I LOVE reading about Stephanie Plum and her hilarious mysteries. She is a bounty hunter, of all things. She finds herself in the most bizarre situations. I can hardly wait to order the next set of books because they are so well written and FUNNY! There have been times when I have been reading along and have laughed right out loud. Did I say in the doctor's office, beauty shop, dentist's office, at home? Her books are also very intriguing as mysteries. Her 2 love interests add an additional element of intrigue to this series. The other characters in her books are very well done. Her family is quite a family, especially Grandma. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mysteries and loves to laugh. I hope she stays just ahead of me in writing. I can't wait to read the next book!!!

Get the great series by Janet Evanovich! If you never lived in "Jersey", you will wonder. If you have, you will laugh! Characters are real, situations vary from insane to insanely weird (how about a car that ends up 12 inches thick?) but all the way through, you keep thinking, "Could I do that? Have I done that?"

A girlfriend gave me the third in the Stephanie Plum series. I"m a locomotive engineer and I'm sure my conductors got tired of my laughing out loud when we were stopped for a period of time, and trying to read them the paragraphs that cracked me up.
I had to get the first in the series and have now read the thirteenth along with all Janet Evanovich's other books written earlier or co-written with friends.
Before she passed away, my mom, my sister and I would sit and recount our favorite passages and a recent girlfriend's daughter asked who Stephanie should end up with. Small world.
Want a good mystery with exploding cars and tons of laughs?
I double-dog dare you to buy the first three.
I love that they can be purchased in box sets of three because you'll want to move from one to the next as soon as you've finished it.

I started with #12 after finding out in an airport that my flight was delayed. Little did I know what I was in for! Other passengers became more and more irritated as the length of our wait increased. I found myself laughing out loud, just amazed at a new Lucille Ball. It was the best airport experience I have ever had. What fun these books all are. Laughter is indeed the best medicine...

I guess one would call these books "beach books" but after one I threw in the towel. The author is witty and does have odd characters and I believe is quite popular, but this writer is not for me.

I actually started this series with Hot Six. I don't know why. I really wasn't expecting much. But it was great, so I bought the box set of the first three books in the series and read them in about 3 days. The Stephanie Plum mysteries are just so funny--I find myself laughing out loud all the time. A quick and pleasant read and the characters Evanovich creates are just fabulous--there is Stephanie herself of course, and Rex, her pet hamster; Joe Morelli and Ranger, her competing love/lust interests; Grandma Mazur; and of course, Lulu. If you like detective/sleuth novels and like Kinsey Millhone, you will love these books.

Precursor to Oblivion?.......1998-02-02

Probably not, but by the ending of this book you would think it is. The story continued from 'Stranger Souls' is great, and includes something not found in most of the Shadowrun novels; soul-searching. Almost all of the main characters must undergo some type of search for their true feelings, and the Aztlaner burnout-mage Oscuro is using faces a crucial conflict in herself that is unseen in any other Shadowrun novel. The action scenes are still intense, especially the conflict between Ryan and Burnout in Dunkelzahn's Georgetown mansion. The cameo by Damien Knight is a nice touch, and explains some event revealed back in 'Portfolio of a Dragon'. The character is one of the most interesting in the two books. The ending of the book is a cliffhanger, but it sets up for what looks to be an incredible conclusion.

Nice surprise.......2006-07-12

This book turned out to be a lot better, and funnier, than I expected. A giant telepathic alien cabbage worm (dunno what the artist who did the cover with the earthworm on it was thinking) crashes to Earth. It just so happens that it is the future and humans have become comically conservative to the extreme. After a little alien preaching/influence the main chars end up in outer space aboard a cargo/cruise ship and in the clutches of space pirates. Its a brisk fast-paced amusing read and its length of 191 pgs. suits it perfectly.

Great Book for Preserving Food!.......2007-08-31

I just bought this book today, and made the tomato sauce freezer recipe with all of the tomatoes from my garden. Let me tell you, the tomato sauce is so delicious, it could pass for a yummy tomato soup. There are other many delicious-sounding recipes in this book that I am eager to try, and I know I will definitely get my money's worth from it.

I love that the author is just as concerned as I am with what goes into her food. Too many commercially canned foods are loaded with tons of sodium, high fructose corn syrup, and other unpronouncable ingredients. If you are health-conscious and want to serve your family only the best, high-quality preserved food, this book is for you.

Also, I do not agree with the author in not doubling the recipes. Some of the recipes are so small, and there is no way I will not double them to save time. I have made very large batches of jams and jellies for years without any problems, and cannot understand why the author would state not to do so. I also don't agree with the author in not changing the ratio of sugar in the jams and jellies recipes. Most recipes for jams and jellies contain way too much sugar, and I have had no problems halving the sugars in my jams and jellies as long as I have enough fruit pectin added to compensate. If you don't mind tons of sugar in your jams and jellies, then this shouldn't be a concern.

Overall, this book is excellent, and is one of the best canning and preserving sources I have read. I believe beginners as well as advanced canners would find this book very helpful, if not, at least the delicious recipes will be a great addition!

"The Big Book of Preserving the Harvest" is a refreshingly concise how-to for beginners and experts alike. Great illustrations for the directionally-challenged, lots of useful charts. Those include charts for processing times in water bath AND pressure cookers, quantities of produce needed per quart jar, sugar substitutes, etc. Then, there are the simple recipes for fancy foods. This book is a great leasure read or a satisfying quick reference tool, surely a wonderful gift for anyone who enjoys working with food.

This is a good book for the beginner with a lot of fine details. I have enjoyed reading the book and using a couple of the receipes but I find it a very close copy of the Ball Bluebook of Home Canning, etc. In fact, many of the receipes are quoted from the Blue Book. It is one I will use many times again though.

I love the fact that this book covers canning (pressure and water bath) drying, and root cellaring all in equal detail. I have been searching for a good jerky marinade for about 6 months now with many flops inbetween. This book delivers. I LOVE the marinade for beef jerky in it. I have also made the peach jam, very tasty. It was interesting to read about creating a root cellar, and got me thinking into how I can incorporate that method of preservation into my lifestyle. Very good book!

Rottweiler Mix .......2006-05-31

I recommend this book for all rottweiler (and or mix breed) dog owners. The history of the breed will give you a good understanding of the dogs nature. It is quite interesting. The training hints and tips are very helpful. I injoyed reading and following the tips in the margins of the pages. Training will only inhance the dogs loyalty and companionship.

This book is well written and contains more than enough information for beginners and most advanced dog owners. If you are considering getting a Rottweiler and want to know what to expect, get this book. If you already own a Rottweiler, this book has excellent tips and hints on the care and well-being of your dog. Thank you to Richard G. Beauchamp for an excellent book.

I have a small number of dog books, and this is the most fun one to read! Sure, I totally reccomend it to anyone who owns or is interested in getting a rottie. They are great dogs with wonderful personalities if given the proper environment to grow up in. This book helps you to do that for them, so it is a plus for you and your dog. Easy and fun, that is the best way to learn.

A "Must Have" Rottie Reference!.......2003-06-17

I must say that I stumbled upon this book ... about a month and a half ago. A thorough examination of the book provided me with an absolutely great read. Unfortunately, It does not cover every aspect of raising the breed in great detail. However, if you are just beginning research on Rottweilers, reading this book will give you a VERY SOLID FOUNDATION to support your future reading. Your understanding of breed characteristics, history, specific training methods, and even terminology will increase by leaps and bounds. For prospective Rottie owners, this book is a "must have!"

A Wonderful Rottweiler Reference.......2002-06-15

I just got a seven week old Rottweiler puppy and I needed a reference to help me learn about the breed and to learn basic information to teach the dog certain rituals. I found this book and it is a true gem. This book will teach you about the breed, whether or not the dog is right for you, and a plethora of other useful information about the dog. Rottweilers are actually one of the most loving breeds of dog that there is and one part of the book will help people to realize that these dog are great dogs that are good with children and people if they are treated and taught well from the first day that you bring your dog home.

This superlative reference is broken up into is broken up into four parts with numerous chapters that fall under that specific topic. The main things that are discussed in this great book are getting to know Rottweilers, where you find out about the dog and whether or not the dog is right for you; the next part is called searching for a soulmate where you get information on knowing what you are looking for in the dog and how to choose what to get; part three of the book discusses how you can keep your Rottweiler in good health by learning about the dog's basic anatomy, feeding and exercise rituals, and health problems; the final part lists ten reasons to own or not to own a Rottweiler, and training and traveling tips. This is a handy reference because of the multitude of topics that are discussed in this book.

I detracted one star from the book because I felt that the training information in the book was not specific and that I didn't get a great deal of information regarding my dog's habits for doing bathroom rituals. I didn't get a lot of information as to how many times a day I should take my dog out and how often my dog should be fed. Because of this I recommend another book in the "Dummies" series on training dogs.

As with all "Dummies" books the information that is found here is concise and to the point, written in an easy-to-read manner. I recommend this great reference to anybody that is looking for information on the Rottweiler breed of dogs. These dogs are one of the most loving creatures to walk the planet but this book is very neccesary. If you do not read this book you may be letting your dog do things that may result in long term problems, behavioral or physical. I will be sure to use this book in the future to take care of my Rottweiler. This is a great reference that is worth buying.

Pattern making book only.......2006-04-30

This book is a pattern making book. I think it is wonderful because the patterns are drafted straight from on the body measurements. I have been frustrated with other pattern making books that assume that you have blockers in every size. This book starts from a rectangle and creates the patterns from there. If you want to create a custom sized jacket pattern, I recommend this book.

A Tailor's Style Book.......2005-09-20

Despite the title, this book is principally a tailor's style book, with minimal text, no construction detail, and no discussion of style and/or fashion. As a style book, the text covers a wide range of men's pants and jackets, with many variations on lapel and collar styles. If you are looking for a style book, this is one of the very few available outside the tailoring trade.

However, if you are not looking for page after page of diagrams whose accompanying text reads "A from B inseam less 2"; C from D 5 3/4"; Connect A and C with hip curve ruler; etc", then you will not be happy with this book.

I would recommend Jane Rhinehart's "How to Make Men's Clothes" (sadly three decades out of print, but still available used) for instructions on how to interpret a tailor's style book, along with LOTS of instruction on how to construct a traditionally structured men's suit coat. As an alternative, Robert Cabrera's "Classical Tailoring Techniques" has lots of construction detail, but I think Rhinehart's book actually covers more territory in a manner easier for the novice or self-learner to follow. In particular, Rhinehart spends more time explaining the specialized terminology and materials used in a structured coat. E.g., wigan, hymo, and other materials not used in general sewing.

I took this with me on vacation, after earlier reading "La Frontera", and I believe the two should be read together. Gloria is the anti-white guy writer, no, not that she is anti-white guy, but that she is barely hanging on the fringes of American mainstream society. In a class I took, some of the Caucausian men thought that Gloria should "get over" her angst and anger. I say, I think she has only begun. I'd like to see her write some fairy tales, since she has so much--I think it's called "magic realism"--in her poetry in La Frontera. Con su estilo contestatario y frentero de siempre, Oriana Fallaci se despide de un mundo que para ella sucumbe en el absurdo religioso musulman, la codicia de politicos irresponsables y la total indiferencia de la gente del comun por temer a ser politicamente incorrectos. A veces un tanto radical y amarga, este libro no deja de ser un epilogo digno de un a mujer que fue una solitaria en todas sus luchas.

We learned of how they were won to the revolution, and of struggles of Cuban soldiers from the Bay of Pigs, to Bolivia, from America to Vietnam, and in Cuba itself. I enjoyed reading the book, and then watching the movie. I think it would have been great if the director of the movie would have included the whole book in the movie. I just wish they make Vampire lestad, and then the whole chronicles.

I love Interview with the vampire, actually its my favorite movie, i have seen it so many times that i can say each line by heart, and from my heart too. People often make me feel as if i were crazy. I say it is just because they will never feel the way i do about it. It entered to my heart and kept in my soul.
