Book Description
At his neighbor's Malibu beach house, Dr. Mark Sloan discovers the bullet-riddled bodies of an aspiring actress and Rick Kershaw, a Hollywood mega-producer. The police suspect Kershaw's wife. But when Sloan and his son investigate a local mob kingpin's involvement, Mark soon finds himself a prime suspect-while the real murderer is about to kill again.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent!!!.......2005-09-19
These Diagnosis Murder books are just as good as the TV series. My favorite so far was "The Death Merchant" (#2), but this one deserves 5 stars too. Even though Dr. Sloan was convinced from the beginning who the killer was, the book was full of suspense and even had a surprise ending. Also, the sub-plot turned out to be relevant to a memorable episode of the series. I thought the book did a good portrayal of the world of Hollywood and how it relates to the justice system. I was so sad when the series ended, and I am glad that Dr. Sloan is still solving murders!
No Secret Who Did It.......2004-12-30
This was a light, fun read, as were the past two in this series. The characters are so reminiscent of the TV series it's like watching the show all over again. And, even if you are not familiar with the Diagnosis Murder TV show, you will appreciate the characters. The story is about a double murder that takes place in Hollywood and involves movies stars and, of course, Mark Sloan. The only thing I didn't particularly like about this book was that we know who the murderer is immediately. Instead of trying to figure out whodunit, this is a `how did she do it' mystery. There is no secret as to the murderer, and that kind of left me wishing for more. Still looking forward to many more in this series though - the mystery is lighthearted, and the characters are funny.
Mark Sloan again battles a cagey and dangerous nemesis.......2004-11-08
But this time around, there appear to be TWO of them. While Dr. Sloan is relaxing at his beach front home, trying to paint the seascape view, four gunshots pierce the silence. He rushes to scene of the crime, which happens to be a house or two down the street, and finds a man and a woman evidently shot during a moment of passion. But something is not quite right with the blood spatter and Dr. Sloan begins to investigate, that's when the police arrive and the trouble begins. Making matters worse is the new administrator at Community General. The man seems to have some personal vendetta against Dr. Sloan. Author Lee Goldberg again mixes likable characters with a nifty mystery (more of a howdunnit than a whodunnit this time around) and pulls another entertaining book from the creative oven. Diagnosis Murder fans will no doubt be eager for more, recommended.
Entertainment on its best.......2004-09-05
I wish I could read the Diagnosis Murder novels once again as if it is the first time. Each novel is unique, has its own style, and is very easy to read, even if the reader hasn't heared about Diagnosis Murder before.
Mr. Goldberg knows perfectly how to facinate the reader, and how to lead him or her on the wrong way. It is really hard to put the novels aside before the end.
For those who know the show from TV, it is as if they are watching another episode.
Lee Goldberg has a loyal readership here in Germany, also in Switzerland and Austria, and we are very much looking forward for the next novels to come.
'The Shooting Script' - I couldn't believe that Mr. Goldberg can top 'The Death Merchant' - but he can!
A Great Book!!!.......2004-09-03
I loved the show and am completely in love with the books. This is a typical set up and great reprise of Dr. Sloan and his cohorts. A must read if you loved the series. A great way to continue to enjoy the series now that the tv show is gone.

Download Description
In 1971, veteran paperback editor Donald A. Wollheim left a job he had held for nearly two decades to embark on a venture that would change publishing history. With his wife, Elsie, he founded DAW Books, Inc., a family-owned publishing company, and the first book company ever devoted exclusively to science fiction and fantasy. And now, thirty years and over twelve hundred titles later, DAW remains a small, privately owned company still publishing the best in fantasy and science fiction.
What you hold in your hand is your invitation to DAW's 30th anniversary celebration. The stories in this volume (and its companion science fiction volume) appear in chronological order, based on the first time the author was published by DAW. Thus we are truly honored to begin our fantasy volume with an original story by Andre Norton, author of the very first DAW book. Following Andre are stories by World Fantasy Award-winning author Michael Shea, and British Fantasy Award-winner Tanith Lee. From historical fantasy by Melanie Rawn, to a slyly humorous autobiographical tale from Mercedes Lackey, to an evocative and beguiling preview of a new fantasy world from Jennifer Roberson, to a magician's take on split personality from Tanya Huff, to a new Nightfall story from Mickey Zucker Reichert, to a hauntingly memorable novella from Michelle West, and many more, come join this celebration!
Customer Reviews:
Worth the Money, Even New!.......2003-06-30
I was surprised by how much I liked this book. I have read oodles of Mercedes Lackey and like it as light, comforting reading. But I'm running out of her Valdemaran titles, which are my favorites, and I hoped this book would give me some new authors to peruse. Michelle West's The Memory of Stone is worth the book by itself. I suppose that the book could make you feel like an outsider to some of the authors' worlds presented within, but I felt that almost all of the stories were easy to get a handle on and great fun to read. If you want serious reading, it's probably not the best choice, but if you want to be seriously entertained, I recommend it highly!
Great for Fans of These Authors.......2003-06-10
I read a great deal of fantasy. But, since Iým middle aged, it tends to not be of the Young Adult sort. I prefer fantasy thatýs more literary, more sophisticated, and often, darker. In other words, not the kind thatýs full of Dragons, Sorcerers, Heirs to the Throne, Good Versus Evil, etc.
In terms of sophistication, this anthology was a disappointment to me. I can, however, see that it might appeal to those who do prefer Young Adult fantasy. But thereýs another problem. Most of the authors have apparently been writing about the same ýworldsý for years. Most of stories are set in the authorsý worlds. Many stories purport to fill readers in on some unexplained aspect of some other novel, or are jokes about characters obviously well known to fans.
In other words, many of the stories are not only written for fans of these authors, but do not stand well on their own. As a non-fan, I was usually rather bored, somewhat mystifiedýand not intrigued enough to hunt up any of the authorsý other publications.
A very good anthology.......2002-11-22
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of its founding, DAW books published two anthologies; one of new science fiction stories, and the other of new fantasy stories, all by celebrated authors (including Andre Norton, Tanith Lee, Larry Dixon, and many more). This anthology of fantasy stories has eighteen stories, all of which are of at least very good quality. Some of these stories are comedic, while others are deadly serious. Most of them revolve around goddesses, or women with magical power.
I like Christopher Stasheff's Coronach of the Bell, found Mickey Zucker Reichert's Nightfall's Promise gripping, thought that Tanya Huff's We Two May Meet was both funny and thought provoking, liked Larry Dixon's A Perfect Day in Valdemar, and absolutely loved Michelle West's The Memory of Stone. OK, there were a couple that I found too confusing to be entertaining, but overall, I do think that this is a very good anthology, and I do not hesitate to recommend it to you!
Great short story book.......2002-05-11
Three decades have passed since the great seer Donald A. Wollheim founded Daw as a place for some of the best fantasy and science fiction works to have a home. This 30th Anniversary Daw Fantasy anthology provides strong stories that run the gamut of the genre from some of the more renowned writers to the future stars. The stories pay homage to the company, but the contributors including the editor pay deference to the deceased founding father. Each tale is new, but more important well written as if each writer understood whom they really honor with this collection. Fans of fantasy will enjoy the tales, but also the short introductory blurb that each author adds about Mr. Wollheim (never realized he wrote the tale that Mimic is based on until Michael Shea pointed that out). Great short story book worth reading and hopefully its companion on science fiction holds up as well.

Natural Medicine at it's best.........2007-07-17
This book is the single most amazing book I have read on medicine and medical conditions. I have many medical books, and although they are quite definitive with regard to illnesses and mostly orthodox medication as a remedy, this book will open your eyes to a whole new world. The medical community does not treat the body holistically, and i do not mean that in a hippyish, spiritual way, but genuinely. There are so many specialists in the world, each being specifically trained as a gastroenterologist, cardiologist, etc,. but only clinical diagnosticians seem to view the body as a whole. Mr. Michael Murray has extensive knowledge on psysiology and anatomy, and it is clearly evident that he has insight into the genuine reasons for so many illnesses, as he is not under the thumb of pharmaceutical companies that doctors rely on so much. He has covered all the areas of the body, trying to be understandable and as succinct as possible, (this is an encyclopedia, not a text book per se), while not undermining the integrity of the medical information he dispenses. EVERY SINGLE home that can get their hands on this book will benefit for their lifetime. All I can say is there is no other book on medicine that for the lay person, will help them, inform them, and possibly cure them, like this book!
A must to have book.......2007-05-19
An Excellent book with great info. A must to have book at an unbeatable price makes it an excellent value for money. The info are up to date and usefull.
Out of date books.......2007-04-10
I purchased this item on recommendation by a tutor for a Naturopathic Nutrition course. However, it is very out of date and a disappointing purchase. I feel that Amazon should be more up to the minute in what they sell and remove out of date titles. Eemsmac
Everyone should have this just for alternatives.......2007-02-03
Are you beginning to think that society is becoming over-medicated? Do you pop an aspirin or pain reliever every time you get a muscle ache or headache? How about dropping a quick $25 for your co-pay to your doctor that tells you "Can't really do anything for you. It just needs to run it's course". Next time, save that co-pay and spend it right here. Great suggestions for "alternative" (I use that loosely. Nothing "freaky" in this book) ways to help with your ailment. Great suggestions that work with your body and not against it; which requires more pills to offset the side affects of the pills you are taking. Sound familiar?
The Best Book Ever Written on Natural Medicine!.......2007-01-07
This is an phenomenal piece of work that Murray and Pizzorno have put together! From this book, it is easy to see they are definitely progressive, cutting-edge health pioneers. Whether you are a beginner or an expert in the field of natural medicine or nutrition, you will find this book very insightful! In this work Murray and Pizzorno document and describe an extensive list of health conditions and how to overcome them by natural means. They also elaborate on the functions and uses of all supplements they recommend for certain conditions. Their approach is entirely holistic so they include exercise and mind-body recommendations specific to diseases. This is an extremely valuable source of natural medical information and I highly recommend this book to everyone!

Aebleskiver and More..A sample of Danish Recipes.......2007-08-24
This item arrived very quickly. The book was smaller than I thought. It has some good recipes in it but I was more interested in the baking of the danish "pancake" Aebleskiver's. I would still recommend this book. Thank you.
Fun danish recipes .......2007-06-27
Our son is going to Denmark for 2 years and these recipes are fun and interesting to help prepare him for the different varieties he will be eating. Some we really liked and some were quite unusual.
Aebleskiver/Danish recipes.......2007-05-12
The cookbook was just fine...and it didn't have food stains on it, which the other cookbook had!!
great recipes.......2007-01-09
I ordered this for my mother, her grandmother having come from Denmark. I bought it as a companion gift for an AEbleskiver pan I got for her birthday. The book had so much more! She spent most of the evening of
her birthday pouring through the book. She found many recipes from her childhood, including "the" sugar cookie recipe that had disappeared years ago and she and my sister had spent countless hours trying to duplicate.
The bits included in the book about Danish heritage made it so much more than a cookbook. We are going to order more books for her to give her
siblings this Christmas.
Interesting.......2006-02-26
This little recipe booklet is informative and attractive. The recipes are a collection of a full spectrum of Danish delicasies. Format is convenient. It's like a collection of 3 x 5 recipe cards. I am afraid to put it in the bookcase for fear I'll loose it!

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Book Description
Why is there such an ethical emphasis in Jesus' gospel proclamation? This work finds the answer in Jesus meeting his audience within their own conceptual realms and then expanding those realms to point to the nature of his salvation.
The bulk of this work investigates the soteriology of Second Temple Judaism, especially of the Qumran Scrolls. The apocalyptic lesson was the demand of a greater covenantal obedience, held in tension with God's grace, a demand met through sectarian revelation and involving a somewhat diverse messianism. Within these conceptions, Jesus affirms that salvation is indeed for the "righteous," but as defined through himself as the unique Messiah.
This work is particularly useful regarding the JesusPaul debate, for it provides a diachronic solution grounded in the cultural-historical milieu of the times.

I Couldn't Put It Down.......2003-10-14
During an excellent conversation with friends over drinks, we couldn't stop talking about the extraordinary grasp that Dr. Condra has on salvific foreshadowing in Old Testament scriptures. Besides, he and his wife are really cool and live in a hut in the third world now.
Buy Two, you never know when you could pass one on to a friend.

Book Description
Jacques Villon, brother of Marcel Duchamp and Raymond Duchamp-Villon, was one of the premier printmakers in Paris during the early part of the 20th century. Originally influenced by the work of Toulouse-Latrec, he later moved toward Cubism in his work. This catalogue from the Philadelphia Museum of Art places Villon's cubist prints in their proper perspective and includes a critical essay about his work.

Vine Deloria's foreword describes author Frank Waters as "the premiere writer of the American West." In this testimonial to the bravery of great Native American heroes, Waters combines biography, history, and historical photographs and artwork to portray the lives of such leaders as Crazy Horse, Powhatan, Tecumseh, Black Hawk, Chief Joseph, Osceola, and Chief Seattle, among others.
Waters's profiles include a dramatic depiction of the major turning points in each man's life and leadership. Iroquois Deganawidah, for example (also known as the Peacemaker), miraculously survived many attempts on his life in order to bring about his lifelong dream of peace and confederation among the eight Iroquois tribes. The League of Iroquois that the Peacemaker implemented wrote a constitution which was believed to have influenced the Constitution of the United States of America. Also included in this volume of essays are the stirring speeches of Chief Joseph surrendering at Bear Paw Mountain and Chief Seattle at the signing of the Port Elliot Treaty, wherein the Duwamish tribe was forced to give up its land at Puget Sound. Indians were later banned from the city that bore the chief's name. --Susan Swartwout
Customer Reviews:
A Good Synopsis.......2002-11-14
This is a good, concise account of many of the nations top Indian leaders from the 1500's to 1900's. Provides enough of a historical background to give each person a proper context in Water's account. Well written, easily read and fluid. An exciting account which gives a clear picture of Indian relations with the white European settlers and the inevitable conflicts that would find all nations. The chapters are short, a book you can easily put down and pick up later. Water's own comments in the book about Native ways and those of today's society is a real eye opener for those that don't think along those lines.
