Her vivid descriptions of the sensory appeal of knitting is wonderful! It was a good, light read that nicely tied into my newfound love of knitting. I will buy more in this series!

Another great book in the series........2002-07-18
Yet another great one by Dickson. Read this and enjoy!
How long can you "dragon" this out?.......2002-04-29
The first book I read in this series was the Dragon Knight and I loved it. I found out that there were several in the series. I bought all of them. I am not sure how many senerios Dickson can come up with. This is the thrid that I have read. This one wasn't bad although. Sir Jim and Angie, along with Brian and his true love go to a 12 day Christmas get together. Any one who is anybody is there. The biggest problem, although not the only one is that there is a 1800 year old Troll, who doesn't appear ready for retirement in Miami yet, who is shaking down the castle from his layer in the basement.
Now it wouldn't be worth our noble knight's effort to don his armor or change into his dragon shape for just one troll. Dickson throws in a lot of trolls, a whole bunch of other dragons who want to be part of the Christmas period and several other problems for our hero to solve.
The one thing that I did like about this book was the fact he allows Angie to become an important part of the story instead of the shadowy figure she has been before. Also Sir Jim gets to use some very interesting magic through the story. There is a nice twist towards the final chapters of the book, but the ending is a bit corney. WAIT! - flying dragons, talking wolfs, hob goblins, 1800 year old trolls? Maybe the end fits.
If you like the Dragon Knight series you'll enjoy this book. But I'm not sure how many more things Dickson can put our hero into before it becomes more boring then soaring.
Well known characters in all new situations.......2002-03-03
Once again Jim Eckert, AKA the Dragon Knight has to face the dark powers. One should think this might become boring by now but Dickson made up a great scenery with lots of fascinating characters. Not only has James to deal with an army of trolls who intend to change history itself, but also with a great number of problems on the Earls christmas-party. Needless to say that the way he solves medevial trouble with 20th century skills is both surprising and unusual. To let a troll, disguised as a black knight, join the tounament to smell out a disguised troll among the guests was surely extraordinary. I also enjoyed to find characters like Angie, his charming but strong-willed wife, play more important roles than in earlier books.
Everyone who liked The Dragon At War will surely love this book, because it gives more insight on already well known characters and adds a lot of new ones who aren't less interesting.
It's not the best in the Dragon Series.......2001-06-18
But each one furthers a response or a helpful hint about Jim's magical needs and expectations so as far as I'm concerned if you liked any of them they're all worth reading.
The third best book in the series.......2000-09-09
Jim's fight with the dark powers has never been like this before. A new way of battle is set for Jim in this exciting book. Magic, fighting, and surprises all take place at the eals christmas party to make one great book. This is exactly the excellent follow-up book you want to read after the Dragon at War. This time Jim is tangled up with conflict of timing as he struggles to get so many this accomplished at once and to discover what is really going on. Another must read book in the series.

Good 'real' science fiction. Ship in space, crew, conflicts etc........2005-10-25
Although it got a bit odd towards the end, the whole book is interesting and is a good look at the problems faced in deep space by a crew on a military starship. The StarWolf books however are MUCH better.
Intrigue of Leadership.......2000-04-08
However unrelated to the books "The Star Wolf" and "The Middle of Nowhere" David Gerrold uses many of his characters to create an intriguing crew chasing an enemy that may or may not exist. Not so much centered around the chase itself but on the crew's psychology, reacting to a Captain who holds no authority and a First Officer which drives the crew to the edge with his obsession for the kill. Although somewhat muddled in details at times, "Starhunt" had me absolutely riveted for the last third of the book. Any bore this book may offer is completely worth the ending, especially if you've read "The Star Wolf" or "The Middle of Nowhere."

NOT easy.......2007-09-03
These recipes are ridiculously complicated and each one has a multitude of ingredients. FAST & EASY? For who? Martha Stewart??
I'm using this book as a doorstop.
fantastic.......2007-01-19
I have used this book for a few years now and I love it. The recipes really are fairly fast and simple to follow. The nutritional information is provided for each recipe which really helps for people trying to follow certain diets like Weight Watchers. I recommend this book and have given it to others.
It should be called "BEAN AND PASTA COOKBOOK.".......2004-06-17
I assume that these editors know that grains such as quinoa, amaranth, rye, spelt, kasha and [has no one ever heard of?] wheat can make fine main or side dishes. I had hoped for some new ideas for these and other grains and vegetables on which I have thrived for years. Have they never heard of porridges? If you want speed, make porridge. And quinoa cooks in about fifteen minutes. Most small or cracked grains cook in 15-20 minutes.
I had assumed that there would be SOME bean recipes, although I am deathly allergic to all beans, and SOME pasta recipes even though pasta, too, ill suits my own particular physiology. Unfortunately, this is a BEAN and PASTA book, with an occasional, genial but uninspired reference to other foods. It makes the book essentially useless to me.
Far better books are availabe: The Greek, Italian, Indian vegetarian cookbooks, whole grain cookbooks, natural foods cookbooks.
An uninspired disappointment.
Fast, delicious, and sampling from a variety of cuisines.......2004-05-26
With recipes including Carribean, Italian, Thai, Mexican, and plain old American flavors, you can make gourmet quality meals much faster than using traditional recipes for similar dishes. Some newly available products, like hamburger-style "crumbles" and premade polenta tubes can make some of these recipes even faster. I just LOVE the Jamaican Jerk Tempeh served over noodles, and the vegetarian "Sloppy Joes." I'm online now to order some of the others in this "low-fat & fast" series.
Great Food - But Check the Nutrition Info!.......2003-10-23
I love this cookbook, use it all the time. One of my favorite recipes is the Mushroom Chowder...Yum!!! BUT....The nutrition information in the book is completely innaccurate - sometimes by more than 100 calories PER SERVING. Luckily I caught it before any damage was done.
Book Description
Whether you have a puppy or an adult dog, a home- or sleep-wrecker (or both), whether your dog has ingrained bad manners or simply hasn’t learned any good ones yet–Kathy Santo shines a light into the dark bedlam of life with an unruly dog. The secret of her ebullient and innovative guide to training: dogs are individuals, and any dog’s nature depends far less on his breed or pedigree than most training methods suppose.
In easy steps, you can quickly determine your dog’s “personality”–the interplay of prime motivations, energy level, work ethic, and emotional profile–to tailor a regimen optimally suited to his learning needs. Where “one-size” programs typically founder in canine chaos and human frustration, the Santo method carries you past failure: even when your dog doesn’t respond, your understanding of him deepens and leads you to a better strategy. This unique interactive approach–based on the author’s twenty years of experience–not only speeds canine learning but also lifts training from a temporary chore to an increasingly relaxed way of life.
The result is a lifetime of improving obedience–an ever more confident and happy dog, and an ever more gratifying relationship for you both.

Good for beginners.......2007-02-18
This book was good if you have never worked with dogs before. I was looking for something more advanced.
Kathy Santo's Dog Sense.......2006-09-10
I found this book incredibly helpful as a novice pet owner of a stubborn new puppy. The book is written with the necessary instructions for training, but also with humor to keep you interested and engaged. The book is so entertaining, I have even recommended it to friends who do not even own pets.
Saving us from Jake.......2006-09-03
We have the most adorable golden retriever, Jake. However, Jake is rambunctious and without Kathy Santo's Dog Sense, he would still be tackling kids behind the knees in over excited play.
Dog Sense makes sense...and is a MUST for any new dog owner or an owner of a new dog that has a mind of his/her own...thank you Kathy.
Lynne F
a must have for the dog owner or considering to be owner.......2006-08-24
Kathy Santo's book is sure to be a helpful aid to anyone with a dog and if you're considering adding that adorable puppy to your family, bring the book home first! The book is written clearly & with some humor and the child that says "Please can we have a dog,I'll take care of it" will gain much knowledge from this book as well.
I'm happy to say that we've taken some of Kathy's suggestions and applied them in training our Ragdoll cats and our ferret with great success too:)
I was fortunate enough to buy a few autographed books and these will be given as holiday gifts to a few friends with "unmannered dogs" along with some home made dog treats
Happy Reading...
The ABC Primer of Dog Training.......2006-08-23
This very informative book certainly helped me train my golden puppy--when all other attempts failed. The book is concise, informative and written with a delightful sense of humor. It would have been so much easier training over the years had I known about Kathy Santo's technique. Everything she says makes so much sense--and is applicable to all dogs. I'm giving the book to all my "dog loving" friends for an X-mas present this year. Dog Sense certainly makes sense!

Customer Reviews:
Beautiful photographs of a fantastic collection.......1998-11-06
Mr. Traina's book about his incomparable collection is a masterwork of photography, reproduction and scholarship. The crystal clear and remarkably close up pictures of the three hundred or more cases in Mr.Trania own passionately gathered Faberge masterworks gallery make the objects themselves almost palpable. This book is also welcome for the subsidiary essays, with the sole exception of a rather sour personal note by Mr.Traina's ex- wife, Danielle Steele. As a work of art about a long lost era of grace and elan and terrible contrasting poverty and violence, The Faberge Case makes many of the forever lost emotions and dramas come to life in a most vivid fashion.
Awesome Eye-Candy.......1998-10-31
This is a BEAUTIFUL book. The cases are works of art. It's amazing they didn't go blind making them!
A gorgeous book on a decadent subject.......1998-10-21
This sumptuous volume of amazing color photographs showcases the largest collection of Faberge cigarette cases in the world. Objects ranging in style from fokeloric or rococo to modernistic and even sexy are included in this book, pointing out that the most utilitarian object( although hardly of vital importance to the average Tsarist Russian) done by the most decadent of jewelers would be a masterpiece in miniature Mr. Faberge would be astounded at Mr.Traina's obsession with these politically incorrect objects. He would also hope that the owner of so many casas would at least be a smoker and use the casas once in a while.

Book Description
Gayle Pemberton shares the accumulated revelations of a lifetime of observation in sixteen provocative autobiographical essays, interweaving her own history and that of her family with reflections on American literature, art, music, and film. Building on the tradition of such writers as W.E.B. Du Bois, James Baldwin, and Ralph Ellison, but with a wisdom and sharp wit uniquely her own, Pemberton moves from the integration of a transient hotel in Chicago to a party on that city's Gold Coast; from journeys by train and the memories they provoke to reflections on race aboard ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean; from the Mickey Mouse Club to the ghost of Emmett Till; from Harvard to Hollywood. "A thinking woman's autobiography. An unusual and engaging work, consistently honest and constructive." -Los Angeles Times Book Review "Smart, irreverent and righteously indignant. Pemberton has an eye for the absurd and a talent for expressing the ironies of growing up black in white America. The Hottest Water in Chicago chronicles the sting of racism and the survival of one family's spirit."-Essence
Customer Reviews:
THIS BOOK IS THE THINKING BLACK WOMAN'S BIBLE!.......1999-09-23
Gayle Pemberton is, simply, BRILLIANT. This collection of essays from an important intellectual spoke to the core of my triumphant being. I love the angst and the jubilation that peppered her road to self-actualization; I love the matter-of-fact way in which she deals with everyday racism and ignorance; her essay on "triple consciousness" is breathtaking. It is a must read; more than that: it is a must read again, and again, and AGAIN AND AGAIN. . .
Wry, witty, subtle, mordant essays.......1999-05-20
This book is terrific! A moving, funny, insightful, challenging memoir of growing up black, female, and brainy in the 50's, 60's, 70's and beyond. The title essay, in which Pemberton's father integrates a fleabag hotel, is unforgettable. I also loved "Antidisestablishmentarianism," about watching the Mousketeers on TV as a young girl, under the eye of a truly amazing grandmother. Pemberton was included in Philip Lopate's anthology, "The Art of the Personal Essay"-- with good reason. She's outstanding.
