Product Description
Nestled in the fertile hills of the Cotswolds, the village of Duntisbourne Abbots is a well-kept secret: beautiful, timeless and quintessentially English. When recently widowed Thea Osborne arrives to house-sit for a local couple, her only fear is that three weeks there might prove a little dull. Her first night's sleep at Brook View is broken by a piercing scream outside but she decides such things don't require investigation in a sleepy place like this. At least not until a body turns up... In calling on her neighbors to get some answers, Thea uncovers more tragedy and intrigue than she thought possible behind the peaceful Gloucestershire village. The first in a new series of thrillers to be set in the Cotswold area, A Cotswold Killing takes the reader on a tense journey along winding roads and muddy paths towards a dramatic and unexpected denouement.
Customer Reviews:
Disappointing.......2006-10-26
I am an avid reader and I love British "cozies". That said, I could barely make myself finish this book. The characters are not interesting, I got tired of hearing how "beautiful" the main character is and the mystery was uninspired.
A non-thrilling thriller.......2006-06-29
For true mystery aficionados, even those still drawn by the English village genre, this is a real disappointment. The "sleuth" is not much of one and little about her half-hearted investigations is either credible or interesting. The cast of characters is fairly large but one never learns enough about any of them to be particularly interested in which of them actually committed the Cotswold killings that are the subject of the story. I kept hoping V.I. Warshowski, or at least Miss Marple would appear. Cotswold villages and landscape might have provided a secondary reason for reading for those who like these (as I do). But the background is as poorly developed as the foreground and awkward writing and inadequate editing throughout lessened whatever enjoyment might have been taken from the ambiance.
Terrific Mystery.......2006-01-26
A COTSWOLD KILLING BY REBECCA TOPE is a well-written book with excellent descriptions of the Cotswold area of England. The armchair traveler will enjoy the novel with the well-crafted story line, high suspense, excellent characterization, and good English overtones that give the reader a sense of British approach to life in today's world while transporting the reader to the beautiful Gloucestershire, England. The mystery revolves around two different murders which happen in the field of a house which the narrator is house-sitting, thus involving her in an attempt to solve the murders. The reader will most likely be held in suspense of whodunit until the final pages of the book, because so many possible suspects and an indiscernible motive make the mystery nearly impossible to solve. A very good read that may keep you up late at night to learn what happens. You will certainly want to read more of Rebecca Tope's books

A True Gem!.......2006-04-23
K.C. May's first novel, The Kinshield Legacy, is a spellbinding tale of magical moments with truly unforgettable characters. You will find this book difficult to put down as you follow the twists and turns of a finely woven story, cheering on the main character as he follows the path to his destiny. I find most first novels to be mediocre, but this one was definitely above the norm. We can only hope that the next installment will be soon forthcoming!
Mystery fan converted to Fantasy.......2006-02-21
I was hooked from beginning to end. The Kinshield Legacy sold me on reading more fantasy instead of my usual mystery/suspense fare. The characters are wonderful - well-drawn, interesting, multi-faceted. I found the writing to be superb, especially for a first book. The riveting story and artfully-created world drew me in and kept me there. I look forward to more from K.C. May.
fine sword and sorcery.......2006-02-14
I've read many second, third, fourth, and even later novels, that were not as well written as this. The strong story arc, somewhat tortured but good-natured hero, and sympathetic supporting characters make this a pleasure to read, and I will wait impatiently for the second volume. While I expect K.C. May's writing to mature further with succeeding novels, she's written this in straight-forward language, which keeps the reader well abreast of the story as it unfolds. Not always an easy task when characters change sides and the charcters are hiding plots within plots.
If, like me, you find the scarcity of good High Fantasy or Sword & Sorcery being published by main stream publishing houses to be short-sighted, swing your support to the independent houses who still recognize that this market has an audience. The Kinshield Legacy is a good place to start.

I just wish I had made it sooner.'-Mia Hamm, Olympic and world-champion soccer player Core Performance, the breakthrough fitness program that has already shipped more than 50,000 copies in hardcover, is the first program that delivers strength and muscle mass, endurance and a lean body, balance and flexibility, athletic quickness and power-all in less than an hour a day. How? By giving you a personal coach who has worked with some of the most famous and successful athletes in the world today.
Customer Reviews:
Great book if you have the time.......2007-10-03
Mark has done a great job of simplifying some very challenging material. His program can improve your performance and help reduce your risk for injury if you have the time to complete it. It is very thorough but time consuming.
Fantastic book.......2007-09-15
Core Performance is a great book for all levels of athletes looking to get in shape. Some of the movements will be challenging for beginners, but overall if you stick with the program you will see great results.
Side note: I bought this book many years ago when they only had a hardcover available - do yourself a favor and get the soft cover since you will be constantly referencing the book on how to perform certain exercises.
Core Performance .......2007-08-01
Awesome book - great workouts , program and diet
A must for anyone serious about making a step change in their training
Great workout.......2007-06-27
This book was recommended by my doctor at my last physical and he was right, it is a great book.
Down to the Core!.......2007-05-04
I've trained off and on for 20 years or so and I wasn't impressed with the core training method...at first! But with practice and patience everything started to fall into place and when that happened, my fitness level improved in ways I hadn't anticipated. I like to combine the Core Prep and a personal version of the Core Strength routine with my morning run for spiritual reasons, I also mix different core exercises into my bodybuilding routine. The Core program helps you experience a more thorough form of fitness; consequently, a more thorough form of contentment; however, I issue this recommendation with a caveat. The Core Program is complicated, especially for beginners, and I think the whole signing-the-commitment page was a bit gimmicky and self-helpish; thus my conservative rating, nevertheless, the core training method is a revolutionary winner.

101 Things to do with a Slow Cooker.......2007-09-17
Very disappointed with cook book. Nothing exiciting or new. If you are a slow cooker user you came up with these recipes on your own and have been using them for years. Most call for simple and few ingredients which is the best part of the book.
101 Things to do with a Slow Cooker.......2007-05-24
I purchased "101 Things to do with a Slow Cooker" as a gift. The recipes looked so easy and so good that I may have to order one for myself!
My other slow cooker books are collecting dust!.......2007-01-19
This is one of the best slow cooker books I've come across. The recipes are simple, tasty, and best of all - most have very few ingredients. I love to cook, but as a busy mom, I'm tired of recipes calling for 15 ingredients. Those recipes are fine for the weekends - this book is GREAT for the busy workweek.
I didn't realize until now that there is a whole series of these books - "101 Things to do with a ___________." Here I come!
Lazy Recipes with Prepared Food.......2007-01-07
The point of a slow cooker is to prepare something in one dish from wholesome ingredients and be done with it. Instead, the author has taken this to an extreme new low. There is no excuse to suggest recipes that combine canned chili and Velvetta cheese and actually consider that a slow-cooker recipe... not to mention even to consider that food!
If like me, you like to cook using top grade ingredients from scratch (mostly) then this is NOT the book for you. Processed ingredients like Chedder Cheese Soup, Chili, Spaghetti Sauce, Minestrone soup, Velveeta cheese, taco seasoning mix, bouillon cubes, jarred salsa, onion soup mix, canned chicken, cranberry sauce, scallopped potatoes from a box, salad dressing and even cake mixes are considered as proper ingredients for recipes in this book.
Personally, I have no problem when a recipe might include ingredients like Chicken broth, barbecue sauce or even onion soup mix, but this book really exaggerates. This is hardly "from scratch". Unless you really need a recipe to tell you to put pork chops and a jar of barbecue sauce together... skip this book.
Simplicity - How to cook out of your pantry.......2005-12-12
I love this book for what it is - a collection of simple recipes. Most of the ingredients are items you have in your pantry or freezer. It is a great book for the end of the week when you have not been to a grocery store in days. And the recipes are yummy. So if you are looking for a long list of ingredients and many steps of preparation this is not the book for you. If you want a book where in five minutes you can make a meal from your pantry this is the perfect choice.
Book Description
Call it a one-pot, a casserole, or a hot dish, no one can deny the convenience and satisfaction these traditional meals provide! Whether you've had a late night at work, or have limited ingredients and finicky kids, the mighty casserole is the answer to the grumbling in everyone's tummy. From the authors of the best-selling 101 Things to do with a Slow Cooker and 101 More Things to do with a Slow Cooker comes the sixth book in this million-copy-selling series-101 Things to do with a Casserole!

Quick and simple.
101 Things to Do with a Casserole .......2007-07-16
101 Things To Do With a Casserole contains hearty down home cooking for breakfast and supper meals. Though the majority of the one pan meals are meat-based, there is a whole section devoted to vegetarian cooking. Most of the dishes take about half and hour to cook but many can be prepared beforehand and then slipped into the preheated oven. Preparation is kept very simple with many of the recipes asking for commercially prepared soups, spaghetti sauce, pasta, crescent roll dough, etc.
Though definitely not the fanciest cookbook I have on my cookbook shelf, I think that a few of the recipes in this book are destined to become family favourites. The recipes in this collection are easy to make without a great deal of forethought and the results fill my family's stomach with good tasting food. Really what more could you ask for in a cookbook
A must have!.......2007-07-12
I am a cookbook addict and I bought this book on a whim. It is my FAVORITE cookbook. All the recipes are delicious and a big hit with the kids! The recipes use pretty basic ingredients, so its great for last-minute dinner plans. I highly reccomend it!
The Hectic Cooks Best Friend.......2007-01-16
As an ocean going chef the "101" cookbook series is the chef/cook's best friend. I found a collection of these very handy cookbooks on my last ship and I knew I had to have my own copies. The ship was short handed and it ran out of basic cooking & baking supplies. These cookbooks gave excellent and simple meal preperation ideas with the few supplies & staff we did have. It's all common sense but these ladies take the brain damage out of meal planning. Most importantly, the crew was always satisfied. I'd recommend the series for the beginning cook or one that is short on time.
101 things to do with a casserole.......2006-09-12
This is a great book. All the recipes are fast and easy and great for someone who is just learning to cook. The Tater Tot Casserole and the Beef Pot Pie were fantastic. Look at the whole series because these are great little books. I have alot of these books and I wish they were around when I first started cooking.

Nice pictures and accurate info.......2002-04-05
It's a good book if your not looking for specific info on a specific fish or invert. This book generalize a family of fish or inverts. It has very indepth info on equipment, but has no recommend setup. This book also include some nice ideas about ridding deritus.
Good Book for Those Planning to Have A Marine Aquarium.......2001-03-01
This book has the same contents as "The Questions & Answers Manual of the Marine Aquarium: Practical and Expert Advice on Keeping Fish and Invertebrates" by the same author but published by Salamander Books Limited (ISBN: 0-86101-861-3).
It covers a good introduction of the various gadgets (filters, protein skimmers, ozonizers, etc.) and explains the purpose of such devices. Tank set-up and care are also covered. Common fishes and invertebrates are covered, each in two or three pages with colorful, good quality photos of the creatures.
Q & A approach makes reading a breeze. Highly recommended for beginners
A Great Start.......2001-02-17
This book does a wonderful job of explaining all the basics of marine fish, and reef keeping. If you want to know what all the gagets are, and what they do, this is the book for you. It gives a good general description of all the equipment and how each item is used. It does not support any one tank set up method. It throws all the information out there and lets the reader sort it out for themselves. It's also a nice quick reference for fish/invert compatibility, tank, and feeding requirements. Great for the beginner!
accurate and informative text, a necessity........1999-09-14
this book has to be one of the most informative, accurate, and comprehensive book on BOTH corals and fish I could find. There were numerous occasions where we had opportunities to verify firsthand the advice contained herein, and much to our astonishment, the author was truly on point.
Good useful information for the novice and the buding expert.......1999-03-28
Easy to understand and utilize, sound information all presented in a clear and articulate manner. Those starting in the hobby will find this a useful tool before graduating to more complex reference books. Well presented photographs are also a added treat. The expert reef keeper however, maybe left wanting something a little more profound.
Customer Reviews:
How can this book not include Valpolicella?.......2001-04-27
Generally, I've been pleased with this series of books -- they are very useful and informative for a wine lover travelling in any region and we have used them often. However, this book on Northeast Italy does not include the Valpolicella winegrowing region near Verona -- which produces the best red wines in Northeast Italy! It includes other winegrowing areas in the Veneto, so how can they leave out Amarone and Valpolicella?
Great Guide to find special places.......2000-09-18
We actually used this guide as our main guide through northestern italy. We find some amazing retsuarnts and hotels, ones you wouldn't know from the o utside. Some restaurants you absolutely need to know Italian, it seemed like they never saw a tourist before. The maps in the book are not very good, and don't show most of the places mentioned. Have a very good other, an up-to-date map.
Just one word about the region: super wines, not many you will be able to purchase in the states.

from the author.......2007-10-11
This is the author. Thanks so much for your candid comments. I read them for ideas on how to improve the next edition if I can ever get to it. I noticed a comment from Tampa and wanted to make you aware that there is also a Florida Gardener's Book of Lists. I grew up in Florida and teamed up with Monica Brandies, a transplant from the North to write this title. She offers a great perspective. Anyone in Central and South Florida might want to try that title instead.
Disappointed.......2007-08-23
I was expecting to see WHAT these plants look like, but to my disappointment, there weren't many photos-
This one will make it to the garage sale...
Very good, for a gardening book with no pictures........2007-05-13
This helped me sort out my own list for what I want in my garden, and what I want to get out of it. Information is to the point. Experienced gardeners/designers/nursery professionals sharing their choices, all simply stated.
Without the positive reviews on this book, I might have passed it over. Nice one to have on the shelf.
Southern Gardner's Book of Lists.......2006-11-08
I sure wish I had this book when I moved to North Carolina.
As a novice gardener I spend a lot of money on plants that just were not for my garden. Recently, a friend moved to Florida and I purchased this book for her. I am sure it will be very useful with landscaping her new home.
Book Of Lists.......2006-06-28
Excellent resource for the wish-I-knew gardner. Will keep you from making plant selection mistakes.

Book Description
This 1000-page English-language reference work has been produced with the collaboration of 23 scholars from Europe and North America and is intended as a guide to some of the most important developments in the history of the reception of the Church Fathers in the West, from the Carolingians to the Maurists. Particular emphasis is placed on the history of patristic scholarship which, unlike classical scholarship, has tended to be neglected by historians. However, the reception of patristic doctrines and ideas is also included and patristic scholarship is placed in its doctrinal and cultural context. Articles do not confine themselves to summarising what has been done on a particular topic, but also suggest new approaches and areas of research to be opened up. In order to make this volume useful to graduate students and scholars from non-theological disciplines, full relevant bibliographical information is provided. The volume addresses the following general questions: (1) what is meant by the "Fathers"; (2) the problems of patristic as opposed to Scriptural authority; (3) the types (and amount) of patristic material available and the problems of attribution and misattribution; (4) the uses made of the Fathers in constituting a theological doctrine and in response to a doctrinal difference; (5) the abuses made of the Fathers, i.e. overly tendentious or polemical uses; (6) the value of the Greek and Latin Fathers; (7) the use made of the Fathers in defining heresy and orthodoxy. The volume is intended to open up a field of studies and is the first-ever work of its kind.
