Book Description

Hairstylist Marla Shore is thrust into her newest South Florida adventure when her animal-loving neighbor named Goat disappears, leaving his pets alone and a dead body in the master bedroom. After she notices the distinctive pattern of highlights in the deceased person's hair, Marla gets hot on the trail of her missing friend. Soon she's untangling clues involving hair growth formulas, exotic animal smuggling, and citrus canker. When dashing Dalton Vail's interest turns decidedly personal, she wonders which pursuer will claim her first: the amorous detective or the killer?

Hairdresser Marla falls in the middle of a neighborhood mystery when her dog groomer neighbor turns up missing. She sleuths her way through the crime and finds herself in a sticky situation. Adorable story with something for everyone.

1 out of 5 stars God Awful.......2005-01-15

Usually when a series starts out bad, it can only get better. Unfortunately, this series keeps getting worse.

There were so many things going on in this book that it was hard to keep track of them all -- a murder in a neighbor's home, an incident between neighbors, animal cruelty, illegal fur business, exotic bird trade, competing salon owners, baldness, citrus canker, teenage angst, bad deeds from the past. Way too much to keep track of.

Marla never learns her lesson and keeps putting herself into stupid, dangerous situations. Her cop boyfriend does nothing to discourage her from involving herself in his cases other than shaking a finger now and then, but yet he turns around and tells her that the case is "our case." Cops do *not* encourage civilians to get involved in their investigations, particularly a civilian as stupid and careless as Marla.

After she finds out about two hairdressers being killed, Marla thinks she went to school with one and doesn't recognize the name of the other. After she goes to her beauty school and finds out they were all classmates, we suddenly learn that the three, along with two other students, were part of a tight "gang" who hung around together and basically ruined another student's life. So why doesn't Marla recognize the name of someone she was supposedly so tight with? That really lost me.

This author has enough trouble trying to write mystery -- the last thing she should do is try to add romance. There's really no chemistry at all between Marla and Dalton, and her attempts at writing romance for them come off as juvenile and amateur. On one page, Marla is fretting about their differences and how a relationship between them won't work, then on the next page she's discussing the changes she'd make to his decor if she moves in with him. No consistency and certainly nothing about these two that makes you want to read about them having a meal together (which will, of course, be filled with leers and attempts at sexually suggestive comments and feelings) much less living together.

This author really needs to go back to writing school, because she's a textbook for "How To Get Your Novel Published." There's no red, yellow and blue in Marla's world -- only crimson, lemon and azure. Clothing, table settings, meals, cars, everything is described in painstaking detail to the point where you end up skimming over paragraphs at a time. And, in addition to the very annoying "Bless My Bones!" and random Yiddish phrases, we're now also treated to "Holy Highlights!" throughout the book. What is this, Batman?

Anyone who lives in South Florida knows that Palm Haven is really Plantation -- it's silly to try to invent a town when you're specific enough to tell us that someone is driving down Nob Hill Road to get onto I-595. Why the author felt the need to invent the name of the town is beyond me, since a large portion of her reading audience is local.

Yet another poor effort by a very poor writer.

4 out of 5 stars Highlights to Heaven.......2005-01-13

Marla Shore has just wrapped up her latest sleuthing job, and is just beginning the next one a few weeks later.
Her neighbor Goat is missing, and a dead body is found in his home. As Marla searches for Goat and is trying to clear his name, her arch rival Carolyn opens a beauty shop in the same strip mall, her ma is becoming more involved with the mysterious (and badly dressed) Ralph, Ralph's son Barry is becoming more interested in Marla, as is Detective Vail, and his teenage daughter has developed a friendship with her as well.
Add to the mix - someone is killing off her old beauty school classmates, and she is next!
The detailed information provided by the author is very interesting (Jewish holidays, traditions, and recipes, along with animal smuggling, hair growth, fur information, citris tree diseases) - and Marla's angst in the dating arena is easy to relate to.
The only flaw in the book is that Marla has not yet learned how to be more cautious in investigations and sleuthing.
This is a fun read, take it in a light hearted vein and have some fun with it!

2 out of 5 stars Flawed but interesting.......2004-04-20

When her neighbor disappears and a dead body is found in his condo, hair stylist Marla Shore gets involved. She recognizes the highlights on the body and knows the one hairdresser who can produce them. What she doesn't know is that her investigation is going to lead her into serious troubles involving animal research, animal smuggling, a cure for baldness, and a plant disease that threatens the citrus crops of Florida. Along with sometimes boyfriend Police Detective Dalton Vail, Marla rushes from danger to danger--all the while trying to figure out where her relationship with Dalton is headed.

Marla Shore is a mostly likable heroine, interested in others, sympathetic toward Dalton's pre-teen daughter, and caring about her neighbor, 'Goat,' who, Marla is certain, could not be the murderer. Marla's bad judgment when it comes to personal safety weakens the character, however, as does her certainty that she knows what is best for Dalton's daughter. One would think that a few near-death experiences would teach her a bit more caution but, unfortunately, they don't.

Author Nancy J. Cohen slips in an occasional clunker but her writing is mostly professional quality. HIGHLIGHTS TO HEAVEN is a flawed but interesting mystery.

5 out of 5 stars Reminiscent of Evanovich... fun read........2004-02-23

If you want a mind-candy read somewhat reminicient of Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, you'll enjoy Highlights To Heaven by Nancy J. Cohen. This is part of her "Bad Hair Day Mystery" series. The main character, Marla Shore, is a south Florida Jewish hair stylist with her own salon, and she finds herself in the middle of crime investigations, much to the dismay of her love interest and police dectective Dalton Vail.

In the latest installment, her strange neighbor (nicknamed "Goat") has gone missing. When she goes over to investigate with Vail, they find a dead body, a stash of cash, and no Goat. Shore recognizes the highlighting style on the dead guy, and asks some questions of the stylist who did the work. Things start happening quickly at that point, and it seems to tie back to her styling school days when a group of her friends played a joke on another stylist who lost his hair in the process. All the friends are being killed off, and Shore narrowly escapes death a couple of time. A few unexpected plot twists brings the story to the typical life or death climax at the end. And as a subplot throughout the story, Shore's relationship with Vail advances forward to the next major stage... moving in.

This isn't deep thought-provoking material. It's a light story with interesting characters, and it's the exact type of recreational read that I often look forward to.

        Book Description

Fantasy is one of the best-selling genres today, long fueled by the popularity of J.R.R. Tolkien and writers inspired by him. In the wake of Peter Jackson's film versions of The Lord of the Rings, many other classic works of fantasy are being filmed too-those of J.K. Rowling, Phillip Pullman, C.S. Lewis, and Ursula K. Le Guin, to name a few-and the appetite for good classic fantasy has only increased. Contemporary writers such as Jonathan Carroll and Thomas Ligotti are represented, and for Tolkien fans, Andy Duncan's wicked "Senator Bilbo" and Verlyn Flieger's "Green Hill Country" are especially satisfying.

        Book Description

Motherhood is the ultimate transformation, a powerful and thrilling metamorphosis. Yet the vast majority of parenting books focus on the how-tos of baby and child care, not on the care or development of mothers. Ann Pleshette Murphy—the former editor of Parents magazine, current parenting contributor to Good Morning America, and herself the mother of two—looks at the emotional lives of mothers, at how we change and grow from the moment we get pregnant to the day we watch our kids graduate from high school.

The 7 Stages of Motherhood urges women to reflect on the seismic shifts they undergo at each stage of their children’s lives and to focus on their own evolution. Only by doing so, says Murphy, can we give children the best of ourselves. Many new moms assume that once things “get back to normal,” they’ll jump right back on their pre-baby path. But there’s no going back, according to Murphy, and that’s actually good news. Each stage of motherhood has its own challenges and opportunities. Motherhood forces us to hone muscles we never knew we had; to question our choices and goals; to reshape our relationships with family, friends, our spouses; and, most important, to rethink who we are and where we’re going. There’s as much circling, sliding, falling back as there is surg-ing ahead—and Murphy provides exactly the encouragement women need to overcome obstacles and celebrate their strengths. Writing with wit, warmth, and unfailing empathy about the challenges mothers face at each stage, Murphy offers insightful advice and gentle reassurance, showing moms how to make the most of their lives as they raise their children.

Drawing on hundreds of interviews with leaders in the field, a wealth of personal experience, a decade at the helm of Parents magazine, and, of course, countless conversations with other mothers, Murphy offers women invaluable advice about how to cope and how to thrive along with their children. She identifies periods of particular intensity in a mother’s life and provides indispensable tips about how to manage at each stage, from the roller-coaster ride of early childhood through the ambiguities of adolescence and the tumult of the teen years. The 7 Stages of Motherhood is an exuberant, joyful, not-to-be-missed journey, full of life-changing insights and affirming wisdom and support: a buoyant contribution to the literature of maternity and self-discovery.

        5 out of 5 stars I screamed, I laughed! Thank you.......2007-06-11

One of the best qualities i received from my mom was a sense of humor, especially the ability to laugh at myself. I loved this book. I laugh, scream, and cry all the time with my kids and I'm in school to be a teacher. I love kids and I love (sometimes) how honest they are. My sense of humor is often times still that of a kid and I thank God for it everyday! This book rocks! All of the mommas in this book ROCK!! It's too bad for the women who didn't like this book, but then again maybe not. That is the wonderful thing about being human, a woman, a mom -- we're all different. Thank God for those differences too.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but not what I expected.......2006-03-16

I thought this book would be mostly about me! Instead, I had to wade through stories and advice about child rearing to get to the few parts that were actually about the mother. It seemed more like this was the 7 Seven Stages of Child Development. If I wanted to read books about how to deal with my child at each age, I would've gotten a different book. All of this is helpful but it just wasn't what I thought the book would be about.

        1 out of 5 stars Annoying book.......2005-09-04

As I read, it sound like some friends that try to push their kids video tapes on your throat all the time, like those friends that can't stop detailing every little feat, picture, songs that their kids made. Realist, yes, but who cares listening to her kids stories, what cuteness came from their mouth, etc, etc. This was the most annoying book I ever read. I was going almost going to scream if I hear one more time what Maddie said, what Nick did, etc, I am not interested in listening to her journals. If I could get a refund, it will be the best. If you really want to go on and try this book, go get it in the library before wasting money to hear what her kids said, did yesterday, a year ago...

5 out of 5 stars Very realistic and refreshing!.......2005-08-04

I loved the author's honesty and realistic viewpoints of motherhood! How refreshing to read something which makes me feel like I'm not alone in my struggles with breastfeeding, going back to work, etc. The myriad anecdotes were wonderful in helping me understand that there are many, many women out there who feel the joys AND challenges associated with motherhood. Having recently read several books regarding discipline, potty training, sleeping, it was nice to read a book written by someone who actually didn't overwhelm me with their "preachiness" toward what mothers should and shouldn't be doing to raise the "perfect" child. Loved it!

3 out of 5 stars Life In Stages For Mom & Her Child........2005-07-07

Stage 1 really begins with the birthdate of your first child, not pregnancy as she suggests (as some don't make it to term) on through the colic stage when you lose a lot of sleep, nurturing and caring for a lovely baby.

#2 emcompasses the rest of that first year as you find yourself and your purpose inn life. God put Adam and Eve together to procreate; and you've reached that important time of feeling like a mom for the first time.

#3 (Toddler Year) and #4 go together as you watch your child grow and learn anything and everything through you. You're not really letting go or trying to do it all -- yet, that comes later. You're merely overwhelmed at the enormity of this mission and how very much your own child means to a fulfillment you've never known before.

#5 -- The child's 3-6 yrs. period, when they really blossom into a person who will love you until the end of time or hate you for not being there for them when they needed you. This is an extremely pivotal time.

#6, she calls the "gray zone" -- the pre-teen years can be rewarding and glorious as they can be "your" protector and friend and show their pride in having such a wonderful mother.

#7 is the most critical. Ages 13-18 yrs. are the worst for mom and child as they are seeking their freedom at whatever costs it takes them. These are the rebillious years, and I thought I would not live through my last son's teen years. It was a difficult time. They get attached to the wrong people and experiment with drugs, alcohol consumption, and sex. The girls of this age dress (or half-dress) in what we called underwear (camisoles, even a grandmother's black silk slip) as outerwear, showing lots of skin. Becoming a single mom now is not looked down on as in the Fifties and before the hippies invaded America. After all, they'll receive a government check of their very own.

Then, if you're lucky, there's another stage (my #8) when they flee the coop and try out their wings. The ideal would be college but some choose the homeless lifestyle -- free food and lodging, free clothes and transportation, and sex (not love) with multiple partners. Some are creating what some pets used to be called, mongrels.

They grow up amd away much too fast. The loving child becomes the unloving adult child. "Raising children may be the most gratifying experience available to women, but it's also the most challenging; believing that you can somehow avoid the anxiety, anger, and guilt only promises more of the same." Mothers' attributes include "determination, commitment, strength, energy, empathy, humor, kindness, wisdom, courage and sensitivity toward others."

A good mother learns how to balance work and family, nurture your marriage, get a grip on anxiety, set limits, show intense feelings of love and anger, and when to let go. That is the hardest part of all, as nothing will ever be the same again.

          Book Description

Mention dog food, and even dogs may turn up their noses. Grim little pellets or mysterious meatlike concoctions need not be the latest trend in canine cuisine, according to author and dog lover Michele Bledsoe. In The Doggy Bone Cookbook, she shows how dog owners, numbering more than 43 million people, can bake love and nutrition into their furry friends’ diet.

This fun book grew out of testing hundreds of recipes. Each book comes with a bone-shaped cookie cutter and easy-to-bake veterinarian-approved recipes ranging from Peamutt Butter, Bark-B-Q, and Cinnabone, to Dig 'n' Cheese, Santa Paws, and Howl About a Mint. New to this edition are recipes for dogs with bad breath and for special birthday treats. Color illustrations appear on every page, and quotes from canine connoisseurs testify to the quality of these tail-wagging snacks.

I purchased this book to start my doggy bag barkery business and the biscuits really sell. I recommend this book for anyone starting out in the business. Be careful with the Minty Bones because they mold quickly.

          5 out of 5 stars woooftastic!!!.......2007-07-18

very good book though not many recipes (I think about 10) but very simple ingredients and easy to follow instructions. My copy also came with a bone shaped cookie cutter! very good though short and card pages so robust enough for kids etc... my dog loves the peanut biscuits

          5 out of 5 stars Great book!.......2007-04-12

I agree with the reviewer 'Sally'. My dog loves EVERY recipe in this book! So while another book may have more recipes... it'll take you a while to sort through it and figure out which ones your dog will enjoy.
Another feature this book has that other books don't is a dog-bone shaped cookie cutter. Not the metal ones which fall apart or hurt my hands, but a sturdy red one that is easy to use and lasts a long time. I bought my first copy in the bookstore. I'm here to buy another one as a gift for a friend!

5 out of 5 stars Great simple and fun doggy treat recipe book........2006-10-08

This is such a great little recipe book for doggy treats. I wasn't sure which one I wanted though so I went to Borders myself and got this one.

Sure it doesn't have a 100+ pages of extensive expensive recipes that are boring to look at. This author tested many recipes before narrowing it down to these 12 or so. They are are great and my dog LOVES them. Seriously how many recipes does one dog need for treats anyway??

I also got this book because it is a boardbook, fun to look at, simple and the cookie cutter! It is so nice to have some recipes you can use the cookie cutter for. We even make a yogurt based coating to put on them for gifts to other doggies. It looked so good. I also want to use my Christmas cookie cutters this year to make little doogie treat baskets for our friends with dogs.

I highly recommend this book as a gift to kids 5-12 with dog(s) This is a unique gift that I am sure they would like to get. The cookie cutter hangs out of the side - very cute looking. My daughter can't get enough of this book - she even likes to look at the pictures in it and I LOVE that it is a boardbook - it will hold up for years!

5 out of 5 stars THIS IS A FUN BOOK FOR ALL DOG LOVER'S!.......2005-12-07

Recipes are easy and fun to bake! My daughter and I loved to make the dog bones and our dog, Picasso, loved (and I mean LOVED!)his homemade treats. We baked up another batch to give to friend's dogs as Christmas presents.
We recommend this book as a gift to yourself or someone else.

2 out of 5 stars How many pretty pictures do you want to pay for?.......2004-08-06

About half of this 64-page book is actual training advice. The other half consists of filler in the form of pretty dog pictures. For $1 more you can get Shirlee Kalstone's "How to Housebreak Your Dog in Seven Days" -- 70 pages of training advice (similar to Kelly's) plus background not in Kelly's book that will be useful to many readers.

          5 out of 5 stars Highly Recommendable!.......2000-04-27

I recently bought a Jack Russell Terrier, and anybody that owns one knows why I needed this book. My puppy is very fiesty and head-strong, which means he was not easy to train. I didn't know where to turn and almost thought about selling him because he was too much to handle. I finally decided I would send him to obedience school, but in the mean time I would buy a book to perhaps teach myself a little something about housebreaking new puppies. I browsed through numerous books, many sounding too much alike, which made it all the more difficult to decide. When I came to this book, after breezing through several pages, I realized this was the book for me. Easy to understand, and the illustrations helped out a whole bunch. I immediately started using the many tips they offered and within days started to see a change in my puppy. I couldn't believe it! The book is not real long, which is great for those of us that work. It's easy to read and comprehend and apply to any situation. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, easy-to-read book loaded with great tips!

            Book Description

From the producers of the bestselling Flora (Timber Press, 2003) comes the definitive reference for orchid enthusiasts, with more than 1500 orchids described in detail. Genus entries give information on natural distribution, characteristics, and cultivation; species coverage includes a description and symbols indicating the type of plant — whether terrestrial, lithophyte, or epiphyte — average height and spread, and temperature and light requirements. More than 1350 stunning photographs show specimens in close detail along with plants in their native habitats wherever possible. Introductory chapters deal with the history and taxonomy of orchids, cultivation and propagation techniques, pests and diseases, and conserving orchids in the wild. A handy reference table summarizes climate and cultivation information for each species, and the comprehensive glossary and index make the wealth of information contained in Flora's Orchids easily accessible.

            4 out of 5 stars a LOT of information.......2007-09-30

This book truly contains a LOT of information. The pics are beautiful! The info is also for those of us who have serios orchitis and are past the beginner's inflamation stage... Highly recommended.

            5 out of 5 stars Great Book.......2007-01-10

I bought this book as a Christmas gift for my mother who is an Orchid nutbag. She was absolutely amazed at the book and how many amazing pictures there were in it. She said it's so big and has so much information that it will take her months to get through all of it.

4 out of 5 stars Bulky but good.......2007-01-05

The style of this encyclopedia is quite pleasing and the colors are spectacular. I have two comments, however. First, the book is very heavy, unwieldy for a reference book. The second remark refers to the choice of clones, especially hybrids, that seems limited to the photographs on hand, leaving many interesting primary hybrids out to the advantage of many (too many) hybrids that are difficult to find, and, in many cases, not very interesting. The book would have been better if it limited itself to species, many of which are missing (e.g. about 15 Cattleya species)or to primary hybrids. Obviously a commercial choice of "pretty pictures" without much information, like parents... Additionally, botanicals are very sparse, although many orchidists are looking for information on them.
In other words, a hybrid book for non-experts, which must be supplemented by many other sources to be truly useful.
What species are there are well done.

            5 out of 5 stars A work of art.......2006-02-01

This is absolutely the best book dedicated to Orchids. It is a great source of information and has an amazing amount of astonishing photos. A real work of art!!! Every Orchid enthusiast must have this book in his/her library. Deffinitely a great book.

            5 out of 5 stars A magnificent book.......2005-10-02

Not only a magnificent book, but also a very useful update (and a replacement) to the out of date Encyclopaedia of Cultivated Orchids (Alex Hawkes), as well as more encyclopedic than Home Orchid Growing (Rebecca Northern) and far better photographed than my old edition of The Manual of Cultivated Orchid Species (Bechtel, Cribb, Launert), or similar texts on highly specific orchid plants such as the various (equally wonderful) books on Vandas and Catasetums. The few 'errata' that I've seen (a misclassified Nobile dendrobium hybrid, a flipped picture) and a handful of different hybrid names that I've never heard of (Kunthara vs. Burrageara) are minor. Exquisite pictures, readable text (without resorting to too much botanical jargon), beautifully laid out, this is a real joy to add to anyone's orchid library.

If you're looking at this, you probably know that this book is still a very valuable source of information on Jamaican orchids. This is a nice, amazingly inexpensive reprint of this essential work--ever so much cheaper and easier to get than finding one of the originals! The publisher has even taken care to print the captions accompanying the drawings on a separate leaf, rather than on the reverse of the drawings, so that there is no print showing through to mar the illustrations. Overall, a really nice job of reprinting. It would be even nicer if it were available in hardcover. A softcover, perfect bound book won't withstand too much use before it begins to show wear--but one could have it rebound.

This volume is one of several (about 10)that will make up a complete Flora of Illinois. Many volumes are available now, and a few wait to be published. The complete flora will include something nearing 3000 entries for individual species of this surprisingly diverse area of the county, with distribution maps specific to IL. Its entries are very readable, while including much information for characteristics and distribution, in addition to many line drawings that make it valuable for ID too.

"A fabulous work. Highly recommended." -Library Journal

Orchids were brought to Europe from the tropics and subtropics beginning in the 17th century, and by 1839, English plant nurseries were selling 1,600 different kinds of the flower. Long prized for their exotic beauty and astonishing variety, orchids are the royal family of the plant kingdom. The story of this flower, from the hunt for new varieties in the wild in the 1800s to the development of the more than 100,000 hybrids that exist today, is related in fascinating detail in Orchids.

This beautiful book features text by one of the world's foremost orchid authorities alongside spectacular watercolor portraits of prize-winning orchids from the Royal Horticultural Society in London, which spearheaded orchid cultivation in Western Europe beginning in the 19th century. This exquisite collection of paintings commissioned by the RHS every year since 1897 represents the ultimate orchid pictorial history. Now in a reduced format, Orchids is an indispensable sourcebook for those captivated by the beauty and infinite variety of this glamorous flower. AUTHOR BIO: Mark Griffiths, one of the world's foremost writers on orchids, has edited and written numerous publications on orchids and horticulture. He was editor of The New Royal Horticulture of Gardening, and was awarded the Garden Writers' Guild Special Award for a Work of Outstanding Excellence for his RHS Manual, Orchids. Griffiths is horticultural correspondent for The Times, London.

                        Description:
The attraction of male pollinating insects by sexual deception is known for several orchids from the Mediterranean, Australia, South Africa and South America. The sexual delusion may be so enticing in some species that it elicits males to attempt copulation with insect-like structures of the labellum. Pollination by such a pseudocopulation mechanism is reported here for the terrestrial orchid Geoblasta penicillata (Chloraeinae) from subtropical South America. Observations of the pollination process were carried out in two wild populations 560km distant from each other. The only pollinators seen in both populations were male Campsomeris bistrimacula (Scoliidae) wasps. They attempted copulation with the insect-like labellum by directing the genitalia to its base whereby pollinia got attached to the dorsal surface of the metasoma. The present case of pseudocopulation, which is in South America the second known and the first recorded in wild populations, represents a striking parallel to the Australian Calochilus campestris also pollinated by male scoliid wasp of the genus Campsomeris.

3 out of 5 stars It has limitations as a reference tool for graphic designers.......1998-01-13

(Note: this review applies equally to all 3 listings of this title in the Amazon catalogue) Be aware that this book is a reprint of the 1974 type specimen book of one particular type supplier (V & M Typographical Inc.). It cannot therefore be satisfactorily used as a comprehensive reference tool by graphic designers as it doesn't include typefaces produced by any other type suppliers. For example, Gill Sans (one of the most important 20th century typefaces) is not included, nor are hundreds of other more exotic faces. The only comprehensive type reference work is Jaspert's [et al.] "Encyclopaedia of Type Faces" of which the latest edition (1990) is listed as being out of print by Amazon, but appears to be available from UK suppliers. Jaspert also includes interesting historical notes.

                          Book Description

                          SLAMMIN' SAMMY!

From the streets of San Pedro de Macorís to home plate in Wrigley Field, Sammy Sosa has slammed his way to the top of the majors, and his triumphant 1998 season -- when he and Mark McGwire chased Roger Maris's home run record -- has been one of the best things to happen to baseball in years! Sosa!, illustrated with eight pages of photos, is an up-to-the-minute look at his life, from his humble beginnings in his native Dominican Republic to his 66th home run, and his contributions to a season that Chicago Cubs fans will never forget. It's also a look at how Latinos have left their stamp on professional baseball, why Roger Maris's record was untouchable for more than 35 years, and how the 1998 home run derby captured the hearts of fans and non-fans alike. But most of all, this is the story of Sammy Sosa, a man who is almost as famous for his kindness and generosity as he is for the talent that made him into a home run hero, and a winning athlete who put the excitement back into the game of baseball!

Sosa's determination, hard work and gratitude make for a great journey and a great read. Buy this for any young boys especially. They'll be out practicing (whatever sport or activity they happen to do) as soon as they put the book down.
