An excellent primer to marine carving........2003-04-29

I am very impressed with the content and the overall knowledge with respect to marine carving by the author. His focus on design and project dimensions would make a huge difference on whether your carving looks good or improperly sized. He also covers techniques in wood bending and mounting scrolls and other objects over curved transoms. I can't wait to build my first nameboard for my boat after reading this gem.

I purchased this to help communicate with a Korean exchange student. I discovered it wasn't helpful to me at all for that purpose. I'll donate it to the school library however! Shipping and speed of delivery were great!

Great Teaching Aid!.......1998-08-23

Best book I've found in nine years to teach Korean speakers conversational English! The book is clear and concise with great pictures. The only change I would make for future publications would be to add the phonetic spelling of each word using Korean characters. This would be a plus in addition to the Korean word(s) for the pictured items. I highly recommend this book for all Korean speakers that are serious about learning English.

A master work sure to become a classic reference........2004-03-22

As the director of an history museum I am often asked to review books and such was the case of War Horse. I was amazed at the scholarship that went into this wonderful book. Its told as a story of the U S Army Remount service which supplied a standard mount for the Cavalry but much more it tells the story of the development of a "using" kind of horse. One of the best parts of the book are the wonderful side bar stories and photos about everyone from George Patton to Francis the talking mule! The complete data on almost every aspect of breading the war horse will make this book a valuable reference. If you like horses or if you just want to know how one of our country's first mass produced war machines was developed this needs to be in your hands. Powerful works of art.......2000-07-28

A remarkable collection of powerful and memorable images: protest posters produced in Vietnam, Cuba and the United States. The art is incredible, and the essays skillfully provide insight into the posters themselves and the contexts in which they were created. I wish i had seen the exhibition myself, but this book is a valuable substitute.
