During construction work at Datchworth Castle in the village of Wallwoon in Oxfordshire, England, a secret room is uncovered. Expensive silver dating from the Cromwell era and manuscripts are found in the forgotten room. Rob Hillman is hired to translate and catalogue the manuscripts, a job he loves. Not long afterward, castle owner Sir Gregory asks his butler to bring Rob to him, but after he seemingly vanished; the translator is found murdered on the grounds although the police can find no motive for killing the popular Rob.
Reverend Kathryn Koerney was planning a visit to Oxford to show her New Jersey parishioners the real city beneath the modern day glass. She also was going to see her cousin Rob, but learns he is dead. She turns the tour over to a friend and accompanied by Police Chief Tom Holden journeys to Datchworth castle to pick up Rob's belongings and hopefully to uncover a clue, not understanding that the killer has no mercy especially if someone starts sniffing too close.
Christina Summers uses flashbacks from various post World war II years so that readers obtain a feel for the families that occupied Datchworth Castle, but that sense of location and tradition also confuses the audience because there seems no link to the homicide. Thus in spite of a fun amateur sleuth working with a professional law enforcement official, the interesting trivia disrupts an intriguing who-done-it (especially the why). Still fans of British modern day castle murder mysteries will enjoy this tale.

Very Cool Journal.......2001-08-13
This is a really great journal i just got. On the cover, there is, of course a picture of batman. The back cover is dark blue and the inside covers display old pictures from what i assume is the first comic book. I really love the inside art, even though you can only read a few of the boxes. The first page has a box that says: this journal belongs to:. 128 lined pages follow that have two different pictures of batman on the top that alternate. i must say again, very cool journal.

one Half of a two part story . the vigalnte punisher crosses path with fellow anti hero the supernatural ghost rider while trying to track down a mobile drug fortress which stays constantly on the road never stopping..... Some nice ideas in this story but as i have said before, mike baron the writer seems to sacafice the action for the ideas... but come on ! we are punisher fans !!!! its the thrill of seeing frank wipe out hoards of evil scum !!!! (in various different ways of course!)is the reason why we buy ...... oh and art by tex is great. one of the best artists around where the look of the characters is concerned

This Text is a Must Read!.......2003-08-06
Anger Management by Howard Kassinove and Raymond Tafrate is by far the most complete and up to date text for therapists. It is a must read resource for all environments, children, adults and families, as well as the workplace. The authors break down anger episodes into understandable segments in order to assess the client's anger intensity and frequency.
Then they rebuild with techniques that include life skills, problem solving snd step by step ways to change thinking. Among the communication skills the motivated client will learn is how to give and receive criticism without becoming defensive. There is also emphasis on non-verbal communication, including body language and direct eye contact.
The model presented for problem solving skills is very important, because it encourages the client to seek alternative solutions, thus reducing anger and frustration.
Ultimately, Kassinove and Tafrate examine forgiveness as part of anger management. By forgiving, eith within or outside of a religious conviction, a person gains the ability to move on. Anger Management is a MUST have for every practitioner's bookshelf--only after a thorough reading!

The answer is a strong yes! This has been achieved by our authors Howard Kassinove and Raymond Chip Tafrate in their excellent new work on anger management.
The work consists of six clearly written, practical guides to the understanding, treatment and management of clients' anger. They have even devoted a chapter to aid the therapist in dealing with his/her anger, a frequent occurrence when working in this difficult area.
The first section consists of four chapters dealing with basics: Anger, The Anger Episode Model, Assessment and Diagnosis, and an overview of the Anger Management Program. These chapters, unlike some practical presentations, presents issues with both experiential and research support with a strong sense of history as well.
In section two, three chapters deal with preparing the client for change. This is followed in section three with five chapters dealing with the process of change, including physical arousal, skills building, and new ways of problem solving. This is really the heart of the work and is presented with excellent examples and concrete steps for the therapist.
Chapters 13-15 work with the necessary cognitive component for anger management without which treatment may never reach completion. The final three chapters address relapse prevention, the therapist's anger, and finally, a sample treatment program.
All this is available at a very reasonable price in todays overpriced book market. The cost of 27.95(less through Amazon) is affordable for students and a valuable addition to the practitioner's library. I recommend it as a valuable guide to one of todays most vexing problems, the reduction and management of anger.

Great ideas for novice and experienced outdoor cooks.......1998-03-02
As an outdoor trainer, I find this (and other Dian Thomas books) invaluable parts of my personal training library. She offers many simple yet intriguing ideas for outdoor cooking fun, suitable for novices or experienced cooks who want to add flair to their outdoor cooking experiences. My particular favorites are the wheelbarrow grills (great when the local ordinances will not allow us to build a fire on the ground) and the turkey cooked hung from a tripod (We fed 15 people with a "bird" done this way. It took a lot of work to set it up, but we were paid off in oohs & ahs for our inventiveness!)

Roughing it easy was problably the best camping book I have ever read. It had lots of inovative ideas that made my camping experience very memroable. Another book I might recomend is Roughing it Easy 2.

training and having fun and a great experience in the back yard
and the wilderness. This book offers a smile and easy fun for
enjoying the rough aspects of the outdoors. I am sincerely
disappointed that it is out of print. It must be that the
publishers has his/her toenails done daily, because he/she
has no clue as to what enjoyment this book can bring away from their overdomestication. I have
worn out my first copy (the one with the colored pics), but
smiled doing so.

This is one of the most poorly produced books I have ever encountered. At least 25 text pages have been left in German--what was the publisher thinking?--and the design is atrocious. It will be a cold day in Hades before I buy another TFH Publications book.
Confusing layout but good coffee table book.......2004-12-27
While this book has some great pictures in it, and the information about the species and lake is good, the arrangement of the species could really use some work. For some reason, Konings has decided to to arrange the species based on outdated classifications, something he acknowledges doing. The reasoning for this is not entirely clear, maybe its because he's an old fuddy-dud who insisted on using archaic and inaccurate classifications. This alone could be forgiven, after all, the book was published over 10 years ago, at a time when the more accurate classifications were still relatively new. However, what is more confusing is that konings has changed the names of the species to reflect the new system of classification. So while the species are arranged in the order of the old classification their names do not reflect this. For example, under the outdated naming system the Cyrtocara group of fish is arranged alphabetically as Cyrtocara ahli, Cyrtocara anagenys, Cyrtocara anaphyrmus and so on. However, Konings does not label these species as Cyrtocara xxxxx, rather he names them using their accurate names of Sciaenochromis Ahli, Exochromis anagenys, Maravichromis anaphyrmus and so on. Thus when you try and look up Otopharynx lithobates, rather than looking for the names starting with "O" you must flip randomly through the book (all 495 pages of it) or look it up in the index at the back. Needless to say, this becomes very frustrating. Oh, by the way, I hope you can read German, because about 10 pages of the book are written in it. I'm not sure if this is a problem with only my copy or with all of them but it too is very annoying. (maybe that explains why the book sold for almost 40% off) Anyway, despite these problems the book does contain some good info and pictures and as a coffee table book it succeeds wonderfully, particularly if your guests don't know much about fish. However, as a reference book it is inferior to much of the information and pictures that can be found on the internet. My adice: check out www.cichlid-forum.com for some good info on the species, then pick this book up to impress your friends.

This is one of my favorite books. Once again Ad Konings does a wonderful job of presenting the fish of Lake Malawi.
This book provides the Konings typically wonderful photos of virtually all of the fish and color morphs. The information provided on each fish is excellent as well.

This book is excellent for someone who is more interested in identifying lake malawi fish as opposed to general information on how to properly keep these fish in a home aquarium. For someone who is not a beginner, this definitely is a must have book. The pictures are great and there is a whole lot of information on lake malawi and the general characteristics of each fish. Buy this book, it will be a decision you will not regret.
A Fantastic African Cichlid Reference Book!.......1999-12-20
Mr. Konings has provided the african cichlid enthusiast with a lavishly illustrated reference work that covers the vast majority of mbuna encountered in the hobby as well as rare open water cichlids. Also included are photos of many non-cichlid species of fish (catfish,etc.) found in Lake Malawi. Detailed descriptions of each type of cichlid are given including size, spawning behavior, diet, and habitat. An excellent book!

Excellent Reference.......2006-12-17
The book is filled with page after page of pictures of English country funiture. Every type of furniture is covered: beds, tables, washstands, clocks, chairs (lots of chairs), desks, cupboards, sideboards, hutches and lots of other miscellany. The examples are many and they give an excellent feel of the variety and quality of furniture from this period/area.
Most of the photos have a brief description which usually includes the type of wood(s) used and some text that puts the piece in context. All of the photos show the date and location of manufacture.
The text has a great discussion on construction (dovetails, nails, etc.) but the discussion is general; rarely is there a discussion of joinery techniques regarding a specific piece.
Most of the photos are black and white (>80%) with four sections of color plates. There is only one photo of each piece, which is a shame for pieces that have interiors, such as cupboards and sideboards
This book gets only four stars because dimensions are not given for any of the furniture. I really wish that dimensions were provided to give a sense of scale.

Negative Remarks: While this book maybe full of useful information, it is difficult to read. The type is set 14/18 with half inch indents on paragraphs. Rule of thumb, 14 point type, 14 point indent. I felt like I was junping to the next page when I started a new paragraph. It would be easier reading to have set the book in 12 point type, with 14 point leading, and 12 point indents.
Positive Remarks: If the typesetting weren't so bad, the font chosen for the book was very nice.

Best guide out there for making your own fonts.......2002-12-07
In my day job as program manager for western language fonts at Adobe Systems, I'm often asked about books for people wanting to learn how to make their own digital fonts. This is the one I recommend first every time.
Stephen Moye has quite simply written the best and at this time the only complete guide to making your own fonts. Information on how to construct outlines properly, spacing, kerning and more is all here. Importantly, this book is NOT only useful for people using Fontographer (which is a sadly out of date tool now); most of the information is equally useful for those working with FontLab or other modern font creation tools.
Other books worth checking out for the would-be font-maker include Michael Harvey's Creative Lettering Today, Walter Tracy's Letters of Credit, and Alexander Lawson's Anatomy of a Typeface. Of course there's also Robert Bringhurst's classic Elements of Typographic Style, which should be owned and read by anyone who cares about type.
I liked this book so much that I personally hand-bound mine as a hardcover, to make it last. In retrospect, with used softcover copies going for $300 each, it seems like I had the right idea!

I could not agree more, gret software lousy documentation. This is an essential tool in the graphic arts/design arsenal, it is only appropriate to have high quality documentation to go with it! Stephen Moye is at the top of his game on this, I have seen it and want it!
