All the good reviews you heard were true in some parts but not fully true. It only lets you draw a few villains. If you want to draw lots of the villains don't get this book. The villains are also in horrible poses.

A helpful book, but lacks a bit of depth........2004-01-19

This beautifully illustrated guide is an introductory book on the basic drawing techniques needed to accurately depict several cartoon characters from the Spider-man universe in their well-known Marvel Comics style.
The information and instructions contained in this book are logically organized and include a list of tools and materials you need to get started, guidelines on how to use the book and some basic information on perspective. It also contains some step-by-step examples on how to draw characters like Spiderman (and Peter Parker), Mary Jane, Black Cat, Daredevil, Venom, Dr. Octopus, Lizard, Mysterio and Vulture.
However, this book lacks information on several topics that include guidelines on basic figure drawing, head and figure proportions, movements and expressions, comparisons of male and female figure features, and perspective and foreshortening for backgrounds and figures. It also lacks some steps on its step-by-step instructions, better explanations on how to reach the finished drawings and a lot more useful advice on detailing the characters.
Buy this book only if you can't find any other references on how to draw Spider-man.

A pretty cool little book for your kids........2001-07-07

If you have kids who like reading comic books, (Spider-Man in particular) or drawing cartoon characters, this would be a good book to help teach them a few essentials, and it's pretty easy for kids to understand. Who knows, maybe your kid will some day get a career in the industry, then you can capitalize on the hundreds of dollars you spend buying them comics in the first place. It's a win/win situation...

This book takes the author (and reader) from the end of a 19 year marriage to the "first love" of the Papillon breed ("Butterfly dogs")and through many generations of love and loss. The authors family, friends, felines and canines intertwine in everyday living, drawing you deeper into their lives that you end up laughing at crazy antics of the furry critters and crying when things go wrong. Anyone owned by a "furcritter" can relate to the happenings in this book.
I was so enthralled in the authors life that it felt as if I really "knew" her! And the end of the book had me wanting for more. I certainly hope she intends on doing a "sequel" to this heart warming book!

I have this wonderful book and recommend it very highly. Warm hearted, well written and excellently illustrated. Five generations of life with her beloved Papillons !! Very Helpful...but only buy the spiral bound version.......2003-04-21

Great quick reference book (and cheaper than Scotts Catalogue)...but the spiral version has two big advantages in my mind

1) You can tear out the pages that you don't need to make the book smaller and easier to use. For example I remove the United Nations, 1st day cover, famous autographs, duck stamps, Canadian trust terrritory and postal stationary sections.

2) It is easier to use the book balanced on your knee while checking eBay or folded in half next to your Stamp Album.

2003 Brookman Catalogue.......2003-02-10

I think this book is a very useful guide for US stamps. The only thing that I was a little unhappy about with this book is I thought this would be the spiral bound copy like you see in the stores, but it is not. Otherwise this book is great! I use it to identify US stamps. It is much easier to use than a Scott Catalogue because under the picture of each stamp is a list of possible Scott numbers that the design corresponds with.

Excellent look at the Begonia family.......2006-12-02

I found this text to be very useful. The scientific classifications, including leaf shape, texture, stem placment and flower formation were introduced in an approachable and engaging manner. The section on pests and diseases that are problems for begonias was very useful. Learning the origin and natural habitat of various begonias really helps with their successful cultivation. I did not find the more scientific aspects offputting at all. The text is written in a way that I found very appealing, and the large number of color photographs make it visually rich. This is a very thorough and appealing look at the amazingly diverse begonia family.

I would recommend this to anyone who wants to become more familiar with this fascinating plant family. For those of us with an acknowledged interest (ie, member of the American Begonia Society here) this book is a real treasure.

I would give this book top rating if I had had a scientific interest in the history of begonias. I bought it thinking it would have a lot of practical cultivation and propogation tips and it disappointed me in that respect. It's a very thoroughly written and documented botanist's book - not really targeting the home gardener.

This book proves into hearsays surrounding Koreans in America. My writings illustrate how race has impacted my life and other Koreans vis-à-vis white Americans.

I wrote articles to illustrate the interplay of my Korean heritage on my minority status. The range of social issues that I touch upon in my articles includes affirmative action, dating, church life, sexual harassment, volunteerism, sorority life, dorm life, politics, travel and the psycho-dynamics of my relationships with white peers, Koreans abroad, Korean visitors and other Korean immigrants.

My short stories identify my disillusionments with some of the disingenuous elements of racial integration. My short stories touch upon issues ranging from racism, sexism, lookism, abortion, homosexuality, and anti-social behaviors. Anti-social behaviors towards a person of racial minority range from a certain curt unfriendliness to maintain distance to abhorrent crimes perpetrated against a person of racial minority in order to maintain status quo due to the notion that minority achievements manifest disruption to status quo. My stories poke fun at these ill at ease individuals with racial integration.

In this seminal work, Dorothy distills the true meaning of being a Korean maiden through her vivid musings on the nature of American culture, and its juxtaposition with Korean social dynamics.

Dorothy Hong tells a different story from Celtic scholarship of Mongolian invasion in Europe and what Mongolians did in Europe( but of course here she is refering to mostly Mongolians in America). She also tells a different story from German's reference to Aryan brothers in Tibet. But her stories are in a continuum of previous scholarships.
