When I dove into this story I found myself tumbling in waves of confusion. I'm still not certain what the beginning of the book had to do with anything, but the deeper I went, the more amused I become. Dorsey's characters are lively and indeed addictive. The story itself is a bit awkward, but by the time I got to the end, I was not at all disappointed.

When our leading man, Serge decides he's getting married, the fact that he has no woman in his life is a minor techincality. There are ups and there are downs. There is romance and there is Coleman...oy Coleman. And Dorsey's fans won't be at all surpised by the level of murder and mayhem.

Serge's unique personality traits carry the readers through the story--more than the plot--but Dorsey's talent as a writer offers paydirt when almost everything is cleared up in a zinger of an ending.

Kicking back in the Keys.......2006-08-22

Dorsey's seventh outing with Florida obsessed Serge A. Storms and stoner pal Coleman settles in for a breezy time in the Keys. Serge this time decides it's time to get married and meets new (and dangerous) characters in the Keys.

Being a longtime Florida resident, Dorsey knows his locale. Some fans of this series say this book was slow-paced, I disagree. Dorsey captured the feeling of being in the Keys as it is. People come to the Keys to either fish, dive or drink. So I thought the pacing was appropriate.

With slick, stylish prose and his ingenous way of wrapping a plot around the high jinks and a few barbed comments about marriage, Dorsey keeps this series fresh.

Return of the Coleman.......2006-05-09

Latest in the paperback of the Dorsey based Florida misadventures. Torpedo Juice brings another journey into the event of Serge A Storms. Coleman makes his return to the story (after having previously died), Serge seeks his next level in life by getting married (to a librarian), there's Detective Gus who is demeened by his ex-wife at every turn, then there's clowns, a Scarface addict, and the No Name Pub. Our trip takes us into the Florida Keys as Serge looks to reinvent himself and seek out more Florida history. Once again, several sub-stories come together in the end and anti-hero, serial killer Serge is in the middle. How Dorsey gets away with making a serial killer into the central character you enjoy is a little whacked in its own right but that's part of the fun in this series. It's totally wrong but that helps make it all the more humorously enjoyable.

I love this series but this one takes a step back from the others in the series, for me. Others will love it, I found it a welcome addition, just not as frantic as most of the others.

In my opinoin, The Sword of the Dragon Master was one of the better books I have read. Now, I have read quite a few books, so that's saying something. With the book's fast-paced action and gripping plot, it was nearly impossible to put it down and do something else.

In many ways, I found this book to be up to par(and in some ways superior to) with other great books such as Eragon, The Lord of the Rings, Redwall, and King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

Overall, this was an excellent story depicting the epic battle between good and evil and the timeless choice between duty and self.

Gave it to my mom for the holidays. She made a few of the recipes contained within it. A cheese fondue: a little too salty. A Hot oil and various sauces: 1. peanut=pretty good. 2. some kind of garlic dip=very good. 3. A wasabi soy sauce sauce=amazing. Also made a chocolate Kahlua dessert fondue=Quite delicious, especially with the pound cake she made to dip in it.
Lots of recipes, so if you come across one that's sub-par there are plenty of others that are great.

Disappointing contents.......2002-03-20

I was drawn to this book because someone said they learned a lot from it even though he had a bichon already (like me). What I learned that was new was almost nil (and I haven't read a lot). Besides, the whole second half of the book is the annoying "doggie boiler-plate" info that seemingly gets plopped into all these kinds of books, and is written to be generic for all dog types. What I really want is a book all about bichons, and one that goes beyond confirming that they are great, smart, sensitive, loveable and loving dogs (which they most certainly are!)
