Not my type.......2007-06-26
Albeit the main plot is fairly good the book goes out of it so many times that you won't remember what was you reading. I think that the love story is just pathetic, why is she so distraught because she thinks that she doesn't know her new lover? For instance, it's really important to know what kind of beer her lover drinks? Take this book on your vacations and read it in a desultory way whenever you don't have anything else to do and maybe you'll like it.
Another fun Skye Denison cozy mystery.......2007-04-17
Skye Denison has hired sexy contractor Beau Hamilton to renovate the old house she inherited. Everyone recommended him, after all. His good looks don't hurt either. Especially since Skye has sworn off men since her breakup with her boyfriend.
Unfortunately Skye soon realizes his work isn't all it's cracked up to be. Before she can fire him, she finds him murdered. Who could have killed the contractor? Soon Skye finds the list goes on forever. Can she find the killer without putting herself in danger? Plus should she give Simon another chance? Then there's Chief Wally Boyd who is showing real interest in her. What's a girl to do?
I love this series. School psychologist Skye Denison is such a fun character. No wonder the kids love her so much. I was happy to see Wally and her giving it a chance in this book. I'm not sure which man I want to see her with, but she hadn't even given Wally a turn so that she could make a better decision.
I always enjoy the wacky characters in this series. The author has done a great job of creating an enjoyable series with a town full of interesting people. This installment didn't disappoint! I can't wait to read the next book. I highly recommend this book and series.
Wonderfully entertaining.......2007-03-09
This series is very enjoyable. I had the pleasure to meet Denise in person on my last cruise. It was a pleasure to discuss her books with her. One of her future books will take place on a cruise ship so she was doing research while on board. She did say that her character will marry so I am looking forward to her future books.
When Home Repair Turns Deadly..........2006-10-12
In the 8th book in the Scumble River mystery series, Skye Denison, has inherited a large home in desperate need of a makeover. She hires Beau Hamilton, a good looking "bad boy" type based on good looks, excellent recommendations, and evidence of his handiwork around town. Right from the beginning, however, Skye questions her choice of contractor when the work progresses slowly and with large errors. After giving Beau adequate time to fix his lax work ethic and sloppy carpentry, Skye finally decides to fire him and find a new contractor to remodel her home.
Coming home late one evening, she hears what she believes is moaning and investigates. Thinking it could be her missing cat, Bingo, Skye roams around in the woods only to discover the badly injured and bleeding Beau in a boat. After diving into the chilly water and struggling to pull the boat to safety, Skye arrives back at the shoreline to discover her relatives and the authorities have arrived on the scene. Her old nemesis, Sheriff Peterson is there to accuse her of murdering Beau over shoddy workmanship, and her new love interest, Chief Wally Boyd, steps in to defend her. Working to clear her name and find a killer determined to make mischief in her new home, Skye must also decide whether to give old flame, Simon, a second chance, or to move ahead in a new relationship with Wally.
This is a fun, interesting series! I adored the last two installments, and cannot wait for the next book! The only issue that I have with the premise is the fact that the ending of the relationship between Skye and Simon seems to be a bit juvenile (which is the case in many relationships). While reading the book, I just wanted to scream at them to discuss the "other woman" episode, and for them both to stop being so stubborn. I personally don't believe that trust means never having to explain yourself. If Simon had nothing to hide, then why was he so reluctant to talk about it? In any case, this added to the suspense and the drama of the book, and I am hoping to see a resolution in the next installment. However, I vote for Skye to pick Wally...Simon seems too straight-laced and boring for the fun-loving Skye. I am really looking forward to seeing which man Skye will choose...
The first book in the series is called "Murder of a Small-Town Honey". Enjoy!
Skye's contractor is murdered.......2006-09-16
Skye Denison has inherited a house which needs a lot of repair. She hires Beau Hamilton who turns out to be the worst workman that she could imagine, so she is puzzled as to why everyone has given him such good recommendations. When she finds Beau dead in the bottom of a boat, she begins her own investigation, since the local sheriff is trying to pin the murder on her. Meanwhile she is trying to live down the backlash in the small town of Scumble River, Illinois, after breaking up with her boyfriend, Simon. Handsome lawman Wally has had his eye on Skye for some time, so he is more than happy to step in as her new boyfriend. In the middle of all of this, Skye works hard in her job as the school psychologist for the district. As a former school counselor, I recognize Denise Swanson's descriptions of the teachers' lounge which is filled with ugly hand-me-downs, as well as the various meetings and difficulties with parents. Swanson's fans will enjoy this latest addition to the Scumble River series.

Wonderful Fantasy Adventure!.......2003-10-30
Tristan had succeeded where hundreds of other heroes and wizards has failed - he woke the lovely sleeping princess, found the tenth ring, and discovered that he was the rightful heir to the throne of Calandra. Unfortunately, Tristan didn't get to ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after. There were many nobles who disputed Tristan's right to the throne and were willing to wage war to get rid of him once and for all so they could go back to their petty squabbling over who would be king. Also, in order to actually be able to sit on the throne, Tristan needed the sword of Calandra, or his crowning would also mean his death. Too bad the sword disappeared into myth and legend centuries before...
In desperation, Tristan returns to the wizard's city of Kovelir to seek out Crewzel, a fortune teller to see if she could read anything more from her magical cards. But Tristan was bitterly disappointed to discover that Crewzel had disappeared without a trace, even her beloved son did not know where she was. Knowing full well that Crewzel would never go anywhere without her son, Tristan set out to find her while continuing his wizard's apprenticeship and searching the library for any references to the sword of Calandra. But time was running out and Tristan knew that he had to gamble the future of the kingdom on one desperate attempt - to forge a new sword, a sword that would mean Tristan's death or victory...
The Sword of Calandra picks up where The Ring of Allaire ended, with Tristan and Elisena desperately fighting the evil forces of Nimir, the winter king. Unlike most second books in a trilogy, this book actually had a purpose and a mystery to solve and it was another fun adventure to take with familiar characters. I simply loved Dexter's characters and enjoyed seeing familiar faces and discovering what happened to secondary characters that were left behind in the Ring of Allaire. Dexter presents a simple quest in a unique and memorable fashion and her bumbling hero, Tristan, always manages to make it through his challenges, despite his lack of confidence in himself. I highly recommend this whole series, but you could read this book on its own and understand everything that is happening. Fantasy fans should definitely check out Susan Dexter's writings - she is a real hidden treasure!
This is a great book!.......1999-02-10
I love this book and I would like to read more of Susan's stuff that is in the series.
An enjoyable read!.......1998-08-23
Picks up where "The Ring of Allaire" left off. Now that Tristan has arrived in Crogen, he must secure the throne with a coronation ceremony that includes the former king's sword...which of course is nowhere to be found! This is a well done tale, taking what could be a hackneyed, overused plot line and making it unique and interesting. Tristan, while somewhat inept, is a likeable hero, and the story seems fresh even now in 1998, despite it having been published in 1985.

Great questions, but not enough space to answer them! :(.......2007-07-12
This book is set up such that every day of the year has its own question. This is great to keep moms on task and filling out the pages in a timely manner. Many of the pages are quite thought-provoking and encourage story-sharing. However, the space is MUCH too limited to adequately do so. For example, it is difficult to relate a childhood story in a space the size of an index card. And some of that space is taken up by the question! Couple that with someone who doesn't have TEENY TINY handwriting...and you have a problem. The questions are great, but there should be adequate room for an answer! For example, my mother quickly ran out of room on a question/card about elementary school but then there was an entire page for "what was your day and date of birth"?? That just makes no sense. Also, be warned that the font of the questions can be hard to read (as it is cursive and squished together). This is difficult for people with vision problems and for those whose primary language is not English. If you can get past that (and maybe supplement some of your own blank pages), this is a fantastic keepsake. It causes Mom to fondly look back on her life and remember events long past.
Overall review: It is a great way to share memories...but the logistics of this book need serious improvement.
great .......2007-01-05
I think this is a great way to know things about your mother you may have never asked her.
Daughter's Remembrance.......2006-08-02
My daughter, who is dying of cancer, had received a copy of this book from a friend. I had asked her some of the questions and could answer some of them for her. I ordered 2 additional copies for her other 2 children and in filling them out feel that they will provide her very young 3 sons with some idea of what her childhood and growing up years were like. Hopefully they will be a very treasured memento from a mother they will only be able to keep in their hearts.
Wonderful Memories.......2004-08-31
I recently gave this to my aunt who has cancer and is bedridden to give to her own daughter for her birthday ... needless to say she was overwhelmed with such a 'memorable' gift. It gave my aunt the opportunity to share some wonderful and special moments in her own life with her daughter and remember some great times. I have now bought 3 copies of this book for other family members including my own mother. My only complaint is that it is truly American driven with regards to holidays and rites of passage (ie. snipe hunts), but you can get around these things easily. I highly recommend this treasure for all.
Most precious thing ever.......2004-05-04
I actually bought this book MANY years ago. Took 3 years but my mom finally filled it out. This book is so precious to me. Once a year I take it out and read it. I just know if I ever have kids, they will love it as well. I searched online in hopes of finding ones similiar for other family members. I highly recommed this book to anyone. Ahltimerz runs big in my family, and I know there will be a day when I can no longer as my mom questions about her childhood. This book is great.

Customer Reviews:
Not very comprehensive.......2005-08-22
Although the book has a lot of nice pictures, much of the information is basic. I thought it was not very comprehensive. The book itself is tiny, and you could easily read it cover to cover in half an hour or less. I was not impressed. Save your money and go with a more complete book on English Springer Spaniels, like "The English Springer Spaniel", also sold on this website.
How to train your english springer spaniel.......2003-06-22
this is a very good book. it has a lot of usefull tips. we just got this book the other day and every day since then we've been reading this book. Even if you get tired of reading the pictures are very fun to look at.
A Great Guide for Springer Owners.......2000-03-06
Ms. Palika's easy to understand description of the English Springer makes for informative reading. A high energy and active breed, it's most important that owners teach their Springers basic obedience and manners. Easy to understand steps in this book will help owners to teach their dogs what is to be expected of them, and to have fun with the training. This is particularly a wonderful guide for the first-time Springer owner. Read and learn!

Book Description
The Celts were a passionate and ferocious forest people. They rode horses and sat on wolfskins, worshipped pagan gods, and practiced the arts of poetry, prophecy, and astrology. Their art was sacred and symbolic; its interlacing ribbons, knots, mazes, and animal designs still mesmerize the modern world. Celtic Symbols invites us to explore this legendary druid society with rubber stamps featuring the intricate circles, knots, and borders of Celtic art. The designs represent the historical range of Celtic art, which was geometric early on and zoomorphic in later centuries. Celtic Symbols also includes a booklet by writer Jim Paul that describes the fascinating nuances of Celtic life and society. This inspiring and useful treasure is sure to yield hours of fun and an endless supply of original stamp art creations.
Customer Reviews:
Deeply Disappointed.......2005-03-08
I'm just starting to get into creating greeting cards with stamps and this set was deeply disappointing. The quality of the rubber is poor. The images are cut very shallow and ink invariably gets on the rest of the stamp and leaves marks on the printed image. I've tried several brands of ink and markers, all yielding poor results. The wood mounts are thin and do not provide enough gripping surface. Lightly sanding the rubber produced only slightly improved results. It should not be tricky to create a good image with high quality stamps. All in all, very inferior quality compared to the "real" wood block backed rubber stamps used to create greeting cards.
Wonderful value.......2002-03-22
These stamps are great. There is a great variety and they are already assembled in a wooden box. They are high quality stamps, that come out very clear but the stamp pad is useless. These are a great value with a very low price.
These stamps are ok, but not the best.......2001-04-02
A little tip for anyone buying these: if the ink doesn't take (ie. it sort of bubbles up on the surface of the rubber), take an emery board and go over the rubber part. Also, don't apply too much pressure as it will leave nasty edge marks. This is because of how they are mounted. I prefer stamps that are cut close to the image and THEN mounted on the wood. These stamps aren't all bad though. I've used them many times with great effect.
These are not good stamps!.......2001-01-24
I know good stamps. I have spent a lot of money on good stamps over the years. These are not good stamps. They do not feel good in your hand. They do not leave good impressions. If you are looking for quality stamps with which to make artwork in all sorts of papercrafts, do not buy these stamps. The accomponying book is cool. But the stamps themselves--yeach. Please trust me and don't waste your money.
A Nifty Set of Stamps for Budding Celtophiles.......2000-07-25
As a budding Celtophile, I had to have this set when I saw it in a catalog....and paid about 8 bucks more! It's a good set, with a very nice box for storage. In fact, it's almost worth buying the set just for the box. An insert contains information not only on stamping, but on the Celts themselves.
You can get some really beautiful designs out of these stamps but it takes some practice, and some of the smaller ones tend to blur if you press too hard. The trick is to get a very good ink pad (Encore is the best) and learn how to apply just the right pressure. This is easier with these stamps than with other sets, as these are wood backed, which makes for a better, clearer image. I used the one with three knotted horses to make party invitations, using a multi colored stamp pad in hues of blue and purple with a silver accent. With a little work, they came out really nice.
This set is an excellent value, especially at this price, and a nice addition to any stamper collection.

Book Description
Book Description
The 1980s was a decade in which filmmakers pulled put all the stops to dazzle audiences and make them jump out of their seats. And just as they marked the development of the special effects technology that sparked a wave of blockbuster films, the Eighties also saw the advent of the cutting edge computer techniques used by graphic artists in the promotional posters for these unforgettable films.
It was the decade when filmmakers finally had the technology to transfer their visions to the screen, challenging graphic artists and illustrators to catch up, and many of its most enduring images are represented in this volume: the glow behind the lenses of Arnold Schwarzenegger's gargoyle-framed sunglasses that characterized the monolithic menace of The Terminator; the sarcastically simple crossed-out cartoon ghost that enticed audiences into the theaters to see Ghostbusters; the silhouette of the mysterious, domino-clad stranger that haunts the unbalanced mind of Mozart in Amadeus; the wisp of cigarette smoke that bisects the image of Sean Young's stoic face on the poster for Blade Runner; and many more.
The poster art presented in this volume represents the work of a new generation of graphic artists and designers, equipped for the first time with a brand new technology, in collaboration with visionary filmmakersfrom Spielberg to Kurosawa, from Cameron to Ramis, from Foreman to Attenboroughwho continually managed to keep our eyes riveted to the screen.
Edited by Tony Nourmand and Graham Marsh.

The Best of the Best Era of Movies.......2003-08-26
This is by far the greatest collection of the essential movies of the decade series. The 80's created blockbusters like The Terminator, Friday the 13th, Poltergeist, Fletch, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Raiders of the Lost Ark, ET, Rainman, The Breakfast Club, Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, Beverly Hills Cop, Robo Cop and Rambo to name but a few. They're all inside just begging to go up on your wall and be admired along with heaps of others.
You could either keep this intact as a collection of posters in a book to show and discuss with friends, or cut the book up and actually have a vast number of posters up on your wall. This book is about a third the size of your standard film poster and most movies are full page colour. Any of them would look great up on the wall. If there's a better poster collection out there then it must be really good as this is sensational!

what a treasure.......2007-10-18
What a treasure this little book is.
Parishioners from Dexter Street Baptist church give their first-hand memories of Dr. King and I completely enjoyed them. For history-buffs, there is information in here that is not commonly known about the era and for those of us who wish we could have sat in those pews and listened to Dr. King, this offers to us a glimpse of that.
