Book Description
Investigating attorney Dan Gordon is working for a unit of the U.S. Department of Justice that combats money launderers outside the United States. A routine mission develops into a complex international plot involving murder, espionage, kidnapping, conspiracy, and romance. Gordon, an indefatigable bloodhound, calls on his innate shrewdness, as well as his secret Mossad past and training, to ferret out the truth. In this intelligence thriller, attorney Haggai Carmon, a U.S Department of Justice outside consultant, weaves an ingenious plot. The Byzantine, subterranean methods by which rogue states - in this case the theocracy of Iran - seek to acquire nuclear materials are illuminated. If you want to understand how the CIA and the Mossad work, alone and together, you'll get no better picture than the one told in this compulsively readable intelligence thriller.
Customer Reviews:
Four stars for the set up of the plot of this first novel.......2007-01-04
With a very enticing, clever and smart plot, that makes the reader tick from the very beginning, and carefully worked out with alluring elements for lovers of spy novels like Israel Mossad operational recruitment procedures and operational tricks, ruthless Iranians agents making shady deals to obtain components to make the A bomb, greedy European bank executives and the CIA intervention, the author conceives a very attractive fiction novel based on his own life experiences
However there are some features, that in my opinion he must work hard to improve for future spy novels.
It is clear that Mr Carmon is not a professional writer and it shows, as the language he employs is plain and simple as the one you may find in the World section of any English language newspaper.
He also makes a second mistake as an apprentice, and that is, to unveil the whole scheme of the plot in the last 20 pages, reeling off names, places, bay guys, situations and events, one right after the other overwhelming the mind of the reader instead of making breathtaking twists and turns every step of the way.
A Riveting Ride of a Novel - It's No Coincidence it's Called an 'Intelligence' Thriller.......2006-07-21
After finishing the fourth Dan Brown (Davinci Code author) book, I had gone to Barnes and Noble to find something of the same vane. Upon asking one of the employees, I was pointed to Triple Identity, or what he referred to as "a book as entertaining and thrilling as the Davinci code yet Carmon actually has both an IQ and something worthwhile to write about."
Dan Gordon, the character Carmon has created, is more realistic and edgy than Bourne, Bauer, and Bond combined. Triple Identity is a triple threat of excitement, realism, and intelligence. If you want to read a book, buy this. If you want to read two books, buy this twice. The sequel, The Red Syndrome, should be arriving at my doorstep next week.
EXCELLENT READ.......2006-06-07
This book is exceptionally well-written and interesting. Great insight into the CIA and Mossad.

Jigsaw puzzle of a thriller.......2006-10-28
Reading this book gave me the feel of a jigsaw puzzle coming together. The pieces are bits of plot and character swirling about the investigator Dan Gordon as he tries to juggle them into a coherent image. And as in all good jigsaw puzzles, the empty spaces hint at shapes still out there, clues to hunt down and bring home. The story is driven by this hunt for the missing pieces, and the logic that holds them all together. Along the way - between murder, abduction, and money laundry schemes - there is shoptalk about the business of intelligence and espionage. I learned when it is proper to classify a document top secret or confidential, how to evaluate the reliability of a piece of information, how a deadbolt works, and even a little bit on the physics of nuclear fuels. It's also a timely book, centered on Iran's quest for the bomb, and the nuclear supermarket that the former Soviet Union may have become.
overrated.......2006-06-21
It is boring and predictable and some (fotunately not all) actions by all persons involved look either unmotivated or way too stupid. Also, there are some clear editorial oversights.
On the plus side, there is a feeling that the author does have some real life experience in these matters - in my view the 'boring' attribute comes out of this.
Terrific!.......2005-11-14
This book is terrific. Great characters, settings, and superb trade knowledge. I am eager to buy the first sequel.
Must Read.......2005-09-16
Absolutely loved this book! I read a lot of espionage/thriller books and this one was by far one of the best I've read. From the dialogue to the descriptions of locales and operations, the reader is led along a most interesting journey with characters that hold your attention. Finally, the book is very believable--no "Dan Brown suspensions of disbelief" in this one. Can hardly wait for more Dan Gordon novels!
Dan Brown can kiss this book's A**.......2005-08-18
Wow.
The three letters above summarize the intensity and ferociousness with which this book leapt out at me, as I read it within 48 hours. I've read my fair share of Grisham, Cussler and Brown (but everyone's read Brown), and out of all of these, Triple Identity was by far the most enjoyable.
Originally written in Hebrew, this Dirty Harry-esque chase through Europe follows Dan Gordon, an ex-Israeli intelligence (Mossad) operative working for the Justice Department, tracking money people owe to the American gov't. In Triple Identity, Gordon, a character partially based on author Haggai Carmon's own experiences, (sorry for all the commas) chases Raymond DeLouise, a banker with a bankrupt bank and 90 million dollars in debt, through DeLouise's shady past, a pursuit that eventually involves multiple countries, several intellegence agencies and at least one "big-breasted" secretary.
The catch? DeLouise is dead on Page 1. Set to the background of the first Cold War and the collapse of Soviet Russia, Triple Identity is an experience worth going through. Lovers of spy novels, thrillers and casual readers alike will enjoy the complexity of Carmon's multiple-layered plots and the games his characters play.
In short, buy this book. Right now.

Also known as The Lost Princess.......2000-06-18
This book is definitely worth reading for people of all ages. Its contents are thought provoking and life changing. In this story, a wise woman intervenes in the lives of two very spoiled girls. They are spoiled in different ways, and come from very different backgrounds: one is a princess, and one is a shepherd's cherished daughter. The wise woman takes these girls and gives them a chance to change. It is exciting to read and find out who will change for the better.

more than ordinary science fiction.......1999-06-09
I have read all the books written by brothers A&B Strugatskii and would name them among my favourite authors. This particular book is actually a second and probably the most popular part of a trilogy where the main charachter is Maxim Kammerrer. In spite of that it can be easily read separately. The story will keep even the ones who do not like science fiction preoccupied for a few hours. The authors explore our fear of the unknown. What is the real purpose of the alien world and its beings? Are they offering a friendly hand or are they here to destroy us? Or, may be, they are merely passing by... To make matters more complicated, the potential alien does not know that he might be a walking bomb as Earth is the only home he had ever known...
Another view at a Super Hero.......1999-03-03
Why would a SuperMan (or X-man) want to stick around on the little Earth, getting the poor humans out of various boring problems?
May be, because he (or she) does not realize his (or her) powers. Or, because, he feels gratefull or has some other emotional attachments.
But this things can not keep him for too long...

If you are only going to buy one book--this is the one!! It covers everything, yet is not complicated or overwhelming. It's directions are very clear and has lots of wonderful pictures. I can't think of anything that it doesn't cover. It also has a nice section of recipes to use all those wonderful foods that you've dried. A definite winner.
Excellent Reference.......2001-09-17
This is a fantastic reference for drying food.
The author takes the time to explain in detail the different methods of preparing food for dehydrating food. She discusses sulfiting, steaming, no prep. etc. The author also explains the various methods of drying food (oven, dehydrator etc.) The pictures only enhance the text. Further more, the author provides several charts (one for fruit, one for vegies, one for meat, one for herbs) regarding how well certain foods dry, how long each food will save when dried. I particularly liked the recipes that used dried foods.
This is a great book to have if you are interested in drying foods. I constantly refer to this book every time I dry the extra food we have on hand.
A great reference for anyone interested in food-drying.......1998-08-25

The author also gives references for different products on the market. This book is easy to read and understand - a must for anyone who would like to learn more about food-drying.

From the supplier: Drying is the most common way of preserving the flavor of herbs. Herbs can be dried in an oven or in a brown paper bag. Homesteaders who plan to preserve herbs should pick them early in the morning as the dew is drying and gather them before the flower buds are fully developed.

Customer Reviews:
Book 3 (Nature Aquarium World.......2007-05-31
This really is a fantastic book. Try to understand the Japanese culture and you'll understand the way mr. Takashi Amano disigns his aquariums.
The use of simplicity is amazing but not easy to realize. For every aquarist is the whole serie 1,2,3 a must. Fantastic. Good written and very nice taken photos as well.
If you love the first two you will love this one too!.......2007-01-19
the first two books were great with my personal fave being Nature Aquarium World 1 but this one was beautifully designed and illistrated. Not only are the illistrations wounderful but the "about takashi" section of the book made for some brief and enlighting reading.
Beautiful pictures but horrible for information.......2003-02-10
I got this book and I was suprized to find out that it had very little information whatsoever as to how his tanks were set up and the techniques he uses. I would not recommend this book for anything other then something nice to look at and wish that you hand the time to put into making your own tanks look like that.
Obviously part III.......2002-05-29
Important to note this is part III in the series. If you own part one, this is a nice addition. If you don't own part one, get it first. It's the best of Amano's photo books. Yes, these are well photographed coffee table books, not manuals to "do it yourself," although they do give you a lot of good info to work with.
The plant names don't correspond with Western plant names. You'll have to ID things yourself based on the photographs.
A great book of inspiration once you know the essentials of aquatic plantscaping & fishkeeping.
Amano's tanks are a living work of art. If you're already into freshwater planted fishtanks, get this book! After you've bought book one, Nature Aquarium World, of course
Nature Aquarium World : Book 3.......2000-02-07
Its important to note that this book is a series of photographs. There is not very much information to read except how the author looks after the tanks. The photographs are awe inspiring and its worth a place on anyone's bookshelf. The author works WITH nature to set up these tanks and the results are stunning.

Customer Reviews:
This book was exactly what I expected........2002-12-27
Obviously, since this book is printed by Benjamin Moore Paints, there will be a certain amount of self-advertising following it's advice on choosing the proper paints and equipment (like the recipies on the back of soup cans).
However, this book was a good primer (pardon the pun) for anyone who is compentant enough to paint the insides of a house, and is just starting to tackle the outside of their home.
I found it chock full of useful advice, but lacking in enough procedural details to be called a "step-by-step" guide.
It'll say things like "Strip and sand the exterior trim before priming" and I'll say things like "HOW?!?"
I'm still stuck.......2002-03-05
I have purchased several guides for painting houses in the "home improvements" category. They were fine for learning about painting a house, but I'm hiring painter, so I don't really need that information. What I need is help choosing the right color. Obviously I don't want to make a mistake. I already know that I want a yellow house. But none of the colors I have tested look right. They are all too bright or dark even though they look pale on the paint chips. When I saw this book, I noticed the phrase "choosing paint colors" right in the title, so I assumed it was the answer. But, I felt every bit as stuck at the paint store as I did before reading the book. My expectation was that I wouldn't have to start going through paint chips anymore, but the information in the book wasn't specific enough to be useful to me. The book did not meet my expectations.
Where are the painted houses?.......2002-03-04
I thought this book would give me photographs of painted houses and their paint colors. Instead it gave detailed information on the paint process itself with scant few houses where the whole house shows. Its mostly pretty photos like the rooftop of a house with a weatherwane on it, or a window with a window box of flowers under it. Where are the painted houses? I can't figure out what color to paint my house using this book.
More attractive than helpful.......2002-03-03
I bought the book because I needed help figuring out what color to paint my house, but it really didn't help me. The book looks good, but what I need is help choosing colors. I returned it.
The Art of Exterior Painting.......2000-08-08
Painting a house or even thinking about it is no fun. I visited a Benjamin Moore Paint Store and browsed through the store's only copy of the book, The Art of Exterior Painting. The book is very well written with the basics of house painting described in detail and with color photos describing problems, solutions and ultimate results. The book impressed me so much I went home and ordered it via Amazon for my own reference as I plan to paint my house. An excellent PRIMER!

Book Description
This fascinating look at artists and their intimate partners takes nine well-known New Zealand couples and explores the many aspects of their lives—particularly how the presence of an artistic companion or soul mate impacts the art they produce. Combining the pleasures of gossip with information about how these artists have conducted their lives, this illuminates many of the themes found in the artists' paintings, poems, and films that revolve around their partners and the strains of producing serious art in a small and isolated country. The couples include Gil and Pat Hanly, Colin and Anne McCahon, Sylvia and Peter Siddell, Frances Hodgkins and D. K. Richmond, James K. Baxter and Jacquie Sturm, Kendrick Smithyman and Mary Stanley, Rudall and Ramai Hayward, Toss and Edith Woollaston, and Meg and Alister te Ariki Campbell. All told, nine painters, six poets, two filmmakers, and a photographer are included.

Essential portraits of New Zealand painters.......2000-06-22
This book is a landmark in New Zealand publishing. For the first time painters are seen as being central to the culture of New Zealand. In a brilliant text by Jim and Mary Barr one becomes aware that New Zealand has a short yet very intense art history. Marti Friedlander's photographs are incisive and generous in their vision of artist's lives. Her empathy is obvious and the photographs are not overwhelmed by design elements. This is a real treasure of a book and one of the best art publications produced in New Zealand.

Book Description
Fizzing with wit and style and featuring original illustrations by the author, this lively, humorous, and tragic memoir traces the roots of a distinguished painter and her crucial role in New Zealand's feminist movement. Exploring the author's Irish ancestors; childhood in provincial Timaru, New Zealand; bohemian life as a student; and marriage to celebrated psychiatrist Fraser Macdonald, these stories highlight the evolution of culture and visual arts in New Zealand while they brilliantly depict her courageous and flamboyant trek through life.
Book Description
A happy, middle-class childhood lived in the shadows of sweeping social change and oncoming revolutionsuch was the experience of novelist Pablo Medina. In this memoir, Medina revisits his curious double world, recalling the pre-revolutionary Cuba of his first twelve years, 1948-1960. His recollections move easily from his childhood adventures to warm remembrances of family and friends to his growing awareness of the social conflicts that would ultimately send his family into exile in the United States. Medina also draws on the memories of his elders to extend his memoir back to the Cuban War of Independence and forward through the twentieth century to the fall of the Batista regime, the victory of the Revolution in 1959, and the family's growing disillusionment with the Castro regime. This first paperback edition also includes a new Epilogue describing Medina's visit to Cuba in 1999. 14 black and white photographs, preface, epilogue, glossary.
Customer Reviews:
A Great Read.......2000-07-11
Pablo Medina's memoirs of growing up in Cuba are so engaging that the reader imagines he, too, has grown up on that tropical island in the 1950's.
