Another book by Klutz that appeals to the kid inside. My favorites are spot the dog and dot the cat...the penguin is darling as is the moose. When it comes to making correspondence a bit more fun, these are the books to grab. Fun for everyone who likes to doodle.

I am loving this new book by Jill Hassler-Scoop, et al.! It has thoroughly explained integration and the psychological aspects of riding. It has helped me organize my rides better and keep my training calm and effective. It is very easy to read and understand and is the type of book you can refer back to again and again to "refresh" your riding attitudes. I am buying it for my riding buddies for Christmas!

This book is a handy starting guide for planning any hiking trip or some other just general trips with your dog. It does include a few handy tips and just general things that apply to people as well. It's decent, but not inclusive. Of course the book would be much bigger if *everything* was included. Also it can be kind of hard to figure out where the hiking is, as it's not listed by state, but by mountain names.

This is an exact copy of the Come-Packt Furniture Catalog that individuals would order from in the early 1900's, right down to the shipping charges. This is not a how-to manual. It has a color card in the back of the various stain and leather options available. The only drawback of the book is the fact that the pictures are slightly blurred and not very large. If you're trying to transfer measurements to a full-scale drawing, it could be difficult.

An introduction to solar energy that is specifically designed for junior- and senior-level science and engineering students who want a thorough understanding of the principles behind solar energy, as well as a solid preparation for more advanced study, this book is divided into four parts. The first three chapters deal with the sun, its apparent motion across the sky, and the insulation it provides at the earth's surface. Chapters 4 and 5 survey the principles of heat transfer and optics, and present the background material for the next two chapters. Chapters 6 and 7 cover solar heaters with applications to space heating and hot water supply systems, and include topics such as flat plate collectors, arrays, thermal storage, and solar assisted systems. Chapters 8 and 9 discuss thermodynamic and photovoltaic conversion of solar energy to useful work. Two appendixes are included. One summarizes the formulas for the sun's motion, and the other derives approximate equations for diffuse solar flux.

I run a website purely as hobby. Having never taken a single graphic design or html course, or read a single book on the subject, I picked up this book at a book wholesaler and got it out of curiosity. I found it to be a non-threatening and friendly introduction to basic rules of web design. Before I went simply on what I thought looked good and what loaded fast. Now I know just a little bit more that can really make a page work well. Particularly helpful is the chapter called "Web sites that DON'T work."

If you're passionate about Web design and want to do it right the first time out, then read Roger's book Web Sites That Work. This is the kind of advice that companies such as MSN and CondeNast pay big bucks for!
The book is well-designed itself and almost comes off as a photo essay in parts with plenty of pictures of our hero, Roger Black, studying the Web and transforming pages into online art forms.

It's ok, Roger definetly has some knowledge. The best information comes from Jakob Nielsen, check out his site useit.com and his books to design successful, user-friendly, and attractive sites.
Not worth the Money.......2001-06-21
Though a beautiful book, it's not worth the price tag. The book goes through Mr. Black's career as a designer, both for magazines and web pages. The "web sites that work" are only Mr. Black's. He does not go over other web pages outside his company except to show those that do not work. Some beautiful glossy pages and pictures give you a lot of ideas for your own pages, but that can probably be found elsewhere as well. There is almost no technical information here, just a lot of glossy pictures.
Great web theory.......2001-02-09
If you are looking to learn how to build a web site, and intuitive and well thought out web site that is user centric, then this book can offer a lot of good information for you. This book does not gie you HTML code lessons or how to make buttons. What it does do is cover some excellent web theory. As others have mentioned, this book is too full of Roger Black's ego and useless graphics and pictures. Sort through his self boasting and you'll get a good deal out of this book. Is it worth the price? I can honestly say that I did get a lot out of it, but what I got most out of this book was confirmation of my own usability theory of the web. So for me, yes it was worth it.
