A new Kevin Kerney mystery is a bright spot in any publishing season, and in McGarrity's fifth book in the series, he brings Kerney back home to southern New Mexico on the trail of a spree killer who's murdered six victims at remote campgrounds. But something in the crime pattern tells Kerney these murders aren't as random as they first appear. Instead, they seem to be senseless killings meant to cover up the last one, a very personal crime involving family secrets hidden for generations. It's supposed to be the last case for Kerney, whose unexpected inheritance of a vast tract of prime ranchland and recent marriage to a career army officer (Hermit's Peak, Serpent Gate) have him putting in for early retirement from the police force. And it's all mixed up with a stalker seeking revenge on Kerney for his part in an Internal Affairs investigation that got a cop kicked off the force and led to a deadly gunfight that still haunts Kerney.

This is a solid bull's-eye for McGarrity. It leaves the reader hungry for his next, in which presumably Kerney will rethink his retirement plans as he copes with impending fatherhood and the kind of financial freedom most lawmen never experience. What makes this series work is not only its likable hero but also the brilliant evocation of the American Southwest he calls home. --Jane Adams

4 out of 5 stars Absorbing Reading!.......2007-05-01

Michael McGarrity lives and works where the novel takes place. I followed the story's locals with Microsoft's "Streets & Trips" and can attest that even the smallest village is a real place. McGarrity's story may be fictional and his characters well constructed and believable. But, his geography and local history is non-fictional. Such details lend credence and strength to a plot that commands one's attention. It's a good read and I've just received delivery of two more McGarrity novels; "Tularosa" and "Mexican Hat". I anticipate being well entertained.

5 out of 5 stars The best of the Kevin Kerney books.......2007-03-23

This is the best of the KK books. I won't say too much about the plot since you can read that above. Suffice to say that KK investigates a serial killer and gets more than he bargained for.

Spoilers ahead.

My comments:
1) Reading the KK books in chronological order is a MUST. Otherwise you'll get confused with his relationships with various people, his status as a policeman and the sideplots.
2) This is the best of the KK books because we don't get to see from the killer's point of view so there is some suspense. Bravo, McGarrity should continue with it. Mystery writing 101: Don't reveal too much!
3) The end ends quickly as with all McGarrity books, but it doesn't feel rushed, and everything wraps up nicely, unlike some of his other books.
4) I don't particularly like the subplots, or sideplots as I call them as some of them have absolutely nothing to do with the story.
5) The romantic parts are all amateurly written and cliched. Case in point is at one part where Sara says she made dinner and dessert, and after dinner where KK asks where the dessert is Sara gives him that look and starts undressing. That's terrible writing and totally unrealistic. I have to ask if McGarrity really thinks this happens in real life. For a couple who's been apart, who has dinner first? Business comes first, especially if they have an empty motel room. And after dinner, nothing trumps a post prandial nap, and then maybe business. (OK, maybe you're not a pig like me who eats so much, but didn't your mother ever warn you not to exercise after a meal?)
6) There are some other minor logical lapses, but that's OK, McGarrity isn't one of those really technical writers and I won't allow those from preventing me to enjoy the book. eg. McGarrity never explains how Linda is able to construct a letter bomb. It's not something you can easily make. And letter bombs are not big enough to kill. He should have said parcel bomb.

The pros (or why I keep reading McGarrity's books)
1) His books are always easy to read and well written. A good book is always one which keeps me up past my bedtime and his books do, most of them.
2) Despite what some other people say, I think he does a good job of injecting life into his characters. Unlike some poor writers, he doesn't simply describe his characters, he puts them into situations where they interact, and from their reactions or speech, you get a feel for what the characters are like. For example, this is from Everyone Dies, page 50, where Thorpe questions the delivery man. This is just a simple 2.5 page section where a witness is questioned, but it is so well written that the witness's personality comes across and you feel the same as Thorpe does. It could have been a boring 30 lines where you just read what information Thorpe gets, but you don't, you also feel it. I think it's just a talent, some writers have it some don't.

The cons:
1) I suppose the big cons are Sara. There are quite a few minor recurring characters in KK's life and most of them are OK because they are connected with the plot somehow. But Sara really isn't. I'm not really interested in her job in the military and the problems she has there. Her sideplots just take away from the story for me.

McGarrity has his quirks, and like an old friend, I don't mind his quirks.

4 out of 5 stars what a complicated story.......2006-05-27

master storyteller michael mcgarrity pulled off again with this crazy and sad story about a terrible family tragedy. i love to see that kerney finally married the lovely sara and also became a grandfather out of the blue. this kevin kerney series has become better and better. i've so far finished 5 of it and still not getting tired of, that's a rare treat. keep it coming, sir, love it.

4 out of 5 stars What a great rerading find!.......2005-09-25

I suggest you order all books in the series and get comfortable
with the first book. You are in for a reading treat. Great characters, realistic plots, never boring. I enjoy the interaction between Kevin & his wife, Sara. Both very strong willed people who love each other. However, they find it
is not easy to love each other. Truly enjoyable. Looking forward to the next book.

2 out of 5 stars Exploration of perversion.......2004-06-07

This is a Kevin Kerney murder mystery. The book starts off with the investigation of a killing spree, which Kerney immediately assumes is actually a cover-up for a premeditated murder. As Kerney sorts the clues and interviews the subject, he uncovers the disturbing history of a family gone mad.

I picked up this book with the intention of reading a light who-dunnit. I was taken aback however, as the theme of the book began to become clear. The book is about perversion, on many levels, involving both individuals and families, from personal life to professional life. While following the lurid details of a family's dirty laundry can maintain interest, it wasn't exactly what I was in the mood for. McGarrity's style is also a bit uneven at times, with jarring switches of points of view from Kerney to other characters, telling not only what they are doing, but what they are thinking and feeling inside their heads. Kerney himself is not always believable as a character, with his instant recognition of the premeditated murder based solely on one victim of the killing spree receiving two shots in the chest instead of one and his exclusive investigation of only this one victim and his family. If you're looking for a light book to keep you awake and pass the time, this one may do, but it's not for everyone's tastes.

5 out of 5 stars Old school fantasy adventure.......2002-06-15

The Curse of Slagfid was one of a series of four books published back in the day when Del Rey came out with good fantasy in paperback form on a monthly basis. I'm not sure what happened to Del Rey or Ms. Boyer, since she hasn't came out with anything in a long while that I am aware of, but they don't make 'em like this anymore. This book was simply fun to read. It pleased those of us who enjoy a Tolkien-like quest story without being a knock-off of Tolkien. Boyer utilized Scandinavian myth while still make the story seem human and real. The plot was padded to be sure, but there are wonderful scenes, difficult magical problems to solve, and enough humorous interplay between the characters to keep the reader interested. Leifr, the main hero, is a Luke Skywalker type, in over his head but always up for derring-do and supremely lucky. He receives guidance and headaches in equal measure from Thurid, a self-doubting braggart who starts the series as an incompetent but ends up as a major wizard. What I really enjoyed about Ms. Boyer's works is her treatment of magic. Many fantasy authors treat magic as a mechanism, but she treats it as something organic. In her books, magic is willful, unpredictable, omnipresent, and absolute essential. Suffice to say, if you want a really magical fantasy adventure, you can't go wrong with a book in which the disembodied hand of a wizard is a fully developed character. Fun stuff.

          5 out of 5 stars I love Ms. Boyer's ability to weave a story..........1998-03-21

I love stories which blend fantasy with myth and legend. Her work is a lot like Tom Deitz and any fan of one should read the other. you won't be disappointed. The story of Leifr and his love Ljosa ia wonderful and this series is well worth the read!

Sugar lurks in foods in more than 85 different forms. Kathleen DesMaisons, Ph.D., the first person to receive a doctorate in addictive nutrition, says that besides being detrimental to the immune system, the more than 100 pounds of processed sugar consumed annually by each American is responsible for "mood swings, depression, fatigue, fuzzy thinking, PMS, impulsivity ... [and] unpredictable temper." And while overdosing on the sweet stuff is a national pastime, she says her research shows indulging in sugar highs should be treated much more seriously, akin to heroin or alcohol dependency, because sugar causes spikes in the neurotransmitters serotonin and beta-dopamine just like those drugs--and can eventually wreak similar mayhem on one's health, work, and relationships.

The Sugar Addict's Total Recovery Program is not a quick fix; DesMaisons's plan aims to eliminate sugar cravings, requiring five days of "detox," along with building up the resolve to stick to the recommendations over time--including while out at restaurants, during social gatherings, and while traveling. Fortunately, she offers plenty of tips for those situations, and her prescription is practical and easy to follow, including seven steps as simple as making sure some protein is included with each meal. (That's not to say this is a high-protein, low-carb diet; she criticizes Dr. Robert Atkins and other fad-diet hawkers.) DesMaisons includes more than 50 recipes that cover breakfast through dinner; advice for choosing comfort foods to replace those M&Ms and sodas; and an invitation to join the support group she runs through her Web site. The Recovery Program should be of particular interest to parents and teachers, considering the way sugar-saturated foods are ruthlessly marketed to children--Coke machines are more and more commonplace in elementary schools--and that many of the behaviors DesMaisons links to sugar sensitivity are remarkably similar to those of ADHD. --Erica Jorgensen

5 out of 5 stars finally-- the answer.......2006-12-20

I have binged since I was [...] and have always been 'different' around food. My friends would describe me as emotional or overly sensitive. I saw myself in the pages of this book. I have been working the Radiant Recovery program since October of last year, and I feel like a new person. It's a journey and a process, but I will never go back to being hungry, miserable, and seeking my sugar fix all day!

1 out of 5 stars Not the right solution for me.......2006-08-20

I read "The Sugar Addict's Total Recovery Program" and became sugar-free by following this program in 2002. Instead of being addicted to sugar, I became sort of addicted to DesMaisons's website and whether or not I was receiving her approval on "doing the program" correctly.

After two years of denying birthday cakes and Thanksgiving pumpkin pie, I could no longer stand it and took on a sugar binge of Willy Wonkan proportions. I learned that I needed to find out how to live WITH sugar (in a healthy way) not live without it.

I tried a no-grain diet with lots of protein, fruits and vegetables. First I just did it on the weekdays only, but now I prefer to eat that way all the time. For guidelines on a no-grain diet, check out "The Paleo Diet" by Loren Cordain, or run a web search on "paleodiet." Today I can have a piece of cake now and then, or some ice cream. Amazingly, sometimes I turn down sweets... unheard of! The difference is that now I can stop eating sugar once I start.

It turns out I wasn't addicted to sugar at all. Eating sugar was helping my body compensate for low energy. This book didn't heal me of my core problem, but helped me to ignore it for a few years. I'm glad I found the real cure.

                  1 out of 5 stars Not a sugar Addict's Recovery program.......2006-08-06

This book simply changes one form of sugar to another form. They tell people to eat potatoes which are full of sugar. If you want to really get off sugar, try the following book.: Living Foods for Optimum Health by Brian R. Clement.

                  5 out of 5 stars Great Book!!.......2006-01-01

I would buy this book just for the recipes. It is very friendly and easy to follow. This is the best book of its kind that I have read.

3 out of 5 stars Not an improvement.......2005-07-29

A simple, less technical recap of DesMaisons previous book, Potatoes Not Prozac. Not an improvement. DesMaisons, in her book and on her related website, implies that the solution to "sugar sensitive" people's problems is purely biochemical. Just "do the food" and you will get "radiant recovery." Since she uses a lot of alcoholism parallels, I'd like to point out that sobering up (or detoxing from sugar) is simply the first step in recovery.

2 out of 5 stars beans without meat.......2007-06-14

An interesting cookbook, but left me a little disappointed in that I was looking for more ways to prepare beans in general, rather than more ways to cook beans without meat. I'd imagine this book would be more appreciated by a vegetarian than this omnivore who'd prefer a few bean recipes that make use of a ham bone, ham hocks, or even chicken stock to bean brownies.

5 out of 5 stars Recipes are as delicious as they are easy........2007-04-02

This book is high on my list when advising my nutritional clients to include more fiber in their diet. Yes, I always get the look that says "Oh! What about the gas?". Fortunately, the author includes several suggestions for "circumventing" that issue.
The recipes themselves are delicious and easy. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the tastiness of the desserts.

The book is formatted by bean type; then by Appetizers, Salads, soups & sides, Main dishes and finally desserts for each bean type.
Be sure to read the introduction - this is where the author gives her recipe hints, substitutions, and nutritional info.

                    5 out of 5 stars A cookbook lover's dream!.......2004-04-02

This cookbook is not only full of fabulous bean recipes, it is a fun read as well! I love Suzanne's suggestions, helpful hints, and the extras about friends and family who lovingly inspired her along the way.

As a bean LOVER, I am delighted by all the extremely creative recipes - and I'm anxious to try out the desserts! One of my favorite things about this cookbook is the set-up. Instead of the traditional cookbook method of chapters grouped into "appetizers", "entrees", "desserts", etc. - each chapter in this book is dedicated to ONE bean variety. So for example, with black beans - you will find all the appetizers, entrees, desserts, etc. IN the black bean chapter! I thought this was great - no digging through the "desserts" chapter to find where the black bean desserts are!

I highly recommend this cookbook - there is literally something for everyone. It makes healthy eating FUN - thank you Suzanne!

What a hysterical, loving book. My husband was just put on a bean diet and thanks to Suzanne and her recipes, I have been saved from certain despair. Such a find. I already know what all my friends and relatives are getting as gifts this year.

                    5 out of 5 stars What a fun cookbook!.......2004-02-15

I've found ways to get my kids to eat beans. Suzanne's recipes for desserts and breads using beans are ingenious. And for adults who are looking for ways to eat less meat there is plenty of inspiration. I created a Superbowl party menu using bean enchiladas as the entree and "Bean,I mean CreamPuffs" for dessert. The meal was a hit. You won't be disappointed in this book. I am buying them for my friends and for my sister, who is a dietician.

                    Book Description

The final, poignant chapter in a trilogy of bestselling true stories about a floppy-eared Scottish Fold named Norton

Peter Gethers was a confirmed cat hater until the day he received a six-week-old kitten as a gift. Walking the streets of New York with Norton tucked into his pocket, Gethers began forming an intense attachment to his new pet. Before long Norton was flying with his owner on the Concorde to Europe, sipping milk in Parisian cafés, and eating custom-made pounce pizzas at Spago. Soon Gethers began to detail Norton’s adventures in print, and with The Cat Who Went to Paris and A Cat Abroad the duo made history as well as many, many friends around the world.

The Cat Who’ll Live Forever chronicles the latest in Norton’s astonishing adventures, celebrity encounters, and worldwide excursions, culminating in his heartwarming¯and heartbreaking¯final cross-country trip. The first half of this book will have you smiling and laughing as Norton changes the lives of the Italian owners of a thirteenth-century abbey in Sicily, attends movie premiers with Sir Anthony Hopkins in the chic Hamptons, and relaxes at the dog run in Greenwich Village’s Washington Square Park. But as Norton gets older his schedule slows down and he struggles with the aches and pains and physical inconveniences that go along with age, teaching his human the essentials of loving and caring and coping with illness. Ultimately Norton passes along to his owner the most valuable lessons of all¯how to deal with death and grief, how to live life on your own terms, and how to appreciate and savor the joyful times that come along while we’re here on earth.

The Cat Who’ll Live Forever is, on one level, a touching meditation on love and relationships and dealing with the pain of inevitable loss. Above all, it is a deeply moving and life-affirming tribute to a humble little animal who never let stardom go to his head and always understood the meaning of true friendship.

A Hallmark card disguised as a book. If you like your cliches syrupy, I guess you might like this drivel.

5 out of 5 stars Peter Gethers is amazing.......2007-06-01

I was given the first two Norton books as a gift. A Cat in Paris, and A Cat Abroad. What I discovered is the magic of Peter Gethers. My friends, these are more than just "cat books". Peter Gethers is an a gifted writer who writes about his interesting life, and the adventures Norton has with him. This book is the final Chapter of Norton stories. It's a heart-wrenching story of the final adventures of the friends we've known to love, whether abroad or home. Our rough around the edges Peter has no boundaries when it comes to sweet Norton. One thing that has always stuck with me is Gethers, a grown man, who would move over in bed so as not to disturb Norton sleeping on his pillow. It's painful to read, especially if you've read the others. But, Gethers brings us to Norton's end in peace. It's a great book for an animal lover, but Gether's adventures make this book a fit for anyone.

5 out of 5 stars Love this book.......2007-02-06

I think this book is just marvelous. I really enjoyed the previous 2 Norton books, but I think this one is the best of the 3.
The book tells of the great love a person can have for an animal. Your heart breaks along with Mr Gethers as Norton grows old and frail. You hope for a miracle, and you will be touched by the bravery of little Norton.
I confess to being teary-eyed by the end, and I felt the need to give my cat a big hug.

                    5 out of 5 stars C'EST MAGNIFIQUE!.......2007-01-20

THE CAT WHO'LL LIVE FOREVER completes author Peter Gethers' trilogy honoring his charming Scottish Fold best friend, Norton; I was captivated by all three books, and unabashedly moved by this account of Gethers' and Norton's final adventures together. While THE CAT WHO WENT TO PARIS and A CAT ABROAD were pure escapist joy for cat lovers and travel buffs, THE CAT WHO'LL LIVE FOREVER made me bawl. That's not a bad thing, though -- Norton was a very special cat, and Gethers' love for him shines in his account of their travels and final farewell. Highly, highly recommended for all cat lovers, travel afficionados, and fans of la dolce vita.

                    I've never been deep emotion.
Whenever I think Norton, I feel sad until now.
This book very very sad and a very admirable writing.

Organized by garden area, 1,954 easy-to-use homemade remedy recipes—containing items such as beer, baby shampoo, and ammonia—instruct gardeners how to turn puny plants, wretched roots, and tired trees into gorgeous garden specimens without the use of store-bought chemical alternatives. Quick fixes are offered for fighting fungus with pantyhose, defeating botanical disease with peppermint, and bug-proofing vegetables with mustard and cloves; and obstacles such as heavy rains, nutritional plant deficiencies, and gardening on sloped areas are also discussed.

some good info on natural remidies but you need to get through all of the 'cute' riddles and hokey sayings to get there. I do enjoy a little 'quip' now and then for a fun read but this book is kind of like a preschoolers guide to potions. A little too much goofyness for some needed garden information.

To attract a reader's attention, you need an original font.

This third volume of Indie Fonts provides a showcase collection of 1,600 new fonts from today's hottest digital type foundries, and features the best work of these designers. As with the first two volumes, Indie Fonts 3 will help readers find some of the highest quality fonts available today.

Type styles range from the best of Matthew Carter's classic designs to the latest irreverence of ingoFonts. Designers searching for unique typefaces will find what they are looking for, whether historical revivals or futuristic techno faces.

                              Book Description

For centuries, designers have chosen type styles to convey unique expressions and to make their work stand out from the crowd. Today's computers provide a selection of fonts that serve reasonably well for workaday letters and publications, but have become utterly boring from overuse. If you want your project to attract the reader's attention you need an original font.

Independent type designers have devoted their talents to producing fresh, new fonts that can give your text a major boost. Indie Fonts provides a showcase collection of almost 2000, diverse fonts from 18 of today's hottest digital type foundries and features the best work from these designers. Indie

Fonts will help you find some of the highest quality fonts available today.

In the early 20th century, type reference books provided users with samples from the major monolithic type companies; this book is styled after those classic tools, but features independent firms whose fonts are as unique as their names. You will discover such foundries as Letterror, PSY/OPS, and Test

Pilot Collective, alongside P22 type foundry, Font Diner and Astigmatic One Eye Typographic Institute.

The type styles range from the best of Matthew Carter's classic designs to the latest irreverence of Chank Diesel. Every designer searching for unique typefaces will find what he or she is looking for, from historical revivals to futuristic techno faces.

The book's fully cross-referenced index of type designs and designers, accompanied by one-line illustrations of the fonts for quick reference, expedites the search. Direct access listings to the foundries, websites and phone numbers, allows the user to put any remaining questions directly to the type designers! (Don't be shy—they,re expecting your call.) Also included is a helpful glossary of typographic terminology and quick reference charts so you can track down those unusual characters required in many languages, such as å, é, î, ø, and ü, and sometimes ß.

Indie Fonts comes with a companion CD-ROM, worth far more than the retail cost of the book — featuring 33 representative fonts from the book's independent foundries. Searching the web and looking at pixilated web images is not a satisfactory way to find the best type for your needs. Using this book and CD-ROM is a far better method to find unique fonts — from the extremely useful to the surprisingly experimental. Indie Fonts is a must-have for designers, artists, aesthetes, publishers, advertisers, and hobbyists — in fact, for anyone with something to say.

I bought this book from Amazon thinking that I'd have better luck than the Oct. 2005 shopper... Boy was I wrong! Not only is the book all broken in/cover torn & scratched... the CD IS MISSING!!! That's part of the reason I bought this book. I purchased this book "brand new" from Amazon (triple-checked my receipt to confirm).

The book itself is great, but please do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy this book from Amazon--you'll be thoroughly disappointed.

this item was described as brand new in plastic wrap, which is why i purchased it as a gift for a friend. not only was this item CLEARLY used, it was falling apart. the book was shipped to me with a broken spine, the paper sover had marks all over it and there was NO plastic wrap protecting the item. i am very upset with the service i received, and will NOT be shopping with amazon again!

5 out of 5 stars Resource for graphic artists and web designers--wonderful.......2005-10-02

This is an unusual volume; you get a book with 408 pages of various resources, organized by font foundry. You can sample the work of each foundry and get an idea of their product line.

Best of all, the front of the book has in index in alphabetical order showing each font. So you can locate a font you like and then look it up for additional information.

You can also find the AIGA's guide to the Use of Fonts, important for understanding copyright in using fonts in your work.

The bonus CD has 33 fully-licensed fonts. Not all of them are unique--you can find some of these gratis on the web, but the collection is handy for those who can't get enough fonts. I only found a few of these really worth having.

Wow! "Indie Fonts" is indeed a quality book both in the information it provides and the workmanship afforded in the making of the book itself. Few publishers take pride in making such a quality product as this...like the bookbinders of yesteryear. You can see the workmanship as soon as you lay eyes on it. You can feel the wokmanship the moment you pick it up. A work of Art! Highly recommended. Enjoy!

4 out of 5 stars Indie Fonts Brings Unseen Type to the Masses.......2002-12-19

The book's hardback permanence and $$$ ($$$ from Chank, that scoundrel) list price make it more of a reference than a catalog. Bound in stunning red cloth, Indie Fonts' exterior brings to mind the solid albums of ATF and Linotype. With class and substance, this volume lends credence to each firm it represents.

Up front is a style index with a one-line showing for each font and page number referring to the corresponding full specimen.

Generally well-planned specimen pages organized in foundry sections make up the bulk of the content. Each foundry created its own section page with a company bio and ordering information. Each shop also designed its own specimens based on Grieshaber's templates, resulting in showings of slightly varying quality. On the whole, the type is given ample room for full character sets, although things get a bit tight for foundries with more fonts to show. Text faces are often shown in paragraph form with a tiny column measure. It would be nice to see how they perform in more extensive settings. The font name, designer and year of design are listed in the sidebar. Some foundries opted to include notes on the font's use or origin in this margin and those specimens are better for it.

Trailing the foundry sections is a glossary, a reading list, and a handy character reference chart. Also included is the AIGA's guide to the Use of Fonts which covers some font copyright and ethical use concepts misunderstood by most designers. A simple index of font names and designers rounds out the book.

Tucked into the inside back cover is a CD of 33 "Bonus Fonts" which are fully licensed for immediate use. Some are true commercial goodies and add value to the book, others are available for free elsewhere, and a few are pure poop.

                              Not Seen on TV

Any collection of independent typography is subject to a wide variety of style and quality. In no other book can one find the classic work of regal Matthew Carter directly followed by the irreverant fonts of Chank. Indie Fonts proudly hails both the king and the court jester. But the unexpected is what makes the volume so valuable. Much of this type has never been used by a magazine or multi-national corporation. These are fonts not seen on TV. These are mass-culture virgins. To a designer struggling to make an impact in a world over-saturated with the same old look, this stuff is gold.

Most of the typefaces in Indie Fonts were already unveiled by their respective foundries in those previously mentioned corners of the web, but there are a few that will be new, even to surfing typoholics. Fresh Fountain fonts made their debut in Indie Fonts before the redesigned web site went live. Peter Bilak's multi-descendered Fedra Serif (still in preview form at Typotheque) is displayed beautifully in one of the more thorough specimens of the book. Without a website or distributor, much of Matthew Carter's Carter & Cone library (Fenway, Big Figgins, ITC Galliard CC, Ionic #1, Sammy Roman, and Wilson Greek) is on display here for the first time, as far as I know. And It's a relief to see all of the Test Pilot Collective in one accessible place, their website still repelling hopeful visitors after years of being AWOL.

Worth a Spot on the Shelf

Indie Fonts isn't quite on par with the master of all specimen books, FontShop's FontBook. But it's more of a companion to the catalogs of the large distributors than it is a replacement. In the end, those who rely only on the big boys are overlooking a valuable set of typefaces - many of which are effectively set into motion by this very worthy tool.
