklet just because of this weird non matching listing. In the end, it starts listing up cars again, this section should have been together with the first one and not been split up by the picture section. The pictures was too small and did not show good enough details of details, decals and stickers, as I would expect from a book specializing on Corgi. I cannot recommend this book to anyone, and I regret I bought it.
A reasonable guide to add to your collectin........2006-02-22
First,The good news:this is a good quality book, printed on high quality glossy paper.Great colour photos of some Corgi toys.Plenty of reference material. The bad news:not an idea book if you are looking for a book showing photos of all the models.Overall,a reasonable book though. Its worth adding to your diecast book collection.
Corgi book.......2006-02-22
Great pictures, good descriptions,BUT...no numerical or alphabetical order.Makes it hard to pinpoint a specific vehicle.

An extraordinary look at an Indian orphanage in the 50's........1999-11-09
As wards of the state of Oklahoma, Linda Lakoe (Okee-Chee) and her sister Jackie arrive at the predominately indian Murrow orphanage. As Apaches, they are met with suspicion, fear, and aggression from the other children. Linda struggles to become respected by the others, while Jackie, the younger of the two focuses on finding the adoptive family she has never known.
The book depicts their year together at the orphanage, and the challenges that they endure as orphans, and as sisters with different goals. Linda finds comfort and meaning as an aspiring artist, while her younger sister can only find such comfort with the prospect of having a mother.
This is one of the most tear-jerking, thought provoking books I have read in recent years. It depicts a journey of self realization and discovery. Linda's self discovery, brought on by her prospective adoptive mother, is thrilling and uplifting - provoking anyone who reads it to believe that no matter what, there is always a mother figure in life who can make right, teach, nurture and provide a basis to understand one's own culture.
The entire book consists of chapters that begin with dream like narrations - An excellent method of recalling what should be, and probably are shady memories of a past that is understandably blurry.
Still, this is one of the best books I've read so far... I would highly recommend it to anyone - especially those who have interest in learning about native american identity in the 20th century.
Brings back the insighful imagination of a child...........1999-11-07
This book helped bring back my inner child and rediscover the relationship I had with the earth as a child. Remarkable insight was present in the author when she described her past.
