Book Description
The odd couple of detection—the brilliant but cranky detectives of London’s Peculiar Crimes Unit—return in a tense, atmospheric new thriller that keeps you guessing until the final page. This time Bryant and May are up against a series of bizarre murders that defy human understanding—and a killer no human hand may be able to stop.
A mysterious stranger in outlandish Edwardian garb defaces a painting in the National Gallery. Then a guest at the exclusive Savoy Hotel is fatally bitten by what appears to be a marshland snake. An outbreak of increasingly bizarre crimes has hit London—and, fittingly, come to the attention of the Peculiar Crimes Unit.
Art vandalism, an exploding suspect, pornography, rat poison, Gilbert and Sullivan musicals, secret societies…and not a single suspect in sight. The killer they’re chasing has a dark history, a habit of staying hidden, and time itself on his side. Detectives John May and Arthur Bryant may have finally met their match, and this time they’re really working against the clock….
Customer Reviews:
A quaint mystery of the old school type.......2007-02-28
Although the book is a recent release (relatively), the plot takes place in 1973, which Fowler uses to good effect in creating atmosphere. Bryant & May, the main characters, are old-school English detectives in charge of the Peculiar Crimes Unit - in other words, crimes that are odd or unusual. I enjoyed the book and enjoyed following them as they trailed their criminal and tried to figure out how and why the murders were occurring. A great find for people fond of old-school mysteries and good atmospheric reading.
Far fetched solution, indeed........2006-10-13
Publisher's Weekly indicates that readers may be disappointed by the far-fetched solution, and that's a kind way to put the ending -- tying the Savoy Hotel desk clerk who only happened to witness the first death, back into the heart of the whole murderous mechanism -- that yanks the long arm of coincidence right out of its socket. In a mystery, I like at least a sporting chance to spot the murderer and the mechanism; here, no such luck. What happened to the fabled British sense of fair play?
Near Top of the Line, with VerySlight Flaws!!.......2006-06-20
Yes, this is mostly a wonderful, realistic mystery where members of a family and 1800's guild end up dead for no apparent reason in 1973 England. Some fine characterisations, scenery, and 1970's culture, and classy writing throughout! Not to mention the intriguing interaction between the 2 eccentirc detectives in a new Crimes Unit. There is the by-now customary lack of fear among those linked with the victims, which seems very unrealistic, plus family squabbling that gets to be irritating. My main complaint is the solution, though interesting, seems somewhat over-inventive. Nonetheless, a very pleasant, interesting , and unique whodunnit that aproaches five-stars, but does not quite succeed
Revisiting "Darkest Day".......2006-06-16
It would have been nice if somewhere, anywhere, in this book -- the copyright date, the title page, a note to the reader, anything -- it might have been mentioned that this is little more than a reworking of an early Bryant/May mystery, "Darkest Day". I always enjoy Fowler's books, but not so much that I need to buy them twice over.
Strange, Fascinating Mystery.......2006-05-17
Arthur Bryant and John May are the odd and perfectly mismatched detectives of London's peculiar crimes unit. A lawyer dies of a snake bite in the Savoy lobby, an eccentric aristocrat blows up on the tube, a starved tiger eats a family in their own home. Methodical May and Unconventional Bryant must track down a mystery rooted in Victorian superstition and class distinctions that are causing bizarre deaths in the present. Impossible to put down, a thinking person's mystery, full of deeply satisfying history and folklore, not just mutilated bodies like most mysteries nowadays.

Book Description
14-year-old Shichiri Tasuke is your ordinary junior high school student...well, sort of. His life is a little lonely since his family has left him alone at home while they go travel the world over, only occasionally sending letters and postcards. This lonely and uneventful life gets shaken up the day Taksuke receives the magical Shitenrin ring from his father in China. From out of this ring appears Shao Lin, the Guardian Angel Getten. She proclaims that she is here to protect her new master from all forms of danger and will stay by his side forever. But having been locked in the Shitenrin for hundreds of years, Shao knows nothing of the modern world. Sometimes it seems she can cause more problems than she solves. Now, Taksuke must figure out how to handle this beautiful, naive and magical angel.

Better than you may think.......2004-05-25
While Getten is a shonen (boys') manga (published in the monthly Raijin comics magazine), it has the potential to attract female fans as well. The cute art and slight romance may turn off some of the more hardcore male readers, but the comedy and depth of the overall product is enough to make up for all that. This is one of my favorite series in the entire mag. If you're still wary about trying this one out, try buying a copy of Raijin and seeing for yourself (It's cheaper than the graphic novel, at least).
It's the manga version of I Dream Of Jeannie.......2003-11-26
Tasuke recieves an ancient Chinese ring in the mail from his archeologist father. In it lies the beautiful moon guardian Shaolin, who after being accidently summonned by Tasuke declares herself to be his willing slave and protector. Shao can summon up various spirits to perform all her tasks and protect her master. Trying to introduce her to Tasuke's schoolmates prooves a little challenging, and various rivals keep showing up to try and win Shao's affections too. Plus, the arrival of the sun guardian Ruuan just adds even more problems to the mix. Also known as Mamotte Shugogetten or Heavenly Moon Guardian, this manga is a pretty good clone of I Dream Of Jeannie and should appeal to fans of stories with a magical girlfriend as the main character.
Not exactly what it may seem like..........2003-10-25
I'll admit that I first thought this was just Oh My Goddess! and a bunch of other character designs mixed in. But after reading this, I found that you really can't judge a manga just by its first chapter.
Basically, the starting story is very traditional. A lonely boy "just happens to be pure of heart" and a magical girl (who has no idea what the present world is like) comes out to keep him company and defend him from the evils of the world.
The characters are quite likeble and aren't hard to remember. The names are written in Japanese style (last name first), which is nice, but I have to say that the appearance of many characters aren't very original. Getten, especially, gave me a strong reminder of Beldandy from Oh My Goddess. However, Getten (also known as Shao Lin) does pick up on the detiails of the modern world fairly quickly, before it becomes tiring. She also makes decisions of her own, such as coming back out of the amulet to protect the main character from the lonliness he has inside, and buying a book as a present for a new friend. The main character is not picked on in school or anything of the sort- just a very average student. Shoko Yamanobe, who is first introduced as the "most delinquent girl in the school" was one of my favorite characters. Also, there does not seem to be one of those annoying girls who are always chasing ater the main character.
The artwork is quite nice for a debut series, even if it isn't quite as detailed as CLAMP or Arina Tanemura. The artist uses a sufficient amount of screentones and just the right number of frames to produce a very cute manga that never feels cluttered. The little fairy that sends messages for Shao Lin is also a favorite among many of my friends.
The translations are done pretty well. I appreciate the fact that it has been left in right-to-left format (companies are finally starting to have more respect for the eastern was of reading things...). The little circles with the numbers in them are a little annoying, but they are mostly unintrusive and can generally be ignored. The suggested rating on the back cover is ages 13+, but it probably deserves a 7+ rating.
Guardian Angel Getten may not be for everyone, but you should atleast take a look at this manga (unless you absolutely can't stand cute things). This is definitely something that is more on the cute side, but it's something fun that deserves a look.
yay!.......2003-10-11
While at first this appeared to be nothing but a ripoff of Oh My Goddess, I was pleased to see it took an original turn afterwards. Shao Lin, the guardian angel, has a ring that can turn out all kinds of 'star spirits' to help her do stuff. These are usually cute, especially the telepathy one, Rishu.
If however, you are one of those stupid people who think just because a manga slightly resembles another manga in the slightest way then it is a ripoff and you hate it forever, you might feel that way about this. But to normal, good people, this is for you.
The only thing that REALLY ticked me off was the translating company, 'RaiJin',put annoying little numbers in the frames to show the stupider people the order in which to read the frames, EVEN THOUGH there is a guide in the back of the book. If they were going to do that, they should have only done it on the first page...or not at all!!!

Customer Reviews:
The best self esteem text I've read so far.......2007-05-17
This book was recommended to me when I was studying and it's a text I seem to always go back to and use especially when working with clients who have concerns about self esteem. The book is easy to read and provides well explained practical strategies you can implement yourself or teach others. It's worth the price if you want to use with clients and makes a great self help book.
Self-Esteem: How to get there........2007-05-17
I purchased this book after my therapist shared the chapter on the "Pathological Critic" with me. I have not yet finished the book, but it does recommend that you take it slowly, not rushing through. This book makes a lot of very logical and valid points. The introductory chapter does stress that it's important to actually get out your paper and pencil and DO the exercises. It's the thing we all hate to do the most, but I've pushed myself to do them and I'm definitely seeing a difference. It's amazing to realize how much I mentally berate myself. Once you find awareness of it, the next step is to stop that behavior and begin finding your positive points. Easier said than done, but this easy-to-read book is helping me along the way.
I will mention that I have been seeing a therapist for about a year and a half and I must credit that for a lot of my improvement, but I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is truly motivated to improve the way they feel about themselves. It's co-written by a Ph.D., but doesn't get bogged down with a lot of medical/mental health jargon that laypeople don't understand. Every point that the authors mention does not apply to me, but it is clearly impossible to tailor a book of this nature to any one person. I find, however, that I'm able to glean good points from nearly every example.
If you want to feel better, get the book, take your time reading it, doing the exercises AS YOU GO, and start taking the steps to being a better, mentally-healthier you!
Best book on this topic so far..........2007-02-18
This is the best book of many that I have found offering tools to build ones self esteem.
Great book for those who are ready to work hard to make a change.......2007-02-03
This is a well-written and very organized book that explores self esteem and how to further develop it. It is based on the principles of cognitive therapy which have proven to be effective clinical tools over and over in many people's practices around the world.
The book is loaded with useful exercises that illustrate the concept and show you how to apply them to bring about change. However, you really need to do ALL of them faithfully to get results. Many people who approach this work don't want to make that kind of time investment. However, it's a book you must do and not just read to get the results required.
In short, the book looks at examining largely unconscious thoughts and unexamined assumptions about reality. It shows you how to challenge these dysfunctional beliefs and how to use compassion to look more deeply so your psychological defense mechanisms don't get in the way.
This book is for people who are really serious about seeking change. Some sections are dense with concepts and it's really a book you need to engage with in order to reap the benefits. There are lighter versions of this kind of content. However, in my experience it takes a hard push to overcome our past conditioning.
Well worth reading.......2007-02-02
I was so shocked to see how this book hit the nail on the head with me....it was so "eye opening". Really straight forward. I liked it very much. Just did not bother to read the last section because it dealt with children and I have no reason to read that section. However, it is is as well put together as the rest of the book it would be good.

Great Party Item.......2007-01-11
I loved this book because the recipes are simple, yet it offers some new twists.
Great recipes and great design.......2006-04-11
We've purchased a number of martini and other drink recipe books before coming across this one. One of the best things about this book is its spiral design. It lays flat, which means you don't have to try to hold it open or prop it up while mixing up a drink. Can't tell you how frustrating it is trying to whip up a martini or other stylish drink while trying to hold a book open! This book has great recipes, both old and new, is organized by type of liquor and even gives you ideas for the best glass to serve your masterpieces in. I just purchased another copy to give as a wedding/shower gift for a young couple.
They even got the Singapore Sling right!.......2006-01-16
This bartender guide is both colorful and full of photos. It's not also reasonable organized but has color codes for the different types of drinks (Gin, Vodka, etc.) to make it easy to navigate the cocktails. Also, I was happy to see a bartender guide that has the CORRECT Singapore Sling ingredients listed. So many others don't even have the real one used by the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. One thing that makes sense about this book, is that its spiral bound a real plus!
Thoroughly informative guide for the first-timer or the enthusiast.......2005-09-20
I found a used copy of this book at a local bookstore, and bought it out of sheer curiosity. I knew nothing prior to mixing drinks or even how to use a shaker, and was thoroughly amused at how drinking enthusiasts around the world could come up with 780 unique -- and sometimes downright perverse and ridiculous -- names for the world's finest cocktails.
There are two things that I love about this book -- it's brilliantly arranged as a reference guide, and it's geared for both the entry-level hobbyist and the more experienced enthusiast in mind.
Unlike many other bartender guides that are tiny paperbacks or printed on thicker paper that is harder to flip-through, Salvatore Calabrese's book is built like a true index in mind: it's a hard-cover with spiral-bound pages inside printed on glossy color paper. The 780 drinks are divided into logical categories (brandy, rum, wine, vodka, shooters, punches, nonalcoholic, etc.) and each drink's mixing instructions are designed to be read in less than 30 seconds. As a quick reference, I have not seen a book that is better written with clarity and brevity in mind.
Any book I'm willing to pay for as an introduction into a hobby needs to me interested with the history, the basics on how-tos, and the fine science of becoming an enthusiast. The book's opening chapters cover everything from tools & equipment, glassware, and bar terminology to flavors & garnishes, proper techniques for juicing limes, and how to properly use ice!
Nearly every single recipe includes a brief history as to where the naming scheme caming from, and there's some description to the regional origins of certain spirits and bases as well.
I'm not planning on becoming a professional bartender, but if I were going to, I'd imagine this text would easily be one of the required reads and "keeper" books for someone truly interested in pursuing a long-term education into the fine art of drink mixing.

this book is awesome...lots of pics, easy to follow instructions, everything you need

everything you need to know.......2007-08-09
This book was amazing! I have purchased many books on seahorses and yours was the most knowledgeable and understanding with great tips. Thank you so much!
A good reference .......2007-05-30
This book is a nice, thorough, easy to understand, reference for the beginner. Short, well-organized with pictures. Not very detailed for the experienced marine aquariest.
Glad I bought it, but not as complete as I'd hoped........2007-03-27
I'm so glad this book is available and it will be a regularly referenced book in my library. I missed having an illustration that showed the anatomy of seahorses, however, when I was looking at one of my new dwarf seahorses anal fin yesterday, thinking it was a parasite (doh). I had to get on the internet to see an anatomy illustration. There are lots of photos of healthy seahorses, but none of what diseases look like, etc. (Although there is one of hydroids). There are no photos of tank set-ups either. I guess mainly it's the illustrations that are lacking in my opinion. But, lots of kudos & thanks to Alisa Abbott for her research and for sharing it with us, saving us from the things she learned the hard way.
Very complete.......2006-08-05
This touches all the bases. Very informational, but easy to read. If you want to own dwarf seahorses, get and read this book BEFORE you buy them! I wish I had!
EXCELLENT BOOK!.......2006-01-11
I purchased some seahorses, foolishly, when I had no information. The pet shop helped some but no one knew much. I purchased 3 books on the internet on seahorses and this was the only one that was ENJOYABLE reading! Very informative, factual, lots of good information and insight. Give her 10 stars! My tank became infested with aptasia (bad stuff), something her book told me all about and how to treat. Thanks!

I'd forgotten.......2001-09-08
How much I loved this book. How many of the designs I had made.
I'm not sure I like her cats, but, the dragon, some of the birds are wonderful.
I think her original premise (these are lots easier than the kinds of curves/blocks made with Drunkard's Path) and her way of working (only seamstresses, as far as I can tell, really get any benefit out of the million pin way of putting curves together, they ease, in quilter's curves the sewing lines are identical in length) are both wrong, and I didn't look any farther into her books for a good long time.
That said, I used a quarter of the dragon pattern for a show quilt once (it didn't win anything, to no one's surprise, but I still like it), I've done lots of her birds.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

It is timely that Christopher White has chosen to revise his study of Rembrandt's etching 30 years after it was first published. This second edition of what quickly became an authoritative text incorporates critical reaction to its predecessor as well as the continuing scholarship of the Rembrandt Research Project. There have been 16 catalogues raisonnés of the artist's prints and innumerable exhibition publications, making his etchings the most catalogued works of art in the world, but few other books have considered "how" as well as "what" and set the works in a historical and personal context. White, a leading authority on 17th-century Dutch and Flemish art who edited Rembrandt by Himself, is the ideal man for the job. The line "Would you like to see my etchings?" has never sounded so appealing.
White divides his attention into six considerable chapters: technique, history, portraiture, genre, nudes, and landscape. The most valuable, and groundbreaking, is the first, in which his explanations of Rembrandt's working methods and techniques give the illusion of peering over the artist's shoulder, such is the vividness with which details of biting, drypoint, and choice of papers come alive in his accessible and learned prose. The patient care invested in not just assembling but attractively presenting the images mirrors the attentions of the etcher, who undertakes a painstaking process with a slow-burning excitement, always with the uncertainty of the end product--something for which Rembrandt's temperament seemed entirely suited. In his later life he abandoned his habit of careful pre-planning and allowed the means to influence the ends. This flexibility was entirely characteristic of Rembrandt as an artist across the board; never afraid to experiment, he had reasons for working that were as pragmatic as they were visionary, and prints were the most successful reproductive propagandists for their maker's art. White's book, as luxurious to handle as to study or peruse, is still the definitive standard by which evaluation of Rembrandt's etchings and their relationship with his drawings and paintings must be judged. It is definitively art history at its most rewarding and enthralling. --David Vincent, Amazon.co.uk

With eloquence and deep insight, Christopher White analyzes the technical, stylistic, and iconographic features of selected etchings, traces their close relationship with the artist`s drawings, and reveals how Rembrandt made the medium uniquely his own.
Customer Reviews:
Great book, especially in terms of graphics reproductions.......2000-12-11
The strongest quality about this book is probably its graphical reproductions. A luxurious smorgasbourg of reproductions of Rembrandt's etchings provide a thorough, comprehensive display of Rembrandt's mysterious artistic wizardry. These reproductions are also of amazing quality: the printing is extremely sharp and crisp, imparting a 3-dimensional feel to the etchings that is absolutely critical for bringing them out. The quality of the graphical reproductions is really considerably superior to the high-quality reproductions given in the less expensive Dover edition of Rembrandt's etchings.
The text is also readable and interesting, although mainly I paid attention to the etchings and graphics .... Of particular interest (to me, at least) is White's explanation of the etching process, including a full-color photo of one of Rembrandt's surviving copper etchings of a reclining nude.
Another nice thing about this book in general is that it was not only written by one who is fascinated by and an expert in etching, but also one who had worked in museums and had special access to these etchings for photography purposes, which may account for their reproductive excellence. It's a big, glossy, deluxe coffee-table book that's worth the price.
One of Rembrandts greatest book.......2000-04-27
If you are doing a research paper like I am on Rembrandt u will find this book very helpful....it tells u about his life and all of the trouble he goes through and the different paintings he painted it goes into a great detail on just about everything u would need to know about the great painter REMBRANDT!
