Glory Ends Sooner Rather then Later.......2005-04-20

A great read on the adventures of the Minnesota Vikings. I would recommend it for anyone who is interested in the Vikings both a passing fancy and a hardcore dedication. The writing is more then passable and pleasing to read as it moseys along with the trials and tribulations of the Minnesota Vikings. What can I say but one day it will come that vindication for being a Viking fan will come and disprove the legend that the Vikings will never win a Super Bowl.

THIS IS NICE READ ABOUT SOME OF THE MORE INTERESTING AND CONTROVERSIAL VIKINGS. IT COVERS NORM VAN BROCKLIN, CHRIS CARTER, BUD GRANT, FRAN TARKENTON, RANDY MOSS AND MANY OTHERS. A LOOK AT SOME OF THE GREATS OF TODAY AND THE PAST. TO ME IT DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH. TOO SHORT AND NOT DETAILED. BUT STILL A NICE READ FOR VIKING FANS WHO STILL WONDER WHEN WILL THEY WIN A SUPERBOWL. A nice, concise overview.......2001-07-14

It's hard to top Jim Klobuchar as a sports writer, and he does it again with "Knights and Knaves..." Covering the highlights and the personalities that have driven the Minnesota Vikings since their inception all the way to the dismal 2000 playoff game against the Rams, Klobuchar paints an inspiring potrait even amidst the many heartbreaking Vikings defeats. His frank and candid appraisals of such Purple legends as Tarkenton, Moss, Bud Grant, Dennis Green and Cris Carter will humanizie these gridiron deities, and supply the fan with information not found elsewhere. Aside from a few typos, and some inaccurate dates, I found "Knights and Knaves" very enjoyable and enlightening. A must read for any true Vikes fan like myself.

Saved my job!.......2006-03-20

This book was a miracle for me! Everything he said in the book was true, all the things I have been told about my voice. I felt like I was reading my life story. Yes, he spent some time talking about the establishment, but only when some of the advise did not make sense. I have already recommended this book or any other book from Dr Cooper to my friends, coworkers and family. He honestly saved my job because my voice was a huge issue in my reviews and termination was bound to happen. Now I know how to keep my voice healthy. Thanks Dr. Cooper!

In short, he says to focus the voice in the mask (the nose and lip area), breath from the 'midsection' (or, abdomin, as most would call it...) and speak at your optimal pitch level. All the rest is Dr. Morton raging against the vocal establishment machine, and telling us how horrible most all ENT advice is.

Save your money; I wish I had saved mine...

Instead, see any of Patsy Rodenburg's books.

Some good ideas amongst endless drivel of how wonderful Dr Cooper thinks he is..........2002-06-03

There are a few good ideas and solutions in this book to help people with voice disorders. Unfortunately the book is very frustrating in that it has very little structure and endless repetition of Dr Cooper's odds with the medical / voice therapist establishment. I had to read the entire book because I wanted to be sure of extracting every practical piece of information it contained regarding my voice problems. Apart from that I would have set it down very early.

Dr Cooper endlessly trumpets on about how he pioneered Direct Voice Rehabilitation against critiscm from the rest of the medical community. He devotes a whole chapter to questioning the ethics of the wider medical establishment in respect of the accepted treatment of voice problems. Why??? I just want to know about how to fix my voice not join Dr Cooper's self-indulgent crusade to justify himself!

Consequently, the book could have been about a third (or even less) of the size and a lot more focused on practical solutions for the reader. I have begun to read his other book, "Change Your Voice, Change Your Life" but it didn't last long as it is the same drivel with a different cover.

If you are serious about your voice, please take a look at Roger Love's work. This guy really KNOWS voices! As for this book by Dr Cooper, I wish I could change the star ratings that I gave this book to 1, but it's too late now. (I must have been feeling generous when I first wrote this!)

Not as useful as it sounds.......2001-05-04

Frankly, I had high hope when I bought this book, hoping to change my voice and make it last longer. But the book is very disappointing offering only a couple of tips on finding the natural voice. The rest is just the author boasting his successful experiences in treating numerous patients. If you are looking for a real self-help book, you should look further.

This book made drawing cartoons so easy that I couldn't believe it. I'm not an artist, but I can draw cartoons better now than most of my artist friends. The great thing about the method used in this book is that every single step that you draw is either a letter or a number. Each drawing is made simply by stringing together a series of letters and numbers. BRILLIANT! When I gave a copy of this book to my son, he drew for six hours straight!

I've read several Discus books, some really good ones from Bernd Degen, and I really didn't like this one. It doesn't focus on anything at all and it has no hints about keeping them (despite the sub-title in the front page) beside temperature. Some average pictures after all, from the TFH archive.

Perhaps I did not read the description very well, but I thought I was getting a book about purple arrangements of flowers. I was surprised to see it was stationary when it arrived.

I like the beautiful pictures of the flowers, the recipe-like instructions on how to make the arrangements, and the writings from Rebecca Cole that encourages the reader to be creative, and skip the recipe if you'd like. I borrowed this book from the library to check it out, and I think I'm going to buy it to keep because it's such a beautiful, practical and inspirational flower book.

Ho-Hum.....Hardly!.......2003-07-05

ANOTHER book on flower arranging? Ho-hum I thought. But wait, the author is Rebecca Cole, the charismatic and incredibly talented floral arranger and author. A relatively tired subject is made crystal clear and amazingly new by Rebecca. The book includes basic flower care advice, excellent instructions and photography, and makes you love flowers almost as much as the author. As with her two previous books, highly recommended for the visual enjoyment as well as the writing, to say nothing of the incredible ideas.

This is the third book I've read by Rebecca Cole and they just keep getting better. Rebecca's new book is filled with cool concepts and writing. She talks about creativity, encourages it, and uses refreshing--sometimes even irreverent--humor throughout the book. Flowers are not too precious for this designer and this reader appreciates all of the tongue in cheek. The flower arrangement results are sometimes whimsical and always stunning. Funny, smart, and beautifully photographed and designed, Rebecca's book is my current favorite gift item.

I don't know how she does it, but Rebecca Cole delights, amazes and inspires me again! Her third book contains arrangements from the whimsical to sassy and she breaks them down step-by-step, like a big floral arrangement cookbook. I have attempted the Checkerboard Flower Box (about half the size of the one in the book) and it lasted nearly two weeks, thanks to the wonderful conditioning tips. My other favorite section is the Welcoming Windows, about making the all important first impression. Throughout the book, Rebecca Cole shares personal stories from her childhood.

Helen Norman's photographs are breathtaking - sharp and colorful - and there are a LOT of them. This great book helps a lot during long, grey winter days until my own garden begins to bloom again.
