Good but not advanced.......2002-10-06

The book covers most of the Statistics. The problems are very well explained and the explanation covers the theory too. The book does not cover sufficiently neither Regressions nor Anovas. Times Series and BioStatistics are covered at a high school level. BootStrap - Monte Carlo, is not even mentioned and Stratified Samples are almost not touched

Nevertheless this is a valuable book that will deepen the statistical knowledge of the reader. I would recommend it to any one that has done some intermediate statistics and wants to consolidate his knowledge. Graduate students will not be helped much from it.

I wish REA publishes a second volume with the chapters that are not covered here.

Good for undergrad courses.......2002-01-19

This book was very helpful to me during the beggining of my graduate course of Statistics I. It does help with most of the basic stuff but it does not contains many good examples of ANOVAS, Latin Squares, Randomized Complete Block Design, Blocking and other advanced topics (It doesn't contains any exercises using Tukey, LSD, Dunnet etc). Anyway, it is still a good book and it's still a good buy.

One of the best investments anyone in a statistics course can ever make. I was lost in a graduate level statistics course and this book not only pulled me through but I finished with flying colors. These books start with the simplest problems and explain their solution each step of the way. You stop doing problems for a particular subject when the problem solver gets to a level they're not covering in class. I found the class text useless. You will not end up doing more work. Well worth the expense.

These hefty guidebooks are what any math student needs to get through the most difficult classwork. These books walk you step by step through any imaginable problem that you could encounter in a course and do so in a way that anyone can understand. Well worth the money spent. These books have saved me many hours of hair pulling and cursing.

This problem solving guide is comprehensive and easily understood. It is a must for any high school or college course in probability. Definitely a must for raising your grades.

Edition 2001: Well written and example well chosen.......2003-06-23

However, it has missing subchapter entries from the Context, missing labels for figures and tables, poor Glossary and poor Index. Finding a subject of interest is a real challenge.
The book suffers from numerous mistyping errors. The most frequent: part of expressions from nominator are put in the denominator for no mathematical reasons, and column headers shifted to the left in tables. As a result, one may expect to spend significantly more time studying it and still be confused. It needs more figures and professional proof reading to become an excellent book. The final solutions to the Problems are correct.

The book is not the "A complete Solution Guide to Any Textbook" that it promises to be. It has plenty of problems, but it tends to be targeting novices in probability. MGF's, Stratified sampling, joint distributions are not dully covered. It includes a Chapter on Markov Chains and Martingales. Although explanation is adequate the deapth of the coverage is inadequate.

I used the Stochastic Processes section to gain an intuitive understanding of what these beasts are about. I recommend that section for it simplicity to anyone who wants to get more than the abstract stuff that floats over the head of most people in contemporary textbooks.

covers a wide range of different antiques and styles with a focus on the main artists of each style,descriptions,marks,and tips for what to look out for, but does not provide enough examples of the works of each artist or factory featured. good reading,well written,extensive and informative. the book contains a good number of selected designers and manufacturers as well as the different marks of many of them and that is very helpful. the author,Eric Knowles,is one of the leading experts in the field and you notice that as you read. it is a shame he does not put a value estimate by the photos.
