Book Description
Giles (to Buffy): "What did you sing about?"
Buffy: "I, uh...don't remember. But it seemed perfectly normal."
Xander: "But disturbing. And not the natural order of things and do you think it'll happen again? 'Cause I'm for the natural order of things."
Since she's been brought back from the dead (for the second time), Buffy the Vampire Slayer hasn't quite been feeling her calling. Sure, she still gives the underworld a run for its money, but her heart just isn't in the job. Luckily, she's been able to keep her lack of enthusiasm a somewhat secret.
Until now. When someone accidentally summons a music-making demon named Sweet, Buffy finds herself belting out her most private emotions. And she's not the only one -- before the battle is done, each of the Scoobies will have uncovered -- through song and dance, for better or for worse, each others' most guarded thoughts -- prompting the question, "where do we go from here?"
Here, in one volume, find complete, uncut dialogue, song lyrics, sheet music, and a full-color photo insert. For the true fan, a complete, authorized guide to the smash hit musical episode!
Customer Reviews:
A must for Buffy fans.......2006-12-29
If you love BTVS, they you probably love the "Once More, With Feeling" episode. And you MUST add the script book to your collection. Awesome.
a must have for fans.......2006-05-23
This volume should be purchased by two kind of readers: the fan of the series who wish to possess everything was ever officially published and the fan who wishes to learn more.
I address this review to the second kind because the first one simply needs no spur to buy. He will be pleased with the text of the songs and with the pictures.
Someone interested in the know how of Buffy's authors, possibly to learn how to become a screen writer, will be interested in reading the script. Those interested in the music, such as myself, will find the score (vocals + piano) of all the songs.
I gave just four stars because of the commentary which was a little disappointing: from Mr Whedon I expected much more humour.
This volume is rather inexpensive so I think no one will be disturbed by the average quality of paper and pictures.
Great Product and...........2006-04-13
a lot of fun. This one of our 2 favorite Buffy episodes. It's a lot of fun reading the script along with watching the episode. The musical script is in the back of the book so you get all the songs as well.
Good item for Buffy fans.......2005-08-21
The Buffy musical episode was undoubtedly one of the most memorable moments in Buffy history, perhaps in television history as well. This script book is a good item for avid watchers and musical fans, as it includes not only the full original script, but sheet music and photo inserts. I found the sheet music (for all of the songs featured in the episode) very fun and useful, especially if you're a music fan, like myself.
Interesting book but I prefer CD, watching episode.......2005-02-28
I've seen the episode several times and I have the CD (parts of that are actually pretty good)so I decided to get the accompanying book to go along with it.
You'll get introductory material by Joss Whedon, a preface setting up the background for the episode followed by a copy of the script itself which other reviewers say is somewhat different to the broadcast version.
After that you'll find sections covering music details and backgrounding for various show segments. This is followed by a short color section of photos, most from the episode itself.
The last section of the book is I guess a complete selection of the sheet music, not of much interest to me.
I did find the book interesting but I much prefer watching "Once more with Feeling", or listening to it, than reading about it.

A great start for the genius Loeb/Sale team (4 Stars).......2006-08-08
Challengers of the Unknown Must Die! was the first comic book that Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale ever worked on together. A few pages in and it's apparent that there was plenty of magic when these two collaborated, even from the beginning. This eight-issue (nine if you include the extra story that has never seen print before this book) graphic novel takes a cue from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns and starts with the middle aged Challengers scrambling to save a mostly destroyed Challenger City after Challenger Mountain exploded killing hundreds, including Challengers Prof and June. Ace, Rocky and Red are left to stand trial and forced to go their seperate ways, each of them delving deeper into their increasingly crazy lifestyles, until fate brings them together again to challenge an unknown force wreaking havoc on an unsuspecting world. Loeb's strengths as a writer shine through even in his first comic; his characterizations make the world of the Challengers easy to understand even if you've never read a single comic about them previously. Fans of Tim Sale's work on stories such as The Long Halloween will be pleasently surprised by his artistry in Challengers as he has never been more creative with his visual style of storytelling than here. The homages to other comics and a controversial cameo by Superman only add to the great story that Loeb and Sale weave and is definitely a worthy addition to any Loeb/Sale or comic book collection.
When Hype is Truth -- Challengers Reimaged.......2005-04-07
In the spirit of Dark Knight Returns, the Challengers of the Unknown get their turn at being rewritten. As the story opens we get a reporter criticized for using the cheap cliche phrase "The Challengers Must Die!" This leads him to go visit Challengerville and Challenger mountain. However, no sooner does he arrive then the mountain blows up and almost completely destroys the town.
In the wake of the catastrophe, the surviving Challengers risk life and limb to help the innocent. They are repaid by being arrested and eventually disbanded. The Challengers pursue their own paths as action film hero, mystic, and mercenary. But as their paths seem to be leading them apart, they are brought back together and reform to again challenge the unknown, this time in the form of a powerful villain who bellows that "The Challengers Must Die!"
I ordinally read this in individual issues and was happy to see it collected finally. One does not really need to be familiar with the Challengers to enjoy this story. While the Challengers have no special powers they truly are heros and this mini-series does them great credit. Also included is a Challenger story that has previously remained unpublished. It tries to explain inconsistencies between the mini-series and some other DC titles. A fun read with powerful art, fun plot, and some cameos by Superman and Batman. Check it out.

SCD "cured" my U. Colitis.......2007-09-14
R e a d t h e b o o k !
T r y S C D!
It is specific healthy whole foods. It can not harm you.
When you go on the SCD diet you can see for yourself intelligently from your first hand experience if it works for you. I was eating this way for over six years and it was not that hard to eat healthy when it made me feel great and stop all my symptoms..
Elimination diet is much better choice.......2007-07-20
The SCD diet has a very high percentage of success and there is a good reason for this.
It completely eliminates refined sugar, artificial sweeteners and flavorings, white flour, any food high in trans fat and of course any junk food, which is bad for everyone.
This diet takes care of: bacteria overgrowth, gluten intolerance (very common in IBD patients), allergies for wheat and oats and allergy for soy.
Eliminating milk from an adults' diet helps with digestion for everyone, with or without lactose intolerance or milk allergy.
The downside of this diet is that it is unnecessarily restrictive, hard to follow and extremely expensive .
There is no need to eliminate all the grains for ones with gluten intolerance or wheat allergy and of course for ones whose problematic food is milk. Maybe white rice really is not good, but brown rice has very high nutrition value and should be allowed. Quinoa and amaranth are very good sources of protein, iron and calcium.
Maybe at the time that the book was written there were no available high quality commercial yogurts, but now one can find lots of them in any health food store.
This is definitely not a diet for ones with allergies for nuts, fructose intolerance and who has difficulties to digest animal protein.
The difference between SCD and elimination diet is that SCD eliminates foods just 'in case', because they could be a problem, while elimination diet is designed to identify the food allergies and/or sensitivities for every individual person and remove only that foods, which are problematic for that person.
Also, elimination diet does not sell books for $22.
Best of its kind.......2007-07-07
I have Crohn's disease, and lately I've read several books about nutrition for people with IBD, gluten intolerance etc. This is the only one I'm keeping
Diet and nutrition are complicated, and there is little agreement beyond the basics. The thesis in this book is that many people, especially those with IBD, have difficulty digesting complex carbohydrates, found in grains, milk and sugar. This is bad not only because of reduced absorption, but also because those carbohydrates remain in your gut longer than they should, and become food for harmful bacteria.
By avoiding complex carbohydrates, and getting your carbs from fruit, you help starve the harmful bacteria.
I've been following the book's thesis, and am feeling better than I have in a quite while. But the main reason I recommend the book is that it's well reasoned, sensible, and optimistic. So many books have doomsday scenarios. This one even suggests you can leave the diet once you're healed.
Along the way there are tons of pieces of information backed by references to real articles on real journals.
If you're suffering from IBD or gasses, cramps etc., give this book a serious try.
Eye opening and practical.......2007-07-03
This book made a huge difference for my husband who was suffering from a bad case of ulcerative colitis. Her approach is so sensible and based in science, it's a mind bender why doctors are not utilizing her knowledge. Within a few days of following the diet suggested, my husband had a great improvement in his symptoms. I'm recommending this book to all my friends who have "stomach problems" and those who have lactose intolerance.
For Everyone.......2007-06-27
This is a book for people suffering from intestinal destress. It works wonderfully in that capacity. In addition my wife who has no problem started the diet and started losing weight--a pound or so a week. She is delighted.
One proviso, the author says that diet soda is acceptable. My experience is aspertame is toxic in any form and should be avoided.
With that stated I am recommending the book to my friends.

Derived from the pages of Cook's Illustrated magazine, American Classics (part of the successful Best Recipe series) offers 300 formulas for a soup-to-nuts trove of American standards--everything from clam chowder, mashed potatoes, and fried chicken to brownies, carrot cake, and lemon meringue pie (which required 28 tryouts before the "best" was achieved). The book goes far to realize its mission with exhaustive "what-we-were-looking-for-and-how-we-got-it" investigations; tons of useful asides on techniques, ingredients, and equipment; great how-to illustrations; and the recipes themselves, which are precisely thought through and clearly rendered. All in all, even a cursory dip into the book takes readers into the very heart of cooking.
How does it work? Let's take the recipe for Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, a simple dish but one that's frequently botched. First, the problem of achieving the right filling distribution: "Tradition ... suggests that the cheese be cut into thin, even slices for easy melting," say the authors, but this can be problematic as "cheese planes don't work well on soft, rubbery cheeses" and cutting with a knife "requires patience, practice, and a relatively hard block of cheese." After a number of slicing failures, the authors opt for "the common box grater ... which is quick and efficient." Next, the bread: "Some like it soft and some like it firm," but even so, a supermarket brand gets the nod. Testing a full range of fats reveals salted butter is best for "superior flavor and its ability to turn bread deeply golden," and so it goes through the choice of skillet (heavy gauge with a flat bottom) and the correct cooking temperature (no more than medium low). An exemplary recipe for grilled cheese sandwiches follows.
If all of this sounds obsessive, it is. More compelling is the fact that this approach helps readers understand the parameters of any cooking task, thus educating their tastes while also providing true technical empowerment. And the dishes really are keepers. --Arthur Boehm
Book Description
Classic recipes from American home cooking-tested and refurbished in the Cook's Illustrated test kitchen.
Over the years, many classic American recipes have fallen into disrepair, barely recognizable shambles of their former selves. So if you want a recipe for cornbread, cheesesteak sandwiches, frosted layer cakes, hermit cookies, green bean casserole, or macaroni and cheese that tastes at least as good as you remember, where would you find it? Well, now you can turn to American Classics from the editors of Cook's Illustrated.
This 448-page cookbook provides 335 recipes covering the wide range of American cooking. Choose from favorite regional dishes such as Boston baked beans, Chicago deep-dish pizza, and New Orleans' legendary red beans and rice. Beloved family fare, such as chicken pot pie, corned beef and cabbage, turkey Tetrazzini, ham roast, stuffed peppers, fried onion rings, pecan bars, and coconut cream pie are also included. Timeless restaurant dishes, such as Parker House rolls, Waldorf salad, and bananas Foster, have been updated and streamlined. And because our editors have tested each recipe dozens of times, they are about as close to foolproof as any recipe can get.
This in-depth volume provides answers as well as recipes. How do you keep lemon meringue pie from weeping? Can you capture the flavors of a real clambake on top of the stove? Which brand of frozen blueberries tastes better than fresh? How do you cook smothered pork chops so they are tender, not tough?
American Classics also contains more than 200 illustrations that show you how to shave meat for cheesesteak sandwiches, shape crescent rolls, shred cabbage, and frost cakes. Dozens of no-nonsense equipment ratings and taste tests of supermarket foods are also included. Find out which food processor does the best job of kneading bread dough and why all cheese graters are not the same.
Customer Reviews:
I was a good cook...but this made my dinners Excellent!.......2006-08-18
If you take any interest at all in cooking, you will LOVE reading this book! But the proof is in the pudding, of course, and time after time, the recipes I use from this book have been successful. For instance, my husband and adult son agreed that the macaroni and cheese I made from this collection was the absolute BEST I had ever made. You may think I was an average cook to begin with, but that isn't the case. The editors were right, evaporated milk was the key to a smooth cheese sauce. And who would have thought of using fettucini instead of egg noodles in the tuna casserole, but once I did it, I would never use anything but.
I read the long, ranting and complaining about this and other books by one reviewer and thought it was petty. I consider this American Classics book to have two solid attributes: excellent discussion of testing and methods as well as reliable recipes. Not only did I purchase the Italian Classics and the Best Recipes books (both of which I enjoyed as well), I plan to purchase the large basic cookbook by the same publisher as gifts to my adult children this holiday season.
This book has given me a HUGE boost of energy and enthusiasm for cooking, and we're all enjoying the benefits.
Interesting American Recipes for Brits- and Americans.......2005-08-20
I spent time in the States when younger, and some things that I ate were a little eclectic for British Tastes. However, when I saw this book reviewed in the British press, I knew it would have all the recipes I would need. I wasn't wrong! Not many pictures, but clear, concise instructions, and reading it has made my tummy rumble! Can't wait to try the stuffing recipes - so much different to British stuffing, and the Coca-cola glazed Ham. This will keep me busy for ages!
Loved it!.......2005-04-18
I bought this book for my brother and instead of wrapping it, I read it during the three hour trip to his house. He almost didn't get it! It has so many great ideas in it even for someone like me who has been cooking a long time. Buy this for the foodie in your life!
Excellent Cookbook for First Time Cooks.......2004-03-02
I have tried nearly every recipe in this cookbook. All of them came out well, and the explanations that come with the recipes are excellent.
You can find more recipes in the Joy of Cooking, but you won't be as assured the food will taste good. Cooks Illustrated runs through several iterations to create the "perfect" recipe. Most of the ingredients are simple and readily available. The instructions are easy to follow.
This is an excellent cookbook for inexperienced and experienced cooks alike.
Up To Their Usual (Very High) Standard.......2004-01-13
Did it ever occur to the whiners writing reviews about duplications that these might exist, not because the editors don't "have enough" recipes, but because some recipes BELONG in more than one cookbook? A grilling recipe from the Test Kitchen series might be appropriate in the Best Recipe: Gilling and Barbeque book. In fact, the Grilling and Barbeque cookbook might be lacking a key technique or dish without it. The Best Recipe (1999) was the first of its kind, and since it contained "best" Italian recipes, chicken recipes, and soup recipes, a few of these would be entirely appropriate in cookbooks that claim to cover all the basics in the sub-categories. And I wouldn't want an incomplete Perfect Vegetables cookbook, for instance, just because a recipe had been perfected during the Test Kitchen television series. The 1/3 figure is much too high, by the way.

Welsh Terrier Reference.......2007-03-25
Very nicely done, great pix, for the Welsh Terrier owner or fan
Finally, a book that makes sense of my wonderful dog!.......2005-08-05
To the author, thank you! Hudson's just 18 months old, and we've had your book only a week, already we have learned so much we have a happier house and feel more confident that we can have a happier more productive relationship with this breed.
The book is breed specific and each section covers important aspects of the Welsh Terrier. I've seen books like this for other breeds where as much as half the book was the same information found in other books on other breeds.
This one is specific and filled with enough information to help you understand and care for the Welsh Terrier breed.
Book Description
A true breed classic, this book will feed Welsh Terrier enthusiasts in-depth information about this much-loved Terrier. This dog reflects the country of its origin with its determination and quirky personality. Bardi, a leading authority on Welsh Terriers, examines all the joys of owning Welsh, including a history of the breed, prominent kennels, and an in-depth look at the personality of this breed.
Customer Reviews:
The best dog-book I've ever read........1999-04-25
Even it's not written in my own language, as I speak Portuguese, reading this book was like having the author with me on a very nice talk about Welsh Terriers , talking about her experiences, and teaching me about this wonderfull breed.
Destined to be a classic.......1999-02-20
From Reviewers Bookwatch--February 1999 "Welsh Terriers are known to be a quirky and independent, and Bardi McLennan brings these delightful canines to life in THE WELSH TERRIER LEADS THE WAY. The book is destined to be a classic reference on the breed. Mclennan looks at the development of the breed, the land where it was created, and the purpose for which it was bred. The WELSH TERRIER touches on all aspects of owning a welsh terrier, from history to breeding, from prominent kennels to whelping a litter. Comprehensive, insightful, authoritative, THE WELSH TERRIER is essential for all who own or aspire to own this remarkable animal"
This book is destined to be the new bible of the breed.......1999-01-26
From the Rocky Mountain Welsh Terrier Club Newsletter..." Bardi's authorial voice is quite clear in this wonderfull new book. It's not just a dry-as-dust recitation of pedigrees, but a lively, affectionate introduction to the breed and to the people both here and abroad who have loved and safeguarded it over the years. There are many pictures of show champions both new and old. This is not one of those dog books which makes the dog sound perfect for everybody, but a realistic treatment of a dog we'll all recognize.
Historically Informative........1999-01-19
The Welsh Terrier Lead The Way has a good handle on the historical aspects of the dog. However the lack of quality photos distracts from the beauty of the breed and the many wonderful characteristics are blurred by the black and white photos. The book contains many old photos from past champions and breeders but does not contain the in depth information that many people who are interested in the breed are looking for. If you are interested primarily in the dogs history then this is a good book for you.
A Tour de Force for Welsh Terrier Lovers.......1998-10-30
The author gives us the accumulated wisdom of many years as an outstanding breeder and authority on the breed. The books serves both the novice and experienced breeder well. Also seems intended to introduce the general public to Welsh Terriers and turn them into breed enthusiasts.Portland, OR

Book Description
Focus is on the best of the best examples from a massive line of pieces, grouped by decoration, rather than mold identification. Pieces which have popular decorations and those which are quite prevalent and readily found are presented. A mold identification chart, a floral identification chart, and artists' signatures are included.Current values. AUTHORBIO: Mary Frank Gaston's study of antiques began during the mid-1960s when she and her husband lived in New England which is so rich in our nation's history. She has authored many titles, with subjects including Flow Blue China, Blue Willow, English China, Limoges Porcelain, R.S. Prussia, Antique Brass Copper, Knowles, Taylor Knowles China, and Art Deco. Most of her books have seen multiple editions and/or volumes, as her books are extremely popular among collectors. REVIEW: This book features selected photos from the author's first, second, and third editions of her popular R.S. Prussia series, now out of print, as well as brand new photographs. This book focuses on R.S. Prussia china made by the Reinhold Schlegelmilch factories in Suhl and Tillowitz. This edition takes a different approach than her previous books, in that it uses the many themes of decoration when grouping photos.
Customer Reviews:
Worthy Addition to a Distinguished Series.......2002-04-23
My interest in R.S. Prussia porcelain was kindled recently by researching a chocolate pot that had belonged to my great aunt, leading to my discovery of Mary Frank Gaston's scholarly and fascinating first and second books on the subject, now out of print. Regrettably, I have been unable to locate a copy of her Third Series book. But I was hooked--and a quick perusal of "Popular Lines" immediately compelled me to purchase this volume. I have been amply rewarded. Historical material from the earlier books has been carried forward and updated, along with indispensable information on mold and pattern identification and an educational chapter on fakes, repairs, and reproductions. Estimated values are helpfully provided in the caption for each illustration. Not only does this beautifully illustrated volume supplement Gaston's earlier books, but it serves quite admirably as a stand-alone reference for the novice. A highly enjoyable, key feature of this edition is the grouping of illustrations by decoration, such that one can view, all in one place, a variety of different items that are similarly decorated. A cautionary note: this volume concentrates solely on R.S. Prussia, so that E.S. and other allied marks illustrated in the earlier books are omitted here. The serious student of R.S. Prussia might want to acquire the entire series of Gaston books. In summary, this handsome and informative reference work on R.S. Prussia porcelain serves as an excellent distillation of, and supplement to, its predecessors.
Nice Resource.......2001-08-02
This book provides lots of great color pictures, not only of R.S. Prussia items but of the marks. It also has a section on reproductions. This is a very well done resource.
New to RS? Buy it!! Old hand? Nothing you don't already know.......1999-06-26
If you don't have Gaston's Vol 1-3 (now out of print), this is a must buy. Sadly, it is limited to Reinhold's red mark items (both marked and unmarked)and contains no new molds or decorations. A change of format for a Gaston book as items are divided by decoration rather then type of object. Values are with each photo, a nice change! For the experiences collector there is nothing new, but if you don't have the first three books by Gaston, you will find much to appreciate in this volume. Avid "red mark" collectors will enjoy having so much, all in one source.

Customer Reviews:
Outdated & Basic.......2005-09-24
I found this book to be full of extremely outdated, basic information. Certainly not worth the price I paid. There was no useful information about what's going on in the spa industry today or in the last several years. Do not waste your money.
I can't believe it...........2004-06-02
What a desillusion.... At that price the book should at least have color photos!
The quality of the printed material, to me, rates a 2.5.
The rest a 4. Average a 3 star.
