If you are familiar with the Dalziel and Pascoe books this book will really surprise you. It will also frighten you. What if it really could happen? The heroes and the villains are very believable. It makes for a true thriller. I enjoyed it.

I've read all of the Dragon Circle Trilogy and am entranced with the trilogy even now. I thought it was well-written and I found the characters easy to follow. Each character has unique personality traits and so in the end you could have never guessed what happened to the characters.
If you get confused with who's who there is a list of characters before you begin reading it. I never had to refer to that though, I'd look at it for entertainment.
If you like fantasy I suggest you read this, but read the first two before you read this one, otherwise you'd be confused.

When I first read the book, it took me alwhile to actually understand what was going on. There are way to may characters to keep up with, the action parts are very dull and short, but the story is deep and emotional. You have to reread most of the time, and back track after a few chapters. Overall, the book is entertaining but confusing.

it took a little while to get hooked reading these three books, but when i did - i did. i would love to see how the previous characters in the book evolved. i hope there will be another book in the series ;)

I loved this book, even though it took me a while to read it.. well cause I lost it =P, but I started off on this one strangely and I managed to pick up on stuff fast. I'd recomend this book to anyone who likes fantasy type stuff. Great book!
obnoxiously bad.......1998-09-04
This entire series is ridiculous and insults my intelligence. I can scarcely follow the characters development, for they seemingly alter fundamental personality traits at the drop of a hat. The entire juvenile plot is built like some fifth grade fairy tale, with random plot elements built in willy-nilly like the contraption of some insane inventor's apprentice. I can't believe I sat through the first two, and half of the third one. Stay away.

Dissappointing.......2007-05-08
I have so enjoyed Christians & Mona Lisa's tapes on Intuitive Healing, I thought that this would be just as good. After listening to 2 of the CD's I switched them off, they were so full of negative stuff, that someone having a baby for the first time, would be so fearful of the process. I know when having my own first child, I stopped reading the information, simply becasue we are "wired" to think the worst, instead of what we need to think "It's OK"

Some good advice, but a lot of misleading information..........2007-03-11
Christiane Northrup is not a psychologist, as another reviewer commented, but she sure tries to act like one. And she uses her own life experience as her only basis for many of her claims. If this book were just a memoir, I think I would have less of a problem with it. Much of the health advice in this book is either questionable in safety and value (such as consuming large amounts of soy, which is increasingly being shown to be dangerous, or not vaccinating your children at all) or is obvious to anyone with common sense (don't make an issue about how much your daughter eats, eat regular meals with the family, blah, blah). And all of the talk about menstrual cycles and celebrating your femininity and kundalini rising really rubbed me the wrong way. I am all for questioning traditional medicine and healing yourself in natural ways, but I need real science to back things up, not anecdotes from "intuitive healers" (aka psychics.) However, here and there sprinkled throughout the book there are interesting bits of information and interesting perspectives on the mother-daughter relationship. You just have to be a very critical reader while going through this book, and I definitely don't accept Dr. Northrup's authority unquestioningly.

My son is getting interested in cooking and I wanted a simple cookbook for him. This one is filled with how to be fit articles and some recipes. I wish there were more of just the recipes and without wheat germ type substance in them.

this book is wonderful!!! i have a five year-old who loves helping in the kitchen and a two year-old (and a husband) who are both realatively picky eaters and this book pleases all. the recipes are completely healthy, which i love...and delicious to boot!! each is rated east, medium, or difficult (kid-wise), which is very helpful. the chapters are divided by the part or the body/body function that is most applicable. each chapter includes simple science experiments to bring another angle to this books education value. i have more than a dozen cook books, and this is the one i keep coming back too. i love it so much i am getting copies for my nieces and nephews for christmas!!

My picky eaters enjoyed the Breakfast No-Bake granola bars, the Awesome Banana Berry Pancakes and the Creamy, Dreamy Yogurt Orange-Banana Frozen pops. The 3rd book in the Excelling at Dog Agility can be described with one word: FANTASTIC!
Simmons-Moake wastes no time getting into the good stuff, and starts out this very advanced book with advancing your weave-pole skills. She covers difficult and "impossible" weave entries and how to train them the right way... and succeed! Moving on to the pause table in the next chapter, she explains the concepts behind a perfect pause table performance, namely teaching your dog to "grip the table," get an immediate sit/down, and correct the perpetually sliding pooch.
Other than the weaves and table, the rest of the book really focuses on the handler and developing his/her skills. Learn to "layer" courses designed to trip you up (literally!), perform precise pinwheels and super serpentine sequences. Improve your distance handling with this book, so that gambles are no longer a gamble!
Some really great things about this book:
· Extremely advanced skill taught in an understandable way
· Home practice tips and exercises
· A section on evaluating your handling and training skills, and addressing the dog who is "over drilled"
· The MOST helpful Problem Q&A section I have ever seen for problems ranging from the dog being too fast/slow to control issues and more!
Though this book is definitely not for the beginner and will probably require a professional instructor's guidance, it is a great way to increase your knowledge on the subject and improve your handling skills. Like the two previous books, this is an THE way to achieve excellence, yet a very enjoyable read. Kudos to Jane Simmons-Moake for creating the best books on dog agility out there!
Excelling at Dog Agility -- Excellent!.......2003-10-10
Simmons-Moake's book offers excellent sequences to practice, and down-to-earth practical information on how to correct problems if something goes wrong. There are many books on the market now about Agility, but none measure up to Moake's. This book is NOT for the beginner, but rather for one training at the AKC Excellent level, NADAC Elite level, or USDAA Masters level.
Excelling at Dog Agility - Book 3: Advanced Skills Training.......2003-07-02
In the years since Jane Simmons-Moake's three agility tapes hit the market, I have attended a bunch of seminars held by many different trainers. While I have learned from them all, I still feel that the information Jane presents in her tapes and their companion books is the most basic, easy to understand and to follow instruction around. What Jane promotes is common sense handling that is feasible for all handlers to achieve, no matter their age, ability, background or breed of dog.
The first two books and tapes in the "Excelling at Dog Agility" series cover obstacle training and sequence training. The third book, which was just published in 2002, is subtitled 'Advanced Skills Training.' As was the case with the other two books, a handy reference guide at the end of the book directs you to the place on the tape where the skills being discussed can be viewed. The advantage of having the book to refer to, in addition to the tapes, is that it beautifully diagrams the various practice maneuvers and presents some marvelous course designs for practicing each of the featured skills. As I scanned through the book I made mental note of the courses I wanted to try. They looked like so much fun!
The first topic addressed in this book is advanced weave pole skills. In watching Jane run her own dogs I have always marveled at her ability to send her dogs into the weaves regardless of where the weave entrance was in relation to her. This is a vital skill for anyone involved in USDAA or NADAC gambler classes in addition to often being the difference between a Q and an NQ on any course.
This chapter carefully details the steps that will lead to a dog who doesn't need babysitting on the weaves. It also includes a number of suggestions on how to proof your dog so he will remain in the weaves, regardless of your enthusiastic praise or the distractions at a show.
Advanced pause table skills might not seem necessary once your dog has learned to get on the table, but could your dog handle a wet slippery table at top speed? Jane writes, "If you have not taught your dog to grip the top of the pause table to keep from sliding off, you have yet to address an important part of his training." Also included in this chapter are ideas on how to maintain the sit or down.
Two vital skills for anyone needing to make up for a slow dog or catch up with a fast one are the ability to (1) send and run and (2) layer. The first occurs when you send your dog to a jump or tunnel but you, the handler, continue to run ahead to where you need to be next. Layering is similar in that you send the dog to an obstacle while you run a more direct line to where you are headed, even if there is an obstacle between you and the dog.
Other topics addressed are obstacle discrimination, the 'get out' command, pinwheels, zig-zag rear crosses, 'heel and side' commands and advanced distance skills. The latter chapter includes a number of pages devoted to how one should prepare for gamblers.
Each chapter in the book starts with a section on 'How to Begin,' continuing with 'How to Progress,' interspersed with what to do 'if you have problems,' generously diagrammed so you can practice each of the skills you are trying to teach.
Finally, if you are one of those who lacks equipment at home and thinks it's sufficient to practice only once a week at class, Jane dispells that theory with a number of exercises you can work on when you're alone. Some you can do with no equipment at all; others are designed for those who have space for only one or two pieces of apparatus.
If you already own the first two books and tapes in this series, I'm sure I don't need to recommend that you run out and purchase this third. If you don't already own any of the "Excelling at Dog Agility" series of books and/or tapes, I would most certainly suggest that you add this to your wish list. Guaranteed, the instruction contained will help you progress.

Cynthia Yates is an inspiration for anyone that wants (or needs) to tighten their belts without feeling completely deprived. Her upbeat attitude and sense of humor make this a fun read. Her tips range from grocery shopping and cooking tips to gift giving to entertaining to big ticket items to maintaining things we already own, and more. This book has many good ideas that are easy to implement. Ms. Yates makes you stop and think how a lot of things we think of as necessary can be either done without or obtained in a more intelligent way. Nothing fancy here-just common sense and a well thought out approach to making it in a tight economy, especially helpful if you are new at scaling down. She is a Christian author who is quick to tell her readers that God comes first in her life, however her ideas work well for anyone who sees a need to get a grip on their spending. To fully benefit from this book be prepared to "roll up your sleeves."

This wonderful book has 100 (that's right, 100!) bathroom projects that you can do in your own home! The projects are divided into five chapters: Modern bathroom, Family bathrooms, Natural style, Nautical style and Country style. Each of the chapters is divided into four sections: Done in a Day (big projects), Quick Fix (small projects), Good Ideas (small decorating ideas - use of soaps, knickknacks, things like that) and Get the Look (large/whole room decorating ideas).
The projects themselves are great, each with a key that specifies how long the project is likely to take, the skill level required (difficult, medium or easy), materials needed, and step-by-step instructions. Accompanying all of this is a plethora of brightly colored pictures.
This is a wonderful book! It has everything from major undertakings down to quick things that will take you very little time. As it has so very many great ideas, I recommend it to everyone. If you are even thinking of redecorating your bathroom, then I highly recommend that you get this book!

I feel that this book is mis-categorized and inappropriatley titled. The description alleges that this book will provide "practical advise, the book guides readers through the steps, tricks and techniques needed to create a multitude of lighting atmospheres and unique decorative features for both interior and exterior spaces." This is not at all true. Unless you are a millionaire, Japanese boutique hotel designer, or avant-garde eccentric this book is not for you.
The first section provides examples of lighting schemes that are in no way practical - i.e. fancy built-ins from the homes of the very-well-to-do, a bathroom drenched in harsh neon-red light (I thought bathrooms were supposed to be soothing, not rage-inducing). The next section is basically a list of resumes from lighting design firms that would cost more to hire than the cost of my home.
This is followed by what amounts to a shopping cataolg of extremely over-priced, unavailable lighting pieces.
I was looking for ways to improve the lighting in my home, not by flying over some London-based designer, or spending $8000 on a chandelier the size of my couch. In addition to being inexcusably impractical, the book is poorly edited and produced. There are numerous descriptions for which there are no accompanying photos or illustrations; many descriptions accompany the wrong photo; and in one instance a sentence was cut off right in the middle, no punctutation or completion of thought.
If you cant read, but want to see pretty pictures of expensive stuff, buy this book.

Here is a pioneer exploration of a previously neglected genre of late-Meiji art: the type of handmade multicolor book frontispieces known as kuchi-e. Early European collectors assumed that the Japanese woodblock tradition came to an end in Western-tainted prints. Although many crudely colored prints of subjects such as steam trains and men in derby hats did flood the Japanese market, the works introduced in this readable volume make clear that there was another class of popular woodblock tradition unknown to foreigners that continued into the early twentieth century. In their examination of this late flowering of the woodblock print, the authors provide not only an introduction to a popular artistic tradition but also a new lens through which to view Japanese life at the end of the nineteenth century.

Fantastic Read.......2005-10-08
The more I read this book, the more I understood how important it was for the erstwhile military junta of the time to eliminate Dr. Kenure SAro-Wiwa. This book is a blinding shot in the eye for anyone who was in one way or the other called out for acts the author painstakingly makes the reader to personify. It delves into all manners of "human's inhuman to human," if I dare call it so. Read this, especially if you wish to know the state of the current Africa, using Nigeria as a backdrop, in relation to the rest of the world.

A Respledent Classic against imperial and local oppressors.......2000-08-27
This is a classic text that chronicles the degrading and dehumanizing process of intimidation of by a dictatorial regime embedded in repressive antics and deviously blood-thirsty. This book comes from the lived experience of Ken Saro-Wiwa, Nigeria's foremost environmentalist and literary writer. He, it was who led his Ogoni people to challenge the environmental degradation of their environment by the Anglo-Dutch Shell corporation through gas flaring, oil spillage and soil degeneration, and the exploiting gimmicks of a militarized centralist and thievery regime. In this work Saro-Wiwa, chronicles his role,in the evolution of the history of the struggles for relevance and records the methods of organization and mobilization of the Movement for the Survival of Ogoni People (MOSOP)into a vibrant, virulently vocal and highly feared movement. This work derived from the author's contact with the evil of human authority, hence it is a direct a product of his experiences with the malevolent human-evil-forces that were unlynched against him and the struggle. The expereinces reminisced here is just one of his many in the series of unwarranted detentions in the hand of the evil regimes of Ibrahim Babangida and Sani Abacha in unkempt cells of the Nigerian security apparatus in different cities of Nigeria. On another occassion- the detention from which he smuggled this book out to be printed- he would not come out alive. He would be "judicially murdered" by the junta whose guns were brought by the sweat of humble and victimized tax-payers like Ken- representative of repressed Nigerians- and from the money derived from oil that springs from underneath his Niger-Delta homeland-including his Ogoni group. Ken did not leave out the Nigerian Police and their inhumanity- dogs who devour the flesh of other dogs- in fact they act like "vulture." A loaded term in Ogoni parlance! This work goes to show the plight of minorities within such colonial contraptions as the Nigerian nation state, under the dominating rule of a northern hegemony and a limited military clique in collaboration with their favor and fund-questing (fat-bellied) civilian cronies. This goes to further prove the fact that colonialism subjugated many ethnic groups under a contraption that was never dialogued nor radically sanctioned.Is it any surprise that Somali, Rwanda, Burundi, Zaire, Sierra Leone have gone on ruptured by the thunders of machine guns! In this vein the book brings to the fore the problem of such political hypocrisy as such as the overtly caricatured Federalism which is practiced by the Nigerian government. In a way Ken Saro-Wiwa, credenced the fact that all ethnic nationalities must radically be allowed to shape their destiny and control their resources. Further, this book reveals the filthy environmental practices of the multinationals who without regards to safety measures and ecological ethics endanger the lives of people in the orgy for profit-making. Profit-making predominates in the psyche of the multinations in deterrence for the sanctity of the human life! Double business and ethical standards-one for Africa another for the West- in fact Ken calls this "environmental racism." This book is a resplendent classic, and it is essentially valuable for all those who want to educate themselves on one of the most forceful and feared Social, ethnic and environmental movements that has arisen in post-colonial Africa today. In fact, the book goes to show the courageous fights of minorities and social movements towards advocating and ensuring changes. Ken Saro-Wiwa its author was crudely exterminated with eight others on a farce of a trial- a militarized set-up tribunal of the despised tyrannt of Sani Abacha in 1995. Saro-Wiwa is dead but remains a living-dead, an ancestor of a sort for the many social movements that revolves around emphasizing rural development and sound environmental norms and sanctity for the community where companies are located that are emerging in Nigeria today, and it would not be an overstatement to add Africa. His ideas and views radiates and takes on flesh in this little book. Buy one today, read and digest it and realize what a portent book it is, and know why the author was most few by a modern day dictator, who feared men and women of ideas than he feared the men and women who hold the guns!
